Fun video. The great part about bikes like this BMW S1000RR is that the motors are never straining. They can last forever, if they are driven at anywhere near street speeds . And the best thing is, you are never lacking power to get away from a suddenly dangerous street situation. The scariest thing now, is that the police are now sitting on the interstates, right off the side of the on ramps. No fun joining the interstate at 'merging speeds' , right in front of a state trooper. But ride these bikes with respect for the power and they must be an absolute blast to own. Hell, book a track day to wring them out. Way cheaper then a court date.

The Speed Triple pulls even harder in any gear from any revs - that inline 3 is absolutely nuts and gives the best of the inline 4 and a v twin in my opinion. Ok I ride the RS 1200 and am biased ;-) Pretty much impossible to ride under the speed limit.

Well, I got used to it and accelerating stoopid fast became normal, I recently moved back down to a 600 for shits and giggles, I am enjoying revving the bike out a bit more and not always going so fast.

It is strange to see it called crazy fast since you've ridden so many other liter bikes. The fact that it takes more than a second or two in 1st or 2nd gear shows that it's restricted since that fast 60-100 has been around for nearly 2 decades now.

The worst part is that during the break in period they are limited to a relatively low rpm, and the power doesn't come on until a relatively high rpm. Would you recommend it as a second bike after Ninja 400? Thinking of skipping 600cc class, and maybe use s1000rr in rain mode for a start to get used at power band and stuff...

@@igork9691acceleration on a zx6r scared the shit out of me first time i tried one on track after 8 trackdays (b group) on a ninja400. i imagine on a road without leathers and safety marshals and trees/traffic instead of runoff area it'd be even scarier.

you could do it! but it'd take a lot of getting used to and id take it to the track at least once so you understand what it's actually capable of...

@igork9691 I started riding on a ninja 650 and after only ~5 months I got an s1000rr. I'm just about 5'7 so the positioning/weight/height was the biggest adjustment. The bikes power is more manageable and forgiving than you'd think. Yeah it can go fast as fuck but the electronics and tech make it the most "beginner" friendly 1000 you can buy. It also has all the creature comforts you won't find on any other superbike (cruise, heated grips). It all comes down to the kind of rider and how mature you are.
You can easily kill yourself on a 400 and a 1000. The biggest difference with a 1000 is respecting its power long enough to learn to be in control of it instead of it being in control of you. If not, things WILL get out of hand QUICKLY.

You should ride in pro mode and unlock full power. Dynamic is 2 settings away of full power

Won't you get better gas mileage at normal speeds if to do so only requires a fraction of engine power?
