    I was very confused by your singing of "How firm a foundation" at the end of this video. This hymn was written in 1787 and is saying that the foundation for our faith is the Bible, and we don't need anything else---"What more can He say than to you He hath said?" (a rhetorical question, to which the answer is nothing!) The author of this hymn is saying that God has given us what we everything we need in the Bible to understand our faith. How do you understand this hymn in light of the additional scriptures your church accepts, as well as the possibility of new revelation from modern prophets? Isn't that more that God is saying?

    • @graysonhardman1250
      @graysonhardman1250  5 місяців тому +3

      Hey! Thanks for commenting your question. I didn’t know the history behind that hymn, thanks for sharing!
      In our faith we believe that God will always communicate with his children, and that revelation is ongoing. God calls prophets to teach his children, and we believe that he still calls prophets today. While we love and read from the Bible, we know that there are more sources to learn about God and Jesus Christ. Here are some scriptures we read from that mention the need for prophets and apostles, even some written after Jesus Christ’s death. (Amos 3:7, John 21:25, Ephesians 2:20, Ephesians 4:11-12)
      Sorry that I can’t answer your question fully, if you’d like to learn more there are local missionaries in your area that would love to talk more with you!

      @@jlewis8145 Thanks again for sharing! It might surprise you to know that I agree with you! Jesus Christ has already atoned for our sins and we need to accept Him. You’re absolutely correct that Christ has paid the price for each of us. We need to accept Him!
      A lot of times in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we put too much emphasis on what we must personally do to accept Christ rather than on emphasizing the great sacrifice that He has already made for us. We are better Christians when we remember and put the emphasis on the Savior.
      At the same time, Christ himself emphasizes a gospel of action. It is not enough to merely say that we accept Him without showing it. That is why we serve missions. Christ himself commands his disciples at the end of Matthew to “make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.” At the end of John, Christ emphasizes the importance to feed his sheep. He taught sermons on personal conduct and gave commandments of how to live, so that we can feel His atoning grace more in our lives.
      James famously states that faith without works is dead. If we only focus on faith in Christ without acting like Him, we only have part of His power. By being baptized like He was and following His perfect example, we fulfill his great commission to “Follow Me.”
      You’re correct, Jesus paid the price for each of us. We need to acknowledge our sin and ask for His forgiveness. But we also need to take personal action to follow Him.
      I really appreciate your response and your respectful words. Thanks for your question!

    Mormon gospel before Christ?
    One of the books in the Mormon collection of so-called scripture is Ether. It claims to cover a time period from about 2600 BC to 600 BC. It alludes to the great tower (tower of Babel) when people rebelled against God. So, low and behold, Jesus Christ reveals himself to Jared and his brother and tells them to get to work and build some barges for a great voyage to a new world (Ether 2:12, 2:16, 3:1). Rather strange that Jesus had yet to be born in Jerusalem and be given the name Jesus, but this is Mormonism. These eight barges have a hole in the bottom and in the top, but no windows for air. There is no mention of these vessels having sails yet they managed to go either around the Horn of Africa, or through the Mediterranean and across the Atlantic Ocean. Keep in mind that this Joseph Smith found the golden plates with this record on a hill in New York, but Mormons claim the barges actually landed somewhere in southern Mexico near present day San Lorenzo. Therefore, they lay claim to the Olmec civilization as proof of this wild story. In Ether 4:3 there is mention of the people rejecting the "gospel of Christ" (who had not been born yet much less been to the cross) therefore the brother of Jared leads the people on these barges being lit by magic stones that produce light (3:4) as a result of being touched by the Lord. For 344 days they were driven by stormy seas to the promised land. It has been pointed out that Columbus made his round trip to America and back in only 221 days, and they spent time exploring many islands along the way. Ether records numerous things in the new world, such as steel swords, that did not show up for hundreds of years when they were brought by Europeans (Ether 7:9). Check out Ether 9:17-19 for a list of other questionable items: silk, swine, horses, asses, and elephants.

Dont get lost in the religion guys , Follow Christ, follow the word of God , spread that and that only nothing outside of it, You young men have beautiful hearts , i pray for friends wjth such hearts for missionary work, but you mormons honestly no different from muslims , living like the word of God needed to be added to by your false prophets

      @@kgosiking4228 Thanks for the comment. The Bible was written by prophets long ago, and we believe that prophets still exist today. They are men called of God to lead us and teach us.
      Jesus taught that through the spirit, we can know all things. If one prays to know whether this Church, Book of Mormon, or even Prophet is truly from God, they can know for themselves. • @graysonhardman1250
      @graysonhardman1250  Місяць тому

      Your main issue was that I don't test my testimony with the actual Bible. Yet, the idea that we can pray to know the truth comes directly through the Bible. (One example is James 1:5-6, not to mention when Jesus Himself teaches the idea.) Yes, other faiths have testimonies and believe different things. But in our faith, we base our testimony off of a personal experience with the Holy Ghost. Other religions simply do not believe in a personal witness. Instead, they focus on scripture or tradition. Jesus himself tells Peter that "the Holy Ghost" was what revealed unto him the truth of Christ's ministry.
      Jesus taught that through the spirit, we can know all things. If one prays to know whether this Church, Book of Mormon, or even Prophet is truly from God, they can know for themselves. @@graysonhardman1250 you used James 1:5-6 out of context , not surprising, it's about asking for wisdom , not a specific knowledge(wanting to know something specific, like if a prophet is true, that is a type of knowledge , wisdom on the other hand would make you follow the word of God that says to test that prophet in order to know, a specific knowledge and wisdom are two different things ) wisdom involves understanding and acting in accordance with God’s word in everyday life, not merely ignoring the biblical mandate to test prophets. Not ignoring the word of God, and when we ask for wisdom we should have faith that we've already received. That's what that verse is talking about , Those James verses do not exclude the fact the bible says to test prophets according to the word , using James to justify accepting a prophet without considering these tests may overlook the broader biblical directive, So no you can't just use that James verse and then ignore the test .which your prophet clearly fails so I can understand why they want you guys to ignore it and want you to use James 1:5-6 out of context and misinterpretation.
      and it's not even about some of his prophecies still having a chance of happening , it's the fact some had an actual time frame and they did not come to pass , and according to the word of God , not your opinion , not how you feel, he would be a false prophet, but of course you'll make excuses and use verses out of context, and say something right out of a script like they all do, which sadly makes you all ignore the word of God and rely on your feelings and misinterpreting scripture. All I can do is pray the day when you do see the truth , because there will come a day when you do, I pray that when that happens , when you leave Mormonism that it doesn't make you turn away from God but towards him , as I know you're emotionally invested in that community , but when the scales fall off I pray you have the strength and awareness to look to God of the bible and the bible only and nothing else. All love bro , I'll end it here , Take care , bye
