Thanks Mel, What a fun day it turned out to be, the window looks great, you know your stuff mate. That's a couple of beers I owe you...Steve.
It was my absolute pleasure buddy 👍🤓👍
Great video Mel packed with lots of useful information keep up the great work mate
Thanks, will do!
Nice one, Mel. You're getting an old hand at this glass work! Always nice to help out a mate 👍
Thank you buddy 👍🤓👍
Its good to see u back doing the business. You look content. Best wishes Mel.
Thanks so much!
We put the silicone on the van rather than glass then you know it lines up.
That rubber seal you put in pre window, wouldn’t it be better to have the joint at the bottom so water doesn’t pool and leak through the joint?? Just curious
I have no idea 🤷♂️
Nice 👍
Thanks ✌
Hi Mel
What was the wi dow trim you installed? Designed for single skin or double? And do you know how many mm width wise? I'm looking at either 12 or 17mm
And thanks for the video. Super useful
Cheers
Vicki
Hi Vicki the windows are designed specifically for the van the strip is just an additional non essential piece that I don’t always install it’s really down to you if you’re going to use it I’d say go for the wide one as its easier to use and will fit over double skinned panels. Take your time and be patient and you’ll be fine 👍🤓👍
There is a method where you can cut a template of the size you need… go inside and place it against the wall… then drill two holes about a foot apart… then take the template outside… and line to holes up….. you then have the place where it is exactly… that’s how I transfer a measurement from inside to outside…
Yeah I made a video doing that about 3 years ago
Could you please let me know if this window is dedicated for Master? If not who is the producer ?
Yes it is iv put link in the description of the video
Surely nobody in the history of van builds has cut a hole too big…. 😂
Know body I know 🤣😂🤣
Hi Mel just an idea that keeps popping up in my head.do you think that the one coat of paint you apply to bare metal after cutting and hole making is enough to protect the metal ???? I'm no expert myself, but it always leaves an element of doubt in my head. Might be worth researching this topic and make a video , just a thought.. great content mel keep up the good work 👍
As Mel usually uses hamarite I would guess it would be good as hamarite is both a primer and top coat in one for rusty railings and the like
Hi Mel great videos as always but I want to ask a quick question cos I know you like them have you an approximate time when you are going to release the video on charging your van batteries from an e/car charger? cheers in advance Dave from Wales
Hopefully very soon I’m still working on it 👍
Hi Mel. Another question. Do you agree its probably easier to bond the glass on the table rather than bond the van? Last one i did i bonded the van and kept thinking this would be better done like you did
Definitely put bond on glass
Would the mastic not be higher if you didn’t snip that guide off thus eliminating the need to make ‘V’ bigger on tube. ???
Yeah but it’s messy I forgot to mention that
Hi got a renault master 209 can't find glass Anywhere any help please
Good luck 🤞
Hi Mel..I got a movano van. Quick question if you can remember when you did this van. I have to use the bigger trim on the passengers side door seeing it's 2 skins. But on the drivers side as per your video. It looks like I will have 2 skins at the bottom of the panel and only one on the rest of it. So. Do I get the smaller or wider trim?
Or was your cut here above the 2 skin bit and so smaller trim only?
Thanks for your time
i think steve used the wide trim
@@BigVanSmallWorld thanks Mel 👍
Nice job but where are you? Looks like an old converted chicken shed?
That’s correct 👍 🐓🍗🍟🍽️
You should bring waffle on a Wednesday back
it will be back soon
Mel, where is my already favourite video how to charge leisure battery from EV point??? : ))
i'm still working on it
Hi Mel, good informative video as usual. What's happened to woffle on a Wednesday?
waffle on wednesday will return soon i just needed a break
@@BigVanSmallWorld understandable 👍.
I started my first van conversion last summer - a Renault Master, as here - and put a couple of bonded windows, as here. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why the window manufacturer didn't supply a paper template as it took a great deal of time & head scratching to get the hole cut-outs right. Anyhow it turned out they were easy compared with cutting hole an opening in the Master's roof for a Midi-Hekki roof light. The van roof is a profiled steel sheet but the arrangement has rectangular panels which are recessed downwards but then these panels have reinforcing ribs which go rise upward. The combined effect of the drop and rise creates a whole new level of challenge to positioning and seating a medium sized rooflight! After much head-scratching and swearing (I'd already bought the Heki) I dealt with it by cutting an opening following around inside the line of the recessed panel so as to leave a flange, or ledge. (The hole being larger than the Heki.) I then cut a stainless steel sheet to fit closely into the recess so as to rest on the flange - bedded on sealant - and anchored with self-tappers. The s/steel sheet was itself cut out with a hole sized to accept the Heki. All pretty tight - the s/s was pretty much all hole - only about 70mm wide along two sides and 50mm of the other two. It worked out really well but I wasn't expecting that level of problem having watched a couple of vids of other van folk fitting rooflights into other makes of van.
Great work buddy 😊never seen one of those tools before. Wish I was able to had help with mine. Your a diamond bud 😊🤛
Thanks 👍
Love those bonded windows. I ended up putting a few on my Maxus.
Hi there, I've been looking at the maxus to upgrade my van but been reading conflicting reviews? What you think about reliability?? Cheers brian
