I installed the first window in my Vivaro today, and this video was absolutely invaluable as reference material. Just the second one to do now (and all the other tasks! 😅).Thank you so much Dave, your content is excellent!
@@dave-watson Just watched the entire playlist. Some great conversions and you're just as much a skilled craftsman with wood as you are with your food! 😊
Got my LWB Trafic last month. Crisis with injectors leaking and rattles from 5th & 6th gear. Dealer to fix next week 🙏 under the '30 Day' rules. A pair of openers here in France €821.80 + fixing kit !😱. 2 openers + fix kit £315 inc UK p n p. from UK Glass. Ferry booked .... Windows in my Movano, the old fashioned type with rubber seals, a job for a pro. The cut-out had to be mm perfect. £90/window to fit ☹. These sealed windows a breeze to fit. Your vid 'The Bible' for installation, tho' I will probably put the sealant on the van rather than the glass. I don't trust my fingers not messing it up whilst carrying the window. I notice that nobody bothers to paint the cut edges of the steel. I will. Thanks for your excellent vids.
Dave, I LOVE your videos. My girlfriend and I are going (hopefully) to buy a Vivaro later this year. But - we're going to have to do a build literally 'on the fly' - start travelling - do a bit of build - keep travelling - do a bit of build (I'll spare you the details why). However some of the basics we'll have to do before we leave (e.g electrics). Thanks for being so methodical and comprehensive. This is going to be totally new for me; so it helps enormously to have a step-by-step guide. Cheers
Hi Orlando, Thanks for your comment and I hope the videos will be of use to you as you progress with your own van build. The best bet it to plan it all first and then just take it slow if you have not done such a thing before. In answer to your other comment the insulation material is just classed as shredded up bottles. Good luck with your build, hope it all works out well.
Hi Dave love the video's my wife & ! just bought a 2004 Vivaro and love the ideas you have and Yes we too are going to convert it into a day, Going to pinch a couple of your ideas if you don't mind lol.... looking forward to watching the rest of the video's
I’m starting this conversion process now Dave. I have no confidence in doing this myself. After watching you it has all changed and I’m going to give it a shot. Your great. Keep up the work buddy👍🏻
Just starting our Vivaro conversion... unfortunately had a few leaks and steering problems that we need to sort first but then we'll be on to the fun stuff! Great video, looking forward to the next.
I see you used sound deadening on panels but only smallish squares. Is there any additional benefits completely covering internal panels using sound deadening materials?
I think so long as the middle of the panel is covered to about 50% of the size of the panel it should be okay. You will get a bit better performance if you cover the whole panel, but the centre is the most important.
Hi, I got the cable here www.splitcharge.co.uk/product/thinwall-flat-twin-1-5mm%c2%b2-2-x-21-0-30-21-amp-cable/ and the grommets came from ebay, loads of different sizes to choose from. Hope that helps.
Thanks for a very detailed video, Dave. I installed everything in my van without drilling any holes. Did you consider running the cables, with protective split sheeting, through the roof channels?
Hi, Most of the cables are in the split conduit. But a hole and rubber grommet seemed like the best way to go for the solar wiring. Thanks for watching.

Many thanks....glad to hear the window went in well(always a daunting task). Good luck with the rest of the build.
Best video conversation I've seen on UA-cam so far. Fair play to you 👍👍👍🍀
Thanks very much Martin, Loads more videos to come.
I didn't realise you had a second channel. This conversion looks like great fun, and I'll be plowing through all this series!😁
Thanks....yes I have been converting vans for a while....the latest one is almost complete.

Welcome from the UK, I've never seen many with windows already in....some crew cabs but they usually have double sliding doors
Thanks for sharing, Im really enjoying these videos. I’m thinking about doing a conversion one day as well. Looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks a lot. It's a great project to do, I'll try to post a new video each week.

I just finished my Renault Trafic, same vehicle. Might give you some ideas? ua-cam.com/video/fXL1nKPzY8k/v-deo.html
brilliant video 👌✅
Thank you very much
There are other Vivaro's available with side windows. ?????????????
Love the channel, Dave 👍
What size trim do you use on the cut edge ?
Thanks a lot....I used a single skin trim.....not sure of the dimensions.
Great Video thanks Dave! We’re following along.
Thanks Lee. Lots more videos to come.
Great work dave 👌
Thanks a lot. Many more videos to come.
doing well Dave
Thanks. Long way to go but we will get there
Hi, very useful video! What brand are the windows?
hi, I got the windows from Vanpimps. Thanks for watching.
Does the trim join the two skins together?
The one I used is for the inner skin only.....but you can get a one that goes over both. Thanks.
Where did you purchase the 1.5mm and also the rubber grommets please 😁
Hi, I got the cable here www.splitcharge.co.uk/product/thinwall-flat-twin-1-5mm%c2%b2-2-x-21-0-30-21-amp-cable/
and the grommets came from ebay, loads of different sizes to choose from. Hope that helps.

Hi, Most of the cables are in the split conduit. But a hole and rubber grommet seemed like the best way to go for the solar wiring. Thanks for watching.
You didn't mention painting the bare edges of the metal after cutting the openings! That is crucial to avoid later corrosion.
Yes, I know that did not make it into the video but I always paint them with the black primer used for sticking the window on.
