I think this is a major reason why some of the newer campaigns have suffered from feeling incredibly low stakes. Especially MW22. I feel like since Ghosts the stories have been less about war and answering the "Call of Duty" and instead focus on themes of brotherhood and teamwork. It's not a bad take to have, but what the older ones capitalized on was the size of what was happening. Heroes were everywhere. You didn't always know the names of them. You were always a very effective piece of a machine, but required those around you as well. It wasn't covert operations, black ink, clever meme characters and 4k graphics that made the older ones so good and so cherished. It wasn't always people you knew but you knew they were all fighting just as hard as you were.
Plus all the normal soldiers we played as troughout the story ( *Paul Jackson* , *Joseph Allen* , James Ramirez, *Roach* , Frost, etc) Now the only people we play as are invincible heroes who can't die (Alex survive his sacrifice for example and no one else in the main squad die during modern warfare 2) and their insistance on realism break immersion especially with activision personal agenda
MW22 had cool characters and everything, but it did seem to drift away from the general COD doctrine. Heck, I legit found that one of Rodolfo's pilots survived and was genuinely surprised. A small detail, but COD didn't really do that. It really helped capitalize on the consequences and effects of war and conflict. MW22 was really watered-down for me and imo was a pathetic reboot for COD MW2, my favorite game in the franchise. They should've given the label from COD: Ghosts instead.

7 men standing sounds a lot worse until you remember the GIGN is probably fractured and spread around France, still undeniably a high causality figure but it’s not like they’re the last standing members
The fall of Satory is even more a drama when you know that it is the biggest gendarmerie garnison of France, not only home of the GiGN but also several units of gendarme mobiles and... their families.
It's kinda weird the GIGN Group are supposed to be French Soldiers and they are using German Weapons like "G36C" Rifles instead of French Weapons like the "FAMAS" Rifles.
I find it's somewhat weird is that Sabre didn't chase Volk. Yes I know the plot said he held the Russian off to help the Delta who was after Volk, but given Sabre had the most knowledge of Paris, shouldn't it was more logical that he the one who lead the way while 1 or 2 member of Delta to stay instead? (The chase was pretty straightforward with no gimmick, but still it's more logically to have someone know the terrain better to lead the chase)
I always thought sandman, Grinch and truck staying behind too hold back the Russians as the blackhawk got away was both sad but badass as well. Edit: I wonder if they will make a return in mw3
I really appreciated this game showing the villain succeed so much. I’d never personally played a game that said “objective failed” after you did everything you were supposed to do. Man, the notion that Russia could succeed against the entirety of Europe, much less a Europe back by the U.S. is utterly absurd now. Oh, how the times have changed
So, a few things about the GIGN. =>It's not a special force, it's a police tactical unit. It's part of the gendarmerie nationale, a police force with a military status. In something like the scenario of MW2, the GIGN wouldn't probably have been the unit with whom Delta operator would have linked up, but they would have participated in the battle. =>The ranks displayed in the game are not right. There are no commander in the gendarmerie. There are squadron chief, which are referred as commandant thought. Commander is, I think, a valid translation, but the game is supposed to happen somewhere around the mid 2010. The GIGN has been under the command of a general since something like the 2000 or the 90's. =>There are no sergeant in the gendarmerie. Sergeant is an infantry rank, the gendarmerie use cavalry rank, so it would have been marshall (maréchal des logis), but the title of gendarme is actually what the gendarmerie use for that rank. =>There are no corporal in the gendarmerie. It's also an infantry rank so the proper rank would be brigadier... except a corporal in the american system is actually a chief-corporal in France, so a chief-brigadier in the gendarmerie. But that's a lower enlisted rank and there are no lower enlisted in the GIGN, outside of support element that do not participate in active operation.
Please note that (I worked in French Gendarmerie) the ranks used for the NPCs are wrong in the game as those are the real names of the ranks in the Gendarmerie : Corporal is Brigadier Sergeant is Gendarme (yes it's the basic name to describe one doing this job but also the rank equivalent of sergeant). It's the same for all cavalry type units in french armies, some ranks differs in naming. A sergeant-chief for example would be called "Maréchal des logis-Chef" too :).
They most likely died sadly, You seen the area while escaping it was being over runned by the Russians, but we all know they went out like heros in the end. But if they didn't then they're one hell of badasses and probably got the hero of France. But still they probably died fighting that spot rest in peace to those 2 hero's
The soldiers of France have a history of fight until the better end even during WW2 they kept German forces a bay until every British soldier was evacuated… it cost them but even after their surrender they still fought. France had loss more people after their surrender than when they were fighting in the war.
They never been forgotten why? Since Warzone and modern warfare 2019-2022 has a character called Mil-Sim with some skins that appeared as police and that type of appearance with brute skin in codm..
I wonder , technically GIGN is not an armed force branch, but police. What will they do in case of armed conflict between nation state and invasion of one home, as technically, they are not a soldier.
They are soldiers, not policemen. GIGN is part of Gendarmerie nationale which is part of army. GIGN can operate inside and outside the country. Police has the GIPN, the same but made of policemen who only operate inside the country. They added another Paris map for DLC, but they put Delta Force vs Spetsnaz instead.
But on the bright side, it was one of the best maps in cod period.
@@psycholaw4394 i know this sounds sick of me to say this but i really hope someone dies in mw3 and gives the story a much darker tone
@@Epsilon-18 the new modern warfare feels so sugarcoated and just feels like “nothing bad ever happens to the 141 and friends! i wonder what great adventure they’ll go on next!”

Go and Check out about Sabre.
Moral was The commander of Different team and Sabre was Commanding the second team, his Right hand man is Faucon.
Once during the catacombs missions Sandman and Sabre talk to eachother, and Sabre was sad when he heard about sandman's men.
He says in French "Volk will pay for it what he has done" and Grinch replies he will.
In last Both sabre and Faucon cover the Delta team when they get into the vehicle and chase volks car.
Both Didn't die at the end but I want to see Sabre and Faucon in Reboot MW3.
you me both
I was so inspired by this mission and the characters when i was playing it as a kid that i liked to use sabre as a couple of gamingtags haha (also since my last name is sabri, which sounds similar)
Reboot mw3? Brother let’s get mw2 remastered multiplayer released/ unlocked before that
reminds of how I completely overlooked the corpses of Major Blake and his men, in Resistance 2, and was perfectly unaware he had died until I replayed the game
BASED RESISTANCE PLAYER WAHEY
Resistance 2 will forever be goated!! My childhood game growing up! And best believe I played all of them including burning skies on the ps vita. Man I want this franchise to make a comeback whether its a remaster or a remake hell I'd be happy with just a remaster if they aren't up for the remake!
When did Blake die in resistance 2?

i always thought was funny that Modern Warfare 2 had the FA-MAS assault rifle (the main french rifle) but no french forces. but when Modern Warfare 3 rolled around the FA-MAS isn't there but the french are
To be honest its a pretty shit gun from what I heard. But ye it is kinda funny.
They seldom use FAMAS. They most likely use SIG rifles.

The medal of honor for the US military is usually given post mortem if a warrior sacrifices themselves for the sake of others...there's only a handful of men that hold that award and are still alive.
7 men standing sounds a lot worse until you remember the GIGN is probably fractured and spread around France, still undeniably a high causality figure but it’s not like they’re the last standing members
The fall of Satory is even more a drama when you know that it is the biggest gendarmerie garnison of France, not only home of the GiGN but also several units of gendarme mobiles and... their families.

sandman : "FROST GET IN THE VAN, HURRY"
frost : respectfully watch sabre's rizz stare
We need more GIGN operator in the MW series they are so cool
It's kinda weird the GIGN Group are supposed to be French Soldiers and they are using German Weapons like "G36C" Rifles instead of French Weapons like the "FAMAS" Rifles.
GIGN (Gendamerie) don't usually carry FAMAS though. G36 or most recently Cz 805 makes more sense. FAMAS are for the army
So that would mean Alejandro gives off Sabre's vibes
Bad news first;
Ahh, I instantly recognized the GIGN with their iconic helmet

I really appreciated this game showing the villain succeed so much. I’d never personally played a game that said “objective failed” after you did everything you were supposed to do.
The situation felt so hopeless at times and OG MW2 and 3 really captured that. This is something that the reboot lacks.
GIGN in MWR Sector 3 New Will
How Add Army Germany Too
If you call in backup on Resistance in Survival, they come back to help you. IIRC they can spawn in with different / have more names than Lebeouf and Perilloux, and I don't recall Sabre being a callsign for the survival AI either, but I think that means non canonically that they survived the Paris attack lol
Damn I love these investigation videos of yours 🔥🔥
Sabre has such a cool voice! 😎
its kinda stupid how american games have russians as the villians and russian games have americans and NATO as the villians but like in real life every nation has done at least 1 horrible thing for completely no proper reason
What?
We're all humans, therefore corruption exists within every faction.
Do the harder part from CoD 2 where the entire squad during The Silo mission was scripted until they destroyed the tower they became randomized A.I and certainly die.
And also Braeburn that always died on the first artilery strike in Hill 400.

Ive always watch them gign
Who anything them being forgotten I’ve always wondered what happened to them also did you know you can save that one guy that dies when you link up with gign he’s the one with mk48
Talking about the new mw feels like an insult to the value of this game. Nothing compares

Merci a toi du soutien 🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵
When I play, I also try to make one character live to the end of mission. Although only an unknown soldiers. But they deserve our respect. O7
Please note that (I worked in French Gendarmerie) the ranks used for the NPCs are wrong in the game as those are the real names of the ranks in the Gendarmerie :
Corporal is Brigadier
Sergeant is Gendarme (yes it's the basic name to describe one doing this job but also the rank equivalent of sergeant).

“What’s your statues?”
“Seven men standing”
The GIGN can fight.
I never forgot Sabre. God bless the GIGN.
They never been forgotten why? Since Warzone and modern warfare 2019-2022 has a character called Mil-Sim with some skins that appeared as police and that type of appearance with brute skin in codm..
The brute skin is a callback to the mission "No Russian" because the enemy you're fighting is the FSB(milsim - brute's origin)
In case of nations fights, they could be used as specialist group to kill, rescue or gather intels as they're trained for this too.
@@Prizarckx Ahh, i thought the anti terrorism unit is a police branch like some other nation.
@@ausar567 GIGN is the most known and the only one to leave the french territory but Gendarmerie nationale and Police nationale have many different specialized units. While GIGN and GIPN can do all the main stuff, police also has the RAID whom is specialized in anti-terrorism and mafia fighting. Gendarmerie uses the PSIG. And there's probably more that I don't even remember or know.
The big thing to remember is Gendarmerie are military police while Police nationale are civilian police.
@@Prizarckx "They are soldiers, not policemen. GIGN is part of Gendarmerie nationale which is part of army."
The gendarmerie is part of the military, not the army.
"GIGN can operate inside and outside the country. Police has the GIPN,"
Actually, that would be RAID, GIPN don't exist anymore and have been absorbed by the RAID.
"the same but made of policemen who only operate inside the country."
RAID actually share embassy protection with GIGN and was deployed to train local police force in foreign country.
"In case of nations fights, they could be used as specialist group to kill, rescue or gather intels as they're trained for this too."
The GIGN isn't really made for this kind of stuff. You don't send the GIGN to take out a VIP or do a long range recon to gather intel on the ennemy. That's more the job of some unit in the COS. Rescue is more their thing, and even there, they have clearly axed their doctrine around counter-terrorism and anti-banditism action.
@@Prizarckx
RAID and GIGN are the top dog
then you have their antenna AGIGN and the former GIPN that are now just dubbed RAID.
then you have the BRI and PSIG sabre
