They have got to be the most advanced drawer runners I've ever seen, it looked like a transformer was hiding in there. Beautiful unit, it will look amazing installed, and kudos for the motion detection on the lights, totally stealing that idea from you!

    Hey Joey
Enjoyed your video, I’m about to install an undermount sink into 40mm cedar, thanks for the tips and tricks. I would love to see this process (installing an undermount sink) as a video on its own.
    Thanks

Looks awesome mate, funny seeing you working through the instructions. I did a job with these runners once and was racking my brain trying to figure them out too. For your wide drawer they make an anti racking device called a synchronisation kit that stops it engaging one side and not the other. I highly recommend it. I used it on my entertainment unit for my 950mm drawer and it works great

I am late to view this -- but "wow!", it is beautiful. A question if you have time ..... I have two pieces of solid mahogany 1"x36"x36" (table top) that I am want to use to make something similar . Would you recommend cutting it into 3"x28" strips and glueing them together .. OR .. using the a 1" thick sheet as the top (is it strong enough?) ... OR ... gluing the 2 sheets together to make a sheet 2" thick? Since the vanity would be 28"20" it would not use the entire sheets so the mahogany left over would be for a 'front' to hide the pipes and a drawer fronts. Thoughts?

I like the idea that it's fully floating and highlighting that with the LEDs. But some of the construction and finishing details, like the exposed plywood edges when you open a drawer, just makes me cringe.

Bit of a long post from me on this video - as usual loving the quality of your work and wishing you were in the UK ! I'd be asking you if you could help me some pieces or to train me :) Can't help but thinking when I saw you cut the wood for the drawer fronts that if I tried that I'd end up going askew and probably cutting my own hands off - likewise when you drilled the holes to screw stuff into I'd end up getting them askew so the screws would never sit flush with the metal bracket *sigh* !
I'd like to ask a quick question about the drawers if you don't mind please ? I've put together some stuff from Ikea and the problem I have is that the drawer fronts are askew but I can't work out how to fix this - did you have this problem on yours and do you know how to go about fixing it please ? Is it the runners that are not straight or the front of the drawer which is the problem ? (or is it both) ?
A few points I'd like to raise on how I would do things slightly different - please don't take this as criticism - this vanity unit is yours and you use it how you see fit - for my purposes they'd be a couple of things I'd change.
    1) The front of the vanity unit that you've screwed into place which hides where the waste pipe is - I'd be tempted to make that into a hinge, so it can hinge upwards - that way you can put something a bit taller into there without having to turn it sideways and more importantly if it ever came to having to unblock the pipe etc then it would mean easier access without having to unscrew anything
    2) The lighting is gorgeous but for me I'd be using it in a darkened room (e.g. in the middle of the night when I didn't want to switch on the room light) and the way that the light is situated means that depending on how deep the drawers are, there might not be enough light to actually "reach" into the drawers to see clearly what's in there
    3) Given your God mode ability in wood work I was shocked to see you use screws and ply ! :) I totally get it's not visible etc and real world issues like cost and time get in the way, so as I said previously I'm not having a go !
    4) I love the floating idea of this unit using the side metal brackets - not trying to teach Grandma how to suck eggs (A UK saying), but given how narrow that area is how will you be securing it to make sure the unit can't be unwittingly pulled away from the wall ? (e.g. if someone is using it to hold onto while getting out of the bath and slips - the whole unit might come away from the wall)
    5) Not sure if the taps will be wall mounted etc but a gentle reminder to allow for them (sorry - don't mean to teach Grandma how to suck eggs - I know you're building an entire house so probably have this in hand already) :)
    6) It's interesting to see how the sink is mounted and how this looks from the "right side" (i.e. from where it will be used and visible) and also to see the different styles in play. I appreciate you've used glue to hold it in place and again it's your vanity unit, but for me I'd be tempted to build a lip where the sink would slot into as then you wouldn't be relying on using glue to hold the sink in place - but gravity too - but I totally appreciate the resulting finish wouldn't look as good as yours currently does
Thanks for reading and apologies in advance if I've annoyed anyone ;)

    • @KingPostTimberWorks
      @KingPostTimberWorks  7 років тому

+edwardquan hi, I'll try answer everything so answers may seem abrupt. (Not annoyed)
Draw fronts should have adjustment screws where it attaches to the runner.
I'll be able to access plumbing by removing the large drawer.
Ply is indeed cheap and in this case waterproof.
Vanity will be screwed to wall on the right end and onto the steel bracket on the left. You can see it in place on my vid house build 6
Under mount sinks are usually installed this way.

If you hit these draws with you leg when brushing teeth ( or the child ) the draw will open?.The draw under the sink maybe a cover in it so when you close it , it will cover the pipe . This so you dont put things on that spot in the draw hitting the pipe ( i've had to fix myn millions of times..😓

    • @KingPostTimberWorks
