  • Here I will show you how to remove and install the alternator in your Honda Accord, this will work for Accord 2013 through 2017 and with a 4 cylinder 2.4 L engine. Your alternator may be bad if your battery light comes on and your car cuts off and when you try and turn it back on and it needs a jump. If your car does not cut off and your battery light does not come on and you just need a jump and it stays running it's more likely your battery.
    the alternator you'll need...

Hats off to you with the mobile auto repair. I did it for only a year. One year because it blasted my body to where I couldn't not be sore, and then got enough saved to rent an old gas station for my business. That was 24 years ago.
Anywho, I see this happen all the time and I'm sure you have too. If you would have disconnected the compressor sensor the harness is completely out of the way.
I make it a practice and have my two techs taught to evaluate your task and/or setting and then pull away and disconnect anything that will get in the way. Within reason, of course.

great video, love the detail in what you did, it woulda have been nice to see you actually do it as you described it. when u explain taking the belt off the alternator and releasing the tension of the band, seeing that done would be or would have been a lot more of an aid than the audible explanation on its own. 💙

I can understand not being able to without something to hold the camera for you while you do so. therefore great video ith working with what you have. Even without the visual aid the explanation was thorough enough to understand (Y)

    2 questions,
    1. I looked up the alternator and some say it doesn’t have charge, was that purchased by the person whose car you were fixing or by you ?
    2. I have 2016 Honda accord sport, manual transmission, it says it’s compatible but it’s for automatic transmission, will it still work?
    Thank you

You can pull the bottom alternator bolt without removing the tensioner just hold it like you are taking the belt of and it will expose the bottom bolt for removal.

Changed mine 42 minutes that’s out with the old one in with the new bottom 12 mm bolt on the for the pully I used a 1/4 ratchet with a 3/8 adapter with a short 12mm socket when I get that bolt tightened I switched out the short socket for a 12 mm deep socket still using the 3/8 adapter then finished it off it saves so much time. Just a tip. I heard many people having problems with that lower pully bolt.

As far as I’m concerned, the one main only real difference in manufacturing differences, is between the CVT and the 6MT model.
I have the 6-speed manual model, so it’s a bit harder to find the right kind of alternator. It’s shaped a bit different and whatnot.

@cm1133 Same situation as you with new batteries going dead. Check the alternator voltage using a multimeter. Set it to the 15V DC setting and check it off the terminals while running. It should read somewhere around 14V-14.5V. If much less than that, then the alternator isn't able to recharge the battery well while running. Eventually the battery will die. Mine is putting out only 12.5V so alternator is bad.

If you have $500-600+ to spend on labor and OEM parts, it could even be ~$800 for the job at a Honda dealership. If you can DIY the job from home, save yourself $300-400+ by buying a generic alternator, and getting the right tools to DIY the job all by yourself!!
My job is gonna cost me about $75 all by myself from home!!!!! You definitely can’t beat that!!
