This is the king of the HPOP videos. The only thing I'd like to see is a little more tool recommendations for EGR users. You were right. It do come out with EGR, but that was a fun 90 mins with your legs dangling unsupported of the front of the truck 😂
Hey great video, just a heads up though. The "icp sensor" that needs a special tool. Is actually the ipr sensor. I get them backwards sometimes too. Keep up with the videos man, still great content.
Excellent man thanks for the help. This majorly helped me out brother. I have a 6.0 AAAAND a duramax...... so i have zero money!lol. And i am forced to do all this stuff myself. But i love it anyway. So thanks for paving my road into here.
Where are the common leaks that the hpop has? I just bought my first 6.0 from a buddy and he thinks it’s just leaking because it still has about 500-550 psi once warm and then has a very hard start once warm, and also, great video, I was really worried about what it would take to work on the hpop and this video has shown me that it’s not hard at all
My brother just got a 6.0 and has crank no start everything else seems good, had a buddy say hpop its a 2006. Actually looks pretty easy i think the only thing that makes working on these trucks is just getting in the engine bay lol how fast can you do a hpop you think?
You said if I own a 6L power stroke I definitely have three hundred dollars.... Well let me tell you I don't have $300 Because of the fact that I own a 6L powerstroke🤣🤣
Yes and the way you can test to see if the h pop is failed with absolute certainty is removing your IPR valve and installing a ball valve on the IPR test fitting so that you can completely block air at the IPR port. Then connect shop air to a test fitting at the ICP port and listen for leaks. If your HPOP is failing more than likely you will hear gurgling and air if you use a piece of heater hose and listen down the oil filter housing. Of course you'll want to drain the filter housing first to make it easier to hear. A word of caution though: If this is the leak that you have because the h pop is pushing oil into the low pressure system you want to make sure to use the starter lead on the passenger side to turn the engine over a few times so that the h pop will pull all the oil out of the oil cooler area. If you don't do this and then pop the cover on the oil cooler there will be a big mess waiting to spill out all over the valley.
Doing my Hpop now and there’s no way to get that cover out without removing the egr cooler 😭 the three bolts on that side done even have room to be removed after they’re unscrewed.
Good day to you Mr Scott. You said that if egr isn't deleted it will be a bit more complicated. We'll sir I'm almost ready to toss in the towel this here is for tha birds
Geez man you make a video on how to remove the h pop and then don't show removing the hpop you point the camera in the general direction of a few bolts and then cut to having it completely out of the engine valley. 👌
@@jessevella7616 when the video is called how to replace the hpop, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to expect the person making the video to show us where the freaking bolts are. It helps to know exactly what to go after when you haven't been working on one of these trucks before and have next to no idea what the hell you're doing lol
If you put RTV ANYWHERE under that cover it will swell and act like a hydraulic pry bar, and sometimes cause a leak. These plates have rubber gaskets to seal the plate. You DO NOT need RTV
I do not agree my friend. Where the rear cover meets the block you have to put a VERY little like in the video. The rubber gasket under the HPOP cover wont seal that part all the way due to the small step from the block to the rear cover. Pretty much in all cases if you have a rubber gasket like this you dont need RTV if the sealing surface is level. ex EJ series valve covers, this case it will not hurt one bit to use that little bit of RTV where i did.

It's an IPR valve. Not a sensor

03 and 04 is common for the hpop. 05+ typically isn’t the hpop, usually dummy plug/stand pipes or stc fitting. I’ve got an 05 and am chasing the

Hi Scott, thanks for very helpful video, but how you know that the oil pump is the problem?

Really good you make it look so easy
Thank you! Cheers!
What convinced you the hpop was your problem? I am chasing a low oil pressure (crank no start) condition on my 04 6.0L. Thanks!
Very helpful video, now did it your truck? Run before you changed it or it didn't turn on
Thx for the video...How long does HPOP replacement take for someone with good mechanical skills to complete...????
A couple hours.
@@ScottMyers5189 Thx
What were the tell tale symptoms that caused you to notice the hpop was going bad?
Long cranking before firing. That’s nearly the only way to tell unless you have a scanner. Then you’ll notice barely over 500 psi of oil pressure
You said if I own a 6L power stroke I definitely have three hundred dollars.... Well let me tell you I don't have $300 Because of the fact that I own a 6L powerstroke🤣🤣
bahahahah
Accurate 😂
If u buy a 6.0 then u should understand ur gonna have to spend money on these things buy one for 10 and put 10 into it and u got a really nice truck
I bout a super nice dump truck but when it runs for awhile it won't start until it cools down
@@ronaldbailey7365 try checking IPR valve first.
What pump was it?
Could this be the reason for no start ?
Absolutely if it's not putting out 500psi it won't start

I believe you forgot a bolt on the Turbo right side where the up pipe is. Two bolts hold it down then u have the two rear clamps
Good eye my friend. I never put that bolt back. The two bolts plus the down pipe and the up pipes holding it is plenty.
My late 04 f250 6.0 started turning off when It gets to running temp. Could that be because hpop leak?
My suggestion would be to put air into the high-pressure oil system and look for leaks
Doing my Hpop now and there’s no way to get that cover out without removing the egr cooler 😭 the three bolts on that side done even have room to be removed after they’re unscrewed.
Is there any torque required for the hpop pump or cover ?
This is gonna b fun
New to the channel. Thanks for sharing. Glad u are feel better.
How do you line the gear on the hpop? Or does it just go in?
Just wiggle it around and make sure the gears mesh correctly. 🍻
Good video 👍

Why wouldn’t one use a Motorcraft HIPOP?
Got an easy one there bub
Thanks
No problem
How did u know the hpop was bad ??
What upgrades do u have?
Engine wise the truck has been deleted also has 5 in turbo back, intake, upgraded intercooler piping both cold and hot side and it’s also tuned.
where are you located?

There’s 6 fasteners you remove them and pull the pump off, not much to show?

Why not use an adjustable instead of cutting a wrench
an adjustable that opens up that bug will not fit in that spot.
