There was an episode of supernatural where they explained that many monsters have become tech savvy. They are no longer hunting people down in back alley. I was wondering if monster city is a reflection of this bit of world building.
The still shot of Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconari on General Hospital) is friggin hilarious. I always forget he was on SPN when I think about all of the actors that have been on both shows.
I so wish Supernatural had a bigger budget. Don't get me wrong, I loved the show.....BUT, every(almost) single monster looking like a human is lame as hell.
The leviathan are also monsters, hell they are literally called the first beast for a reason, they predate eve and like ed says eve is hardly one of them But i do like that adam is the father of mankind, lilith his first wife is the mother of demons and eve is the mother of monsters, or at least it would be a nice thing if eve hadn’t said shes older than angels and since adam lilith and eve came after angels this doesn’t match at all
She goes by Eve because she’s the mother of a species but she’s not like Adam’s wife Eve At least I’m pretty sure because for a while I thought she was.
Do you think demons are above all monsters in general? Leviathan can stomp angels but there are the highest ranking demons like Lilith, Alastair, the knights of hell and princes of hell.
MOST demons are above MOST monsters... but not all.. funny u mentioned the Levis tho... Coz they DEF can kill demons...and fairly easily if you believe Crowley coz when he meets Dick he says(roughly) "i know u can kill me no problem, u all kill angels)
This is my vague scale across the show in general. Advantage - would win normally 5*/10x. Smite- far above, normally should easily win 10/10x. Some of these would really come down to what entity is prepared for the fight. Magic doesnt really have an upper limit depending on the situation you just need time and preparation and privacy. Aged would normally refer to that kind of entity in their prime of power or if they dont lose power over time, their oldest age. Special is usually specific categories like white eye demons, knights of hell, princes of hell, mother of monsters, alphas, arch angels. Reg vamp vs reg demon? Demon advantage. Demons are above basically any "regular" monster except leviathan, which he said he doesn't consider a monster because they're older than Eve and don't come from her. Eve is probably on par with the leviathan however. Then the old or special tier demons like knights, princes, or white eyes absolutely demolish basically anything below seraphim, and still have the advantage over most seraphim. Your pagan Gods probably rank slightly above the special demon tier minus maybe Lilith. I wanna say it's implied Lilith is the strongest demon. To the point not even the knights or princes can take her out. Which doesn't make sense considering Sam was able to with Azazels blood- a demon supposedly weaker than her.
It’s important to remember the first appearance of each creature, because they have a habit of weakening them as the show goes on. If we compare the first regular demon and vampire, than I believe the demon “loses”. By lose, I mean the body the demon is possessing would be destroyed, not the demon. To be fair by the time we start seeing regular demons they are being weakened, if I remember correctly.
People who hate hearing wendigo or skinwalker are absolutely ridiculous. It isn't the original pronunciation of it nor is it the original word. Therefore nothing can happen and no offense can actually be taken.
I think the werewolf thing with the closer they are in relation to the alpha, the more control they have over their shift, was a dumb addition to the lore of the show, especially because in season 6 Bobby and Rufus already mentioned that wolves were turning on half moons, so if they wanted werewolves to be able to control their shifts there would’ve already been a reason as to why. Especially after Eve came back from purgatory, that really could’ve just been their hard reset button for monster lore.
They did with a bunch of monsters. In the first few seasons they had a bunch or rules and limitations on monsters/deus ex machina items but that got boring and hard to work around as the show went on so they abandoned them. So now we have very little monster continuity :/
@@datBean yeah, most of the rules were defined by real lore, with exception of course. But after the bros took on demons and angels, canon fodder monsters needed a level up to keep the show interesting.
the rugaroo was the first episode of supernatural i ever saw, my cousins showed it to me before i ever started watching on my own. gave me nightmares, still haven’t rewatched it idc if it’s not even scary now
The second episode of this show is what got me hooked. And watching the lost tapes episode sometime before it. The Wendigo was and still is one of my favorite monsters.
Same here, but the later seasons didn’t really hit as hard. I read somewhere that they only intended to do like five seasons and pretty much everything after kind of got worse and worse with each storyline. I couldn’t even watch the last season because my interest in the show just declined so drastically.
My girlfriend went from never hearing of the show (Eastern European)to about four hours later telling me she loves it. First couple seasons are pure gold.
I liked one of the later episodes where they were essentially tracking a serial killer who was selling victims on the dark web. The killer said that most monsters fly under the radar and have jobs and homes. Hunters usually just cull the ones who don’t fit into normal society whether it’s due to their appearance or behavior. It made sense in a world where most monsters appear human.
Yeah I came up with an explanation from my own headcanon. There isn't one darkness. There's multiple, and God is far stronger than she is but she's not aware of it. He orchestrated it all to give his responsibility to someone else in the end- Jack. Otherwise all the arcangels from alternate worlds would have known about each other and it would've taken every iteration of every Michael and Lucifer to take down a single Amara. Instead, to their knowledge, it took God and the 4 arcangels to take down the darkness. None of them were aware there were alternate versions of themselves and they all have the same origin story separately. The only being we know for certain there's only one of is Chuck. He travels to and starts destroying the alternate worlds he created at the end of the show.
The Darkness is God's sister. Chuck created all of the universes. Therefore, she & Chuck existed prior to all of the universes. It's really that simple.
Love the stargate references. I wish there was a channel like yours where I could watch it too, farscape is my favorite scifi with stargate coming a close second, the two greatest scifi shows of all time😁
I like how some monster weaknesses make sense like vampires dead mans blood makes sense since the mother of monsters wouldn't want them being a common goul but a turned monster
On the topic of dragons, i loved the episode where they come across a storeroom filled with artifacts and one of them was a perfume sprayer filled with dragon's breath. Meaning that breath must be combustible when introduced with air and the dragon's themselves must have a mechanism in their biology that allows them to "spit" this secretion

Hey this video has given me an idea of a video or perhaps multiple videos you can make where you have fans create a monster of their own design listing it's powers , weaknesses and general biology and you talk about how it would rank in the world of supernatural or how the Winchesters would hold up in a fight with the fan created monster
Skinwalkers irl native american legend says they turn into all kinds of animals by wearing their skin. Hence the name. To aquire this power, one must commit a major taboo of killing a member of ur family. Dean's dream wish from the djinn was an It's A Wonderful Life experience. Most would learn from it to appreciate what they have and have done. But he still wants an "apple pie" happy life from beginning to end. He didn't learn. If frendly pishtaco were real, they coul b very helpful for those trying to lose weight.
I would love a Fenix video and i think the okami should be in the beastie bois category. Maybe The Wendigo have the same life cycle as the Rugaru living a human live until they eat human meat. Monsters are my favourite think in all Supernatural series, and i think is very sad the wasted potencial of this, there are 4 great "Factions" or groups that can join and make plans. The Hell, The Heaven, "Humans/Witches" and Monsters, each one of them have been for one or more season the big bad guys, specially hell and Heaven. But the truth potencial of the monsters is never fully explode. They aren´t even the final boss in season 6 in wich they have "The spotlight" and Eve wasn´t good as a trheat or a character (It wasn´t until i saw your video about Eve that i fully understand what was his role in the cosmology was). A fully season with Monsters as the main villain would have been something great, if you think about if enoguh monsters work together they could cause a lot of damage in the world

Wen-dee-go, is the correct way to pronounce it. From the native tongue to ours it's the closest we can get. The way people normally pronounce it is just thanks to movies and the like.
No, it isn't. Wendigo as it was pronounced in this video is much closer than "Wen-dee-go" is. You're the one who thinks it's pronounced the incorrect way thanks to movies and the like, not the rest of us. You also said "the native tongue" instead of actually declaring which language you think the word is from. The Algonquin are the originators of the word, sure, but the Ojibwe are the ones who called them "windigo" and that's the actual root of the word as we use it today, FFS it's one letter off.
I feel like wendigo and a rugaru are the same species just age difference of hundreds of years later heck where the rugaru going to hide a cave or dark area 🤔 food for thought
A weirdly common theme for the monsters that I think might have a degree of universal effect is that monsters abilities degrade or gain compliments the further removed from Eve and their Alpha they are and that for engaging with ones monster nature is a no turning back point. I think more than just vamps have some sort of effects when they feed for the first time but I'm not sure what it is. I'm not saying all have a cure but I could believe it
i always question when sam took out gordon in the way that he did, there was, without a doubt, a transfer of blood into sam's open wounds that were created with his method of decapitation... still trying to figure out how he didn't shred his hands...
So rougarou is the native Americans mispronounciation of lougarou. Which is sort of like a French werewolf. Originally were creatures just turned into big versions of the animals, where as the lougarou turned into the half man half wolf things.
wendigo, in real life lore, are individuals who commit the depraved act of eating the flesh of their fellow man, in doing so opening themselves up to being controlled by the wendigo, whether its a spirit possessing them or a curse is debatable. in the context of the show, considering its intended to be an embodiment of greed and weakness, in real life, id say its closer to some sort of spirit like entity that takes advantage of people who find themselves in situations where cannibalism is the only way to survive, possessing them. or maybe the writers have their own rules, considering they never correct the pronunciation maybe they are doing their own spin on the creature, like they do with most of the traditional monsters, in which case the rules could be whatever the fuck they want. the "alpha wendigo" was mentioned to exist in the show. but if it is referring to an "alpha" by the shows standards is debatable, going off of the supernatural wiki there is a "real life" alpha wendigo in the form of the master wendigo, however there are quite literally no other sources that back up the idea of a master wendigo, so idk. then you have to consider the fact of how wendigo would reproduce. the lore says that a wendigo is made when a human eats human flesh, but how would that feasibly work? the only way i can think of is if the person was predisposed to becoming a wendigo. so like then maybe the form that we see wendigo in is only how they look after they have their first bite of human flesh, and the alpha wendigo is just some dude whos immortal and spreads the wendigo gene just sort of hoping people end up eating other people, in which case it would be a descendant of eve. or its a spirit or curse that possesses or turns people into wendigo, in which case its probably not a descendent of eve. or we could just accept that the writers didnt know that the series would get as big as it did when they were writing the second episode, and were just trying to make the show interesting by adding interesting monsters.
you should do a vid on monsters that many say are real in our current reality and compare them to the ones on supernatural. I dont know if maybe im loosing it but some of these shows sparked crazy dreams of thier monsters that are actually real. Like vampires & warewolfs, lizards & shapeshifters, dog people, bigfoot which they never did a show on him actually being a monster that had to be killed. Of course angels and demons and aliens-
Fun fact~! Supernatural Changelings aren't too off the mark. "Faerie" is a term that was basically used to describe any supernatural creature at the time. Pixies are fairies. So are Satyrs. So are Trolls. Banshees. Headless Horsemen. Pretty sure Nuckelavee too, and that one looks way more monstrous than even most demonic depictions. Not to mention stealing and impersonating children is very much on brand for Faeries as well. So the idea that some more malevolent ones would use that trick to feed on unfortunate parents? Yeah, that tracks. And if you need help? Well...even in the Faerie episode, we saw a Redcap. Those guys are MESSED UP.
35:20 I mean eve spent all this time trying to craft the perfect monster from humans not realising that by turning people she was braking an almost perfect monster.
Weekend at Bobby’s had a member of the fang gang they referred to as Godzilla as she was a form of Japanese vampire It was a problem because she wasn’t stabbed enough times by Rufus with a blessed Shinto blade
I didn't mind the werewolf thing it's been done, an werewolfs change a lot in lore. But I hated how they did kitsuni. Kitsuni have never changed in their lore. They are tricksters that have 3 forms fix human and furry fox. They have multiple tales with a magic power attached to each tail. They get more tails as they age. They don't eat humans but in some legends a bite can change the humans into a kitsuni. Silver, salt and iron kill them. They have a normal human lifespan. Most are harmless but they all like practical jokes. Some are evil though.
I realized after season one of this show... all the monsters suck. Like the show Grimm, the recipe was there, but they got the ingredients all wrong. Sam and Dean are still the best though
The lovecraftion creatures need more love. You should do a video or videos on them to see how they connect to everything in the supernatural universe and where they are on the cosmic power scale.

Those last "perfect monsters" were actually very interesting. Almost wish they'd done someting with them and the other modern monsters Eve made, but since I don't know what you could actually do with them in the story I guess I won't bother. Also the reverse shapesifter is goofily terrifying, kinda reminds me of that Phineas and Ferb episde with the Doofenshmirtz zombies ¿)
Could you imagine how much it would suck to have the power to turn other people into you thats a identity theft case waiting to happen
There was an episode of supernatural where they explained that many monsters have become tech savvy. They are no longer hunting people down in back alley. I was wondering if monster city is a reflection of this bit of world building.
You have put more thought into the types of monsters than the actual show did
But I must know what dog I would be.
Fun fact! Even though ōkami's are native to Japan, the English translation of "ōkami" is wolf
Honestly I've been most dissapointed when they did it not to Werewolfes, but to freaking Dragons as well!
The special effects of the monsters, is where Lucifer and Grimm outshine Supernatural in most cases.
The fact that you mentioned the Yeerks from Animorphs is awesome. Didn't think anyone remembered those books
I'm currently reading them right now. I love it!
The still shot of Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconari on General Hospital) is friggin hilarious. I always forget he was on SPN when I think about all of the actors that have been on both shows.
I so wish Supernatural had a bigger budget.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the show.....BUT,
every(almost) single monster looking like a human is
lame as hell.
The leviathan are also monsters, hell they are literally called the first beast for a reason, they predate eve and like ed says eve is hardly one of them
But i do like that adam is the father of mankind, lilith his first wife is the mother of demons and eve is the mother of monsters, or at least it would be a nice thing if eve hadn’t said shes older than angels and since adam lilith and eve came after angels this doesn’t match at all
She goes by Eve because she’s the mother of a species but she’s not like Adam’s wife Eve At least I’m pretty sure because for a while I thought she was.
If only Sam and Dean had gotten a Down feather from that Phoenix.
The show dropped the ball with the phenoix
Phoenix*
Same with kitsune could you imagine sam and dean dealing with foxes that like to turn into people and seduce men.

@@calvinsimpson1301 Sam’s psychic abilities are innate to him. The demon prince blood just gave him a boost and probably corrupted him a bit, I think.
another 3 word way to describe it is "Adult Scooby Doo"
Thanks!
First couple seasons are pure gold.
thats ironic, eric kripke hated it, thats why they never did it again
I liked one of the later episodes where they were essentially tracking a serial killer who was selling victims on the dark web. The killer said that most monsters fly under the radar and have jobs and homes. Hunters usually just cull the ones who don’t fit into normal society whether it’s due to their appearance or behavior. It made sense in a world where most monsters appear human.
Still waiting on the explanation for how there's multiple Marks of Cain across the multiverse with only one Darkness.
Cause the darkness is equal to god, the mark and all that is related to god, not the darkness. Its a separate entity.
That bugs the fuck out of me.
The empty weirds me out more.
It's really that simple.
major thank you for the time stamp at the beginning
Love the stargate references. I wish there was a channel like yours where I could watch it too, farscape is my favorite scifi with stargate coming a close second, the two greatest scifi shows of all time😁
Finished the show last night... Sad about finishing it but now I can start watching UA-cam videos
I like how some monster weaknesses make sense like vampires dead mans blood makes sense since the mother of monsters wouldn't want them being a common goul but a turned monster
Vampires în the slavic mythology are described as having 2 rounds of teeth and sometimes decapitation is the only way of killing them
On the topic of dragons, i loved the episode where they come across a storeroom filled with artifacts and one of them was a perfume sprayer filled with dragon's breath. Meaning that breath must be combustible when introduced with air and the dragon's themselves must have a mechanism in their biology that allows them to "spit" this secretion
Your comedic bits made me laugh so much 😂❤
I did not expect the yeerk reference
I’ve watched several videos about SN and no one ever brings up that one doctor who had figured out how to cheat death and the boys buried him alive and we never heard about him again season 1 I believe
Some of the monsters could be an interaction between Cain and monsters, or results of a similar curse. The Wendigo might fit there.
It should be noted that Ryan and Joe were also Jefferson Starships; they were the final, perfected form of the creature.
video I have been waiting for!!!
My guess for the rabdom baby wherewolf is that the parents either both are distant descendants of those pure bloods or one of them is and its a very ressesive trait
Really depresses me that they made all these “monsters” and they all are just basically barely-altered humans in appearance
Jefferson Starships is the best name ever.
The part about the vampires. I always believe the omega vampire should of had some mind control or Illusion powers.
id like to think mother was able to store the traits of old unrelated and now extinct creatures shes eaten long ago and place those qualities onto others.
I've always thought that wraiths sirens and channgeling they reveal their true form in mirror because they can alter human perception and it used to be similar to monsters that shapeshift is vulnerable towards silver
Also yes to phoenix episode,
I had the EXACT same theory about the Aracni, Jinks
Honestly in my opinion the pheonix was one of the better ones in the series.
It kind of pisses me off that they don't transform into real werewolves
Hey this video has given me an idea of a video or perhaps multiple videos you can make where you have fans create a monster of their own design listing it's powers , weaknesses and general biology and you talk about how it would rank in the world of supernatural or how the Winchesters would hold up in a fight with the fan created monster
I actually really like that idea!
Man, I bet the Adipose from Doctor who would stay away from earth if these things existed in the universe 22:25
If the phoenix had retractable fire wings like in lucifer (the tv show) that would have been way cooler
A fully season with Monsters as the main villain would have been something great, if you think about if enoguh monsters work together they could cause a lot of damage in the world
26:10
They die like normal but return to life. Hence the empty grave after the hanging. The colt incinerated the Pheonix intead preventing his revival and producing the ashes. Most accurate head canon incan think of 😂
The wendigo of supernatural have nearly the same backstory as the actual Native American legends.
If i had to describe supernatural in 3 words i would say angels, demons vs humans.
Monsters, brothers, and drama, those are the three words I would use.
Jefferson Starship changed their name a few times from Jefferson Airplane to Jefferson Starship to Starship and they have great songs like We Built This City (which is a misunderstood song that gets a lot of unnecessary hate) Somebody To Love and Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now. Look them up their music is incredible
Some of yall are mad disrespectful for mocking op especially when the op is trying to respect a whole culture for not saying wendigos or skinwalkers.
Werewolves, Dragons, and rh Phoenix were super fucking lame.
They also over-used angels, demons werewolves, ghosts, and vamps while many interesting monsters were kne and done.
u know the releasing date of werewolf movie in above video?please help if u know
Imagine this show with a bigger budget...
A wood chipper kills 98 percent of monster's we see 😂
im almost 100% sure the kitsune were supposed to be 'nogitsune' which are weak and frail trickster foxes... they are like looking at regular foxes as angels and then nogitsune as fallen angels who got a taste for the darkness. the brain part could be the idea of them being with illusions n stuff, trickster. 12:33
12:13 They actually feed on the pituitary gland, which is within the brain sure. But they only eat the gland, not the brain itself.
I feel like wendigo and a rugaru are the same species just age difference of hundreds of years later heck where the rugaru going to hide a cave or dark area 🤔 food for thought
And I forgot the fire weakness
theyre not the same, wendigos are native american spirits that possess people and turn them into monsters, rugaru is genetic
Actually the older versions of vampires spread their curse through their blood or at least feed mortals their blood for one reason or another
lol what he really meant was "this is my channel so I'm not going to pronounce it fucking stupid."
At least the kitsunes get their brain food 😂
So rougarou is the native Americans mispronounciation of lougarou. Which is sort of like a French werewolf. Originally were creatures just turned into big versions of the animals, where as the lougarou turned into the half man half wolf things.
I like the Phoenix because if the story of the episode, not the design.
wendigo, in real life lore, are individuals who commit the depraved act of eating the flesh of their fellow man, in doing so opening themselves up to being controlled by the wendigo, whether its a spirit possessing them or a curse is debatable. in the context of the show, considering its intended to be an embodiment of greed and weakness, in real life, id say its closer to some sort of spirit like entity that takes advantage of people who find themselves in situations where cannibalism is the only way to survive, possessing them. or maybe the writers have their own rules, considering they never correct the pronunciation maybe they are doing their own spin on the creature, like they do with most of the traditional monsters, in which case the rules could be whatever the fuck they want.
the "alpha wendigo" was mentioned to exist in the show. but if it is referring to an "alpha" by the shows standards is debatable, going off of the supernatural wiki there is a "real life" alpha wendigo in the form of the master wendigo, however there are quite literally no other sources that back up the idea of a master wendigo, so idk. then you have to consider the fact of how wendigo would reproduce. the lore says that a wendigo is made when a human eats human flesh, but how would that feasibly work? the only way i can think of is if the person was predisposed to becoming a wendigo. so like then maybe the form that we see wendigo in is only how they look after they have their first bite of human flesh, and the alpha wendigo is just some dude whos immortal and spreads the wendigo gene just sort of hoping people end up eating other people, in which case it would be a descendant of eve. or its a spirit or curse that possesses or turns people into wendigo, in which case its probably not a descendent of eve.
or we could just accept that the writers didnt know that the series would get as big as it did when they were writing the second episode, and were just trying to make the show interesting by adding interesting monsters.
The werewolf part is not entirely accurate they do change entirely they just don't do it on camera it's just a way to save money
19:24 - Looking like that? No toxin should be required.
You wrong for the pic in the bottom right on the thumbnail. Looks like demonic throat.
I like to think that, like spiders in the real world, Arachne shit out their webbing from a hole located close to the anus.
So Cole's dad was the original Liver King???
you should do a vid on monsters that many say are real in our current reality and compare them to the ones on supernatural.
YOU KNOW WHAT A YEERK IS FUCKIN BEST BOOKS
just recently was able to recollect all of the animorphs books!
28:45 curious, because Rougarou is a canadian version of Loup Garou, which means "werewolf" in french
Should of made him undetectable like he was AND super strong with a badass transformation tbh could of been a hellava addition tbh
35:20 I mean eve spent all this time trying to craft the perfect monster from humans not realising that by turning people she was braking an almost perfect monster.
Weekend at Bobby’s had a member of the fang gang they referred to as Godzilla as she was a form of Japanese vampire
It was a problem because she wasn’t stabbed enough times by Rufus with a blessed Shinto blade
you forgot the Daeva or div the most frightening monsters they nearly killed the whole Winchester Family
Please do a video on the Phoenix, it was one of my fav supernatural episodes
The lovecraftion creatures need more love. You should do a video or videos on them to see how they connect to everything in the supernatural universe and where they are on the cosmic power scale.
