This may be the most hauntingly beautiful song I've ever heard
The Live in Gdansk version with complete Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra is another level. And...David's outro solo with classical guitar is sublime. A real tearjerker. 😢
Así es en erecto.....
Gilmour is widely regarded as one of the greatest guitarists ever. To me he’s also one of the great singers in rock history.
Nobody can make a guitar cry like David Gilmour 💜🥰👏
Never have seen this version before. Utterly lovely.
David Gilmour is in the studio recording.............Yay !!!!!
The pauses between the notes are more important than the notes themselves. This is particularly noticeable in this track
The word you were looking for was “perfect.”
A new album and tour for David Gilmour, let's not miss it❤
Such a timeless number, no matter what version David Gilmour or Pink Floyd play it in, so incredible, so hunting, so perfect ❤️⭐️
Haunting 😉
On piano and english horn was the late Michael Kamen. He was a famous film composer and the lady on cello is Caroline Dale is a famous English classical musician. You must do LIVE in Gdansk with full orchestra. Solos are incredible.
Also worth mentioning the choral group, with Sam Brown, Claudia Fontaine and Durga McBroom - all from the Pulse concert.
He was working on The wall album, but first time when I saw his genius was music from Lethal Weapon 2.
It's amazing how many musical instruments David Gilmour can play which is electric guitar, acoustic guitar, ,bass guitar keyboards, banjo, lap steel guitar ,mandolin, harmonica, drums and saxophone!
Moving and beautiful. Magic ❤
David Gilmour understands that we want to hear the song exactly like it was originally made! Not some new rendition 👏 Perfection 💜
The only High Hopes version you are missing to complete the repertoire is the Gdansk concert. The Pompeii version of High Hopes is unbelievable, but, I am still partial to the Gdansk performance. Recall he has the BPO bscking him at the Gdansk performance. Additionally, the classical outro solo in the Gdansk show is angelic.
The Gdańsk live version is my favourite because of the full orchestra and guitar solo at the end and is the one I listen to regularly.
Robert Wyatt curated this and other acoustic orchestral concerts. He was previously the drummer with Soft Machine and Matching Mole, two early 70s avant garde bands formed in Canterbury England. Unfortunately he fell from a window which left him paraplegic. He carried on making music but retired a little while ago.
I was at this show, it was amazing. This is a great song that sounds good in all the different versions.
wow not seen this version wow
Beautiful reaction as always guys. Every version of this song is special in its own way.
Creative liberties! The addition of the cello makes this version more mellow. In the "Live at Pompeii 2016" version, David adds a much longer acoustic guitar solo at the end of the song.
I saw this concert in Paris.. The best evening of my enter life...
Try the song "be crois entendre encore" by Sir David Gilmour from a French opera...
I second this!
Fabulous ❤❤❤
There was a universe...a planet and Pink Floyd. Thank you guys.❤❤
David Gilmour The Voice and Guitar of PinkFloyd
This version reflects David's age. As he has aged the versions have become more melancholy, more sadly reflective of the youthful years long ago left behind. The viola and oboe added a whole new and more poignant dimension to the song.
Music that just makes you Happy. Amazing 🙏😍😍
I think that this is the best arrangement of this song.
This whole concert is special.
Great, that you appreciate this track so much as i do! Love it, that you check out all Versions🤩 I saw this version very often, but this time i saw the first time Michael Kamen on Piano and Oboe. Due to the cirumstance that he died in 2003 and was a great composer, this Version is more precious
The pianist was Michael Kamen, a conductor and arranger who worked with Pink Floyd, Metallica, the Who, Led Zep, and others on numerous songs.
Live in Gdansk.....takes this fantastic piece of music to another level.
You guys have such great reactions!
Like many others suggested, you have yet to hear the best version of this song, live in Gdansk. Orchestra, amazing guitar by David, and of course, Rick Wright on the keyboards ❤️ even if you don't want another reaction on this channel, do yourself a favor, and listen to it 🙂
What an amazing performance, first time for me ,, Tnx guys ❤❤❤ magical
David is incredible! Love him and PF.
So intimate this onen so gentle, so private, Im lost in the rich broadband of emotions, thank you for this my dears! 💗
These best song is shine on you crazy damond
I suggest you watch David doing Sonnet 18. It was a special feature on this DVD and it is absolutely beautiful. I don’t think anyone has reacted to it yet. It will bring tears to your eyes.
Hello MerchantofAlba. I'm sure you'd like to hear and see Remember That Night is a live recording of Davis Gilmour's shows at the Royal Albert Hall on 29th, 30th and 31st May 2006 as part of his On an Island tour. The title was taken from a verse in the song "On an Island". There are several of Gilmour's guests who perform songs by Pink Floyd and David Gilmour. A great concert.
Beautiful reaction as usual you two.
I LOVE this version
Todos a los que la música nos toco en esta vida.., amamos a David Gilmour 😉…, ojalá no se nos vaya nunca, pero hizo más que suficiente por nosotros❤
Cello
Shine on You Crazy Diamond is another one you should revisit. Either version from Delicate Sound of Thunder or Pulse is excellent. Then follow it up with the version from Remember That Night. This is another "stripped down" arrangement that is exquisite.
The encore of Comfortably Numb - with very special guest - at the end this concert is well worth watching.
it's nice to see a cut down version of the songs to a more intimate expression of the song, it's totally different experience to major concerts. it's beautiful. but i love both versions of the songs
I have heard that Dale McMillan likes this song.
I do, too.
Hello ! i saw the same concert in Paris at the Palais des Congrés on November 2002 it was superb 🤩
If you look in the extras section of the DVD, you will find a gem. David doing Shakespears sonnet 18. You can also find it on UA-cam.
Will you go see him in concert on his upcoming tour? Guy proud will be touring with him. I know that much.
É realmente uma elevação espiritual ouvir essa música.
I always love to see you with pink floyd. Please try last echoes live in 2006 gilmour with wright.. love from srilanka. 🇱🇰
grandiose🤩🤩😍😍😍😍😍🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Nice version of the song, more of a classical feel to it with the string and reed ( ? Bassoon) instruments. What’s amazing is he’s surrounded by all these amazing well dressed talented musicians but he’s so humbling and plays in a T-shirt and jeans. He is a master guitarist and musician.
English Horn. Played by the genius that was Michael Kamen.
Thank you for this!! Please make Sonnet 18 from this same Dvd. 🙏
You need need react to the High Hopes version from Fleesh...(a duo band prog covers) ❤ and you need react to David Bowie and Gilmour together!!
Here's another female artist to give a listen, if interested. Pat Benatar - We Belong (Official Music Video)" (by the channel: Benatar Giraldo) --This song by Pat Benatar was released as the lead single from her sixth studio album called "Tropico" released 1984 and reached number #5 on The Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart. Pat Benatar is an American rock singer/songwriter with five platinum albums and two multi-platinum albums, her styles are considered hard-rock, rock and pop-rock. And as always, I enjoyed rocking with you both. Thanks for sharing.
Echtes live in gdansk is in the near......😊😊and high hohes in gdansk also ....
Pour moi c'est une des 2 versions que je préfère avec celle du royal Albert hall
Gilmour did another Meltdown concert (in which Kate Bush guested, sadly no official recording of it) and at one of these he did a short choral version of High Hopes, simply stunning: ua-cam.com/video/t1nHJXb9evQ/v-deo.htmlsi=4xdxYkNyI_zUMIzp
This is everything that Pink Floyd weren’t- stripped right back
do "atom heart mother"
Awesome reaction, as always! One of my favorite PF songs!! If any of you have not seen Gruhak’s cover of “High Hopes” here it is…ua-cam.com/video/WNLSQXGh-xI/v-deo.html&si=biLo4C6MLJ0o4U0T
Such a beautiful song! The outro is brilliant with the accordion, which takes it to another level, IMHO!!
I don't know if you do studio albums but Pink Floyd More album is listen
While the Pulse Version is „epic“, this version is more „intimate“. And it’s also slower and more laid back. While on Pulse the switches the accoustic guitar immediately to the steel lap, in this version he takes a full 16 bars to change the setup. The only „problem“ I have is that the tune of the bell is an octave too high. I prefer the larger, darker bell in the Pulse version. It‘s more haunting, in my opinion.
C'est un violoncelle
Makes me feel of delicate sounds of thunder.
