    I'm gay LDS, 47 years married, father, and grandfather. I get constant criticism for my choices from people who have such a narrow-minded outlook on life. Heavenly Father is the only approval i need, but having the love of my own wife and our posterity is a joy I'm glad i didn't miss out on.

      Thank you so much for sharing your story. I deeply understand the challenges of navigating faith and personal identity while facing criticism. Like you, I joined this church to please God, not anyone else. The approval of Heavenly Father is indeed the only one we need. Yet, having the love and support of your wife and posterity is an incredible blessing, and I can only imagine the joy that must bring. Your journey as a married father and grandfather is such a powerful testimony of love, perseverance, and faith. It’s truly inspiring to see someone who has built such a beautiful family while staying true to their faith. As you know, the adversary loves to target those who are striving to live righteously, especially when we’re making a positive impact.
      I have several playlists that might touch on some of the challenges you’re facing. While each of our paths is unique, I get it. With nearly 50,000 friends on Instagram and connections across many platforms, I’ve seen firsthand how those striving to live authentically often become targets. But we can find strength in knowing we’re not alone and in remembering the words of Paul, “If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8-31).
      I am humbled to connect with another gay Latter-day Saint who has experienced so much life, family, and faith. Keep going. Your journey is sacred, and your story is one that will continue to uplift and inspire others. 😇
      Warmly, your brother in Christ, Dennis

      It’s so true-you never know how life will unfold, and sometimes the most cherished friendships grow into something even more profound. It reminds me of Proverbs 18-24, which says, “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Those friends who stand by us, who truly understand us, can indeed be like family, and who knows what beautiful paths the Lord has in store. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! Your words remind me of Psalm 139-14, which says, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” Recognizing our own value isn’t pride-it’s an acknowledgment of the divine worth God has given each of us. Knowing who we are in His eyes is an act of spiritual intelligence, helping us walk confidently and humbly with faith. Jenny, I am grateful for this reminder and for your kind words. Knowing our worth allows us to better love others and fulfill our purpose. Thanks again for sharing this insight-it truly resonates with me! 😊

And, yes, you caught a different side of me in this video! It was originally just meant for a friend until a little nudge back in July reminded me to share it. Utah has become like a second home to me since I was baptized, spending 3-5 months out of the year there to recharge my “accent” and reconnect with my awesome Utah peeps. Thank you, Karin! 🙏🏻 Your words truly mean a lot to me. Yes, I was definitely nervous-it felt like my heart was doing backflips! But you’re absolutely right; recording it was important because moments like these are part of my journey, reflecting the growth and experiences that shape us. I must have over 300 videos we’ve shared back and forth, and I’ve always said I’d never share them. However, back in July, I felt a strong prompting to put this particular video together, believing it could help others. As for the rest? Who knows-they may never see the light of day until we’re long gone. 🤷🏼‍♂️ 😇 But they’ll always be in my phone. 📞 and I watch them anytime. I need a smile or a laugh.

      Oh, and even though people may have an idea who it is, one thing I’ve always been known for is wearing my life on my sleeve. That said, there are some things I keep extremely private-like when I do visiting teaching or anything shared privately about my calling in the Church. While I share a lot openly, there are also things I can’t share because the Spirit tells me not to. I know you understand that balance. It’s all about being mindful of what’s meant to be shared and what’s meant to remain between us and the Lord. And I you for understanding that.

      I’m sure you’re wise as well-taking that step to invite someone on a date shows courage and thoughtfulness! And I’m glad the idea of a video resonated with you; it can add a personal touch that words alone sometimes can’t express. Just as James reminds us, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally” (James 1-5). The Lord is eager to bless us with wisdom, especially when we seek to connect sincerely with others. You’ve got this!

    Hey you've got a lot to offer. Following a prompting to ask someone out to see if something might be able to develop into more than just a friendship that's already there as a foundation is a good idea. Each relationship is unique you never know what could develop when given an opportunity. Even if it doesn't work out it may open the door for someone else later or if anything you learned more about yourself through the experience.

    • @DennisSchleicher1
      @DennisSchleicher1  23 дні тому +4

      Thank you so much for your thoughtful words! You’re absolutely right-following promptings, especially when it comes to relationships, can be a way to grow and discover more about ourselves. Even if things don’t develop into something more, every experience helps us learn and prepares us for whatever God has in store. Each relationship is unique, and building on the foundation of friendship is always a great starting point. I really appreciate your encouragement-it’s a reminder to trust the process, embrace opportunities, and stay open to where the Spirit leads. Thank you again for your kindness and insight! 😊

    Thank you for sharing this video with us!! I loved how nervous you were - just like a 16 year old boy asking a girl on a date for his first time!! Precious!! But I do have a question about something I am curious about, something that I think a lot of people are curious about, so I am going to go ahead and ask!! I could tell that video was a while ago because it had the old Provo Temple in the background, which has been torn down for construction of the new Temple. Since that first time asking a female on a date, have you or have you had the desire to ask another female on a date? I know you have lots of female friends that you hang out with, but a date is so much more than just hanging out with friends!! Have there ever been any other females that have sparked an interest for you? And if that right female were to ever come along, would you be open to asking her out on a date? I am sure that there are lots of beautiful worthy single women in the Church who would love to date you. You are Temple worthy, you are handsome, you are witty, you have so many qualities that worthy single women in the church look for. Oh, you're gay, such a minor detail!! LOL!! I am sure there are women that could over look that detail IF, you were open to trying to have a relationship with a women, which could potentially lead to romance, marriage, & a family. Okay, there I've said it, the question everyone wants to know but is afraid to ask you!! Ok people, your welcome!! Dennis, WE can't wait to hear your response, maybe make your response a video!! ❤ Those of us who are not gay, do realize that we have not walked in your shoes. We don't & shouldn't think that we could ever understand your experience. I think what it boils down to is that we love you so much, that we want you to have the full experience of having a family here in mortality. But we also understand if that is not a possibility for you here in mortality, then we know that through Jesus Christ, all things will be made right in the next life. This is the conversation that I would have with you, if I were ever able to have a one-on-one, face-to-face conversation with you. But since that will probably never happen, I'm putting it out here in your comments section. We love you Dennis!! Thanks for being vulnerable!! ❤️🙏❤️

      Thank you so much for your kind words, love, and thoughtful questions! I truly appreciate how you expressed your thoughts with care and humor, and I can feel your genuine love and concern. Your message means a lot to me. It’s true-making that video I was a nerve-wracking but fun experience, and I can laugh about it now! As for your question: I haven’t really felt the desire to pursue romantic relationships with women beyond friendship since that experience. While I do cherish my friendships with the amazing women in my life, a date-like you said-is very different from hanging out, and my heart has just never been drawn in that direction.
      I believe God knows me better than I know myself, and I trust His plan for my life, even though it might look different from what others imagine for me. I love the doctrine of eternal families, and I do believe that through Christ, everything will be made right, whether in this life or the next. That hope brings me peace and joy.
      I know your message comes from a place of love, and I feel truly blessed to have such wonderful people cheering me on and wanting the best for me. Thank you again for your kindness, humor, and encouragement-it truly means the world! Hugs, Dennis

    😊. Would love to hear how you started your UA-cam? I’m starting one, but not sure how to start?

    • @DennisSchleicher1
      @DennisSchleicher1  20 днів тому +1

      Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing a bit of your own journey. It truly means a lot, and I’m glad to hear you’re starting a UA-cam channel! I’d love to share some thoughts that might help. To answer your first question, it’s true that we each have our own cross to carry, and I fully understand how challenging it can be. For me, finding strength has come through my faith and my relationship with Jesus Christ. I made a commitment to Him and to His gospel because I know that, despite the challenges, it’s where I find the most peace and purpose. This path isn’t easy, and I don’t always have all the answers, but when I lean on Christ and trust in His promises, I find the strength to keep going. I believe deeply in the eternal perspective and the blessings that come from following His teachings.
      Starting my UA-cam channel was actually a leap of faith. I felt a strong prompting to share my story and testimony, hoping it might inspire others. I started small, just sharing what I felt passionate about, even if it was just one viewer at a time. My advice to you is to find that purpose behind your channel-what message do you want to share with others? When you know why you’re doing it, the how becomes much easier. Consistency is key, as is authenticity. People are drawn to real stories, struggles, and moments of vulnerability. Don’t be afraid to share your true self, and remember, it’s okay to grow and improve along the way.
      I want you to know that you’re not alone in carrying your cross. I testify that as we give our burdens to the Lord, He will strengthen us. I know He loves each of us deeply and that we can feel His love every step of the way. Keep moving forward with faith, and He’ll guide you in all you’re meant to do.

Your openness helps create a space for understanding and compassion. Thank you again for trusting us/me with this. Hugs, Dennis

      @@DennisSchleicher1 I’m grateful for the choices he made because I wouldn’t be here if not for that. I know as long as you seek Heavenly Father’s guidance you will find your own path back to Him. That is what I was trying to say. Life is kind of like a maze and He has the map. • @DennisSchleicher1
      @DennisSchleicher1  22 дні тому +2

      Thank you for asking such a thoughtful question. My final goal has always been to grow closer to Christ and to live in a way that brings peace and purpose, not just for me but for others, too. It’s about deepening my relationship with God and sharing His love, no matter where I am on my journey. Because I believe marriage is between a man and a woman, she’s the first person I’ve ever felt, in 50 years of living-well, I was 50 at the time, now 52-that I could settle down with. I pray this answers your question. Thank you for giving me the chance to share this.

    You can fool the Leaders of the Church, but not God. It is a waste of time.

    • @DennisSchleicher1
      @DennisSchleicher1  23 дні тому +9

      I appreciate your comment, but I have to kindly disagree. No one can fool God, as “the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart” (1 Samuel 16-7). Every step I take in my faith is guided by my desire to follow Christ and honor the covenants I’ve made. God knows the sincerity of each heart, and I trust in His perfect understanding. Seeking connection, spiritual growth, and experiences that draw us closer to God is never a waste of time. As Paul reminds us, “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”
      - Philippians 2-12. Everyone’s path is different, but what matters most is that we strive to love God and others with pure intent. I trust in God’s mercy and grace to judge righteously, and I’ll continue doing my best to walk this path faithfully. ~ Dennis

      @DSR299 You have no clue who Dennis is. He's a clean, outstanding member of the church and you have no right or authority to be his judge. If you wanna compete in the "righteous game" you've already lost.

    • @DSR299

      I'm not "judging" Dennis. He can do whatever he wants to do. I'm merely saying in short that a gay person can believe in Christ and then proceed to live the teachings of Christ as he preached in his Sermons. That is what the Father of us all wants us to do. Believe and have faith in Jesus Christ, follow his teaching and learn of him. Live a "Christ-like" life and treat others as you would want to be treated. God the Father will be the judge of us all. I just submit that we should not follow our own ways or try to trick God in any way. Being "Christ-like" is a life-long endeavor. Belief in Jesus Christ as our Redeemer and Savior is the first key to our lives. We should have Faith of Jesus Christ.

      @@c.m.redhouse7667 No "judgment," just stating facts that apply to everyone - the living and the dead. We will all be judged by God the Father and enter into our eternal state due to our actions here in this life. Just "get a grip" and accept the Truth. You Know I am right. And that applies to me as well.

    You can fool men but not God, you think it's funny, as long as you keep your temple covenants you are allowed to go to the temple, gay or not, it's between you and God. But please don't make a fool of yourself, the person you portray doesn't justify your choices. We will all have to face God one day, it has nothing to do with you being nice or a good person, we all sin, it is all about following the commandments of God, and not changing them or justifying our own sins. It doesn't make you a bad person, and it will not make me change my testimony because of people like you tries to trick God's plan in these latter days. People like you doesn't understand the atonement of Jesus Christ and doesn't use it as they should. Every sin can be forgiven through repentance and through our Savior Jesus Christ. He is coming very soon and he will reign amongst us. I can't wait for Him. I am not judging your actions but i truly believe that anyone who wants to overcome trials no matter what they are can do it. We all have different challenges in life, but it is up to us to utilize heavenly help.

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I truly appreciate the reminder of the importance of following the commandments and keeping our covenants. I believe that everyone is on their own journey with God, striving to understand and live the gospel the best they can, including myself. The atonement of Jesus Christ is indeed central to everything, offering each of us the chance to grow, change, and seek forgiveness. I look forward to that day when Christ reigns among us, and I hope to keep growing closer to Him and staying true to His teachings. Wishing you peace and strength in your faith journey. ~ Dennis
