This is great info for those of us with elderly parents. A Chromebook doesn't have big enough screen, but Chrome OS can be configured more safely for seniors, and since Chrome OS is a lot like Android, it's easier for my sisters and I to help my parents.

I am glad that I bought a Chromebook when it was on sale. At first, I couldn't stand it because of the lack of storage space: 16gb storage with only 2gb Ram. However, I realized that it doesn't require much space for Android apps and I can always add a USB drive if I need to download a large file. The built is robust and it is splash-proof. It also has an impressive battery life.
I recently purchased a basic Windows laptop with 4gb Ram and 64gb emmc drive. The Windows laptop performed horribly when compared to the Chromebook. -
    - Windows 10 laptop took 33.6 seconds to boot up to Windows login screen
    - Chromebook took 15.3 seconds to boot up to login screen
    - Windows 10 laptop can be unresponsive for multitasking due to the processing speed of the CPU
    - Chromebook are very responsive due to the low demand for processing.
-Windows 10 laptop battery only lasts 3 to 4 hours.
-Chromebook battery can last for 6 hours to continue use.
The Chromebook cost me $105 and the Windows 10 basic laptop cost me $200.
    I returned the Windows laptop

I use a Sabrent DS-WSPD USB-C Dock for several laptops including a couple of Chromebooks. It drives up to 2 4K monitions (I have it driving 2 32" FHD monitors), Gigabit Ethernet, Several USB ports that connect to cameras, mics, keyboard, mouse, a headset and speakers, and has power delivery up to 60 watts with an included power supply. A single USB-C connection and the laptop connects to everything and gets charged. Both Chromebooks feature 9th gen i5, 8gb ram, 128gb storage. The Acer with a quad core U series processor doesn't strain in the least. The Pixelbook Go with a dual core Y series processor is still a decent experience but its CPU is a lot more stressed and I see things run a bit slower, mouse and window movements can become jerky, and music streaming can have occasional dropouts. Enabling hyper threading helps but the dual core processor still maxes out occasionally. Still pretty impressed though.

I'm using a USB type C docking station. I have an older monitor with VGA hookup, I hardwire my ethernet for connection, have my full-sized keyboard and wired mouse connected to my dock. I like to work with my Chromebook closed. I usually do not need a 2 monitor set up, and my larger desktop monitor is all I really need. My question is this; when I shutdown my Chromebook, the only way I can start it up again is to open the lid. My Windows laptop at work allows me to just press the power button on the docking station, and it starts my laptop up. Is the only way to start up a Chromebook is by opening the lid?

And for a keyboard I'm using a Oon. silent keyboard. I'm still working out a way to upgrade the hardware and memory storage for now I'm just using OS and flash drives for memory. I'd appreciate any advice you can give me on set ups that would help me maneuver through fluidly. I mostly use it for social media networking live streams and I also wanting to use it for photo editing. think I got it but if you got time some review would still be helpful. Thanks.... seems to be an extended versus primary display issue.

So I tried hooking up by usbcC but my monitor does not have that option. I really really tried by bluetooth, (I am presently typing on a small ipad blueT KB) but windows does not want to recognize the signal. It does give me an 'unknown device' option but it still does not connect to my chromebook : (

Hi, Love you videos thank you. My problem is I have a Lenovo Chrome OS and a lenovo monitor. I connected it properly and it worked for a couple of weeks perfectly. Now when I turn on the monitor and lap top the monitor shows 'standby mode' . I cant get Lenovo help through chat as it's not in Australia yet. In display settings it does not have the setting for dual monitor or add a monitor.

Hello! Is it possible to connect a windows computer to a chrombook, with the chromebook being the larger screen? Or would I need to buy a bigger screen for my windows laptop if I need a bigger screen?

    • @jonathanilagan7778

Hi! You can use duet display to do this -- since chrome os can run Android apps, you can do this using the app (it's a paid app doe).

But how can I use different apps in different screens? For instance, I wanna watch a movie in the bigger screen as I'm writing a review in the laptop. Dunno how to do that, all I know is how to mirror the laptop.

    • @Eevnos
      @Eevnos  4 роки тому

Check out the screens starting around 3:07 in the video.
When you select the monitor for the 'Screen' setting you can choose to mirror or extend the display.
