I daily the s1000rr for some after work throttle therapy and take it for longer weekend rides. For all day riding the SW Motech PRO Sport tank bag is great. For a 2-3 day trip I use the PRO Blaze saddlebag set. A little pricey, but worth every penny (no, I’m not sponsored). So far my back and I are still good friends, too. Love that bike!❤🏍️
In summertime i do my grocery shopping on the bike. I bring a hockeytruck (or smaller) and place items vertically in it, heavy items bottom and stacking before placing on my back. Not a long ride. Just walking is like 12 min there.
The Virginia State Police are now riding a variant of this BMW bike, They sit in all kinds of places police cars can't and use aimed laser radar guns to get people speeding. You ain't getting away from those cops. Fun video. Nice to see Yammie giving the BMW some great reviews.
Uh, wat? The few articles I can even find say they're using the r1250rt which is not at all uncommon as a police bike. It's hardly a variant of the s1000 and not even close to the performance, especially when loaded down with the many pounds of gear they carry. You could outrun one on almost anything.

I live in Northern Virginia, but I'm a native hawaiian(lived on Oahu my whole life), but now live here in Virginia and I sure wish Virginia was smart enough(socially and politically) to allow lane filtering. If they can do it with 6 lanes in california, certainly they can do with with 3 or 4 lanes on I-95 !!

Nah people talk about daily this and that but its never to the point where its a sole vehicle. You cannot daily a sports bike, because if you ride if for at least 320 days, the bike is going to tell you that its not designed for it. Not to mention maintenance.
I don’t know what you mean exactly by daily use ! I mean as a transport method yes maybe , but what about the expensive parts that the bike has? Would you risk park your bike anywhere in the streets and people come and touch and sit on it or maybe kids approach to to the bike and play with it ? Why would you buy a s1k vs xr to daily ride? Can you? sure you can daily ride anything if you don’t have any option. That being said s1k is one of the best dailies if you only want to ride a superbike, they make luggage for it and you can just run roads 6 tires.

I had a CBR600RR as my only means of transportation for 3 years. I was in my 20s and single so I didn't really have to worry about grocery shopping and stuff like that. Only what fit in a backpack. Carrying my golf clubs sucked though.

I have a 1st gen Diavel with hard bags and a 22 panigale v4s, if there’s a gun to my head and I could ONLY have one SUPERbike the S100ORR would most likely be my choice!! Because it handles so well@ low speed, and everywhere else!! my V4s wasn’t as bad as my R1 I had, but I wouldn’t have the V4S as my only bike!! Haveing Two or more bikes Is the best option!! you know what's weird? I still get giddy when I look at my little cb300r.... It's currently in storage and I had to shift it around a bit in the garage that family let me stash it in (their idea was pretty bad and they only realized it half-way through winter so it had to move) and pulling the cover off, pivoting it on it's kick-stand to jimmy it in place... I was still giddy and happy knowing it's my bike.
A bike is a bike regardless of condition or price. If it makes you feel good things, it's as good of a bike as any other. 😊 I have a '22 Hayabusa and an '06 ZX-10R, and I've been wanting a Honda Grom for while now and a 400cc sporty bike. I know I'd look back as I walk away and feel good about them as with my faster bikes.

I wouldn't daily ride a BMW S1000RR due to insurance rates; careful riders who commute are essentially subsidizing crash-happy riders. Of course, that's the purpose of insurance, but it seems to me that the very high insurance rates on BWM's S1000's is doing exactly what free markets want you to do...avoid vehicles that are expensive to buy and dangerous to own. While I love sportbikes, I don't want to be associated with your typical sportbike rider who buys an S1000...a person who decats their bike into something really loud (that's tells you a lot about how antisocial the rider is), re-chips their bike (because screw emissions and 200 hp isn't enough), and crashes a lot (hence the very high insurance rates). While not all S1000 owners are this way, enough owners are indeed this way as to result in insurance companies assessing these riders as a "very high risk".
@@jvillain9946 I'm a 52 year old rider with no tickets in 30 years, 815 credit score, no crashes since 1993, and with most bikes my insurance is between $250 to $450 per year through Progressive for bikes like the XSR900, F900, Suzuki GSX8S, GSXS1000, for full coverage including all that you've listed. I do use fairly high coverage limits, something like 50K medical coverage and 100K/200K limits. However, with the S1000RR, full coverage with the same is about $1500 to $1800, and it's slightly lower for GSXR1000's and Kawasaki ZX6R. Is that unaffordable? Kinda, but not necessarily from a money view point. Rather, the insurance company that I use is, I believe, very good at assessing risk, and they've essentially told me that if I buy an S1000RR I will triple my chances of crashing. That's a huge amount. Maybe 50% I'd be ok with ie buy an MT-10 instead of an XSR900, but triple the risk?

When i lived in Hawaii i used to drive my 12 S1K arround the island and it would take me about 5 hours or so depending. It was super comfortable. For a speot bike. Now I'm in Florida trying to find some twisties. And its only got 11k on the odometer. Been thinking on swaping to a 24.
For luggage I use a small tank bag for mine, and BMW sells you a big tail bag for touring. Yes, straight from BMW, I have it and it doesn't make it a GS, but can perfectly tour on it. And if you back hurts, you are not going fast enough.
Bikes being an emotional purchase is the truest thing I've ever heard. I have a small car a 2010 Toyota Mark X that I use for shopping, business meetings and outing with friends because almost always someone needs a ride back home but when I'm feeling devious I pop out my Zx6r for some play. One of the funnest things is to take it to my uni and seeing peoples reactions. You feel so badass and like the Main Character. (i'm an attention whore)

I've been riding a sports bicycle ever since high school, a race bike feels right at home for me. I can go all day on these without back pain or anyhting, so it all comes down to what you're used to and willing to adapt to. I've ridden tourers and sports tourers but they all feel like my mom's bicycle, too sluggish to my taste.
I have a 2018 s1000rr, most of the time when I take her out I put down big miles, 8 hour rides when I can. I love it, so comfortable on it. I like to think it's a civilised demon, nice at low revs but a monster at high revs
well, i love 2017gsxr 1000, it is The super sport to get for me because it has ABS/TC, 3 mods and some other thing and that's all. Modern tech is joust too much. Bike was always about ride, speed and power, you were in control. Today you can set with your fingi a 100 diferent bs and feel safe doing too much speed, because it tell's you you can, instead your feel. I get it in the Adventure segment, but for this much money, you can buy a car, witch is 100% better daily. You dont need 200+ hp bike for daily.
In europe ...driving a car is horror couse of the traffic jams in cities with small street and cramped spaces. Everything is better than a car in europe ...atleast in big cities .

You sure? I always thought that was only the last known location so you can find back to your bike in a city or so. I don’t think it actively sends its location, so if someone steals it, you wouldn’t know where it went. Maybe I’m wrong…
I just bought a black 1999 Honda VFR-800 in excellent condition, and it is 4 times the bike as my 2021 390 Duke. I love it! Need to make a few adjustments, but I am looking forward to riding it.
Well I certainly cannot daily race boots and full leathers fuck that. As I have stuff to do when going on my bike, I very rarely go on it for a leisure ride. I'm more of an urban but protective casual attire guy. Because your not on a race track. I have seen many riders commuting in full leathers and race boots and I cringe everytime.
It's for protection not for racing. The reason why motorcycle racers where them is because they provide the most protection out of anything. I wear full leathers and boots every single ride because if i go down at least I'm prepared. I don't see what is so cringy about being protected knowing I'm about to go 90-100mph in the twisty roads where no one is around me for miles.

S1000RR is one WSBK away from becoming one of the greatest if not the best sports bike ever made. Period.

I had 8500 on my 22s1k when i decided to get a 23 s1k last year and have 4700 thus far. Those miles vary from the mountains to city 👍
Hell, you can daily ride a 2023 ducati V4R because it's definately comfortable enough to do it; although not as comfortable as a s1000rr

BMW S1K is a great daily, I had a 3rd Gen. rode it to work often, put 10k miles on it within a year. Just gets a little hot

I've always added panniers to my sportbikes. They are both useful and provide a small amount of plausible deniability towards cops who pull you over.

I just traded my 21 XR M for a 24 S1000RR and had an HP4 before that. XR is a good bike but I need the tuck.
well, i love 2017gsxr 1000, it is The super sport to get for me because it has ABS/TC, 3 mods and some other thing and that's all. Modern tech is joust too much. Bike was always about ride, speed and power, you were in control. Today you can set with your fingi a 100 diferent bs and feel safe doing too much speed, because it tell's you you can, instead your feel. I get it in the Adventure segment, but for this much money, you can buy a car, witch is 100% better daily. You dont need 200+ hp bike for daily.
In europe ...driving a car is horror couse of the traffic jams in cities with small street and cramped spaces.
Everything is better than a car in europe ...atleast in big cities .

@@lt7367 You're right about a 30k bike ,but you also dont need a 150k car on streets or a lambo or a ferrari but people still buy them. Also s1000r is 16.400+ , if you can buy it and really want it ...why not get one ?
I mean for that money you cant get a decent hybrid car...and an electric...( except Dacia spring) ...is impossible .

You sure? I always thought that was only the last known location so you can find back to your bike in a city or so. I don’t think it actively sends its location, so if someone steals it, you wouldn’t know where it went. Maybe I’m wrong…
I just bought a black 1999 Honda VFR-800 in excellent condition, and it is 4 times the bike as my 2021 390 Duke.

Well I certainly cannot daily race boots and full leathers fuck that. As I have stuff to do when going on my bike, I very rarely go on it for a leisure ride.
I'm more of an urban but protective casual attire guy. Because your not on a race track. I have seen many riders commuting in full leathers and race boots and I cringe everytime.
It's for protection not for racing. The reason why motorcycle racers where them is because they provide the most protection out of anything. I wear full leathers and boots every single ride because if i go down at least I'm prepared. I don't see what is so cringy about being protected knowing I'm about to go 90-100mph in the twisty roads where no one is around me for miles.
@@thescientist8516 but going to a coffeeshop in full leathers isnt practical and going to a meeting either. In Asian countries they have stuff to do on their scooters but they dont wear attire like they are on a race track. But each to their own.
