And i believe this is why his grace doesn't degraded anymore. My theory is that. Seriphim are made to be independent from heaven. I would guess Gregory's were like proto seriphem and give too much independence which is why they could rebel.

It was stated that Cass no longer needed to draw on heaven to fuel his power after becoming a seraphim. Its how he was able to start a civil war against Raphael even though that meant he would be cut off again. In every other case of a fallen angel retaining their powers they were either explicitly stated to be feeding off of souls to stay alive, were BOTH a seraphim and the scribe of god, or were freaking arch angels. However in nearly every case where we saw a grunt fall from heaven their powers began to quickly fade. That one girl who wanted to posses Cass lost nearly all of her grace less than a day after Metatron kicked the angels from heaven and many others were nearly as bad off.
When was it stated that Cas no longer needed to draw power from Heaven? I don't remember anyone or anything ever saying that or even implying it. Also him starting a civil war against Raphael is not evidence of the fact that he was independent. He had many supporters, as did Raphael. Furthermore, how are you sure that Hael, the angel who wanted to possess Cas after the fall, was losing her grace? And when was it explicitly even stated that the angels were feeding off souls??? The only one I know was that Grigori and Cas called him an abomination for it, plus judging from Cas's reaction it's evident that he had never really heard of an angel feeding on souls before that. Also if Cas were a true Seraphim and retained all his powers despite being disconnected from Heaven, he would've been much more powerful in a LOT of situations. But he was more like grunt number 3 in every situation.
I think it was directly stated by metatron that his intention originally was turn off there grace slowly, let them live human lives and by the time they get back they'll have actual human emotions

At that point Castiel WAS human and Metatron was wishing a happy and fulfilling life, telling him to live his life as a human then tell him his story when he made it to paradise as a mortal soul. This DID not apply to any other angel as they were cast out of heaven and maimed but otherwise stayed as angels.

My theory was that Anna got her mother’s permission to possess her when she fell to earth and performed an immaculate conception miracle to make herself a body in the form of her baby self in her mother’s womb.
But you know what's weird, even though Anna didn't have her grace at all and she couldn't remember anything, she was able to move stuff and hear angels. But when Castiel fell without his grace, he was just a human, a pitiful one at best.

The nephilim Jane was killed by an angel blade because she was just an angel nephilim. Jack was an archangel nephilim, so the standard angel blade couldn't kill him.

The Watcher Angels fed on human souls to sustain their power since they were cut off from Heaven when they rebelled and abandoned their mission. Castiel also tapped into the power of human souls when he was cut off and weakened the more he used his power.
I also remember some kind of angels, who were supposed to guard prophets. To be fair we only hear of them from Chuck, but Cas seamed to know they exist.

Also i genuinely love how using in universe lore you can have a nephilim(Jack) lose his soul that makes him unique and cause him to later become a vacuum that sucks up all cosmic power expressed in his presence. He later ragained said soul but I'm sure thats the excuse that would lead to his finale abilities. The ending left me empty though. Love this series so much. With all my heart. I just wish it didnt have to end.

Yeah I also hold the view that Naomi and Zachariah were Seraphs cause the power they displayed and the positions they held under Michael and Raphael's leadership were just far above the regular normal high ups like Anna, Uriel and S4/AU Cas. I would also add that Gadreel is imo a Seraph aswell. He just soloed and slaughtered hordes of Angels numerous times under Metatron's orders and was entrusted with an very important responsibility by God. Also shown with how he kept his wings, even tho forever broken. Cause many fodder grunts didnt even keep their wing bone structre as seen in S8 finale and since then when they died like the S13 Angel squad that was sent after Jack. Metatron with the Angel Tablet power up and Demon Tablet in possession was also an juggernaut in S9, with greater magical knowledge and power than the Archangels themselves.
I don't think Zachariah is a Serpah. Seraph are literally the highest class of angels after the archangels, I mean if we leave archangels for the moment, Castiel in S6 was pretty much the most powerful angel in heaven

I am pretty sure Castiel is powerful than almost every demon considering Seraphs are just below the level of archangels. Castiel even without soul amp could pretty much overpower any supernatural monster in existence, unless it's Eve which is older than Cain himself
There has been a lot of flack for Cass being able to say yes to luicfer to having him possess him he can because his vessel James novak was already dead he died when sam (lucifer possessed) thanosed him and blew him up with a snap which killed novak soul but God( chuck ) brought Cass back with novak's form because that's how the boys knew him best and because novak is no longer a factor he could say yes

Ok I’m now questioning if it was Constantine or Lucifer ??? I’m thinking it was Constantine as the plot was about a preacher that gained angelic like powers and came back from the dead and it turns out to be a plot by a fallen to get onto earth in a physical form and anyone that’s watched Lucifer knows that angels in that show have no problem taking on human forms.
I do believe the reason cas didnt lose power the second time he fell was because he was no longer a base angel. As a seraphim i think he doesnt rely on heaven for power and is intead able to do all the things lesser angels can do on his own without the need for a connection to heaven.

@@jTyloo The Horsemen are stated to be primordial being, as they are literal manifestation of what they are named after, and Death has been around since life began (presumably, when Chuck and Amara were "born"). He also said in season 5 that he's at least as old as God (neither can remember who came first), and that one day he'll reap God too. Sure, its host can be overpowered and killed, and in theory it wouldn't be able to take physical form now that all the reapers were exterminated, but Death itself (the primordial being) is undying.
I appreciate that last mention. It lines up with how Jacks arc seemed to be written. I kinda of assumed human angels would be his continued approach to the angel situation. I saw him and Cas believing that more angels could use a compassionate and empathetic influence in the ranks, and achieving that in part, by "making" more future angels from humans. I also wondered if this technically also made these new angels more akin to new type of nephelim in nature.
To be fair after castiel “fell” at the start of season 7, he still has his powers as supposed to season 5 cuz unlike then hes barely in the show and probably barely using his powers vs season 5 which he was significantly more consistently in the show and using his powers, so maybe that amnesia castiel would have eventually lost his powers too had he stayed on earth and used up his grace
Also when it comes to the nephilim (idk how to spell it) they are stronger than the angels that made them, so the first one we need is just the daughter of a regular angel, but jack is the son of an archangel one by lucifer arguably the second strongest archangel so his son would be stronger than him, thus explaining why he was monstrously powerful, as lucifer was already a dangerously powerful being, and regular jack is probably one of the strongest beings we saw but not the strongest i still think all the cosmic entities such as god amara and the original death alongside the empty would be stronger, hes just the closest thing to them in power and even stronger than michael himself
Great video! As I understand it. Angels are able to share their powers through heaven and power up these, who for some reason act on earth. (Basically each of them create some energy, but they are all connected in network called heaven and power it whole up. When needed, they can direct part of energy in this network back to angel). So, low level angels aren't so strong as they may seem, because their backing.
I think the reason Castiel and other high-tier fallen angels retain their powers is that their own grace is self-recharging. This is why human Castiel had to regularly consume angel grace to keep his Angel powers, but no longer had to once he regained his original grace. Most likely this ability is exclusive to Seraphim and other higher-ranking angels, as they are entrusted with greater power and responsibility and are less likely to fall compared to the lower-ranking angels.
I have a theory on how angels magically gain a soul when out of grace this could be because grace is just a modified soul example or links in between are the souls we see in abadons demon church thing were the souls seem to have a similar glow to the angels grace or sams soul having a bright light when being put back in I believe that chuck made souls based off the angels to allow for the angels to possess humans more easily and for the angels to have recharge times this could be to have a better balance to life and to make angels unable to really do much to him in case of revolution
Firstly, souls came after the grace angels have, so your initial statement is either fully incorrect or the other way around. Secondly, for the love of Castiel, use punctuation, sentences, and paragraphs. What you've written is barely English.
I think the reason Cas was cut off from Heaven in season 5 was probably because Michael made it so. Michael is, after all, the most powerful angel, and if he doesn't want you getting power from Heaven, it's probably not happening. He's probably the very core of power in Heaven, with the other archangels and lower angels being insignificant by comparison. Once he got stuck in the cage, his ability to keep Cas out of heaven disappeared because the cage seals archangels so completely that it's nearly impossible for them to affect the world. Plus most of the angels were on Michael's side, so that probably also had an effect. Angelic power seems to almost be collective, for as the angels die off throughout the series, they also seem to get weaker overall, even before Metatron flips the switch and banishes them all. Of course when Cas got rebuilt by Chuck, he also became a Seraph too, which may have a stronger connection to heaven, one normal angels just don't have. I also wonder if angels, like demons, used to be human. Jack is able to turn human souls into angels later on, and an angel without its grace basically just becomes a human (though how human seems to depend on a few things, as Ana had some angel powers as a human, whereas Cas and Metatron didn't). Or perhaps its the other way around. Perhaps humans were derived from angels?
While humans and angels are two separate beings created by God, it's been implied on the show that human souls are derived from angel grace, which why the Nephelim are possible.
Okay no humans and angels are not link in that, according to the show lore Angels can only interact on earth properly with a vessel, they become human because their grace is like a spirit and by spirit I mean the Christian belief which isn’t that it the same as a soul, basically the grace acts like a link between their true astral forms and their vessel without it they lost connection to heaven and their true form. It kinda like in shows where they get trap in the video game because they can’t log out, their grace acts their connection to their true self and as their Goldy engry allowing them to reality warping feats. Not only that but it was stated in season six that he was able to fuel his own grace as a seraphim, which is how he was able to rebel against Raphael. That and a loan from Crowley. For most of the stuff the grunt angels do, like raising the dead or smiting demons, they are said to draw on the power of heaven but higher order angels like the seraphim can pull it off with their own juice.

Either way, that's all irrelevant now, that whole "losing power when cut off from Heaven" was retconned ages ago to make room for more fluid story telling where angels were concerned, this is how season 9 was able to happen, remember all the angels were thrown out by Metatron, and Heaven's Gates were locked, yet they all kept most of their powers, minus flight and teleportation, since their wings were burned off when they fell to Earth.
Didn’t Cass start to lose his powers again. When he tried to heal the girl that got her fingers cut off by that other pastor girl, he struggled a little. In the episode where he and Jack went to check out that church group.
I frankly preferred the idea that Crowley, King of Hell, pulled Sam's body out. He couldn't have until the seals were already broken and the cage's external security was weakened, of course. And even then, he was only able to pull out the body, not the soul. But I like the idea of Crowley having pulled Sam's body out, not by sheer power so much as by his own guile *boosted* by his power. But then, it turned out that it was Castiel, all along. Oh, well...
My interpretation is that Seraphim or higher angels don't lose any powers when they fall from Heaven. Though they do lose power when they lose their grace. Also, Nephalim are probably orders of magnitude stronger that their celestial parents.
About the Nephilim. The word Nephilim came from the Hebrew word נפילים which means fallen ones, and the singular version of Nephilim is Naphil (or Nephil) which in Hebrew is נפיל
It wasn't just the powers of God that Jack siphoned out of Chuck, he also siphoned Chuck's sister The Darkness as well, and yes I'm addressing God as "Chuck" because that's what he prefers to be addressed as.
I also wonder if Jack gave souls to the remaining "full-blooded" angels at any point after the series. And what happened to an angels "new" soul once or if they regain their grace when Chuck was in charge? Did it disapate and get replaced by the grace? If so, if they "fall" again, is that a brand new soul distinct from the first one? Before Jack took over, did a fallen angel, now with a soul, still go to the empty, like all monsters got to purgatory regardless of their "status" of good or evil?
If an angel removes their grace, they are either rendered mortal within their vessel, or, like Anna, if they are not using a vessel, are reborn to human parents in their own body.
The main reason why the Angels tend to lose is because they are such control freaks to the point that when something unexpected happens, they fall apart. Castiel, Gabriel, Lucifer....they all survived because they adapted.

I see it as dimension is within one universe, but a subsection of it. Like hell, heaven, purgatory are all part of one universe. And in another universe it has its own hell, heaven, purgatory. So lucifer can be multidimensional, but not multiversal. Only God, Jack, and amara being the multiversal beings.

If you recall, in s.5, ep.14, My Bloody Valentine, Cas referred to the cupids as a "cherub third class." Zachariah, however, is a full on cherubim. If you remember, he said to Dean that one of his faces was a lion. In the Catholic faith, cherubim have four faces, that of a lion, an ox, an eagle and a man. The four faces symbolize the 4 Gospel writers; Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. They are fierce warriors for God. Seraphim are actually the highest order of angel in Heaven. They have six wings; two covering the face, two covering the feet and two to fly with. Their wings are covered with eyes, and they are omniscient. BTW, archangels are seraphim. The most powerful archangel (seraphim) is Michael. There are a total of seven archangels: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael(also known to humans as Azrael) Uriel, Raguel, Castiel and Sammiel.(sometimes known as Sammandriel) Lucifer was once one of the most powerful seraph( read: archangel), but when he decided he could be equal to God(he was very vainglorious), he stated a war in Heaven. This actually happened before God created human life. Michael and his army were victorious, and Lucifer was cast into Hell, along with the angels that fought with him. Those fallen angels became the first demons. BTW, Lilith and the Princes of Hell? Mythical. Also, Cain WAS jealous of Abel(who was NOT talking to Satan!) and killed him. The Mark of Cain was actually a brand on his soul. Also, angels have no need to possess a human. They have the ability to appear human, when visiting humans on earth.(ie, Abraham, Tobiah, son of Tobit) Back to SPN: If you'll recall s.12, ep.10, Lily Sunder has some Regrets, back at the turn of the 20th century, Castiel and some others came to Earth because a seraph "supposedly" broke Heaven's rule about creating nephalim.(which turned out to be a big fat lie, thanks to Isham) They stated in the show that the angel living with Lily was a "seraph of the Seventh choir, Castiel is also part of that choir. So, you see, Cas wasn't recently promoted to seraph; he's always been one.
What i find kind of funny is that in the Christian Angelic hierarchy the seraphim are the highest class of angels and the arch Angels are amongst the lowest class of angels.
Not true btw, the choirs is dependent on the physical location in reference to god, not a measure of power. The Archangels are still the most powerful angels in Christian canon, just they are not physically the closest to God himself usually. Seraphims are the tenders to Gods needs they guard his throne room, the Archangels are the greatest in Heaven. Micheal is the Archangel, he is not low on the Angelic hierarchy. It’s just because he is physically closer to earth comparatively to the choirs above.
There are two more examples of fallen angels, the ones that fell to hell when Lucifer was cast out, I know that there is not really any referens to these but I suspect that the princes of hell with the bad boy Azazel at the top of their ranks, are fallen angels, and of course Lucifer himself.

You have to be wrong about the amount of arch angels there are there is at least one more the one that was guarding Chuck now if there is only 4 all of the other ones were busy and I’m sorry watching Chuck is way below the pay of Michael so in the episode that to meet Chuck for the first time and they bring him to Lilith and one showed up and there Cas told us two arch angles were carding the room with no doors
So I think the situation with Grace and the Fallen is that Cas lost a lot of his power because the collective will of angels in heaven can cut off an angel from the ability to restore grace and he didn't have that problem later because there were more angels on his side or there just weren't enough angels who care, or keeping with the theme of angels and thought crimes. it might be that for an angel to be able to regenerate grace they have to believe they are in the right or doing gods will. The Grigori know they're rebels and against god so they replenish their grace with human souls. Cas felt like a traitor and so his power went away and when he lost his marbles he got power back because he know longer thought in dichotomies of right and wrong. Even when his sanity returned he had committed to the ideals that he now believed in. De-powered cas after his fall was full of doubts and questions. Post Fall and Post sanity Cas had more faith in himself. I don't think this really applies to Archangels outside of the time Gabriel was really weak for a long time despite having had time to restore his grace and then seemed a lot stronger once he had his confidence and sense of self returned. I think Grace or an aspect of it is based in or fueled by an Angels Belief, their faith in God and or themselves.
I think why the gragory or however you spell that name is fed off humans and also how nephalems are made or why Jack was able to create angels from humans is because the human soul as stated by even death himself is more powerful than we know because when god made humans he made them basically out of the stuff of angels just without the powers and more of the free will and creative mind. I think that's a big reason why Lucifer hated them so much is because god made them in their image as replacements and he was angry they got more of what they wanted to have. My theory is that the human soul is made up partially of grace which is what makes an angel but also a different kind of cosmic energy that angels did not have. I also believe that grace is basically concentrated god energy taken from his own state of being hence why Billy's version of death said he wove himself into the fabric of creation itself in order for it to sustain itself in his absence which also would explain why when Jack was super charged he was able to take god's power because he basically took enough of it from god's creation and being himself that he essentially grew to harness his being and became basically on the same level of power but also weakend god as he drew from him such as what Asmodeus did to Gabriel. Also it's weird how to become the new death you have to be a reaper that gets killed and to become God Jack had to essentially be an Nephalem that died and was reincarnated which is like being reborn into a new powerful being which incorporates the whole reincarnation thing.
Does anyone else wonder what form the arch angels took while fighting Amara? I don’t think humans existed so I’m assuming it was their true forms but that makes me question why they need a meat suit. Maybe it helps them focus their power? Idk

It was stated that Cass no longer needed to draw on heaven to fuel his power after becoming a seraphim. Its how he was able to start a civil war against Raphael even though that meant he would be cut off again. In every other case of a fallen angel retaining their powers they were either explicitly stated to be feeding off of souls to stay alive, were BOTH a seraphim and the scribe of god, or were freaking arch angels. However in nearly every case where we saw a grunt fall from heaven their powers began to quickly fade. That one girl who wanted to posses Cass lost nearly all of her grace less than a day after Metatron kicked the angels from heaven and many others were nearly as bad off.
When was it stated that Cas no longer needed to draw power from Heaven? I don't remember anyone or anything ever saying that or even implying it. Also him starting a civil war against Raphael is not evidence of the fact that he was independent. He had many supporters, as did Raphael.
Furthermore, how are you sure that Hael, the angel who wanted to possess Cas after the fall, was losing her grace? And when was it explicitly even stated that the angels were feeding off souls??? The only one I know was that Grigori and Cas called him an abomination for it, plus judging from Cas's reaction it's evident that he had never really heard of an angel feeding on souls before that.
Also if Cas were a true Seraphim and retained all his powers despite being disconnected from Heaven, he would've been much more powerful in a LOT of situations. But he was more like grunt number 3 in every situation.
I think it was directly stated by metatron that his intention originally was turn off there grace slowly, let them live human lives and by the time they get back they'll have actual human emotions

@@jTyloo The Horsemen are stated to be primordial being, as they are literal manifestation of what they are named after, and Death has been around since life began (presumably, when Chuck and Amara were "born"). He also said in season 5 that he's at least as old as God (neither can remember who came first), and that one day he'll reap God too.
Sure, its host can be overpowered and killed, and in theory it wouldn't be able to take physical form now that all the reapers were exterminated, but Death itself (the primordial being) is undying.
I appreciate that last mention. It lines up with how Jacks arc seemed to be written. I kinda of assumed human angels would be his continued approach to the angel situation. I saw him and Cas believing that more angels could use a compassionate and empathetic influence in the ranks, and achieving that in part, by "making" more future angels from humans. I also wondered if this technically also made these new angels more akin to new type of nephelim in nature.

To be fair after castiel “fell” at the start of season 7, he still has his powers as supposed to season 5 cuz unlike then hes barely in the show and probably barely using his powers vs season 5 which he was significantly more consistently in the show and using his powers, so maybe that amnesia castiel would have eventually lost his powers too had he stayed on earth and used up his grace
Also when it comes to the nephilim (idk how to spell it) they are stronger than the angels that made them, so the first one we need is just the daughter of a regular angel, but jack is the son of an archangel one by lucifer arguably the second strongest archangel so his son would be stronger than him, thus explaining why he was monstrously powerful, as lucifer was already a dangerously powerful being, and regular jack is probably one of the strongest beings we saw but not the strongest i still think all the cosmic entities such as god amara and the original death alongside the empty would be stronger, hes just the closest thing to them in power and even stronger than michael himself

As I understand it. Angels are able to share their powers through heaven and power up these, who for some reason act on earth. (Basically each of them create some energy, but they are all connected in network called heaven and power it whole up. When needed, they can direct part of energy in this network back to angel). So, low level angels aren't so strong as they may seem, because their backing.

I think the reason Castiel and other high-tier fallen angels retain their powers is that their own grace is self-recharging. This is why human Castiel had to regularly consume angel grace to keep his Angel powers, but no longer had to once he regained his original grace.
Most likely this ability is exclusive to Seraphim and other higher-ranking angels, as they are entrusted with greater power and responsibility and are less likely to fall compared to the lower-ranking angels.

I think the reason Cas was cut off from Heaven in season 5 was probably because Michael made it so. Michael is, after all, the most powerful angel, and if he doesn't want you getting power from Heaven, it's probably not happening. He's probably the very core of power in Heaven, with the other archangels and lower angels being insignificant by comparison. Once he got stuck in the cage, his ability to keep Cas out of heaven disappeared because the cage seals archangels so completely that it's nearly impossible for them to affect the world. Plus most of the angels were on Michael's side, so that probably also had an effect. Angelic power seems to almost be collective, for as the angels die off throughout the series, they also seem to get weaker overall, even before Metatron flips the switch and banishes them all.
Of course when Cas got rebuilt by Chuck, he also became a Seraph too, which may have a stronger connection to heaven, one normal angels just don't have.
I also wonder if angels, like demons, used to be human. Jack is able to turn human souls into angels later on, and an angel without its grace basically just becomes a human (though how human seems to depend on a few things, as Ana had some angel powers as a human, whereas Cas and Metatron didn't). Or perhaps its the other way around. Perhaps humans were derived from angels?
While humans and angels are two separate beings created by God, it's been implied on the show that human souls are derived from angel grace, which why the Nephelim are possible.
Okay no humans and angels are not link in that, according to the show lore Angels can only interact on earth properly with a vessel, they become human because their grace is like a spirit and by spirit I mean the Christian belief which isn’t that it the same as a soul, basically the grace acts like a link between their true astral forms and their vessel without it they lost connection to heaven and their true form. It kinda like in shows where they get trap in the video game because they can’t log out, their grace acts their connection to their true self and as their Goldy engry allowing them to reality warping feats.

I frankly preferred the idea that Crowley, King of Hell, pulled Sam's body out.
He couldn't have until the seals were already broken and the cage's external security was weakened, of course. And even then, he was only able to pull out the body, not the soul.

My interpretation is that Seraphim or higher angels don't lose any powers when they fall from Heaven. Though they do lose power when they lose their grace.

About the Nephilim. The word Nephilim came from the Hebrew word נפילים which means fallen ones, and the singular version of Nephilim is Naphil (or Nephil) which in Hebrew is נפיל
It wasn't just the powers of God that Jack siphoned out of Chuck, he also siphoned Chuck's sister The Darkness as well, and yes I'm addressing God as "Chuck" because that's what he prefers to be addressed as.
I also wonder if Jack gave souls to the remaining "full-blooded" angels at any point after the series. And what happened to an angels "new" soul once or if they regain their grace when Chuck was in charge? Did it disapate and get replaced by the grace? If so, if they "fall" again, is that a brand new soul distinct from the first one? Before Jack took over, did a fallen angel, now with a soul, still go to the empty, like all monsters got to purgatory regardless of their "status" of good or evil?
It would have been cool if they played more with the standard angel hierarchy.
If an angel removes their grace, they are either rendered mortal within their vessel, or, like Anna, if they are not using a vessel, are reborn to human parents in their own body.

I always thought Uriel's specialty was large scale human death. Wasnt a major plot point with him needing a cull a towns population, beacuse the winchesters wouldnt?
If you recall, in s.5, ep.14, My Bloody Valentine, Cas referred to the cupids as a "cherub third class." Zachariah, however, is a full on cherubim. If you remember, he said to Dean that one of his faces was a lion.
In the Catholic faith, cherubim have four faces, that of a lion, an ox, an eagle and a man. The four faces symbolize the 4 Gospel writers; Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. They are fierce warriors for God. Seraphim are actually the highest order of angel in Heaven. They have six wings; two covering the face, two covering the feet and two to fly with. Their wings are covered with eyes, and they are omniscient. BTW, archangels are seraphim. The most powerful archangel (seraphim) is Michael. There are a total of seven archangels: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael(also known to humans as Azrael) Uriel, Raguel, Castiel and Sammiel.(sometimes known as Sammandriel)
Lucifer was once one of the most powerful seraph( read: archangel), but when he decided he could be equal to God(he was very vainglorious), he stated a war in Heaven. This actually happened before God created human life. Michael and his army were victorious, and Lucifer was cast into Hell, along with the angels that fought with him. Those fallen angels became the first demons. BTW, Lilith and the Princes of Hell? Mythical. Also, Cain WAS jealous of Abel(who was NOT talking to Satan!) and killed him. The Mark of Cain was actually a brand on his soul. Also, angels have no need to possess a human. They have the ability to appear human, when visiting humans on earth.(ie, Abraham, Tobiah, son of Tobit)
Back to SPN: If you'll recall s.12, ep.10, Lily Sunder has some Regrets, back at the turn of the 20th century, Castiel and some others came to Earth because a seraph "supposedly" broke Heaven's rule about creating nephalim.(which turned out to be a big fat lie, thanks to Isham) They stated in the show that the angel living with Lily was a "seraph of the Seventh choir, Castiel is also part of that choir. So, you see, Cas wasn't recently promoted to seraph; he's always been one.
What i find kind of funny is that in the Christian Angelic hierarchy the seraphim are the highest class of angels and the arch Angels are amongst the lowest class of angels.
Not true btw, the choirs is dependent on the physical location in reference to god, not a measure of power. The Archangels are still the most powerful angels in Christian canon, just they are not physically the closest to God himself usually. Seraphims are the tenders to Gods needs they guard his throne room, the Archangels are the greatest in Heaven. Micheal is the Archangel, he is not low on the Angelic hierarchy. It’s just because he is physically closer to earth comparatively to the choirs above.

There are two more examples of fallen angels, the ones that fell to hell when Lucifer was cast out, I know that there is not really any referens to these but I suspect that the princes of hell with the bad boy Azazel at the top of their ranks, are fallen angels, and of course Lucifer himself.
Technically Castiel could’ve been made a Grigori by Chuck. When Castiel was introduced he said at one point he watched over Earth in the Angels absence.

You have to be wrong about the amount of arch angels there are there is at least one more the one that was guarding Chuck now if there is only 4 all of the other ones were busy and I’m sorry watching Chuck is way below the pay of Michael so in the episode that to meet Chuck for the first time and they bring him to Lilith and one showed up and there Cas told us two arch angles were carding the room with no doors
So I think the situation with Grace and the Fallen is that Cas lost a lot of his power because the collective will of angels in heaven can cut off an angel from the ability to restore grace and he didn't have that problem later because there were more angels on his side or there just weren't enough angels who care, or keeping with the theme of angels and thought crimes. it might be that for an angel to be able to regenerate grace they have to believe they are in the right or doing gods will. The Grigori know they're rebels and against god so they replenish their grace with human souls. Cas felt like a traitor and so his power went away and when he lost his marbles he got power back because he know longer thought in dichotomies of right and wrong. Even when his sanity returned he had committed to the ideals that he now believed in. De-powered cas after his fall was full of doubts and questions. Post Fall and Post sanity Cas had more faith in himself.
I don't think this really applies to Archangels outside of the time Gabriel was really weak for a long time despite having had time to restore his grace and then seemed a lot stronger once he had his confidence and sense of self returned. I think Grace or an aspect of it is based in or fueled by an Angels Belief, their faith in God and or themselves.
You forgot the Reapers. They're also a subspecies of Angel.
I think why the gragory or however you spell that name is fed off humans and also how nephalems are made or why Jack was able to create angels from humans is because the human soul as stated by even death himself is more powerful than we know because when god made humans he made them basically out of the stuff of angels just without the powers and more of the free will and creative mind. I think that's a big reason why Lucifer hated them so much is because god made them in their image as replacements and he was angry they got more of what they wanted to have. My theory is that the human soul is made up partially of grace which is what makes an angel but also a different kind of cosmic energy that angels did not have. I also believe that grace is basically concentrated god energy taken from his own state of being hence why Billy's version of death said he wove himself into the fabric of creation itself in order for it to sustain itself in his absence which also would explain why when Jack was super charged he was able to take god's power because he basically took enough of it from god's creation and being himself that he essentially grew to harness his being and became basically on the same level of power but also weakend god as he drew from him such as what Asmodeus did to Gabriel. Also it's weird how to become the new death you have to be a reaper that gets killed and to become God Jack had to essentially be an Nephalem that died and was reincarnated which is like being reborn into a new powerful being which incorporates the whole reincarnation thing.
