@The Godless I mean, it's not like we can do anything about the substance. That's why we get our news from comedy shows. Without the laughs, it'd just be depressing that we live in a dystopia of stupidity.
I was disappointed to find out it wasn't real, Big Money Salvia would've said fuck it and made an episode of an actual podcast just for the sake of the joke.
As an Iranian, loved reading all comments, the new generation is a really good hope for us all. Actually was surprised at first for not seeing any nonsense hate comments which is great. I have many friends from US, but I don’t remember asking or thinking about our government’s policies when we made friends. I believe there are 2 sides which must be kept separated, people and governments.. peace out
what so you say about the "right to dress for women" ? #whereisshe . you can never keep state and people separate. it is because of your taxes ,your supreme leader is able to say anything. #dumbIrandeal .
junnu ravi kumar we have so many stupid laws like the way women must dress, compulsory hijab, not allowing women to enter stadiums.. and the list goes on and on.. I understand your point and I’m agreed. What I said is more of a desire. Trust me, we do not want to be compared with our gov. We respect every country’s flag, we don’t burn it. What everyone sees is gov people doing it and showing to the World. I always feel ashamed watching these behaviors. I’m sorry to all American fellows. I’m sure good days are yet to come.
As an Indian, I agree. Also, our countries have had good relations; there's no need to point at external problems when we have our own issues to contend with in-state.
the skateboard joke roughly translates to “i’d put rougher griptape on the nose of my board so my foot doesn’t slip up if I start falling during a nose grind” for the 5 people scrolling this far down the comments
It becomes scarier. We have a feeling that the government is going to do what Russia did in the cold war and spend all of their money on the military than on the people. The price of bread has skyrocketed and so has everything else. We are screwed. Recently the Iranian air force attacked an American Battleship in the Persian Golf. If the Government keeps going like this we might end up in war, with nothing to eat. We will literally become Syria. Some of the tax money is used to help out other countries. I personally see I lot of correlation between today's Iran and the USSR in the cold war. To sum things up, the Government isn't spending its money on the people but on the military and other countries. The people have to pay thousands of rial to buy bread and the Government will most likely start to invest all of the countries money into nuclear weapons. The military has been attacking neutral ships and it looks like we are going into imminent war.
Not sure he was apologizing for Iran, it looked like he was just laying out the facts of the case, something you wont get from Trump and Fox news...if you are a Trump supporter I imagine facts aren't a high priority for you so a piece like this would seem like witchcraft
@@sirius1696 wow! 😳 I guess we got tired of waiting for the next crisis (after solving North Korea (more or less) and finishing up in the Middle East, more or less) so we created a crisis that wasn't really there. Wow. And thanks to Trump, that crisis probably became very real and it'll probably take forever to reforge the Iran Deal.
The only reason Muslims have sway over Saudi Arabia today is because we overthrew their moderate, democratic government in the 80s. Every time we interfere in such a huge way, we create a power vacuum that gets filled in less than optimal ways.
Rick 'The Greatest Poster' Ever you are so ignorant and stupid that it’s actually impressive. Please don’t ever set foot in a government building ever again. At least think before you do so
Not really. The US has no right to dictate what another country does or doesn't do. Not one bit. The US feeling dissatisfied is a bully being annoyed but Iran dissatisfied is a reasonable party being annoyed. Learn the fucking difference.
The man who looks at the sun during a solar eclipse when told not to, is going to decide if one of the most critical deals in Modern US Foreign Policy History should be reaffirmed. What a time to be alive.
Oh come on, Lichtenstein was a literal case of the treasure being the friend they made along the way. They deployed 80 men to guard a passage, but they never saw combat, and they brought a new friend home when they disbanded over the lack of a real threat.
Wait. So *Boris Johnson* thinks that countries shouldn't pull out of international agreements without some alternative plan in place? Really? Really, Boris? Wow.
As a proud Iranian-American, I'd like to take this chance to say much love to the people of every country and culture. Throughout my life, I've heard countless people praise Iranians and Persian culture in the United States and I've seen the admiration for Americans and Western culture from the people of Iran. To believe the citizens of any country are the same as their government is to believe the people of the United States are all proud supporters of Trump. It's never been that binary and it never will be. Good and bad exists everywhere. Peace and blessings to all the good people of Iran, the USA, Israel, Saudi Arabia, planet Earth. One love ✌🏼🌎.
Nothing - it was a Trump Quote ... he once hinted at that "Sweden incident" and noone in Sweden knew what he was talking about. He needed an example for terrorism, but had to make one up on the fly.
"We won't be babies anymore." Good lord.....does he ever _not_ engage in psychological projection? It sometimes seems like that's all he _ever_ does. It's like he's CONSTANTLY telling us who _he_ is....by saying what he thinks of _other_ people.
Its deadly talk, lives are at the stake when he spews that garbage rhetoric STILL. LOOK WHAT HAPPENED IN IRAN... Its deplorable and just painfully ignorant in the worse way
@@siamsurf I have not seen any indication that Ireland and Denmark want to leave the EU, I remember how the Irish mock Nigel farage for trying to convince them to do so
I am an Iranian, let me clarify some points for all of you who live elsewhere specially Americans, 1. Iranian people don't hate Americans, 2. Sanctions against Iran only hurt Iranian people not the government, in fact those who are connected tho the regime get stupidly rich as a result, 3. We are not as desperate as you think we are, I'm sure even in the US there are some talented skateboarders with homemade skateboards. Oh and one more thing: Next time you are filling a form on the Internet try to select Iran as your country, all the countries are there except for Iran, can you understand how humiliating that is, are they saying we don't even exist? don't you think that's racism? or when they banned us from entering the united states, what did we(Iranian people) ever do to deserve that? Bin Laden was from Saudi Arabia, and they are A-okay?
You should hate America, my man. And if not flat out hate, you should really hold it against Americans from taking away your democracy back in the 50's. John went over that history too briefly that you may have missed it if you blinked. Right now, the half of the US that want nothing more than you, and I mean you as in the population of Iran not just the corrupt regime, to become the next Iraq. I repeat, HALF THE COUNTRY WANTS YOU DEAD OR SUFFERING! And it's the half currently in power. You're probably young, and I support your decision to not follow the example of your bitter and conservative elders. However, some basic principles must last through generations, the important one here is that America has to answer for ruining your chances as a progressive+democratic country, turning you into the theocracy that you are today. AND THEY THINK IT'S YOUR FAULT FOR IT! Peace, my brother.
Man if US, especially Trump's US had any logic or a real concern for people of the world, they wouldn't be fighting 8 wars and killing innocent people with drones. This is pirate imperialism - all the evils of imperialism with a pirate code. US had only destroyed the world, toppled democracies and instated dictators. They never bother to understand or get to know the situation on the ground anywhere. They just form prejudices about places in their heads and are convinced they know more than people who actually live there because they have internet and live in the "greatest" country of the earth. They hung Saddam for the chemical weapons they themselves supplied. The CIA carries out chemical attacks ( allegedly) to keep the wars going so that their war machine can keep churning out money. US foreign policy is sick and US intervention has been and still is the biggest threat to world peace. And then the Us govt pretends to be the LEader of the free world. Not a single word in that sentence makes sense and not a single one is true.
As an Iranian who doesnt even like the current gov and wants reform. I support the deal. This is the best way for Iran to open up and step by step reform. The second you sanction the nation and isolate it youll make the gov hate you as well as the Iranian people, who's livelihood you just ruined.
Dariush Ashkani I agree completely. The liberal forces within Iran are getting to the point where they can say, "Look, we got sanctions removed when the hardliners couldn't and without a war, to boot!" Don't undermine them.
That has certainly been the case since Obama's terms in office. I dunno what it is about him that got their panties in such a bunch, but they've gone from the party of 'let's put more money and power in the hands of corporations' to that + piss on everything everywhere that anyone but them has done, regardless of its merit. It's just gotten so much more extreme and vitriolic in the last 10 years. Not that the democrats are that much better, they're clinging to the fading memory of a legacy whose like they'll never approach again, hung up on old ideas and desperately afraid of innovation, and with the advent of Neoliberalism are largely indistinguishable from Republicans in policy.
Steve Pittman No party is perfect but you kinda have to agree that Democrats are far better than Republicans in making America better. Republicans have a scandal after a scandal and they constantly lie, thats why people still have support in them, they fucking lie.
They mostly seem to have saner ideas (because most anything is saner than 'I know, let's give corporations all the power!'), but by and large they lack the political will or ability to enact them in anything but the most hamstrung, half-assed way. Meanwhile the Republicans keep gaining control (because that's what happens when you let corporate money into politics; the people interested in giving the corporations more money and power tend to get the most support). I know it swings back and forth, but this rightward swing has been particularly bad, and neoliberal democrats are just making it worse with their half-assed Republicanism when they're in control.
@@stevepittman3770 The parties work together to give the rich and corporations all the power. The Democrats aren't failing to stop the crazies. They're working to enable them. The Republican party's job is to indoctrinate the dumb with worship of the wealthy, and to keep a coalition with those already indoctrinated with some other bullshit, like white supremacy or fundamentalist religion. The Democratic Party's job is to gather and squander the political will and energy of the rest of us so we don't stop the dumbasses from voting to give the rich and corporations all the money, which Is power. How did he barely mention the most outrageous part of the "ludicrously short history" of US-Iran relations ... He says: "In 1953 the CIA helped organize a coup to depose Iran's democratically elected prime minister" This is so important. This is where it all began. The Shah's regime, the revolution, the Iran-Iraq war, the Gulf wars, ultimately ISIS. The destabilization of this whole region goes back to CIA/MI6 saying: "Look, this Mr Mosaddegh you elected as your president? He may be nice guy and all, but he seems to think that the oil under his feet belongs to the Iranian people, when of course we all know it belongs to British corporations ... soooo, he' gotta go" - Man, I wish John had elaborated on that ......
Does everyone here forget that it was the UK who convinced the US to do that? it isn't like the US just said one day "I am gonna start a coup in Iran!" The UK had stock in Iran and when they lost that stock, lied to the US and said Iran was supporting the Soviets. In 1953, communism was a very touchy subject.
First off Mossadegh was NOT democratically elected. Like the constitution required he was named by the Shah. Mossadegh however tried to topple the constitutional head of state and usurped powers (including Commander in Chief) and shut down the press. The Iranian constitution was modelled on the English: The King (in this case the Shah) in Parliament. That is, the King convenes the Parliament, appoints the Prime Minister submitted to him by the majority of the Parliament and calls new elections when there is no confidence in Parliamentary leadership. In 1953 he dissolved the Parliament to prevent them from passing a no-confidence resolution that would have ended his prime minister ship and led to a general election in which his party was almost certain to lose. On Oil the US and the Shah weren’t unfavourable to Mossadegh. They all wanted the British stranglehold to be broken. The result was not good at all for the British (who under PM Razmara would reluctantly make a 50/50 revenue deal)... the result was a Consortium of Oil companies producing the Oil for the new National Iranian Oil Company. The winners of this were Iran and the US. The Brits were relegated to the backseat.Mossadegh was driving the Iranian economy towards the abyss and allied with the Tudeh Communist Party. The US never interfered with Iran, but were invited by Iran in 1941, 42, 43, 46 and after specifically to reform their finances and military. This was widely popular in Iran, which back then was not at autocratic, but a constitutional monarchy. Even Mossadegh turned towards the US for military and financial help. America didn’t force themselves upon them. Mossadegh, as said, was illegally USURPING power. He dismissed the Parliament, made himself head of state, closed down the press etc. The United States were pursuing its Cold War interests, helped the constitutional Iranian government(who requested American help) and forced practically out the British. The British lost their status after 1953. The AIOC became BP. The Iranian Oil was produced in certain areas by a Consortium of US, Dutch, French and also (much diminished) British Petroleum. Meanwhile the Iranian NIOC was starting to develop other fields or contracting to other national oil companies. Iranian revenues soared. 1973 Iranian oil was effectively in Iranian hands and the soaring oil prices made Iran immensely wealthy. Iran was even developing oil for other countries and took over the British role of "Guardian of the Persian Gulf". The Brits were the biggest losers of 1953, right after the Soviets. And Really? The destabilization of that region is all down to the coup? So all those Arab-Israeli wars would never have happened? The intifadas would never have happened? Saddam would never have gassed the Kurds? The civil war in Algeria would never have happened? The Soviets would never have invaded Afghanistan?
Has anyone tried presenting Trump with the current deal but calling it the "Trump's Best Nuclear Deal"? I mean, he won't read it and I doubt he's read the current deal... it just might work.
We should literally do this, this is a good idea that might literally save our lives. It's like, nobody has even thought to take advantage of Trump's stupidity and ignorance to get what we want. All you have to do is stoke his ego and tell him this plan is something Obama wouldn't or couldn't do. He'll do it immediately.
Oh my God you brilliant intelligent human being! Really it took one random person on UA-cam to come up with something better than anything the Democrats have come up with.
vahidmirkhani I'm actually not being sarcastic. Both sides haven't found a way to get Trump to sign something and I'm surprised no one has thought of it.
-The U.S invades & occupies the 2 countries next to Iran. -Iran starts researching nuclear capabilities for deterrance. -The U.S imposes sanctions on Iran, refuses to comply with its signed agreement, and now make threats to invade it. Cool.
So true story. When this deal first came through I remember watching Fox News with my family and having a contributor talking about the “24 days” clause. He said (I kid you not); “That’s like giving a drug dealer 24 day’s notice before a search warrant. You know you can flush a not of nuclear dope down the toilet in 24 days” Even though I was a lot more right-leaning then than I am now, I still remember thinking; “wait, that’s definitely not how nuclear disposal works.” XD
I don't get John Bolton's logic here (if there is any). So, we should stage a coup against the current Iranian regime? If we do, history will probably repeat itself in 1 of 2 ways: 1) We install someone we like and they're most likely overthrown by the Iranian people while anti-US sentiment heightens (just like the situation with the Shah) or... 2) We don't come up with a concrete plan of how the local government will be handled until it's too late and the entire region is in shambles (just like Iraq and ISIS) Neither way is a good way to go.
I mean, in theory a coup could(!) work if they put someone in power who was actually popular with the people and then actually let them do whatever they liked. But historically speaking that has rarely been the case. If someone takes the risk of inciting a coup, they almost always wanted something of the place (in the case of the Middle East usually cheap oil or the oppression of certain groups like communists). And often destroyed the democratic system because, why do all that couping when your guy could be voted out of office in a few years? That's the reason it usually fails: because people can't keep their own stupid self-interests out of it. They rarely want to free people, they want obedient subjects. They are exchanging one tyrant for another and then wonder why things don't get better.
Armed Wombat I mean, in theory a coup could(!) work No there is no scenario where the US installs a puppet regime in Iran that ends well for anyone. While the Iranian people may not be happy with the Islamists in power that is a long way from wanting to be invaded by a foreign power in which millions of Iranian people would die. Were you not watching the last hundred years of US covert action? Can you name a single place where the overthrow by the CIA worked out well for the general population of that country? Why do we still act like we dont know what will happen after a a US instigated Coup? The fucking United States of Amnesia!
Did you watch the clip above? In any case Iran had the Shah imposed as its leader by the US and Great Britain rather than its democratically elected prime minister. This lead to hatred of the regime and the '79 Revolution.
"Good. Good. I'm glad those children are dead." - Jon Oliver I hope there is a kid out there who is awesome enough to use that as their yearbook quote.

Yep and its a shame it did not hit better.Iran is shit but the US are at their own fault because Iran was so fucked over by them (removing a democratic government, The Sha opressing the population to a grade where they stayed in the demonstrations against him when the army shot at them.I mean how desperate do you have to be to stick to the pope to get rid of your president? And the list goes further) I mean they have every right to hate the US for their crimes. Its like the yews have a reason to hate Hitler.
Logan Rau - I am! I’ve been trying to get to the perpetrator of the problem. I believe it’s Billionaire GOP donor Sheldon Adelson, who paid $30M to Netanyahu and $20M to tRump to get him to 1) move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem and 2) Take us Out of the JCPOA the Iran Nuclear Deal. Sheldon Adelson has said in the past that we should “send a Nuclear bomb to Iran” and sides with Netanyahu on Israel’s bombing of Iran in May 2018. He’s a huge GOP donor that has them in his back pocket and has donated millions to GOP candidates in the past, has backed tRump after he won the nomination, paid $100M smear campaign against Obama in 2012, and after the Koch brothers horrible Citizens United was passed by the Supreme Court by a 5-4 vote in 2010 which said Corporations are People, it gave Adelson the right to donate millions to Super PAC’s to push his Zionist agenda!

It lead to islamic revolution, yet, Iran is, in a lot of ways, more secular than US's ally Saudi Arabia. So, I don't think the real problem is Iran here.
Remember how trump supporters were freaking out about Hillary starting new wars and how she was a warhawk... Can't wait to hear trump supporters explain this mess.
Didn't Alex Jones had his "fuck Trump" moment for when Trump decided to not pull out of Syria? Honestly though, they will explain it pretty simple: Trump is starting a "good" war because he is a republican, while Hillary would have started a "bad" war because democrat. This is the fking reason they blamed Obama for a war Bush Jr. started. This is why Trumps approval raitng went up when he bombed Syria a few days ago, even though the fucktard in chief warned them over Twitter so the attack did virtually no damage. The rightwingers love war and violence, then just pretend to hate it, when it is about democrats.
My dad is a huge conservative and his explanation is that the deal is just giving them resources while they build bombs and the solution is to is basically hold them at gun point while having sanctions and daring them to build a bomb
Just rewatched this episode. Are we celebrating in the streets of Iran? Nope. Do we have a better agreement in place? Nuh uh. Everyone hates their Government. Everyone. And Iran is much better than other countries and we have evidence of that. Which country has Iran bombed in the last few years? How many has the US done? Wonderful. The only difference is the Us is richer hence its citizens are slightly happier. The only reason its richer is because of the weapons the US sells to other countries from the wars it creates. If the US was poor, they would see a coup too. But they're smart enough to make other countries lives miserable..
RSVDCN means that since facts have a bias towards John Oliver's message as opposed to their own message, they refuse to take him seriously to spite reality...
So what if he made fun of Iran? He's made fun of everyone, including the British, his own birth country. If you can't take a joke, you shouldn't be on the internet.
On 28 April 1951 the Shah appointed Mossadegh as Prime Minister after the Parliament of Iran nominated Mosaddegh by a vote of 79-12. Then 1 May, Mosaddegh nationalized the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, which led to the coup by the Brits & Americans
If Trump decided that 0 > 10, Kellyanne Conway would show up on CNN to remind everybody about Hillary Clinton’s emails. And his supporters would swallow it like a tic-tac.
hopefully the rest of the world will just ignore America on this and do their own deal, and maybe even make a better one that builds up trade connections and longer term trust.

You know we are living in great times when the president of the US says he studied something in great detail and people immediately start laughing -.-'
Maybe I was complaining about Trump being an awful president, or maybe I was disappointed with this times and with the fact that even if Trump studies something in detail, people would laugh at him just because they think is not that smart. Who knows? The only thing I'm sure of is that some youtube users like to think they smarter, assume stuff they're not certain of, and their comments show lack of social acceptance and (probably) intelligence ;-)
But Lincy, who closely tracks the U.S. counterproliferation effort against Iran, said that by letting so many men off the hook, and for such a wide range of offenses, Washington has effectively given its blessing to Iran’s continuing defiance of international laws.
So...what if other countries started to talk about overthrowing the Trump Administration because they disagree with his policies? There would be outrage. But we can flagrantly talk about overthrowing Governments here in the US...it's insanity.
Two reasons for that 1. We've unfortunately been doing it for 80 years... unfortunately and 2. And we are one of the strongest countries on Earth, but we've been able to rest in our laurels for years.

The one aspect of the deal that Oliver failed to mention is how their lifting of the sanctions actually had an impact on the daily lives of Americans. Before the Iran deal Americans were paying an average of $4.50 a gallon for gas. After the deal, that price dropped to $2 a gallon. The reintroduction of Iranian oil into the global market caused a sharp drop in the price of oil and an immediate economic relief to hundreds of millions of people. It also resulted in bankrupting Isis, who was selling stolen oil on the black market to buy weapons. When the price dropped, the risk of buying it on the black market outweighed the benefit of doing so and Isis literally could not sell oil to save their lives.
You're going to have a hard time convincing me that one producer selling to the US was enough to cut gas prices in half. How about OPEC's massive offloading of oil to drive down prices and knock out less efficient producers?
+A Treacherous Foe! *Before the Iran deal Americans were paying an average of $4.50 a gallon for gas. After the deal, that price dropped to $2 a gallon. The reintroduction of Iranian oil into the global market caused a sharp drop in the price of oil and an immediate economic relief to hundreds of millions of people.* What? No. Shale production causing SA to open their pipes to attempt to cut off further exploration and development by lowering the price which shale-produced oil could be sold (Thus making it unprofitable). SA knew that because of a development debt bubble in the shale market (Where they took out loans to develop based on specific price marks and profitably) they had a shot at "starving" the beast by keeping prices low. www.theguardian.com/business/2015/dec/07/opec-plan-kill-us-shale-oil-price-down-seven-year-low It had zero to do with Iran. I'm not sure where you heard that from. SA like doubled its production, which mixed with America becoming a fairly large exporter due to the massive amount of shale it has (America may have MORE oil that any other country now--it just was not accessible before). So no. This didn't do anything.
Majority of Iranians hate their own government.but the sanctions put a lot of pressure on them. Preventing them from overtrowing their regime. Also giving the government credibility.
Vahid Farahani i find it also unusual that a lot of the Iranians I met seems to be atheist. Did I just come across a minority or is this a thing there?
The majority of the US hates its own government, too. Iran has progressed to an increased amount of democratization. Is it perfect? No. However, it's better than it was 10 or 15 years ago. Violent overthrow of the regime should be the last thing on anyone's mind right now. The hard-liners in Iran will feel justified, nationalist fervor in Iran will swell, and we'll probably not see another liberal, conciliatory leader in Iran for the rest of Khamenei's lifetime.
Are you kidding me?! Liechtenstein is adorable. They sent out an army of 80 men and came back with 81 because they made a friend.

you can never keep state and people separate. it is because of your taxes ,your supreme leader is able to say anything. #dumbIrandeal .

Can I ask you something, how do Iranians feel about Iran deal being taken out? Relief? Alienated? Annoyed? so forth.

I am an Iranian, let me clarify some points for all of you who live elsewhere specially Americans,
1. Iranian people don't hate Americans,
2. Sanctions against Iran only hurt Iranian people not the government, in fact those who are connected tho the regime get stupidly rich as a result,
3. We are not as desperate as you think we are, I'm sure even in the US there are some talented skateboarders with homemade skateboards.
Oh and one more thing:
Next time you are filling a form on the Internet try to select Iran as your country, all the countries are there except for Iran, can you understand how humiliating that is, are they saying we don't even exist? don't you think that's racism?
or when they banned us from entering the united states, what did we(Iranian people) ever do to deserve that?
Peace, my brother.
i mean, Finland doesn't exist, but we have evidence of your country existing...
Maybe we should forgive each other. Iran is a tough situation. Not the people's fault tho.
Thank you, babakht, for clarifying!

Steve Pittman
No party is perfect but you kinda have to agree that Democrats are far better than Republicans in making America better.
The Dems are paid to lose, and to not get anything that their voters want accomplished when they win. It's the illusion of choice.
@@trentrubenacker9718 Yes, it's an illusion of choice, but not for the theoretical reasons you're thinking of. He may be nice guy and all, but he seems to think that the oil under his feet belongs to the Iranian people, when of course we all know it belongs to British corporations ... soooo, he' gotta go" - Man, I wish John had elaborated on that ......
americas cashing out all its bad karma
Well. it was, in his own words, a "ludicrously short history" of US-Iran relations.
@Rod13 Because Hezbollah is terrorist. So is Hamas. You talk nonsense.

Poro Puri well, at least he went out with a bang...
I don't get John Bolton's logic here (if there is any). So, we should stage a coup against the current Iranian regime? If we do, history will probably repeat itself in 1 of 2 ways:
1) We install someone we like and they're most likely overthrown by the Iranian people while anti-US sentiment heightens (just like the situation with the Shah) or...
2) We don't come up with a concrete plan of how the local government will be handled until it's too late and the entire region is in shambles (just like Iraq and ISIS)
Neither way is a good way to go.
Bolton's logic is that wars make money and win elections, at the trifling cost of a few hundred thousand peasants' lives.
Yeah Dorian that's why I hate that bastard and the guy he was cloned from ,dick cheney
If he could go all the way through this rationale, he couldn't become Trump's national security adviser in the first place.

I mean, in theory a coup could(!) work
No there is no scenario where the US installs a puppet regime in Iran that ends well for anyone.
John: "0 is less than 10, trust us, we ran the numbers on this ourselves."

Did you watch the clip above? In any case Iran had the Shah imposed as its leader by the US and Great Britain rather than its democratically elected prime minister. This lead to hatred of the regime and the '79 Revolution.

Well, if he actually start a war, his supporters will say
‘YEAH! TRUMP IS NO PUSSY LIKE THAT OBAMA!’

Two reasons for that

What? No. Shale production causing SA to open their pipes to attempt to cut off further exploration and development by lowering the price which shale-produced oil could be sold (Thus making it unprofitable). SA knew that because of a development debt bubble in the shale market (Where they took out loans to develop based on specific price marks and profitably) they had a shot at "starving" the beast by keeping prices low.
www.theguardian.com/business/2015/dec/07/opec-plan-kill-us-shale-oil-price-down-seven-year-low
It had zero to do with Iran. I'm not sure where you heard that from. SA like doubled its production, which mixed with America becoming a fairly large exporter due to the massive amount of shale it has (America may have MORE oil that any other country now--it just was not accessible before).
