    My left shoulder went in 2017. Fully recovered in 18 months. Was very stiff at first. My right one went July 2021 and is now defrosting! However, this side kept a little more range of motion but was a lot more painful. I am now 55 and had no problems with shoulders before. I'm not diabetic or hypothyroid but these conditions run in my family on my father's side.

    Dr., you just saved my case presentation. I was struggling because my sttt test on my patient showed active pain but no resisted pain. I was so confused so I tested multiple times. thx again!

Scares to think I may not get full range of motion. Seeing physical therapist as well. Has me doing exercises and doing some hard manipulation

    Hey sir. I'm a physiotherapy student(about to get graduate).I watch almost all your videos and they are very helpful to get practical knowledge and literally i learnt all the special tests for my practical exams from your channel. I wanna know how did you started your channel? I wanna start my channel on the same kinda physiotherapy assesment and treatment techniques. Please suggest something. I'm just a beginner for this video kinda stuff. About how much views did you get on your videos in beginning? It would be great if you suggest me how to make and grow my channel on physiotherapy techniques and such stuff. Thanks.

    The idea of the channel is very beautiful & it helps me a lot as a physical therapy student in the physical assessment .... but I think that it should be organized more .... like to talk about regions of body in the form of series ....
    Like shoulder region .... a brief anatomical introduction ... then scapulo-humeral rhythm ... then the normal range of motion of each joint of the complex ... and the dysfunction of each joint & the illustration of that dysfunction ... & then the assessment
    That may make the channel pure educational channel .. in my opinion ..... i hope so & thank you a lot

      Thanks for the comment
      If our Check the playlist section or our website you’ll find all videos organized by body region and from basic to special testing
      We are currently working more on videos on describing different pathologies and give more background info
      So we believe it is pretty organized

  • @gizmokaiba
    @gizmokaiba 6 років тому +7

    Another finding is changed humero/scapular rythm. If you palpate the tip of of scapulae and at the same time perform an passiv abduction of the arm, you will find that scapulae starts to rotate already at about 30 degrees abduction when the normal is about 80-80 degrees, due to capsular thightness.

    • @Physiotutors
      @Physiotutors  6 років тому

      Makes sense. The only question is how reliable this is given that almost everyone has a different scapulohumeral rhythm.

    • @gizmokaiba
      @gizmokaiba 6 років тому +2

      This finding you will only find in shoulders with joint disseases (severe arthrosis, capsulitis). We´re not talking subtle differenses compared to normal. Movement of scapulae already at 20-40 degrees. It´s one pieace of the puzzle that´s often overlooked.

    Hello again,
    Thank you for another good video. I have some questions though.
    Can you only perform this test passively? Do you have to look at active motion for the three planes as well?
    Why did you test abduction at 90 degrees? Is this to test the supraspinatus? Did you have your hands placed there to test end-feel also?
    What about flexion too, at 90 degrees as well?
    Apologies for the questions, I’m a new student.
    Thank you Physiotutors.

      Adduction yes, endorotation no as you already measure exorotation in the horizontal plane. In theory extension could be measured as well.

    Would there also be inflammatory signs in frozen shoulder? I. E. Pain at night or pain at rest?

    • @Physiotutors

    I have limitation in abduction also. When im at about 45 degrees angle my humerus starts to tilt towards my neck. And my scapula tilts with my humerus from about 25 degrees. So u can clearly see a lump on my shoulder when im at almost 90 degrees. Cant lift it any higher. Doctors did several tests even Fysiotherapists. They all told me i dont have a frozen shoulder but i dont agree with them.
    I had an athroscopie in my right shoulder where they removed my inflammated bursa. After operation pain stayed for almost 4 months while shoulder started to freeze up. Had fysio from almost the beginning btw.
    Now pain in restmode is gone. Only sharp pain when i reach out or try to go across a certain angle. Docters are to stubborn to admit they are wrong its rly a shame.

    Long Term frozen Shoulder Treatment Success case
    A 42-year-old Ms. Kerr, with a history of diabetes, has been suffering from shoulder pain for many years, and her right shoulder hurts when she rotates her hair out of the comb. There have been clinic visits for acupuncture, small knife needles, glucosamine injections, high energy lasers, Prolotherapy therapy, platelet injections, ultrasound, but none have worked. After a referral from a friend, she came to the SHie Shang Te Clinic. She had a hunchback in her cervical spine after being examined by Dr. Shie.
    1. Cervical nerve compression is relieved by cervical injection with an epidural injection.
    2. Autonomic dysregulation, release of autonomic nerve adhesions with astrocystic nerve block.
    3. The adhesion of the shallow fascia of the right shoulder joint is loosened by extracorporeal shock waves.
    4. Deep shoulder joint adhesions are relieved by dilation of the shoulder joint capsule.
    5. Distal fascial adhesion with acupuncture and qi therapy.
    After one session, she was immediately able to comb her hair and resolve her years of shoulder pain.

      I have a question: I had not been exercising much during Covid pandemic period, then I thought to start doing my normal (to Me) backwards push ups on the side of my tub. To strengthen my triceps and shoulders. Usually I would do 20 rep’s 2-3 times in the morning or evening.
      After not doing any of these backwards push-ups for 6-8 months I started again sparingly, I wouldn’t do as many times a week. I would do more rep’s about 35-45 at a time, but only once and a few times I would slow them down or extend my body closer to the bottom/floor.
      I felt pain and knew I should stop. And I have been experiencing pain and limited range of motion ever since; with weakness.
