    You have every right in the world to open your videos by saying "Hi, I'm Jessica, and I have the sweetest, most soothing and beautiful voice on the planet". If you made a video just saying random words it would relieve my anxiety in about 2 minutes flat!

    These tips are amazing. I never thought to flexibility to be from the nervous system, but it makes so much sense! Thanks so much for making this video 🙏🏻🙏🏻💗

    Thank you so much for your classes! I've never been flexible. Some people are naturally flexible and some have to work on it, and I've always struggled to touch my toes even when stretching everyday. Your videos have taught me so much more than how to pose. 💜💜

    I have always been very flexible and doing yoga with your classes every day since the beginning of this year have only made me more flexible, so this video is not for me. But I just wanted to leave a comment here where you may see it to let you know how much your classes help me every day to wind down (and/or energize) and how I appreciate that you have so many different classes for different days. I also really like the way you speak and guide your classes, thanks to you I have been able to start and keep my yoga journey going (currently challenging myself to 365 days of yoga). You are a wonderful teacher! And I am so glad I found your channel.
    Edit: Unrelated, but just because it's probably fun to know for you - I'm a European watching from Japan because I live here 🙃

    Thank you Jessica for your tips and videos in general 💕! Yes, honouring one's body is very important! I learned it the hard way when I took a workshop with Kathryn Budig, pushed myself way too much to do a pose that I wasn't ready for and fell and broke my big toe as a result. It hurt for a very long time and though it happened some ten years ago, it still hurts at times. This unfortunate experience taught me to be mindful and loving to my body's capacities and limitations. We need to love what we've got in terms of our physical embodiment 🤗!

      I’m so sorry you had that happen to you. Sometimes injuries can teach us valuable lessons. I had a similar experience as you and it taught me the importance of patience and working with my body not against it. Thank you for sharing this. Sending lots of love 💗

    Thanks! Good to add some extra knowledge to my repertoire. I have been doing yoga pretty consistently (every day or every other day) for about two years, and I have only seen about a five-inch increase in my hamstring flexibility since I started. They remain stubbornly inflexible. I am trying to do the splits. Hopefully I can incorporate some of your tips and it will get better.

    • @JessicaRichburg

    What you said about the nervous system makes me wonder if people with more emotional trauma have more trouble with flexibility. For example, someone with a history of sexual assault having pelvic floor muscle dysfunction, which I know is a thing. Wonder if emotional trauma can impact flexibility in general.

    • @JessicaRichburg
      @JessicaRichburg  2 роки тому +4

      This is such an interesting topic. I’ve had conversations with people before who have experienced trauma and each believe their body has physical limitations because of it. When you think of the mind-body connection it makes a lot of sense, and it’s one of the reasons why yoga is so amazing for emotional release and healing. It would be interesting to see more studies done on this!

      @@JessicaRichburg Yes! I've had similar thoughts. I'm also training to become a licensed therapist so will be doing more personal research into that. I love doing yoga "with you" on youtube!

    Hello Jessica,
    Thank you for this informative video. In the video you mentioned warming up before doing flexibility training. I was wondering what your thoughts are on doing static stretches after a warm shower. Does this warm up the body enough to do static stretches for flexibility? Or is it best to warm up with more traditional warm ups?

    • @JessicaRichburg
      @JessicaRichburg  2 роки тому

      Hi Jennifer! Great question. Warming up through a hot shower will definitely raise your body’s core temp and help loosen muscles. It won’t give you the full benefits that you would get from a traditional warm-up with movement, however for light static stretches my personal take is it’s typically okay. You may want to experiment and see what works best for you!

    1. always warm up
    2. work on both flexibility & mobility
