I drive a 2019 Encore daily as a commute vehicle. It zips thru traffic with its small size, gets over 30mpg average and the little 138hp engine does a perfectly adequate job of moving it along. This new model looks much better and the interior is a big step up. The ST trim looks like a great middle ground. At 73k miles over the last 3 1/2 years with no issues, this may well be my new daily driver.
@Braeton Wilson ,not really. I bought this encore originally for my daughter. She drove it for 3 years and wasn't gentle with it and put 69k miles on it in that time. I have put another 4k on it since she gave it back after getting a bigger vehicle. It runs and drives perfect, has all the room I need for a daily commute vehicle ( 80 miles a day) most of what I have read seems to show a lifespan of about 200k miles with just normal maintenance. I did do a 4 wheel brake job and fluid flush and refill at 72k miles. Still had the original pads..lol. Next week I am doing a transmission fluid drain and filter replacement. Just normal maintenance to keep it going. It is paid for so I'm just going to keep driving it until it's too expensive to repair. If I can get 5 more years out of it I will be beyond happy.

The engine may seem small in this but when you compare its hp at 136-137 hp and 162 lb ft to some direct competition and tweeners that border the Subcompact/Compact Class its not bad at all and the turbo will really help. Yes its a 3 cylinder and the competition is 4 cylinders it shouldn’t make much difference and should hopefully help MPGs. For some examples the Hyundai Venue and Nissan Kicks have around 121-122 hp & 113-114 lb ft no turbo, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross 152 hp & 184 lb ft turbo, Mitsubishi Outlander Sport 148 hp & 145 lb ft (168 hp optional) no turbo, Honda HRV 158 hp & 138 lb ft no turbo, Kia Soul 147 hp & 132 lb ft no turbo, Subaru Crosstrek 152 hp & 145 lb ft (182 hp optional) no turbo, and these are just some examples. So you can see its very inline with the competition and with its horsepower and torque figures. Some people will want AWD but its not available in the Envista just like the Kicks, Venue and Soul. I think this is a sharp vehicle and the Avenir trim is gorgeous and even with its optional package(s) all checked its just over $31,000.00 for a top trim fully loaded model! Not bad at all! No the Chevy Trax (the Envistas Sister Vehicle) comes in at just under $27,000.00 for a fully loaded top trim ACTIVE or 2RS trim with all of its option package(s) checked which is an amazing deal. Sure the TRAX is more utilitarian, and im sure a little less quiet and I am sure the Buick will have a few features unavailable to the TRAX that the Envista will have just like they do it with the Buick Encore GX & Chevy Trail Blazer. However both of these vehicles are a steal in terms of price, features, mpg and most of all the size inside and out. The rear seats are huge compared to most of the direct competitors
Good design, great price, perfect size. Only issue for some will be the lack of AWD. Snow tires would negate the need for AWD for the vast majority of people, but there will still be many buyers who overlook this vehicle simply because it lacks that feature.

I think the MPG’s don’t sound right in today’s world especially a 1.2 Turbo 3 cyl FWD only. Sub Compact sized cars should be getting 40MPG Minimum in 2023
The gas mileage of this is comparable to other sub-compact crossovers on the market that aren't hybrids - The numbers aren't much different from something like a Honda HR-V, etc.
Lost me at the engine. That’s a deal breaker for me considering this will easily each over 30k with taxes with that small ass engine 🤣 but the styling and proportions are great. Atleast offer a 4cylinder with the higher displacement
Why couldn't they offer the 1.5 four cylinder that is in the Equinox, and rated at 175 hp as an option? I rented a Equinox with the 1.5 turbo, and it moved it rather well. I was surprised, and it got 26 mpg city and highway combined. The Equinox also had a lot of room inside.
I love how this car looks and it’s actually affordable for me, I’ve only owned used cars. These 3 cylinder engines are quite peppy though, GM claims the design of this engine provides good acceleration. If it’s the same engine as the new trax, it’s 0-60 time is 8 1/2 seconds and this Envista is lighter in weight. That’s a good 0-60 time if you compare it to other cars in this category. I’m going to test drive it when it arrives at the dealer and I’ll provide an update 😊
I don’t understand how people complain about vehicles prices and when manufacturers make lower priced ones they complain about how they made it inexpensive (powertrain).
This was a good preview. Good job! Looks like a lot of car & style for the money. I don't love the "floating roof" design- all that much (it's been done too often), but this certainly does not look like an entry level car, & it's not stubby/frumpy looking like the original Encore which it's replacing. I still would give the styling nod to the Trax over this... but at least this looks a bit different. Glad to see a new Buick, & one that is not made in China!
Buick is amazing value. People thinking Buick is for old people need to get a life. I used to drive an Acura SUV, traded it for a new Buick sedan (I wish they kept sedans) and never looked back. GM improved so much compared to 2000s and 2010s.
For a Buick? 23k is actually way way way too cheap for a Buick. Do you know all the extra touches a Buick gets over a Chevy. And I’m NOT NOT NOT a gm man but honesty is honesty. You just need a better job or A job . Everyone here is praising its price.

I miss the days when luxury cars looked like luxury cars, before children got their hands on them and demanded they all look like sports cars. "That's a grandpa car!" And? Why do we always have to market to Zoomers? Some people just want a comfortable car. Not everyone wants to pretend they're Vin Diesel in a high speed chase. I'm so frustrated that sedans are going away, because as a disabled person when chronic pain, they were perfect for me. My first car was a Chrysler New Yorker with velour seats. If that's not everyone's thing, fine. But when every car looks like a Honda or Toyota knock off, I have a serious problem. I drove an Integra in my teens, and enjoyed it, but I'm not 16 anymore and I'm tired of car manufacturers only marketing to kids. The same kids screaming about "driving dynamics" and "boring cars" are the same ones causing my insurance to go up. I don't care about the body style. I'll let the Zoomers worry about that.

GM should actually manufacture that avenir concept from a couple of years back it won't look out of place today. That car was a knock out. It's a shame it never saw the light of day
Nice design. BUT it looks exactly like the new Encore. The fear here is that the whole Buick lineup will look exactly the same in different sizes. They need to show a little to differentiate the multiple models. Not size a size difference. That being said, I love Buicks and hope they accomplish what they are trying to do.
One small step up from a Chevy Trax Activ which I just took delivery of yesterday. If I could have waited until July and was OK with an extra 4 grand or so I would have liked the light color seats and power liftgate which the Trax doesn't have available. I assume these will also get a crappy "Market Adjustment Fee" like the Trax.
One thing we can all agree on is that once this car is on the highways and byways of our beloved cities and precious nation it will help to make our roads look even more fresh, modern and beautiful. May The LORD GOD bless the USA 🙏🏼🦅🇺🇸
I’d love it, in this EV era, if Buick would re-introduce the Electra 225 badge in some way. That might find some traction and remind the old folks of when American car brands set the precedent.
Perfect sized car. This is actually a crossover. What most companies pitch as crossovers are actually small SUVs. I wish this had a hybrid option. Cars shouldn’t be getting anything less thaj 38-42mpg city these days.
...Seriously GM? The brake lights in the bumper like the Bolt EUV? Shaking my head. Put the damn brake lights and turn signals above where they should be - in other driver's line of sight where they're expecting to see them. While you're at it, make the signal indicators amber. To make it even worse, you're still using incandescent bulbs for brake lights for a 2024 model vehicle? Tired of so many vehicles having safety lights down so low so they can make the running lights thin. Favoring aesthetics over safety and function. Otherwise, this should sell well and is well done. Should have been offered in an EV though. Buick's behind the pack and won't be on my list for possible future purchase until then.
He said a lot of car for very little money…I agree at the base trim but not at the Avenir for $30k. Why are companies not offering ventilated seats but heated seats for leather (or faux leather) ? The warm states NEED ventilated seats when it’s leather.
Yea ventilated seats really helps when it’s 100+ for 4-5 months a year like it is here in Texas. I have an old 2005 Lexus ES330 with heated/ cooled seats and ice cold AC. You’d think 18 years later it would be standard on any vehicle that is trying to be upmarket. I’d rather have cloth seats then fake leather without ventilation.

That engine is overworked thts y lol
The gas mileage of this is comparable to other sub-compact crossovers on the market that aren't hybrids - The numbers aren't much different from something like a Honda HR-V, etc.
Looks spectacular, especially for the price! Hopefully the first Ultium Buick looks very similar.
Damn, I sound like one of the old ladies from the old Buick commercial. That's a Buick?!
Buick looking good again!!
Let's put that GM 4 cylinder turbo and you have a SUPERSTAR on your hands!!
Make that a 2.0 4cylinder rated at 250 hp. Then you would have something.
Not the direction the industry is going. after 1.2 3 cylinder, it's Electric
@@patcurrie9888 they should have hybrid with it or plug-in hybrid
They nailed it with the looks on this.
Bc why is a “luxury” brand worrying about starting prices? If Buick wants to be Chevy then they shouldn’t even exist.
@@teeydarkis6685 because every brand has a cheap entry in their lineup
@@djncrti2860 Less and less these days as sedans are going away.
I love the move by Buick to an updated lineup!!!
Great review!
Aside from the lovely car. I must say, I really like the new Buick badge. Looks great!
Is the st version interior the same as the avenir?
This is the one for me , Buick has been producing stunning vehicles, thanks GM.
Hope they pay you to say that otherwise u a fooooo
Really? A 3 CYLINDER ENGINE?
It’s already on sale in China with a Turbo 4.
Ya 40 mpg let’s go baby!!
“A high end purse” I’m dead
8:08
no rear wiper?
It’s a jacked up modern version of the 80’s -90’s Skyhawk hatchback 😆 love it
since the lower light is technically the headlight does that mean this will not come with foglights?
Do I get full Value Trade in for my 2002 Saab 93???
$23,495 for the base model! That's insane. I figured a car company would go against the grain and start giving buyers options for affordable cars.
For a Buick? 23k is actually way way way too cheap for a Buick. Do you know all the extra touches a Buick gets over a Chevy. And I’m NOT NOT NOT a gm man but honesty is honesty. You just need a better job or A job . Everyone here is praising its price.
It’s built by SAIC-GM 🇨🇳 Shanghai, keeps the prices down compared to building in the USA employing US workers at a living wage.
For some reason this front end is reminding me of the Urus. It looks nothing like it but yet thats the first thing that popped into my head when i saw it
WOW....shockingly nicer than the similar priced Trax....interesting! I wish it was a non turbo 4 cylinder though. I hope its reliable too.
For the horsepower, all three trim levels should come in under $20k not $30k!
You can get a FULLY LOADED top trim level Trex for under 24k
No you can’t, it does not come with all the features, you still have to add some packages to that.
The Avenir trim level starts at just a bit over $26K, before any additional packages or options.
@@brucekalter4206
That's overpriced for a 3 banger with less than 150hp.
Way over priced!
Don't get me wrong, it looks good. If it had a 6 cylinder or at least 200hp it would be reasonable.
But not with the current spec's.
The 3 banger and less than 150hp makes it basically a throw away with no resell value.
Along with Roman& Tommy And Alex Sofyan, you guys are The Best in the business!
How about Hoovies Garage, Savage Geese, Regular Car Reviews, The Smoking Tire, and the Canadians like The Straight Pipes, and Throttle House ?? I feel like those are also good automotive reviewers.
Is This Available In USA or China ?
This is the third review I watched of this car I got to fam of this car looks great, especially the seats the front and back seats are comfortable however I remembered the Ionic 6 model is very congested seats have nearly the same hp and torque in the ionic 6 and price is very high then this Buick Invista I like this car a lot everything is perfect this car thanks I enjoyed this review
Honestly for entry level this is pretty damn good
Really good looking vehicle! This and the Buick Envision are both such handsome cars.
It’s a good looking SUV. Only letdown is the powertrain, old GM chime, and interior switchgear.
Glad I'm not only one who was bothered by the old seatbelt chime. That's 20+ years old by now.
GM should actually manufacture that avenir concept from a couple of years back it won't look out of place today. That car was a knock out. It's a shame it never saw the light of day
I currently drive a 22 Encore GX, and I tell ya what if I am staying w/ Buick for my 5th Buick in a row. I am getting this in Avenir trim in the Blue.
Is this new Buick made in China?
Hi Rudy F. I'm Rudy B :). American auto makers never learn from their mistakes.
Why does it matter where it’s built? The Enclave is built in the U.S. and it’s absolute 🐶💩
It's from South Korea, the same plant that makes Trax. Both Trax and Envista are also on the same platform.
It’s also made at SAIC-GM in Shanghai, and is already available in the Chinese market, they get a turbo 4.
Wondering how That 1.0 3,cylinder will build power for our busy interstates.
SLOWLY..VERY SLOWLY! LOL.
I’m impressed ❤ I love it
Nice design. BUT it looks exactly like the new Encore. The fear here is that the whole Buick lineup will look exactly the same in different sizes. They need to show a little to differentiate the multiple models. Not size a size difference. That being said, I love Buicks and hope they accomplish what they are trying to do.
From the front yes but the encore doesn’t have a sloping rear.
@@dillonh321 true. But all in all, very similar. I’m excited to see them in person though and hope I’m wrong.
Very nice and practical.
Looks beautiful
I really like this. Just wish there was an AWD version.
Holy goodness that is gorgeous. Replacement for my Arteon???
I am surprised that with the current "going EV" trend, that they did not make this an EV from the get-go.
I concur. 1.2 probably won't last too long, EV would have been a game changer.
Would be interested if it had something other than a lawnmower engine available.
It looks fantastic and the price is damn good! I just wish they would’ve gave it at least 150 HP or whatever!
1.2 liter, 3 cylinder is about a tiny combustion can go before all electric. It's coming
4:36 rear indicator lights are red and they're in the bumper. Double fail. Nice job, Buick!
They also stopped making the Le Sabre which was a very popular car. The Regal was another name that ran for a very long duration, and the Century.
@@ericknoblauch9195 Don't forget Park Aves
Perfect sized car. This is actually a crossover. What most companies pitch as crossovers are actually small SUVs. I wish this had a hybrid option. Cars shouldn’t be getting anything less thaj 38-42mpg city these days.
I love it...I really want one....I love my Buick 2016 it time for a new one
...Seriously GM? The brake lights in the bumper like the Bolt EUV? Shaking my head. Put the damn brake lights and turn signals above where they should be - in other driver's line of sight where they're expecting to see them. While you're at it, make the signal indicators amber. To make it even worse, you're still using incandescent bulbs for brake lights for a 2024 model vehicle? Tired of so many vehicles having safety lights down so low so they can make the running lights thin. Favoring aesthetics over safety and function.
Otherwise, this should sell well and is well done. Should have been offered in an EV though. Buick's behind the pack and won't be on my list for possible future purchase until then.
i would LOVE to buy this car. but no way im buying a 3 cylinder.
In China it has a Turbo 4, not sure why we are only getting the 3.
These are going to have turbo problems like the Trax and Encore. These are underpowered vehicles that are only as good as their warranties…
Made by SAIC-GM in Shanghai 😊
Wow wow this looks good for a Buick
This looks really good
He said a lot of car for very little money…I agree at the base trim but not at the Avenir for $30k.
@@SunnynPhilly yeah I agree, I’m not sure why they are going away from cloth. I’m in AZ and know your pain lol
Well damn. Show out Buick. They did a good job!
Wow... very impressive!
A car for the masses. It should be a hybrid, but it's still great for most people that just want to get from point "A" to point "B".
From the rear looks like a lifted Integra
surprised they used the new tri-shield badge (from the Wildcat) on their lowest priced vehicles first. This seems unique among automakers.
Thats a really good price.
Please please please please, be reliable! I never asked you for anything Buick! That’s like everything I want it in a car! If it was hybrid it would be amazing, but that’s okay! I can pass that. I will probably wait like one year to buy it, but it’s already in my list! I love the design and the interior and everything about this car! It’s so lovely!
It’s built by SAIC-GM 🇨🇳 in Shanghai. Definitely a striking design for the price. I saw in China they get a larger 1.5l turbo 4, not sure why the US only get a 3 cylinder engine.
@@SunnynPhilly that’s good to know! I’m gonna look it up if they have any statistics about its reliability. Thank you for the information, I didn’t know that!
@@SunnynPhilly I forgot to mention, I think they changed motor to try to keep the lower cost in the US, and maybe due the audience they are focusing on it, I’m not sure. Even tho I live in the US I’m originally from Brazil and sometimes they sell the same car with a different engine just because of the audience their are focusing on it.
