NEVER USE GEAR OIL IN DIFFERENTIALS.

- In this country, it is common to see people use one oil for both the gearbox and the differentials and this is where many problems start. They refer to it as CC oil. #DifferentialLubrication #Lubrication #LubricantsInKenya
In this video we highlight why you should NEVER USE GEAR OIL IN DIFFERENTIALS AND NEVER USE DIFFERENTIAL OIL IN THE GEARBOX EXCEPT IN CHINESE TRUCKS!!!
We have special differential oil such as heavy duty gear oil and differential oil intended for European trucks whose demand in performance is higher than normal gear and differential oil. They are Delstar Gear Oil HDX SAE 80W90 API GL-4 and Delstar Differential Oil HDX SAE 85W140 API GL-5.
You can see transmission systems have special requirement and if you are not sure the oil to use, feel free to contact us. DON’T USE GUESS WORK AS DAMAGE IS COSTLY.

Well spoken brother. Very clear information !!
Thanks for this info. Most people will get enlightened.
I think the speaker is using British terms which may confuse some viewers. In the US, we use "gear oil" for our front or rear differentials. When the British say "gear box oil" we say "manual transmission fluid" . Which is similar to gear oil but not the same. Then with 4WD vehicles there is also a transfer case, which normally uses specific "transfer case fluid" depending on make & model. I hope that helps to clear up some of the confusion. So in rear diffs use GL5 oil and in manual transmissions with synchronized gears, use GL4 fluid. Hope that helps.
I had accidentally topped up my car with recommended fluid for 6 speed Manual transmission with marked as GL-4/ GL-5 ( dual) into Rear differential ( without LSD) that probably need GL-5 fluids about 300 ml , so basically now the Diff box has 300ml ( gl-4/gl-5) and 800 ml OE ( differential OE fluid)
What do you think will happen to the DIFF ?
Thanks
@@HellaMeiste It sounds like it should not be a problem at all. I would not be concerned about it. Is there a reason why your diff was low on fluid? Why didn't you just drain all the fluid and refill with fresh fluid? If you don't mind my asking.
@@LA_Commander Oh thank you, it’s not any leaking cause etc but it was my bad when i loosen the filler plug for checking the car was not in level position away too low so spilled out and i just had fluid for Manual Gl-4/GL-5 left in bottle around 400ml
Btw thank you If this is not going too bad for the diff
That was a good presentation
Most informative and well received: thank you!
very well explained, thank you.
Very hepful info for gear box and differential box
Thanks boss,very crucial info...
Great👍 information
Very Informative
Never heard of a limited sleep differential what is that???
im going round in circles can someone tell me what fluid i should use for my 1980s bmw differential oil. Owners manual asks for SAE-90 Mineral based oil.
You're right and wrong at the same time, there are vehicles that only require SAE 90 viscosity as long as it's GL-5.
my 1980s bmw car requires SAE-90 Mineral oil for the diff. do you know what i should use?
@@paulhunter123 you must read the users manual of your vehicle
@@paulhunter12375w-90 is just one
I have an 02' Blazer ZR2 with the 8.5" 10 bolt & G80 locker. I've read that no additive is to be added to a rear-end with the G80 locker & calls for 85-90 gear oil.
If you have a locker then you don't have a limited slip unit, so no limited slip additive is required
Is 85w-90 GL-5 suitable ?
Our 5 family car its a van and suv i read the owners manual it says:
Use sae 90
Use sae 75w90
Use sae 85w90
Graziano 6 speed manual has differential contained within the gearbox...... Now what ? It calls for 75w90 and that means no choice.. it's running through the differential as well (audi R8 / Gallardo) ??
What about transfer case oil ? Is it same as differential oil ? My Toyota rav4 diesel & automatic gear; gear is ATF , thank you for explaining the differences .
Not necessarily. Depending on make and model they all differ. Best to read your owner's manual and use what it states
It says GL5 somewhere close to the drain plug
I have Chinese MG RX8 car with two differentials with limited slip front and back. And user manual says 80w90. And nothing about GL5 or 4. Based on your information what type of lubricant is batter ? Hope to hear from you
Limited slip GL 5 of course
What is he referring to when he says gear box? Is he talking about the transfer case? Or a manual transmission?
The British say "gear box" while we Americans say "manual transmission". This man sounds African and they use the British style English.
Do you need an additive in limited slip differentials in light pickup trucks?
You always need an additive with limited slip gears
Which differential oil is suitable for Toyota rav4 diesel automatic gear
Read your owner's manual
What, gearbox in cars with front engine and FWD have differential in gearbox...
Front wheel drive cars have a transaxle. So it's the transmission and differential combined. Use the specific fluid stated in your owner's manual for that.
can u substitute 80w90 non syn with 75w90 synthetic ?
yes do not cross gl3 with gl5 applications, and gl4/5 is not compatible with gl3.
Now I'm confused as bmw suggested 75w85 hypoid oil for rear differential
Yes that sounds about right
What happens with a api gl4 and gl5
One is for synchronized manual transmission the other is for rear diff
This video may be well intentioned but is inaccurate. Use what the manufacturer recommends. It’s as simple as that.
