Sam, in my opinion, is probably a bit of mix between the three recognized types. Hear me out. First I feel the need to clarify. I think of growing power in this series like a muscle. Every time it gets used, it develops micro tears and heals back a bit stronger. More powerful magic put more tears and means faster growth. In other words, casting one high level spell would have the same effect on power growth as casting, let’s say 100 beginner spells. Now, let’s look into why I classify Sam as odd mix of all three. First and foremost is Student. I don’t think anyone will disagree with saying he fits the Student category as he learns and grows over the course of the show. Now, I believe he is also a bit of mix of Natural and Borrower. Naturals have more power to start with and Borrowers gain external power. I believe that through a mix of Demon blood, demonic possession, and angelic possession, that remnants of those powers from other beings enhanced Sam’s own natural abilities. They aren’t purely natural because he didn’t have them to begin with, but they aren’t technically borrowed as they truly do belong to him since a deal wasn’t made. That’s my theory, at least.
Rowenas Raw Power was so terrifying the fact she was able to go toe to toe with lucifer and archangel level beings just solidifies her place as one of the most powerful beings in the series overall
Nah she never went toe to tow with Lucifer, but yeah she and by extension magic/spellwork just became convenient plot devices to do whatever tf. Remove the Mark of Cain, that Cain himself didnt manage? Literally open Lucifer's Cage, what Azazel tried for milennia? Dont worry Rowena can do it. And much more, like healing the Darkness, open portals to Hell, make this and that Ever since S10, she is like the plot-device to solve shit which was just cheap asf.
When did she go toe-to-toe with Lucifer? Rowena felt more like a “prep time” character, than a combatant. People are *way* overestimating her, in terms of actual combat.
I believe the witch from the Hansel and Gretal episode is a strange one, as she can de-age people, bind people (maybe souls?) to service and, like the Baba Yaga she eats kids. Also, she's a member of the Grand Coven. She's weird but cool
A Striga in Slavic mythology is sometimes called a witch, but I believe it is more like a vampire like the Strigoi that is also from Slavic mythology if i remembered the lore correctly
it's complex - strega and striga are used to refer to a witch, especially in many of the other latin-descended languages, Strigoi is a word from the same route, tends to refer to vampires, but more generally is just a word to refer to somewhat malevolent flying nocturnal entities - a word to cover all things that go bump in the night.
While Sam is definitely special case, with everything he gone through, that could speed up his magic development, his demon blood shouldn't play role at the end. Because when he was closing gates of hell, it was said, he was being purified of it. If I remember right, whole process end up with him having molecular damage or something, so it should be possible to get rid of demon blood in him and his psychic powers. ( whole experience probably just help him magic c power to grow, probably).
I think the witchy powers is basically their spiritual energies. Higher level gives u higher talent and magic. And training seems to increase ur power. But sam always had power remember his whole demon connecting.
A few use a bit of IRL folklore. Naturals = child of a human and supernatural creature, : fairies and pantheon gods, etc. (likely human parent was a contractor) contractors = mid-level and acknowledged with a symbol linking them to who their contracted with: IE: a familiar or a special object etc.. borrower = Someone who get to be acknowledged and addicted to the sample of power temporarily given to them. Which is why their sacrifices become grander.. Student witch = someone who’s just become aware of the supernatural, therefore true neutral. Spiritual arts users = people that developed the ability to direct an influence, ambient energy from themselves and the environment. IE: shamanism and daoism etc.
Instead of a show based on Dean and Sam's Parents which was NOT INTERESTING it should've been a show completely based on Rowena. Her whole history and everything..add Crowley too. ❤
Baba Yaga seems to me like a witch who somehow made, I mean yeah essentially a horcrux lol, that let her keep her soul tied to earth while retaining her abilities. I mean clearly she's still a vengeful spirit who's long lost her mind, she eats kids ffs, but she's definitely more than your run of the mill ghost
Very good, you forgot one witch and I believe you would mention it if it came to mind, It was an important witch because you said there wasn't too many witches That ate children there was one that transformed adults to children to eat then I believe Hansel was even mentioned ,That's the episode where Dean had The mark removed when he was transferred to a teen that witch was after Rowena sent by the grand covenant.
I just found your channel a couple of days ago and I’ve watched all your videos. I hope your growth helps you make more content! I’ve always wanted someone to make videos about Supernatural but as someone who has a small UA-cam channel I know it takes a long time to put stuff together. I look forward to watching your channel grow in the future!
SUPERNATURAL IS MY FAVORITE CW SHOW OF ALL TIME AND I'VE SEEN ALL 15 SEASONS AND I HAVE A-LOT OF STUFF AND I LIKE ALL WITCH BITCH AND I'VE HAVE BEEN WATCH IS EVERY FRIDAY IT'S DEAN WINCHESTER'S QOUTE YOU'R AWESOME BAD KICK ASS SHOW AND ACTUALLY BEWITCHING AND THAT MAKES ME BEWITCH'IN WITCH'IN ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Some of the plot holes in the series really messed up the witch classification. For example, we can’t really tell if some of the most powerful spells that were cast in the series really relied on the spell caster’s power level, looks like as long as the person got the correct amount of ingredients, everybody can cast them. The mark of Cain removal spell and the portal opening spell to other dimensions are the most significant examples in my opinion. Rowena was chained and unable to perform any magic when she removed the mark of Cain, she just calculated the right amount of ingredients and said the right spell, and as for the portal spell, when Gabriel tried to blame it on her for the first attempt failure, she said “a drunk 6 years old can said the spell correct”, so it really didn’t matter if the caster had any power at all.
Can you please do Every powerful weapon in the series ranked. I know you have done videos on the demon blade and talk about the angle blade a lot but i still feel like there are a lot of one off weapons that should have had more screen time.
The most unbelievable thing about supernatural, is the fact that all hunters aren’t witches or monsters. A normal human hunter would be kill instantly if not for plot armor/holes. The second most unrealistic thing is why didn’t any of the monsters learn magic. In season 3 I believe we see new witches summoning blood and other human body parts/fluids. So imagine your a vampire with this beginner level magic you never need to hunt again. Also you wouldn’t need to worry about leviathans as much, because we see a 900+ year old witch(Spike) take out a leviathan. Just imagine what a 900 year old vampiric witch could do. Hell what could a demon with angelic magic do?
Maybe the reason vampire's don't do magic is because it's like Vampire Diaries/The Originals. If you think too much ( like me ) then you end up picking hole's in literally every tv series and film's, i have to keep reminding myself it's not real and to just enjoy it.
Norse pantheon are basically glorified monsters. As Gabriel explained. Leviathans used an Angel Trap vs Cas. Monsters are mostly stupid, just eat and survive. They dont really have time to study and practice magic.
As for demons, they would probably get themselves killed if they messed with enochian magic. They are too dark and weak to wield such pure magic. Asmodeus is the only example to really wield angelic powers, but he is a Prince. Alastair and Crowley also displayed some useful enochian magic.
@vlad_47 While I agree that demons wouldn’t use enochian magic, it is for different reasons. Enochian Magic burns away one’s soul. Demons are effectively dark and twisted souls. So, while they could, in theory, use it, every useable would most likely weaken them tremendously and most likely permanently, while overuse would be fatal, as unlike humans, they are not body, mind, and soul, they are just soul. The only reason I am not saying that it would be a permanent weakening due to what a demon does to become stronger. As in, do crossroads demons have larger souls? If so, that implies that demons can naturally enlarge their souls to gain more power, and that by making their soul larger, they could overcome the weakness of using enochian magic. As for Asmodeus, Alastair, and Crowley, they are a bit different. Angels power their magic with grace. Asmodeus was injecting himself with Gabriel’s grace to power up, and really didn’t use magic so much as he did some of Gabriel’s powers. As for Alastair and Crowley, they seemed to use a different form of the normal ritual magic and chants, but using enochian symbols and words. Enochian magic, as described in this video, seems to be referring to the ability to burn one’s soul in exchange for angelic power.
There are some other's that look human who do magic like Zanna ( imaginary friends like Sully ) and Wood Nymphs ( Mrs Butters the bunkers housekeeper )
Didnt you forget this men of letters dude Magnus? He was banned from the men of letters for performing magical rituals while they were supposed to study only. It was stated in the episode that he has probably the highest magical talent earth has ever seen and that the magical protection the bunker has that even can stand its ground against archangels at least for some time was designed by him. Also I think metatron should be mentioned, because he said in the episode that he knows all existing spells and he was able to cast out all angels from heaven using a spell. And the medieval which who wrote the book of the damned should also be mentioned at least (because we know she got the knowledge or whatever was needed to be able to create a spell thats able to break the first curse literally created by GOD. Apart from those points the list is very informative :)
What makes a person naturally talented in witchcraft is how much they can make their will a reality. Like a naturally talented witch, without the aid of spells and any knowledge of witchcraft, can wish harm or good on a person. And if they focus their will hard enough it becomes a reality. But the magnitude of this power isn't great. The study of witchcraft enables them to focus their will better, hence increasing it's magnitude. But there is a limit to what they can achieve just on the power of their will. So, in order to achieve more complicated things they need to use spells, which often involve items which have special magical properties. With enough knowledge and magical spells you can increase the scope of your will hence increase your power.
I know it's something you probably said(i didn't watch the full video yet) but i think Souls has more to it to every creature, like how Jack can turn humans into angels, so my guess magic is basically the way people use their soul(in case of angel it might be with high level of purity + with their vessels).
Based on what we see in the show, witches and witchcraft in the Supernatural Universe is largely based on witchcraft and wicca in our own. Witchcraft in the real world has been a practice since time immemorial, with almost every culture on the planet having individuals or even groups dedicated to its practice. In modern terms, it is the study of how nature intersects with mankind, the balance of creation and destruction. Herbalism, chemistry, medicine. Rowena's version of witchcraft comes the closest to how it is still practiced, utilizing precise ingredients and verbal incantations to produce an effect, largely invoking power from beings greater than herself, including her scrying spell- the Wings of Titania. And before anyone slides up with "magick isn't real" "witches aren't a thing", there is a large enough culture out there that still practices it in the modern world. Witches are considered to be the keepers of knowledge, individuals who understand nature and hold onto rites, rituals, and wisdom of survival so that if society falls apart, they can be there to help. Major governments both irl and in the Supernatural Universe had organizations dedicated to the study of magick. The Thull Society for one, existed in our own world, and was active for many years after WWII. As in regards to how shamanism, druidism, and witchcraft are different, it does mostly come down to the distinction of practice and history. All practice magick or utilize rituals, but shamans and druids commune more with the ethereal intuitions of nature. Less to do with gods, daemons and physical power, and more to do with balancing nature as a whole. The Natural Order. AS for Baba Yaga, she is unique even in real world mythology, and seems to have always been a figure of fear. Some call her a witch, but others are more intune with the idea that she's a spectre of nature's darker half.
im glad i found a channel on SP where you actually care about theorizing and not just cutting in clips of characters explaining the lore, because the lore contradicts itself more than a republican
Both democrats and republicans are reetarded when it comes to contradicting themselves. Both wings of politics suck and make you and others who aren't in the centre look like absolute nutjobs, who have no idea what they're talking about.
I think the wicked Witch was something between human and demon, or maybe that's just how demons work in that respective world. Like, it's pretty clear Oz is another world that God made, and we know that those can house weird variants of monsters we know, such as horned demons, eldritch gods etc. As for Baba Yaga, I think she might actually be the ghost of a witch that walks the line between ghost and human - or she is an Ozian witch as you suggested
Lol the witches you describe are basically sorcerers, wizards and warlocks in Dnd. Also I feel like the wicked witch is more of a fey being like an evil fairy.
Im not sure sam is a proper example for working to magical power. He was tainted by so many things by that point i was always under the impression he learned things as he leveled up. His super Saiyan lvls unlocking things he did later. They always showed him getting a power up gohan style, than being able to do things later after research and study. Like, how many times can you be given demon blood, taken over by arch angels, etc before tou finally can do things. Deans always there to, hes always part of the stuff but sam git the juice
Rowena is one of the most powerful magic users in the entire series, rivalled only by Archangels, Jack and Cosmic Beings like God and Amara She is definitely one of the stronger of witches to ever walk this earth She was so strong that she is one of the most intimidating characters to exist
Good Chuck, there's so much I don't remember from the show. I kinda lost interest after season 7 though I did eventually finish the show once the 2nd part of the final season became available on Netflix. Personally I think the last good or decent season was 6. I do remember Baba Yaga showing up. So did Koschei show up as well? Also yeah while John's journal ID'd the Striga as a witch I classify it more as a vampire similar to Maldis from Farscape. I think Maldis may be related to Palpatine or was at least his college dorm mate he's just as if not even more cooky and over the top as Sheev (yes that is Palpatine's first name)
Hey do you have a playlist? I can't find one if so. If you should get a chance to make a playlist, it would nice to be able to put on a playlist and go about the day .
Well you said it was bother Yaga and she is famous for eating children so that would make sense that in the show she would still eat children because then she wouldn't be Baba Yaga if she didn't
I noticed you used some of their scenes, why not mention the pair of witches that were strong enough to take down leviathan? I always thought they were the coolest in the series
In under 2 mins you showed an ability to assess magic systems far above most breakdowns and analysis by doing the most simply obvious thing: defining what power means in the context of these magic users. Yes, Power for witches is the ability to serve as a catalyst for the individual reagents of the system to propel an intention into action.
You seem to have forgotten the most important one of all This which was used to repower the boys on many occasions and took many different forms and was found in many different places. The sandwich. Ok bad pun .
A few days after uploading the video a segment got flagged for copyright so I had to remove it in order to keep the video monetized. It was just a quick segment talking about the wizard of Oz.
Okay thanks I was just curious Tbh i started to watch the tv show (i'm like at season 2 beginning) I take my time watching it since its a long one 15 seasons
I feel the unclassified witches aren't actually witches, strictly speaking. Because of their monstrous appearance, I would classify them as either Hags (referring to D&D) or Yaga (referring to Baba Yaga). All commenters who see this, your opinions are valid, but please be nice.
I love that you included Sam. He is a student witch and the heir to Rowena's estate. Learning possibilities there.
Sam, in my opinion, is probably a bit of mix between the three recognized types. Hear me out.
First I feel the need to clarify. I think of growing power in this series like a muscle. Every time it gets used, it develops micro tears and heals back a bit stronger. @@ooo8430 she still beat Lucifer in every encounter they had minus that one and I think thats before she even got her true power
@@_exsencefxthe only reason she was able to go toe with Lucifer was because he was in his weakest form and he barely had any of his power

Natural-Sorcerer
Student-wizard
Borrower-warlock
Damn I can’t believe I didn’t make this connection
nice! i would say
natural - witch
student - wizard (wise-learner)
borrower - warlock (oath breaker, oath = pact) or sorcerer (source-er)
I was looking for this comment lol
Bro just dropped the D&D lore
I believe the witch from the Hansel and Gretal episode is a strange one, as she can de-age people, bind people (maybe souls?) to service and, like the Baba Yaga she eats kids. Also, she's a member of the Grand Coven. She's weird but cool
Oh my Goddess, I loved the Rowena character.
Yo I actually never thought about how good Sam got at spell work

So in DnD terms we basically have: sorcerers, wizards, fiendish warlocks, hags, druids and leeches... and maybe celestial warlocks?
My toughts exactly
Holy crap you’re right 😆
~_~
S3 E9 was the best witch portrayal in my opinion. Loved those ladies 😅 🧙♀️
I'm glad because I was expecting this. Witches in the supernatural universe are divided into quite clear and interesting categories.
i feel like sams a special case from his blood and everything connected to him
While Sam is definitely special case, with everything he gone through, that could speed up his magic development, his demon blood shouldn't play role at the end. Because when he was closing gates of hell, it was said, he was being purified of it. If I remember right, whole process end up with him having molecular damage or something, so it should be possible to get rid of demon blood in him and his psychic powers. ( whole experience probably just help him magic c power to grow, probably).
I love it when Dean comes along to snatch her precious 🤣
Amazing video!! Keep up the phenomenal work please! 💚
I think the witchy powers is basically their spiritual energies. Higher level gives u higher talent and magic. And training seems to increase ur power. But sam always had power remember his whole demon connecting.
Well i just got done watching every supernatural video in 2 days, now i have that same emptiness i had when the show ended
Witches always were a underrated fraction. There should be more prominent witches than Rowena
A few use a bit of IRL folklore.
Naturals = child of a human and supernatural creature, : fairies and pantheon gods, etc. (likely human parent was a contractor)
contractors = mid-level and acknowledged with a symbol linking them to who their contracted with: IE: a familiar or a special object etc..
borrower = Someone who get to be acknowledged and addicted to the sample of power temporarily given to them. Which is why their sacrifices become grander..
Student witch = someone who’s just become aware of the supernatural, therefore true neutral.
Spiritual arts users = people that developed the ability to direct an influence, ambient energy from themselves and the environment. IE: shamanism and daoism etc.

Stumbled across this channel, it's been such a good listen while gaming or working.
I hope Max won't b going to Hell for taking on the witch's ring. Bc she died 1st and it was just left over powers he gained.

Rowena 🥰 She certainly bewitched my heart... I'll see myself out now 😅
As a person who has never watched supernatural but love the the,e of the show you’re the only UA-camr that truly makes the show sound fun to watch

A supernatural channel, and I discover you as I just start rewatching the show? What a treat!
Keep up tge good work, loving your content so far!
Can we just take a moment to appreciate that James Marsters and Charisma Carpenter were in supernatural?

When it comes to the “eek of Magic’s power” line I think Rowena was overstating things a bit because she’s… let’s say proud of being a natural.

Both democrats and republicans are reetarded when it comes to contradicting themselves. Both wings of politics suck and make you and others who aren't in the centre look like absolute nutjobs, who have no idea what they're talking about.
You mean liberals😂
found the republican lmao@@Colby-yg7nj
@@LokeyDelRey actually you're wrong😂 good try little guy!
The ring would be cool if it was a prison for a demon or some other entity they were continuously tapping for power...
Love the channel so glad I found it ! Keep it up plz 🔥🔥🔥
Surprised no one mentioned the 900 year old witch, Patrick who gave Sam the clap 👏👏😂
Witches can get their magic from almost anywhere, depends more on the place they are from.
I love this,i mentioned this in his demon video and i love that he finally did it!!!!❤❤❤❤
Its honestly my head cannon that most witches are the descendants of adam kinda like how monsters are the descendants of eve.
Better ingredients, better spells , papa witch
Please do every spell in supernatural
Striga is a vampire witch that steal life force of children
Lol the witches you describe are basically sorcerers, wizards and warlocks in Dnd.
Also I feel like the wicked witch is more of a fey being like an evil fairy.
The hanzel and gretle witch😊
Im not sure sam is a proper example for working to magical power. He was tainted by so many things by that point i was always under the impression he learned things as he leveled up. His super Saiyan lvls unlocking things he did later. They always showed him getting a power up gohan style, than being able to do things later after research and study. Like, how many times can you be given demon blood, taken over by arch angels, etc before tou finally can do things. Deans always there to, hes always part of the stuff but sam git the juice
The witch from hancel and gretal ate children.
Could you cover the different species of monsters in supernatural
Rowena is one of the most powerful magic users in the entire series, rivalled only by Archangels, Jack and Cosmic Beings like God and Amara
She is definitely one of the stronger of witches to ever walk this earth
She was so strong that she is one of the most intimidating characters to exist
Weirdly I could've been a student-witch myself
I forgot that Sam was also a witch.
Golden boy “ study study study study study” full series on youtube just beware its different😂
@ superfannatural , please do a whole series on the mentions of John Dee on Supernatural.
Are you going to do a video about Pagan Gods?
a sriga or scagory is litterly a trem meaning vampier
Awesome man! Keep em coming!
No poker witch guy who gambles for years?
do a video about the pagon gods and their place in the universe
I love your videos
What about the Hansel and Gretal witch she ate people.
I noticed you used some of their scenes, why not mention the pair of witches that were strong enough to take down leviathan? I always thought they were the coolest in the series
Cool video, though if I'm not mistaken the Land of Oz and the Wicked Witches were actually fairies
Love your videos!
I feel like sam is kind of a forced natural the demon blood might of forced him to have a naturally high mana pool
Great video again keep it up
Green Sith Lightning, how'd you miss that?
what if babayaga is like a prototype death a sudo death. may be faer ro something and the ring gave her a phyiscal from like death
What about fairies?
What about the Hansel and Gretel witch, is she even a witch?
why theres a cut in the video ? between the wicked witch and chaman
A few days after uploading the video a segment got flagged for copyright so I had to remove it in order to keep the video monetized. It was just a quick segment talking about the wizard of Oz.
Okay thanks
I was just curious
Tbh i started to watch the tv show (i'm like at season 2 beginning)
I take my time watching it since its a long one 15 seasons
I feel the unclassified witches aren't actually witches, strictly speaking. Because of their monstrous appearance, I would classify them as either Hags (referring to D&D) or Yaga (referring to Baba Yaga). All commenters who see this, your opinions are valid, but please be nice.
Wasnt ruby a witch before she died and became a demon tho?
Yes she was a witch 🧙♀️
Do you have a discord server for ur fans?
There is a Rowena video! 🥰🥰
There is a child eating witch ...the Hänsel and Gretel one.Don't know the Episode.
So which witches were Cordellia and Spike?
Could you do pagans
What about psykers?
I thought the wicked witch was a fairy witch
