You can never go wrong with a black Corvette. I’m 60 I’ve owned every generation except a C1. I still own 5 Corvettes and 3 are Z06’s. I’m making my cars louder not quieter !!
I've owned 8 C5's, 2 Z06's. The problem I had with the really loud ones was that, sure, I could just turn my hearing aids down but then I couldn't hear the radar detector go off.
Dude I did the same thing to my c5 , but it was for a sound system that I installed. You will hear the difference. Bad ass c5 you have and it was an all day event for me. Good luck dude.
A C5 Z06 Titanium exhaust with a bypass would cut down on noise and doesn't choke down NA builds. I added it to my 8-2-1 headers and it ELIMINATED drone while amplifying pitch above 3500. I call it my VTEC.
I did my C5 06 2003 added the second layer of sounding and it really did help. I didn’t do my trunk which I think I will do this winter but what I wish you would’ve done was compare the decimal meter with the new Modification.
Love my NPP with the mild to wild on m c6! It is twin disc clutch to be able to go quiet at the push of a button and to bring back the glory at the push of a button i love it!
It's that exhaust drone that gets a bit much for me. I have the base C5 (because I like the swooping rear windscreen) with Long headers, no Cats, no mufflers, stage 3 cam.. lol
Great job i have a question on my 2004 c5 drivers side dooris sagging and cant find anything on the forums There doesnt seem to be any adjustibility on the door latch itself up or down/ it needs to go down about a half inch to close wirhout slamming it.Appreciate any tips
The adjustment is on the door hinges. There is 2 of them a top and a bottle of I recall I think there’s like 2 13s 2 on the top 2 on the bottom. You loosen those and tighten to adjust
Good video! One of the best statements at the end is that " doing it yourself gives you knowledge experience and confidence by getting after your project yourself." I was curious if you weighed the stock carpet and insulation? If not, no worries.
It unfortunately read the same thing before and after… however it’s quite obvious feeling that is not accurate being inside the car. I can take phone calls now being able to hear what the person is saying and they can hear me 🤯
Love you and your dad’s energy. Your car is badass. You mentioned exposed metal a couple times. I’ve only had my c5 Z06 about 3mos and want to do this exact mod. Are the floors/footwells metal? Like a tub in an Indy car? Not being a troll. Just new to corvettes altogether. Subscribed and liked. P E A C E.
FWIW you generally don't need to cover complete panels when you do this sort of thing. You can tap panels and see if it sounds hollow of tinny. Apply large chunks there and it'll stop those panels from vibrating. I understand right behind the seats is bad. Also most of the trunk.
I had to Dynamat my C5Z. It’s almost like UNZ06ING the car but it was unbearable before. You couldn’t hear yourself think. Absolutely forget getting a phone call. Conversations with difficult to hear. A good stereo didn’t overcome the road noise. Part of me was having a hard time with it because it felt sac religious but SOOO happy I did. Big difference. I’m going to go one step further and take out the rear wheel well plastic and insulate the top and reinstall them. I expect a big change from that…..🤟🏻🏁
The one car i want before the rapture. Hopefully I financially can get one. Bought my dad a mustang this year plan on paying it off tax time also went in debt for my dad to get him a single wide mobile home. I'm paycheck to paycheck kind of living right now. So maybe next year I can do for me one time
Now, for the best C5.R clone on UA-cam, I still say my C5Z06 converted with a C5.R body kit using the old panels back in the day is my car. It's on my channel. I need to do more videos on the car.
The DB meter actually did not change before and after which leads me to believe it had an issue. It was a very obvious change across a variety of different peoples opinions.
Huge miss to not show the decibel reading after change. I bet you took the reading and it wasn't very impressive so it didn't make the video. Tell me I am wrong.
It was exactly the same which lead me to believe the cheap decibel reader I was using was inaccurate. I’ve had multiple people in the car before and after who could all agree it made a dramatic difference
@@PerformanceOnWheels So it sounds like there actually wasn’t much difference after the sound insulating material was installed. Did you notice any difference? I wanted to try this, but it appears the material you used didn’t work out as expected.
@@joekoenig9587 It is a massive difference over how it was previously. I can have conversations, hear the radio, take phone calls. Well worth it. Its just not something you can really capture on video
I did not. It’s still not comfortable by any means. I simply did not want to go deaf and wanted to drive my car without needed noise canceling ear buds in
I don’t care that’s it’s not comfortable, I don’t expect it to be. I absolutely love how rough it is. I just wanted to be able to hear. Also my car is so far modified from stock there’s no comparison to how much more miserable it is now than it was stock
as a c5 owner, it isn't, the tik tok and short form content side of things is annoying but overall it's a fantastic platform and worthy of the attention imo🤷♂️
@@spades262 everyone wants this car because it has pop ups and that you can make it “look” like a rx7 and jdm. I had this car and it was nothing but electric, ac issues and leaks. Now there’s a review every week on this car.
bought my professionally built and tuned 03 Z06 in 2012 for 25K. She dynos at 580 rwhp. Running stock wheels and tires so she cannot do a proper dig but she loves humiliating Hellcats on freeway rolls.

What an awesome comment 🤙🏼🤟🏼
Why would you need a radar detector when there is no speed limit on the Autobahn?
@@BlownC5Z Who said anything about the Autobahn? Not me. I did drive on it once in a Mercedes 280 CE, top speed about 130 MPH.

The bullets are your problem. I quickly changed mine out for the PRT'S. Love them!!!

Good looking ride man. Love seeing fellow C5 Z06 owners.
Thank you!
I have the borla attack when cruising on the highway I get no drone but going threw the gears sounds amazing.
That's an awesome C5 Z06! We want more content
Working on a little house moving so we are a little bit behind on new content.. but it’s coming :):):) appreciate the support!
You should look at a stock Ti exhaust with the bypass. It’s loud outside the car but relatively quiet on the inside.
U 2 Make it an adventure 2 feel life in All its Endeavors. THANKS 4 The Enthusiasm. I'm focused. I'll let you know how mine turns out😎

I did not weight the stock carpet unfortunately no, would have been smart to do. Whoops!
I had the same exact exhaust setup minus the cats….it was louder than this. I ended up going with corsa sports and it was perfect
Dynomat really helps with vibration & vibration frequencies. If you really want a quieter cabin use closed cell foam. Jmo...
I would like my base C5 to be more quite, but I am to old to do this. So I will just live with it. Nice channel !
Thank you!
What was the decibel change in the cabin?
It unfortunately read the same thing before and after… however it’s quite obvious feeling that is not accurate being inside the car. I can take phone calls now being able to hear what the person is saying and they can hear me 🤯
The headlights make it look like a cartoon character
One of the best looking c5z on UA-cam but what’s up with the exhaust tips they look uneven is one just hanging loose?
I appreciate that!!
One of the welds on the exhaust hanger broke… I’ll be fixing it later this week. Trust me, it drives me absolutely insane😅
Where did you find them seats at, I like them? How much did they cost, and are they comfy.
There just cheap Amazon seats! Like $300 for the set. I like them more than the stock seats but they are not all that safe

I appreciate the support!!Technically it’s more or less all aluminum I believe. There is not really any metal at all other than the frame
The floors are balsa wood.
The good thing about your 17lbs is that is spread out over the cab and rear wheels as opposed to being in one corner of the car.

Did you show what the decibel reading was after the killmat?
I did not, it was the exact same which lead me to believe there was an issue with it
In one of your shots, it appears to be a Ford Maverick in the driveway, if so, I have one and it NEEDs the acoustic material ...Great Job.....Thanks
Check out my channel! We have lots of cool Maverick videos. We also have a lifted and a Lowerd one :)
@PerformanceOnWheels I just subscribed....Thanks Again
Absolutely!
I like the Cobra Kai Corvette, very nice ! :)
Hi, can you give me the details on your rims and tires? Thank you!
They are C7 R edition OEM wheels from GM!
@PerformanceOnWheels thanks. Are they 10 or 12" in the rear

I've got a c5 with a cam headers and straight pipe, doesn't bother me too bad.
Not sure why you didn’t show the decibel numbers or any recording of the interior after the mod….
The thin glass and lack of sound proofing only applies to the zo6 models the base C5 has sound proofing
Correct
Love mine
you didnt show the decibels after?
The meter read the exact same, however it was a dramatic difference
Why not show the db meter AFTER the job? Hmm but you are the one in MinnieHanna people inquire with? ;) OK
The DB meter actually did not change before and after which leads me to believe it had an issue. It was a very obvious change across a variety of different peoples opinions.
I don’t doubt that the sound proofing didn’t do a great job. But why didn’t we get to not hear it?
Not an easy task to pick up with a microphone
Sorry, didn’t know that!
