- 2022 Camaro Anti-Theft, Anti-Carjacking, Kill Switch, Stop Battery Drain. #camaro #carjacking #batterydrain Where is the battery located in the Camaro. Remote control battery disconnect.
Just installed mine. What a pain in the ass it is to access that area. Thank you for the video!
I had to take out all that carpet cardboard. Yes it was a pain. My pleasure.
Thanks for sharing coach.. This video tutorial and tips will help those car owners to secure their car from the car jacker...
Thank you
I did a jumper wire with a fuse so I don’t loose everything every time. Also cycling the computer constantly may, I say may cause it a problem. The small fuse just pops if you try to start it.
Ok. A different method. Cool.
Can you go into more detail with this please I don’t understand
@@alexanderperisteris47 I have a remote relay which kills battery power completely. Without power you cannot start any vehicle. The problem is this removes all your presets. So I took a 12ga. Wire and ran it across from the battery to the relay. This keeps power on. I installed a 30 amp fuse. I don’t loose my presets. If someone got in even with the key and tried to start it the fuse would just pop. A wire that small cannot carry the amps you need to start a car. You also need to lock your hood so they can’t just remove it. I doubt they would even try but you never know. In my opinion the easiest way to defeat them is with very old school ideas.
@@alexanderperisteris47 it is a remote control that disconnects your battery from your engine. Once you have activated the battery remote control, the engine will not start even if the driver have the keyfob.
This is a huge downside to this device. It is just a "Dumb" device, not sophisticated enough to prevent other issues and problems.
What good is that you show us this item but do not list a link so we can get it to?
Here is the upgraded version

Great idea, except using it as a battery disconnect means you would have to reset things like your clock etc each time you use it.
But the design on this one means it’s a remote disconnect relay. You could just as easily use this to remote disconnect the fuel pump relay or starter relay. Which would be effective for theft prevention and easier to hide if someone looked under the hood.
That is a great Idea. I will try to find some time to do it. Thank you.
Man I should’ve did this my Camaro ss got stolen and haven’t gotten it back
I feel for you. I did this so if I get held up at a gas station, I can give them the keys but it won't start.
You can still push start a manual, no battery needed. I want to do a fuel pump kill switch
I have a car here in the Philippines and since I don't use it much, the battery died. So I pushed it down hill, ignition to on pos, popped it on 2nd gear.... no start. I had to charge the battery a little bit just so when I put it on ignition on, the fuel pump will run for 3 secs. But your Idea is correct though. You can still do the fuel pump. That's even harder to steal.
You need ignition for the car to stay on my guy and ignition comes from the battery especially in these newer cars like the camaro
True.
@1985GrandPrix yes it does. The only thing I reset are both of my windows. It ask me to roll down and roll up.
Not if the Electronic brake is engaged, can’t turn it off unless the car is running
When you disconnect the battery with this switch does it also remove your presets?
My cars stereo automatically connects to my cell phone to play music and use google maps. The clock and all other stuff stays normal. The only thing I have to do is when I reconnect my battery on my camaro is open my window and close it for driver side and passenger side one time. That is all. Everything is normal. I love the security it gives me and I have left my car for 30 days when I went on my vacation and when I came back, the car started right up. I also installed it on my 2021 tundra. I don't have to reset anything. I don't have to reset anything. I love it!!! On my next car, 2025 Mustang GT, I will install the same gadget.
I got a kill switch Glock 19
I need one of that.
do you have the link to this product?
This is the upgraded version. I have it on my 23 Hellcat as well.

By any chance would you know how to connect it to the positive terminal ? The kit I got only came with the positive terminal fittings .
It can be installed on either post, positive or negative side.
I'm going to assume that since the battery is disconnected the alarm will not work?
Yes. Nothing will work.
I have discovered that if you turn on your aux (key on Ignition off) and wait a few seconds, then attempt to start the engine, it will start normal with no problem.
I bought the exact same one and for some reason it isn’t getting power
Return it and get another one. 1 failed on me, it would not start my Tundra. At first, I thought my battery was discharged. But it was the poor contacts inside that relay. Now, it is working fine.
Disconnecting the battery would immobilize the starter and fuel pump and park brake release door locks and is the best way by far to immobilize the vehicle as nothing works including the OBD port. This is all great except the memory for window position for example would need to be re-learned every time the disconnect is used, Not a huge deal but consider there is also the risk of damage to the onboard computer from disconnecting and connecting the battery. Battery replacement is a fairly rare occurrence but if your in and out a dozen times a day you can see that you are seriously risking damage to a very expensive component in the car and if it gets fried your vehicle is bricked until it is replaced. Now instead if the battery disconnect switch was wired directly into the the starter the engine would not crank over. Not using as a battery disconnect but as a starter disconnect. This would be great for Automatic transmission equipped vehicles but manuals could possibly be bump started. This is where the battery disconnect switch wired in line to the fuel pump would not stop the engine from cranking but without fuel the engine will not start. Thing is in our efforts to protect our vehicles we can inflict damage on the vehicle and grief on ourselves in the attempt. I have been looking into ways to protect vehicles that are push button start and have come to understand that any modern vehicle is heavily computerized. This changes the game as any computer is very sensitive to surges arcs and shorts. If you don't think what I am saying is accurate that is fine but before you dive into theft prevention solutions do lots of research first. First thing would be asking your dealership about repeated disconnection of the battery and the possible risks involved. I don't post this to be a troll but understand that I would be furious if I thought something was a good thing, Installed it and it ended up costing me big money to repair.
You have a good point. I have this installed in mid of 2022 on my 2021 Toy Tundra Truck and on my 2022 Camaro SS. So far I have not had any problems yet. I will try to do a starter kill switch and a fuel pump in the near future.
@@machinemods Was not looking to rain on the video. I realize we need solutions that are effective. At the same time there can be serious consequences when modifying electrical systems in today's cars. Spikes in voltage is common when initially connecting of the battery. In fact I have to wonder if the switch would be better installed on the ground side rather than on the positive. I would need to look at proper installation procedure of the battery however I believe the ground is the first to come off when removing and last when putting it back in, Partially so the battery is not accidently shorted by a tool if it contacts a ground while on the positive terminal. A starter interrupt is great in automatic equipped vehicles as the thief can't kill the battery trying to start the vehicle. However even with access to the OBD port a fuel pump interrupt stops the vehicle from starting all together. So will work with both Automatic and manual transmission. Another possibility to include would be the park brake system. This is electronically engaged and disengaged. I know if you put the manuals into gear with the park brake on the computer will signal the brakes to release if you try to move the car. If a person could find that system and disable the release signal it would also make the car more difficult to move. They couldn't release the park brake and push it away from the home. The park brake and fuel pump would be a good combination I would think. I may go that route but incorporate 2 relays run by a remote disconnect. This way the remote kills both relays for 2 different systems. On the relays are energized, Fuel pump and Park Brake are in circuit. Park and turn the car off get out and lock the car up then activate the disconnect disabling the fuel pump and brake release. So that is my plan thus far but I need to look a little further into it. The nice thing with including relays is you can add even a third relay if there is another system you want to disable like power to door locks as an example. Even the transmission park release circuit can be used ( You must push in the brake to release the shifter to get it out of park in Automatic ) Clutch must be pressed to start a manual ) Open those wires with a switch and either the vehicle starts but don't move ( can't get out of park ) or the engine will not crank over. There is lots of ways to make the vehicle immobile.
@@inthestix100 you have great Ideas, bro.
@@machinemodsI need ideas on where to put my kill switch in line with my fuel pump. I just don’t know where to put the switch itself
If your relay fails while driving, your engine will shut off. That is why I am hesitant to do the fuel cut off. Unless I can find a reliable relay? If you want, I can make a video on how to make a basic cut off kill switch.
Can you provide link to buy this or what is the name of this product?

How long does the battery on remote keys last?
@kranthik5531 I have installed them back on 2022, it is still working right now.
What about side mount batteries
Just follow the same procedure and you will be ok.
This is what I need to do. My 2015 Camaro 2ss was stolen from my house and found in Oakland stripped
I agree bro.
@@machinemods The only problem is in California. It'll affect the smog if it's directly connected to battery unless it's connected to the ignition. But I might as well go extra mile and put a pedal lock steering lock, boot lock and the whole 10 yards on it
Oh. I didn't know that. My car is a 22. So it will be awhile before I have to do smog.
@@machinemods Right on that. Saves you sometime. Yeah they got mine pretty clean. It was parallel parked in front of my house hella tight between two cars. I was sleeping with my bedroom window open all night which is close to the front of the house. Didn't even hear my exhaust go off and I have a MBRP XP series catback so usually people could hear it. Little bit down the street. Didn't hear nothing. No alarm. No nothing went to bed at 11:00 p.m. woke up at 4:00 a.m. to drive out to s*** hole San Francisco to work as a HVAC tech saw my car was gone. Looked at my phone. Gave myself Max one hour before I consider it a total loss. They found it off e Street in Oakland. Only the transmission engine catalytic converter, and all my interior. For 15 my car was spotless look like fresh off the lot. Still the f*** part is I bought it back in July. Had it less than a year I parled from State prison March 5th, 2021. I did 10 years in prison for a case I should have walked on self-defense. I was a victim of a bully. I chose to stand up for myself and my friends ended up doing 10 years. Within less than 2 years of being out I became a certified HVAC technician and was able to buy me my first dream car all on my own. No co-sign or no nothing no help. Now. I had it robbed for me. Right now it's just waiting for the bank to finalize everything and then save up for another down payment and get a new one. Unfortunately the insurance only appraised it at 30k, which I know it's worth way more than that. I did get my cat back exhaust back off of it. They left it for some reason. I still owe 32k on it, at a 38k.
With this remote control battery cutoff, when I go to gas stations, In one pocket, I have the remote to disable the car and on the other pocket I have the remote to start the car. If ever they rob me for the key/car, they won't be able to start my car while I secure myself in so distance away. I've been to Frisco and Oakland, I wouldn't drive my nice car over there. 😒
I am sorry about what happened to your car. I don't understand why people have to steal from others. I hope you will overcome this.
Any tips of my time and date keeps changing everytime I I activate the switch?
When my phone connects to my infotainment, it updates the date and stuff, except for the radio station presets. Right now I am developing another killswitch of my own. Let me know if you're interested.
Where do you purchase?

Can I still remote start my car ?
If the anti system is activated, then nothing will start. Once you deactivate the anti theft, then you can remote start it.
So can i leave this on overnight??
I am always on business trips for months. I have left this on for 6 weeks and when I come back from my trip, both of my '21 Tundra and '22 Camaro SS starts up right away.
@@machinemods i have a 07 trailblazer ss so definitely don’t want to get stolen, would anything rest like my stereo or like a tune in my ecu or ecm??
@@juantomas1423 my first concern before was the Computer in the vehicle. I installed it and tried it. Man, I love it. My cars computer are fine.
