All the professional installers I've seen put the primer/sealant near the edge of the window rather then close to the hole edge in the panel. Doing it away from the window edge leaves a large area for dirt and water to accumulate. And also a larger area of unsupported glass on the outside.
As soon as you said crow i knew 🤣 then i see the sniper tape which just confirmed the fact to me... just converted my own lwb renault trafic just installing the furniture and should be done this month as well ready for some winter camping with the old diesel heater, which is the video that helped me find your channel now ill be binging your entire van build today :) looks good so far and i totally agree with the other comment use a jigsaw...

Green issue tape been saving me loads 🤣🤣 thanks for the support! the heater install is a bit of a pig - just prepare your neck muscles for it! it’s pretty straightforward - but I did it the night before that massive storm came thru so was muddy soaked thru and dark - so if you can do it in the dry I would recommend it! haha
the rubber I used came in a standard length in the kit I ordered and it was about 300-400mm too long so was easy to just trim to length. does that answer your question? thanks. Rich

Bit late for me to change it now! 🤣🤣 it’s sealed top and bottom and sides with sealant anyway so I’m just going to roll with it 💪🏻

definitly use a jigsaw..grinder makes hot sparks what land on paintwork and burn into it then later rusts
safe to say i used a jigsaw on all the others! 🤣💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
