Thank the lord for you! Someone who actually shares their measurements with the world. I couldn’t find one video where someone DIY’ed a platform bed AND shared the measurements. Free or not, at least it’s shared. Thank you. 💜
Thanks Valpor...it was a good time...and we knew we were going to have to work fast while he was out here - so we wanted to make sure it was something big, but that could be done relatively quickly.
Chris, Glad you guys got together and I was able to find you via Johnny;s channel. Look forward to seeing many more of your videos. Thank you guys for sharing what you do and the processes that are involved.
You have a voice that can be used to narrate children's adventure stories. Bedtime stories. Aside from that, this was an awesome build and great idea. End result was fantastic. I like the option of staining/painting the wood. Again, good video!
I dig the concept. I wish it would have been done with red or white oak to make it pop. Overall the design and concept was great. The headboard made the whole project and really took it to the next level. Great job.
My first time watching one of your videos. I accidentally stumbled on this while searching for nightstand ideas. Your whole set up is very calming, artistic, and enjoyable! Like a UA-cam artisan of building(if that makes sense) your narration is so soothing! I appreciate the content man! Keep it up
Gonna skip the base and slats and just build the surrounding part and headboard but starting this tomorrow! Needed a bed low enough for our dachshunds and not paying 1500+ for a platform bed! Awesome build!
Great project idea and videos, thanks. I bought the plans and scaled up the dimensions from a standard Full mattress (54" x 75") up to a standard Queen (60" x 80"). But, after cutting all the planks, I realize that the design is actually a bit too short for a standard Full, and as a result, my side boards are a little too short to fit my existing Queen mattress (it will probably just barely fit, but with no clearance for sheet access at the head or foot). After studying the Sketchup, I realize that you built it around a 74" long mattress, which is 1" shorter than a standard. I'm sure that there's some variation in normal mattress lengths, but I would suggest that your plans should be based on the standard size (and yes, I should have drawn it all out and measured my mattress before cutting... lesson learned) Now I'm debating between cutting 1" from the footboards (which may or may not mess up the symmetry), or else shifting the side rails out by an inch or two, and adding a cosmetic spacer at the foot. Neither is ideal, but the Purebond plywood is too expensive to justify re-cutting all the side planks. I'll make it work, but figured I should point it out.
@@Miggggy Hey, thanks for asking - it came together okay, but with some reworking required on my end. That's due more to my learning this stuff on the fly than with the source material, but the adjustments I had to make to turn it into a queen size didn't help. I'm going to put together a video of the results, along with some thoughts on the size adjustments, will post here.
good job, good music, good music, good mood, good friend, good bed.....I finished my "good" but I know u have a bunch more waiting to be shown us....thanks...for good example ;)
I have to say I am quite impressed by your video and the editing. Found it funny when you labeled the kid a and kid b. This video made me smile. Thanks for all the tips and your hard work making this video.
I started by watching your diy modern tv stand (the one with colored doors), and have now watched at least 10 of your videos. I really like the way each video is presented and I love the format! Keep making cool videos!
I like you Chris! You are the one who’s gotten me interested in furniture building! I recently built my first piece. It was a three legged stool. Thank you for the inspiration!
So did Johnny sleep on the floor until you made the bed for him ;) Chris, again, always great storytelling. You are a master at what you do. Thanks for sharing!
Cool project! I like the form of the bed, and I like plywood patterns in general, but here I'd like to cover the sides with a layer of plywood, it will give a more clean look. Anyway your idea is awesome and I think this bed will stay for a hundred years without any problems.
Thanks..! I'm in the process of making a bed .This video gives me a lot of ideas. The bed I'll make will be similar to your design but not identical. When it comes to carpentry originality is important to me. If you do what you love, you never have to work a day in your life. Later brah..!
catnip in the garden? btw...fair warning: after kid b, you'll have to switch from man-to-man to zone-defense. Just so you can plan ahead.... collaborations and all.....
@@Foureyes.Furniture 9 times out of 10, I watch your videos in hopes of a subtle joke.. dont get me wrong, your great work and 90s, day time TV show / Bob Ross type style keeps me interested as well. Huge fan, first time writer, long time watcher -John
Great video Chris. I don't know if I like the final bed itself, but the video is awesome. And you got us with the damn "in bed" subtle joke at the end. Can I like this twice for subtle humor and video work?
If u ever build this again... I might suggest zip bolts for the base... has a bolt with a lag side and the other side goes into a cam... just a suggestion ... great vid !!
Great video, great build. I am in the process of selecting and buying a new bed. Sent this link to my wife in an attempt to convince her to let me build the base. The last comment/jest caused me to click the subscribe button. =)
Hey Chris, In building modular bed for your son video you said “it’s first and last time you will saw me building a bed” and here you are building another bed. I have a good memory hahaha

This deserves a revisit with the current format of videos.
What got me into your channel is your soft voiced narration, and music. It's very relaxing. Keep it up. That's what sets you apart from everyone.
Thanks Kenny :)
This man is both woodsmith and wordsmith 😂
It's really cool to see you two work together on this one. And that you use just plywood not some fancy hardwood.
Thanks Valpor...it was a good time...and we knew we were going to have to work fast while he was out here - so we wanted to make sure it was something big, but that could be done relatively quickly.
It was a super fun build, and I love using plywood in this way. It’s an incredibly versatile material.

Oh and I'm a God this is for you for doing a beautiful job for making a note💙💙💙.
3 videos in now, you have the best sense of humor! I've subscribed, and put my work to the side that I was trying to get done this evening.. haha
This project.....blew my mind.......
I just dont understand why anyone would hit the dislike button....
This is inspirational (if this is an English word, I'm Dutch). Great idea. Maybe someday I will be just as creative. Thank you.
Hey Frits...it most certainly is :)
Definitely caught me by surprise at the end, hilarious, great build!

I don't know what it is about your voice but I could listen to you all day. Have you ever thought of recording audiobooks?
Hey MrD. I've had a few people mention that. I haven't thought about it - but I don't think I'd be good at it. I'm not the greatest reader :)
