    Great information. In San Diego, we use Fox Farms potting soil called Happy Frog and cut it with additional perlite, vermiculite, pumice, and native soil. The dragon fruit like our mix. Thanks for sharing.

      Way too expensive a mix for DF, which is basically a weed.

      Have you considered what's going to happen 2 to 4 years down the road with a complex soil mix? Soil material breaks down unevenly over time. What do you plan on top dressing with when the soil breaks down? For this reason we keep it simple, Cow manure and add perlite when the compost holds water.

      @@Spicyexotics What is the mix ratio of Cow manure and perlite? 60/30? or 75/25? etc

    Can I use this soil mix when I plant in the ground here in cutler bay?

    • @Spicyexotics
      @Spicyexotics  3 роки тому

      Absolutely, but if your going direct into the ground I would stick with straight compost.

    Hello, thank you for sharing the info. For your dragonfruit pots do you cut them open in the bottom or you just make hole for the drainage?

    • @Spicyexotics
      @Spicyexotics  4 роки тому +1

      Two half inch drain holes in our 18 gallon container and four half inch holes in our 25 gallon containers

    I have a Bruni dragon fruit that's starting to take off with growth. Almost every segment of the branches has a little node of growth. Should I just let it go wild or break them off? I've heard some people have a 1 to 3 ratio when it comes to their dragon fruit branches. What would you suggest?

    Hows the result of this combination

    • @Spicyexotics
      @Spicyexotics  3 роки тому

      We don't use this combo every time, only when the compost holds too much water.

    Is there a way to determine the color of the dragon fruit by looking at a cutting?

    • @marcsworld1love
      @marcsworld1love 3 роки тому +1

      You can usually tell inside color by how the stems shape looks. I have red, and white. Both different stems, or can call them branches.

    What the mix of perlite to compost that you use?

    • @Spicyexotics
      @Spicyexotics  4 роки тому +1

      No exact measurement. Some batches of compost have different consistencies. I start off with 2 gallons to 50 pounds of soil and go from there.
