    drive train 7000$, battery 12,000$, car 5000$ = the car is actual worth $24,000 . so no u didn't get it for 5000$. it's only a matter of time when these two major components fail and you have to pay the price.

      @@MZRFaith It's not wasteful, it's actually quite a nice feature. You can also set it so it just runs the fans and not the A/C, but the A/C doesn't really use that much power. Maybe a few percent after 8hrs of sitting in the sun. It keeps the cabin heat from becoming overwhelming, so when you get back to the car you don't have to stand around for a few minutes with the doors open to ventilate the car.

  • @bjørnjacobsengaming
    @bjørnjacobsengaming 5 днів тому +3

    14:19 It's only in the US, petrol in Europe is wildly expensive. Here, a gallon of gasoline costs $9 and a gallon of diesel is approx. $8. Electricity is much cheaper, so the difference in price alone makes many choose an electric car. But in addition to that, there is a 150% tax on cars with an internal combustion engine in Denmark, and there is almost no tax on electric cars in Denmark, so therefore we have many electric cars in Denmark.

  • @bjørnjacobsengaming
    @bjørnjacobsengaming 5 днів тому +3

    16:02
    60% of electricity in Denmark is produced by wind, the last 40% is produced by natural gas. So while natural gas isn't as clean as wind, it's still much better than oil and coal. So an electric car is cleaner than a car with a combustion engine, also with the battery production. It has been proven that the pollution created by a battery on an electric car goes to zero after 3 years of normal daily driving. It has also been proven that a battery on a 2013 Tesla Model S with 312,500 miles on the clock still has 95% charge capacity. In addition, there are many workshops in Europe that specialize in repairing batteries for electric cars, so that you only need to replace the defective cells. So you don't get close to $20,000 because you don't have to replace the entire battery. It's closer to $1,000-$1,500 for that repair. But again, at least 20 years of the car's lifespan will pass before it becomes relevant at all. By then, most people have bought a new car anyway.

    I agree, Randy....The Cybertruck is grossly overpriced! Here in Houston, I saw a dual motor Cybertruck with a black wrap for $124,000 and a Cyberbeast for $140,000. I told you about the 2022 Model S Plaid for about $70,000 with over 14,000 miles. Some people look at the used Teslas more than the newer ones. The cost of insurance on them are ridiculously high!

    • @StalePhish
      @StalePhish 15 днів тому

      $120k for the Cybertruck at auction, can you believe it? Brand new it's $100k for the AWD Foundation Series and $120k for Cyberbeast Foundation Series brand new, right? Can't speak for the insurance costs on Cybertruck or Model S Plaid, but we've got a Model 3 and Model Y in my household and they're spot on the state average for insurance

    • @lashlarue59
      @lashlarue59 15 днів тому +1

      It's not overpriced because people are obviously willing to pay that price. I was at the Tesla service center about a month ago and there were maybe a dozen people waiting there to pick up new cars and 8 of them were there picking up Cybertruck. All 8 of those people were paying CASH. At the time there were news stories about the shortage of Cybertruck's but there were 30-40 of them on that lot that day. If it's like that in Kansas City what is it like in Los Angeles or Miami? Mainstream media is totally unreliable on certain subjects.

    Randy, the USA code says that circuits under continuous use load (aka more than 3 hours continuous use) should only use 80% of the Amps to avoid overheating. So a 50 Amp circuit must run at 40Amps continuous (Teslas automatically do this). If you plug it into a 240V/30A it will charge at 24A. And at a 120V/15A household outlet Teslas will automatically charge at 12A. So you do have a 50A outlet. FYI your charging rate will be volts times amps divided by 1,000 gives kiloWatts/hour.

Child labour in Cobalt mining also affects your phone battery, making stainless steel, refining gas etc. Child labour more likely to be a problem with your phone. Most car companies don't want to have child labour in their supply chain. Also not most EVs sold worldwide now use phosphate batteries which have have no Cobalt in them.

      Do some more research, you can find it for not much over what you pay for 'your Yugo' depending on age, driving history -etc. The higher cost is due to the fact that the Tesla is considered a 'luxury car' and its unibody, so body repairs costs are high.

    personally i love the idea of tesla, i would have bought that in a heart beat, we drive about 30 miles a week rarely ever. an EV just makes since for alot of people but people think that you constantly have to wait 12+ hours to charge them and thats just not true, EV's would sell better if people were more informed about them.

    Randy, great car for what you have paid. Do not mention childs labor for digging costly minerals. Batteries constantly are improved with other ingredients. They last longer with environment friendly minerals. About your range: you don't know how many times it has been charged on a supercharger and perhaps even at 100%. My model S P85 2/2014 does 399 km and it cost me 125.000 Euro in 2014. But I still have it ans "Tessa" looks like new. I am happy with my "old car".

    That was a steal. Somebody really loved on that car, considering no squeaks and everything working. 40 amps on a 50 amp plug is right... You can't continuously pull 100% of the breaker. Disagree a bit on electricity generation. Coal is being used less and less over time. Most new electricity coming online is solar and wind. It'll always be a mix but the grid is getting greener.

    Ive run a 2014 P85 since new now 147,000 miles in the UK. Love the car its free Supercharging, I maintain it myself. Here in UK Superchargers everywhere, (free for me), charge at low low cost in the evening. Here we can select an electricity supplier that only generates from solar / wind. The child labour identified early on in battery manufacture was with Cobalt and in the Congo and this was historically from Cobalt mines for the last 30 years used in metal manufacture, Cobalt has been designed out of 90% of batteries and audited now. Tail pipes in the cities damages kids, EVs are the way out of that nightmare. Good review and great deal on that P85 (The RWD cars drive so nice compared to AWD).I engineered 44 years in big auto world wide, tune motorcycles, I like ICE but EV way better to drive.

    Randy, you got some point incorrect about the EV car market. The charging issue was only an issue for a weekend in Chicago only. It was not a widespread issue. Also the car you previously had did not have a heat pump and was more inefficient than newer models. Another point, the government isn’t forcing the car makers to go EV. They placed emission standards that some people thought could only be met by selling more EVs or PHEVs. This is a misinterpretation of the govt requirements on emissions. I know that we all fall for the media spin but wanted to clarify. You are correct that the entire auto industry is in shambles because they sold cars at way over during the pandemic and people can’t afford them now. Also EVs are still even with all the production emissions and charging from oil/natural gas still better than gas powered cars. You need to read some more articles on this man
