    I think a video on surgical mistakes, etc, would be interesting. It seems to be a topic which isn’t talked about as much as it should be, and I’m sure you have some stories to tell. Cheers!

    I gave a full police statement and hope he survived. 😞

    I got stabbed 19 times. One of those injuries was to the same left side but through the ribs, chest drain. My life is a living hell in pain. Thank you for this channel.

    When would you use a mesh to repair the diaphragm? Was rotating in surgery and had patient who had similar stab wound 20 years ago (although not sure how big) and it gradually developed into diaphragmatic hernia. He presented with DOB SOB, CXR showed bowel loops in chest cavity and atelectasis. Hernia was about 10cm diameter and was repaired by mesh.

      The really old ones with retracted muscle that cannot be closed because too much tension on the repair require mesh.

    Apply pressure.. until you can get them into surgery... was my guess.

      not much anymore. mostly has been replaced by the FAST exam. but its a useful skill to know.

    How do you know what to handle first? Obviously stop bleeding first, but then how do you decide afterwards? What takes priority?

      Do a first aid course, it's the best thing you will ever do even if you never have to use it

      No one discounts what doctors do but you cannot compare them to NBA players. Becoming a doctor is not easy but making the NBA is like one in a million.

    I was stabbed in my right pectoralis with a eight inch chefs knife it went in a inch and a half and nicked my heart and partially collapsed my right lung I know I shouldn't have but I pulled it out and sliced my hand open doing so now I had a para cardial window and I'm still trying to figure out why I'm still sore can you or anyone explain to me why six months later I'm still in pain

      Interesting. Could be a nerve that was injured. Where is the pain?

      @@drbuckparker the pain is located on the large abdominal scar and in my upper back by my shoulder blade roughly direct opposite the wound site and around the third rib on the right side it's just not making much sense
