- Right in the middle of the current crisis our world is currently facing right now, new modes of doing standard things are needed. Maybe one of the most pressing needs most people have is figuring out how to transition their work practices from office spaces to spaces in the home. Doing this drastically decreases the spread of the novel coronavirus and will be crucial to our country overcoming the spread of COVID-19. Here's what I've done that has worked well, and I hope there are some ideas in here that help you out, too.

For those of you watching in the year 2032, the reason he says “you know what I’m talking about, everyone knows, I cant say it because UA-cam is weird” he is talking about the 2020 coronavirus global pandemic, which you can read more about by looking it up on Wikipedia.
Dude, Wikipedia will probly be dead by then

@@trolleybee5515 Yes. How I wish the future will take a look back on an outdated video
Shh! The pandemic who must not be named.
Thanks man. That helped a lot now. I'm sure it would be helpful when we see this video after 20 years! :)
Great #WFH set up 👍🏻. I have been a #WFH worker for many years and the ability to quickly tear down, put it in a backpack and "call it a day" and disengage from office to home is HUGE. Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
There is something about watching you talk; like you are a long lost friend that I have never met. Your vibe is so soothing. Do you ever get upset?
I know right?
Thank you. I could tell you did this from your heart and were more concerned with your views mental health than trying to push products. I appreciate that and plan to follow your content because of this raw and real approach!
Wow, I wish I had had this when I was traveling extensively for work - especially that monitor. Thanks for putting this together.
I'm all in with Chromebooks! Love this channel!
Another great video, thank you! I really appreciate your common sense approach and sharing of new ideas. I've been getting into the Chromebook world more and more and I'm finding it works really well for me.
I've been working from home for a while but only when I need to be in for a delivery/plumber/whatever. Now that we are all relegated to our homes, I had to fashion something very similar on my kitchen table (using a low plant stand, a wired peripherals). Just like you said, setting it up, having it more like your normal office really makes a difference and allows me to be more productive.
Great video. I really like that aluminum stand. I already have a USB mouse & keyboard on my desk at home that I connect to my Chromebook through a hub, but that stand seems like a great idea. Thanks for posting this one!
This is definitely the kind of setup I want in my home or office. Definitely working to get those devices too. Love your content man!
Thank you for the ideas. I am always improving my desk. I was looking for something reliable and small as the second monitor you showed, as well as that laptop stand, that is very practical.
Great and helpful video! I really like your videos in general and this one in particular. I have a pixelbook go and love, love, love the keyboard, but I will definitely have to consider the logitech mouse and the Lepow monitor. Thanks!
Top Videos! Appreciate all of your professional reviews! KEEP SAFE during these difficult times 🙏
I came to this channel after seeing your review for the upcoming Lenovo Duet chromebook and this is just an incredible channel. I'm seriously considering getting a chromebook if just to simplify having both a 2-in-1 laptop and a tablet.
I'm also working from home, however I have a desktop that I'm using just because it's more powerful than my laptop, runs windows, and has three monitors; but it's also in my bedroom, so I definitely want to find something - especially if this goes into the summer - that will get me out of the backrooms for even just a day (seeing as my normal coffee shop adventures are done)
I've also been interested in expanding my laptop monitor, which I have an app to do it from my laptop to tablet, but it can be tricky especially when I was sitting on the couch. This is a perfect, quick, and simple set up that can easily be done anywhere.
I can't wait for the Duet to come out and to see what your opinion of the final release will be!
Quick battery tip...pliug your power brick in when the device is fully charged. Then the brick is only powering the device, not powering AND trying to charge at the same time.
This is a really great setup!
I've been thinking about something like this for a really long time but it seems that you've already got a really complete idea of a setup
thanks for sharing!
Many thanks as always for a great video: thoughtful advice for trying times. Regards and be well.
I work from home every day, so my routine is unaffected by the unspeakable, but I recently received a new Pixelbook Go, and the Go's effects are everything I hoped for and more. I installed Crouton on a Chromebook in the past but never made a habit of using it. Switching to Linux with Crouton was too much trouble, and my favorite Chromebook (Samsung's Luminous Titan) had an AMD processor. The Go is my first opportunity to use Linux more fully integrated with Chrome OS, and I love it. Full integration, which isn't far away now, will finally make Chrome OS and Linux a serious challenger to Windows on the desktop. This development is far more significant than Android apps IMO. I have a powerful command line, far more powerful than the Windows command line! I'm writing scripts again! Feels like old times ...
Honestly, my Asus Chromebox 3 has been super versatile at home and when traveling. Last year, while staying at hotels, I simply hooked it up to the TVs in the rooms I stayed at using HDMI. At home, I have it VESA mounted, so it takes zero space. For keyboard, I am using the Logitech K480 but really hope to pick up the K580 soon. For sound, I mostly use a Logitech H390 headset. I have a Type-C to Type-C cable to fast charge my smartphone while I'm working. I would say the only things I am missing are a USB 3.1 hub and some 3.1 MicroSD card readers to daisychain and provide some extra storage. (Not ready to swap the SSD, though I did expand the RAM a few months ago.)
The power brick is a great idea. I had never even thought of that.
My "coffee shop" setup is similar, just forgoing the laptop stand and the external keyboard. Laptop on the left, external monitor on the right in front of the mouse. If I don't bother with plugging in power, the whole thing takes maybe 15 seconds to unpack and set up. Super handy when I try to get out since I work from home normally. Unfortunately, that setup won't be getting used for a while.
Thanks for those great options and pointers! All the best to you!
I saw this video mid summer of 2020, and fully adopted this setup. It has been the best investment for WGH setup. I converted to this setup at the office as well, and can smoothly work on a hybrid schedule. Thank you for the great video!
Just what I needed, been surfing the net trying to find a video like this.
Me too.
thank for the talk about that!!! I know what you mean my living room becomes a work zone since I have access work at home I guess I have to get used to that
I bought the laptop stand per your recommendation a few months ago. It's been a lifesaver.
Great points, Robby! Very informative. Thanks for publishing it!
I really like that set up, I wish I had seen this before!
Thanks for the walk through and examples. Have a great day
I’ve watched a lot of desk setup. This is probably yet my favorite. So simplistic and minimal. Can be used anywhere to work. Thanks for sharing!
This is exactly the setup I need thanks!
Awesome setup you got there! Thanks for sharing.
I am actually sold on the setup and I have to admit I would not have think about it. This really looks like something that can help you do some work. Especially on those 13 inch 14 inch laptop.
Mature, down to earth & very easy to understand. YES!
Wow, this was really helpful! I just got a monitor for gaming but I think this set up will be great. Thank you and GO CUBS!
Just how I like my desk to be ...love your content!
Here is a note about the setup: If you have a Chromebook, which can be folded (Tablet Mode) you can simply use this in "stand mode" (v shape) and one doesnt need a stand.
If you want the display at a decent eye-level height, that's not as useful.
Have been looking for a portable monitor for a while now. After seeing this, I just bought a Lepow. Thinking about a laptop stand and charging brick now as well. Thanks for the video!
Awesome! Thanks for your video! I never thought about a portable monitor!
just got the microsoft surface mouse to go with my pixelbook. Thanks for the informative videos and solid suggestions. Hope you're keeping safe.
Awesome clean little setup, thx!
Brilliant Idea thanks for the tip. Keep well.
Hi, philosophy student here, I been looking for a home desktop setup for a long time and since my career makes me not only read a lot but also write a lot (on digital media mainly) I couldn't decide what better option was for my situation because I needed a work area with enough space for, let's call it "physical media" (books, articles on paper, anything non-digital) but also some space for working for as time as needed on a computer, and this set p must be the first one that not only looks so easy to setup but also
meets the requirements that I been looking for. Thanks a lot for sharing with us! And hope everybody is doing okay.
Fantastic video. Thank-you for sharing. Great little set up.
This video is very helpful. Thank you.
Nice idea sir. That is something to try these days...
Wow , your set up there looks fire 🔥
The best practical approach to multiple desktops.
Thank u very much for sharing, great setup
This is ideal for me. Thank you
This setup is cool. I can dig it.
This just gave me a dope a idea for game streaming on my Chromebook playing Google Stadia with a dual monitor setup
I do something very similar but I make the footprint smaller still by placing my 2nd monitor (ipad) on the keyboard.of my laptop also on the laptop stand. So that my laptop screen is above my iPad screen. I find the displays stacked like this much more ergonomic as I don’t have to move my head side to side. It also fits on any coffee shop table and doesn’t look so weird in Starbucks 😂
Good to see others use a similar set up, this multi screen portable set up is the future. 👍🏼 good vid bro.
Loving the Pebble mouse 🙃
Man, I just love how flexible the whole Chrome OS system is. One minute it's a tablet, then a laptop, then a desktop, then a portable desktop.
Just it needs a native Ms office then it'll become perfect
Not being an MS Office user, is the suite in the Google Play Store not fully featured to be considered ‘native office’?
@@shrithanosmaharaj8679 I had the same problem: I'm now using Office 365 on Chrome. I'm not a heavy user of macros or VBA,. So, for my use case, it copes well with my requirements.
Very nice setup. The power brick is a great idea.
This is very similar to the setup I have. I don't use an external mouse or keyboard but do have an AOC USB-C monitor. Another thing I've added recently is an HP OfficeJet 200 printer. It's very compact and has a battery so doesn't need a power connection, has wireless printing, and workems perfectly with my Acer 713 Chromebook.
Yep Yep ...Good Stuff! Thanka!
I love your desk setup mate
I have the exact same laptop stand. It's ultar portable and lightweight, yet reasonably stable. I use it with my ASUS 14-inch Chromebook, and like you said, it allows the laptop screen to be reasonably close to me.
this is the most realistic setup and I love it, no $1300 dollar desk with a $2000 laptop and a 4k OLED 27" monitor
"...that fits in your bag." This can only be described as a highly aspirational dimension to the review, today being barely in Week 2 of US lockdown, WHO is GOING OUT with their desktop set-up GO-BAG right now???
Even so, Chrome Unboxed is a very helpful website, this is generally a good channel, and it deserves at least 100,000 subs.
This helped a lot.
Great video,keep good work
Nice setup. I have something very similar, except I use The Roost stand for the laptop stand portion and an eighth generation iPad as the second display. Everything packs into my bag in less than a minute and I am ready to go.
Great. Thanks!
Nice one 👌, wish I have a setup like yours
Damn I’m now getting the Flex 5 chromebook!
Im supposed to go to online class but this is much better!
Does that external monitor work with the pixel slate? I've been running into problems with it talking to monitors in general. All my other Chromebooks have been just fine until now.
I move around and work from home a lot before, now mostly just from my own home, thought I already had a pretty good mobile set up, but that foldable stand is totally new to me, though it seems that I'd need to get a keyboard too if I use that
"There are huge issues going on in the world right now which probably deserve some of your attention." This hit me hard. I've definitely been caught up too much with my work. The world needs everyone right now! Great video, man 👊🏼
It is very helpful
this is my travel setup too but without the keyboard and laptop stand. I work from home and travel quarterly which means I work in the hotel for 8 hours daily and explore the town or country before or after my 8 hour work session. Being accustomed to 2 big monitors I had to get a light weight laptop and that Lepow screen. I now have the Dell 7591 15inch Inspiron.
Hey I love your videos guys. In the off chance that you see this comment, I’d like to make a video request: I’m stuck on Windows because I prefer OneDrive and Word. Can you show us a workflow of using those service s effectively on a Chromebook, and if OneDrive can be integrated into the file management system?
Keep up the awesome work and stay healthy!
awesome content
Very practical and useful advice. Hoping Logitech makes that chrome ready keyboard and mouse combo available in the UK soon. Thanks for the vid
UK and the continent, friend. 😊
@@RedOrm68 absolutely!
I go to the library and cafe and foodcourt at the mall. I also use the spacedesk app to connect my tablet as my second monitor.
I use a similar setup but Mac (because that's what my work uses) and just thought it would be really great if there was a laptop with a detachable keyboard. As in the body stays there but the keyboard section lifts out of it, connects with Bluetooth, and charges when re-attached. I have a keyboard I bring in my bag, but it would be great if I didn't have to have a whole second keyboard and still be able to raise my laptop up like you show with yours. I love that little aluminum stand.
Great video
For the past one month, I am in my hometown and working from home, I was looking for a tablet holder as I was having difficulty placing the I-pad but couldn’t find one. While watching your video I got an idea that the foldable laptop holder can be used for tab, so I am going to order it from Amazon. Thanks.
I'm just imagining a year or two from now when people find this video, the comments section.....
"what is he talking about?" "what is the thing he said he can't talk about in the video" "someone tell me what this guy is talking about at the start of the video"
Lol
Wow! Thanks for this! I replicated the setup you have described herein and it has worked great for writing documentation while in telehealth sessions. On the Chromebook screen I can see the client on my telehealth platform and on the extended screen I can write documentation in the health record. I bought a keyboard with an integrated touchpad (Logitech K830), which is one less component I have to carry. The extended screen I got is by Auzai (~$190)--same size. Otherwise, all the same. Thanks!
that is really awesome setup for ui/ux designer 😍😍😍😍😍😍
That external monitor is a brilliant idea.
My mom works from home and she uses a old TV connected to her work computer it's a small 19 inch TV
I do a similar thing, but with the second screen on top of the computer keyboard, so they are both right in front of me and the set-up more compact.
Thanks
This saved me.
Thanks for the video. The setup is similar to mine but I prefer the ext monitor becomes the "main" monitor (just because it is larger than my 13.3 laptop). Still trying to find a portable monitor holder/stand to increase the height of the monitor
Great Video
Go to the point!
Great video. My WFH setup with samsung CBPro extended display to a wimaxit screen (reviewed on this channel) have worked well with the horizon client app which connects to my dual screen office computer (windows).
Can you do another video on some of the apps you are using. Maybe a 2020 refresher video, you may have gotten some new ones since last time.
Do you find the second monitor too low for long periods? Ergonomically I’ve been struggling with my home setup with inappropriate desk heights and monitor heights that are high enough
excellent - i landed here looking for the exact same setup. I’m thinking of building my own case too, so you can just open it up and away you go. May even include self-retracting reels for ethernet and power cables......
Great set up. I just use my MacBook Pro and iPad using sidecar.
I could see using this type of setup for travelling, set up in a small hotel-room and have everything I need to do work or whatever. However I wouldn't want to use this sort of setup when I'm at home, my situation is a fair bit different being a bachelor in a small apartment I can dedicate a portion of my place to a dedicated office area/gaming setup with my main computer on one side connected to a main and vertical monitor and my laptop mounted on a vesa arm on the other with the laptop screen at eye-level. I find that works a lot better for me since I'm a fairly tall guy.
The laptop stand great use case thanks
Check out the Wearson WS-03A. It's a foldable monitor stand that is magnetic, should work great with the Lepow because it's back is metal.
Thanks for the video, Robby. For years my office typing has been done on an Apple keyboard with numeric keypad, which I've grown quite familiar with over the years. Now that I am working from home for the foreseeable future, I have ordered a monitor, and am now trying to sort out a wireless keyboard that will work for both my work PC and my Chromebook. Most of my work hours will be spent using my work PC (Lenovo) and periodically my Chromebook (Asus). I will also be using the Chromebook when not on the clock. I am hoping the K580 might do the trick. Can you tell me if the key spacing and size will be somewhat similar to my Apple keyboard? (I am aware that the key configuration differs, that the arrow keys and numeric key pad are in closer proximity to the main keyboard) Do you know how well the ChromeOS version will play with a OC running Microsoft? Thanks for any feedback you can provide. I appreciate it!
