I used to be a c4 hater but they’ve grown on me. The zf6 in the c4 is much nicer than the t56 that’s in the c5. Having now driven a friends lt1 manual and his c4 zr1 they are more fun than a lot of other cars.
Well that makes me feel a little better. I just really want it to be sorted, and very few cars out there for sale really are. They all need something... but hey, with a cheaper car like this you can do it as you go. That's one big perk!
I used to live in Michigan before I moved to Tucson but I also have a c4 corvette collector edition and I love it. Great video!!! I recommend Vettestorations in Southfield Michigan. They’re a corvette specialty shop. They took care all my c4 corvette problems. They replaced my intake's manifold gaskets as I had oil leaks from it and got a new drivers door module switch to make your window go all the way down with one button that was discontinued but they found a used one in good shape for me and ever since I’ve had no problems. Highly reccomened for your service. Love your c4 dude I wish I had a manual. Just subbed too!
Thank you for the kind words! Southfield is a good few hours from me, but to have a good shop that knows these cars... it's probably worth the trip. Thank you for the tip, I'm going to save that info and if I decide to go further or need specialty stuff done, I will look them up!!! And thank you for subscribing!!

@@mattquerio well my KONI’s are single adjustable and they are very affordable. Love your car it’s very clean! LT4s are beastly! I did a full review of mine.

I was looking for a C3 last year but was having no luck, so I drove a C4 for shits and giggles. I wasn't expecting to like it like I did. Now I own a '96 LT4 lol.
Hahaha I hear stories like this all the time!!! People fall in love with these cars after driving them. They really are the only performance bargain left.
Been considering getting rid of my Hellcat. I had a C4 many years ago. Thought about selling the CAT and dumping money into a C4 LT4, C4 ZR1 or maybe a C5Z or a C6Z. Don't get me wrong, I love the Challenger Hellcat but its a very different beast.
The Hellcat is great. It just depends on what you want. The platform is so limited because of the weight. Even a C6 with the LS3... you can slap a procharger on it and obliterate hellcats. I have a C6 LS3 auto vert sitting in my driveway right now. I am carsitting for a friend. That car has a dyno tune, stock, and traps 117mph. Slap a procharger on, and you have a car that traps 130+. With no other mods.
Thank you! The M Coupe is objectively a better car. 2.7 times more rigid in fact. But also 50-100% more money than the Roadster lol. I agree, the clownshoe is the elite spec. If they were the same price I'd have one, for sure.
@mattquerio I can't believe how much they cost! Actually, before I bought my 92 C4, just for the heck of it I looked up the clownshoe to see what they were going for and they were so far outta budget!! 🤣🤣🤣
Just bought a mint 1991 with 29K.....just need to replace the fuel injectors...car sat for years. I would keep the vette ,,,,,,it more comfortable and fun and better looking !!!
Well you don't have my exact C4 if you have a 1995, mine is a 1996, so it has the LT4 which was 96 only. But if you have a 30k mile LT1 6 speed, thats cool too!
4G isn't bad for parts and labor. My '93 cost $3.3k for tires, brakes, rotors, a pinion seal and leaf spring bushings. Ball joints, tie rod ends and shocks next but I'm not in a huge rush.
Bilstein B8's! Good choice on the shocks. I like the B6's on my C5; really not that harsh of a ride at all. Though most guys go for the C6 shocks on the C5; why I'm not sure. Hey I saw your older vid of the supercharged C4 with "low oil pressure" and a built short block for $9k! Jeez that was a good deal for someone. I know it's been a couple years but I still wonder what the cold and hot oil pressure was on that car. Heck my C5 runs over 40 psi cold and about 26 psi hot which is just fine on synthetic 5w30. In fluid dynamics, Bernoulli's principle states that an increase in the speed of a fluid occurs simultaneously with a decrease in pressure. So basically fast moving oil is going to have a lower pressure than slow moving oil. 20w50 vs. 5w30. Old school guys FREAK OUT if the engine isn't over 50psi oil pressure so they'll add some thick oil additive aka Lucas which looks like sticky pancake syrup, to raise the oil pressure which is a function of slowing the oil flow down and raising the pressure. Like squeezing the end of a water hose...slowing the flow and raising the pressure in the hose. I don't use the stuff, and frankly neither does GM. On my oil cap it says "Mobil 1 5W30"...not Lucas. Oh the C4 is getting some new parts installed by a shop! Cool, now you'll get a warranty. Most of the parts and labor on my C5 have a 2 year warranty which is figured into the price of high quality parts and labor. The shop I use really likes factory GM parts or Napa. The owner does NOT like Autozone parts and will not install them. That's his prerogative though and I don't care as long as the stuff works.
There is so much bad antiquated data about oil pressure! I agree! Old timers want it through the roof, but... that isn't the way for longevity. Yeah the supercharged car went local. He finished it to do half mile racing, but sold it before competing:( Now I have no idea where it is.
Matt be careful with the B8 shocks i have them on my car paired with H&R lowering springs but keep in mind the shock itself is a shorter shock so the suspension travel is much less than the B6’s. I know they are made for lowered cars but this really made my car bottom out so much easier and the roads in NJ suck so it happens multiple times per day. Very aggressive shock. If roads are good by you then go for it but i regret it.
The experience was extremely poor, with them tightening my lowering bolts (raising the car back up) and then cutting off the excess. So I was pissed, ordered another rear lowering bolt set, they installed it and reimbursed me, but they literally left out washers that came with the kit, making the car sit uneven after a week, and so I ordered a 3rd lowering bolt kit, and fixed it myself. It was not a good experience today, and mechanics today aren't what they used to be. They're too used to plugging in a computer, and using instructions that specifically tell them how to replace a part on a modern car. There is no common sense.
@@mattquerio Agree. I had a 21 WRX STI and got rid of it. Subaru mechanics were horrible. They often would do more damage than fixing the issue. So I said no more, got rid of the car.
The smart move is to invest in what you like. Keeping a car that doesn't depreciate is great economy and the key in succeeding in that is to like the car enough. Otherwise you will sell too early and lose money at the same time that you drive something you don't enjoy as much.

I have the exact same vette with 62k on it. Had the bushings done on it and it was a noticeable difference. Where do you think the values of these are heading?
Well, they definitely boomed a bit during covid, but so did everything. They've corrected a bit since. I don't think they'll ever be high end collectibles, more of a niche thing. Sort of like the late C3 L82 cars equipped with a manual. They command a lot more money than a typical L48 auto, but they're still quite attainable. These will always live in the shadow of the ZR1.
Thank you! Once it's sorted I'll do some baseline runs for fun. I'm not sure what the time-line will be, but if I keep it I'd love to do a full exhaust, and gears.
I agree. I research cars and watch the market more than most sane individuals. I am yet to see anything that touches the value. I think so many people look down on them without driving them, it keeps them cheap. I'm okay with that lol.
Wait till you need to repair that ZF6-40 six speed transmission. There are ZERO new parts available. My 96 LT4 costed me $3200 to rebuild. Thats me sourcing serviceable used parts from around the country. That trans is the Achilles heel. It will be what eventually kills C4 Grand Sport and ZR1
You are sensationalizing a non issue. The ZF is a plenty good box. It's been used in these cars for 34 years, and there is no mass panic about them. It's robust, and plenty strong.
@mattquerio OK. So why are there no parts or support available? Could it be that they realized that there are problems with that gear box? This leads to ending production. So after 34 years, there have been enough failures to have consumed ALL of the production inventory of spare parts. THATS where the ZF6-40 is today. The only real answer is a T56 conversion. The End of stock LT4, Grand Sport, and ZR1. They are great until you get that random pop out. Then they are not!
