UA-cam: we want to be more inclusive
Also UA-cam: just don’t talk about.. anything, K?
That is what inclusivity is. Not offending anyone no matter how shit they may be.
@@aarishbaig but being inclusive doesnt mean you should avoid understanding certain people. An inclusive society is one where people respect and understand one another, not just about treating everyone equally
yup. pretty much. I hate it.
When you try to please everyone you end up screwing over everyone instead
Just cant wait for WW3 where I can legally slaughter people like these.
My heart literally breaks for Kai! You can tell that he's an absolute sweetheart! I know that this was awhile ago, so I really hope that he was able to get close with his family again. And shame on them for treating him like that!! 💔
Kai seems like a great, down to earth guy. I wish the best for him ❤
I was raised mormon. My sister was slapped across the face as a child for saying "oh my god!" My mom was slapped across the face for saying the bible was like a big journal with multiple authors (a good analogy, I thought). I was told at 8 years old that I was going to hell because my mom let me listen to music by a gay musician. When my grandparents found out my mom was getting married to a jewish man, they yelled at her and belitlled her in the middle of a restaurant saying "You cant marry a jew! The jews killed god!!" That man is my dad now. The fact that I am part of the LGBTQ+ community, that my fiance is african american, that I have a tattoo, that I struggle with mental health... these are all things for which I am judged, frowned upon, and gossiped over within the church. I left the church when I was 12 years old. The mormon church made me feel like a dirty sinner for simply existing, and that is wrong through and through. They claim that god loves all his children, yet exclude anyone who is different from them. I don't believe in a god, but if there is one, I am sure he would never approve of this behavior.
Im very sorry, I dont know what youve gone through, the people arent perfect, in this religion, self loathing and depression are common in this religion, and others, its easy to feel like you cant measure up, but you can, in every way, you are just as good as me and i am just as good as you, we are all beloved children of Heavenly Father, and even though it may not always feel like it, He loves us, Im straight and idk what youve endured bc of you identification in the lgbtqia+ community, but some people are just jerks
i was raised mormon, and i remember in seminary class the teacher had us write anonymous questions that would be drawn from a jar and answered throughout the course, and my question was about being queer, and my teacher, god bless him, he said that queerness isnt wrong, and as long as you follow the gospel and remain chaste (no smoochy smooch, premarital sex, which is a touchy subject but ill get to that). that god will love and accept you. outside of the whole virginity thing- it was really amazing to have someone in a position of influence tell me that what i was feeling wasnt wrong, and that as long as i was kind to myself ill be okay. again, the virginity thing is a whole other can of worms, but im so thankful for that seminary teacher. also suprisingly, a lot of my straight mormon friends are either queer, or allies, even my peers were very accepting. while they were largely uneducated about the lgbtq community as a whole, they weren't against it. its nice to see healing take place and to see somewhere become safer for us :)
Shit my family weren’t that intense
Okay, current member, that's the crappiest bull that I've ever heard. That is not what we stand for. I'm so sorry they treated you like this. I'd apologize for them, but frankly, though I try not to make judgements, based on that, they are not real Mormons, and I can't even I identify with any of their crap. I'm sorry you had to endure that. I'm my belief system though, they get to have fun explaining their actions to God, so they get to deal with that fun time.
What a paradox! we are in 21st century and something likes those behaviours. Just a blind belief.

Drumroll!!! A family member I was waaaay nervous about just texted me he and his wife watched-and all is good in the gayborhood! Anthony was so great at asking such respectful questions. And Kai-amazing. Those Mama Dragons are no joke. There are a lot of great inroads being laid within and without the church and it gives me hope. ❤️🧡💛
Secily Anderson I’m so happy to hear that and happy for you! Knowing you were the one who was most nervous about doing this video but it actually brought about positive change for you. I wish the best for you in the future 💕
My first thoughts of leaving was when I was 13 and during Young Womens, I mentioned I didn’t want to have kids, and my teacher looked me dead in the eyes and said “your future children are looking down on you from heaven and are very disappointed in you.” I’ve since realized I’m asexual lmao
Wow, your young women leader freaking sucks. I can tell you right now, my leaders would NEVER say something like that. In fact, if some KID said something rude like that, my leader would definitely get mad at them. I remember this one time some kid said something bad about gays, and my leader kindly lectured him.
I just hate how so many people commenting on this video think that Mormons are toxic. Our church literally teaches not to judge and to be loving. Some members of the church are simply just idiots, and they're not doing what the prophets asked. I will admit, my mom kind of got angry with me a year ago when I also said that I didn't want to have kids, but I guess that's just because she's my mom. She wants her grandchildren. That's changed now, however. I REALLY want to have kids. I would be heartbroken if I couldn't. It would be hard to have kids, but it'd all be worth it. But hey, it's okay if you don't feel the same way, Your leader had no good reason to talk to you that way. I bet most girls in that room also thought she was being ridiculous.
I'm so glad my sister never had to experience that. My sister doesnt want kids, and the people at my sister's young women's actually support her... LIKE HOW IT SHOULD BE.
@@user-hb2lc6vb2d" Some members of the church are simply just idiots, and they're not doing what the prophets asked" you couldnt have said it better
The idea of children watching and judging me from ‘heaven’ is bone shaking. Like no thanks they can stay up there I’m not bringing them down
I get you. I was born Muslim. I rejected it at 13. I'm also ace lmao
I lost all of my friends at church because I was assaulted by a Mormon boy at a Mormon party. I’ve been left out of every activity, no one cares that I’ve stopped coming to class, I’ve lost every. single. Mormon friend I had. even the ones who still speak to me comfort him. I’ve gotten angry messages. SO SO many excuses for him. I’m 15. he’s 18. I am being blamed. and I am hated now because I told a few of the girls my age and younger who he is VERY overly affectionate with. lol.
Just tell people holy crap it’s not that hard
It’ll get better ❤ that sounds like such a rough thing to go through just know that you deserve better, in or out of the church. None of the stuff you’re going through is what the church teaches is right. Be strong 🤍
Typical, unfortunately, to support the male perpetrator and shun the female victim. I’m so sorry that happened to you.

I’m from Utah where over half the population is Mormon, but I myself am not religious. The pressure to convert to LDS is pretty strong… my entire dad’s side of the is Mormon, most of my friends are Mormon…
So interesting and sad to hear the struggles felt by those that had to leave to church and feel all the exclusiveness that comes with it. I send my love to you all ❤️
I grew up in Utah with a family that never taught me any religion unless for cultural awareness. The pressure really is high to convert and it comes to a point that people have tried to convert me since I was a kid that now I just can't care. I did have someone very rudely try to convert me in my own apartment last year (the person who invited him in wasn't even there) even after I asked him to leave me alone several times.
same! my parnets both deicied not to go to church when they had kids. All my freinds pressure me to goo to church and get baptized and to have trust in God even tho i feel really uncomrtable.

I'm basically a sort of Jeffersonian Christian Deist. 'Course I also tend to take my Deism with a splash of Panentheism (shaken, not stirred 😂). And I attend a very inclusive an progressive Quaker here in Utah.

Im a current member of the church and just wanted to say that their experiences are 1000% valid. There’s such a nasty toxicity within the culture of the church that make it feel culty when it’s really not intended to be that way. People also have strong rules for themselves they try to pass off as doctrine on everyone else. I’m disgusted that the bishop asked her that about her gf. Totally none of his business and he didn’t need to know that to do his job. I promise there are a lot of us who don’t suck. We are trying to change the culture little by little
A lot of it is also just cultural conservatism in the US infecting the culture of the church in the US. It is a world wide church I’m just speaking from my experience here in the US
Amen to this!!
As a member I completely agree with you.
Facts, everyone at my church shoves soap down there kids mouth when they swear, beat them if they disagree, and neglect for differences. Thankfully my parents had common sense growing me up, they don’t care what I do or choose all they care for is my success. Just depends on who they are I guess.
Thank you for this. I’m hold pretty centrist/left leaning views and I hope the church can continue to become kore progressive over the years and with the new generation, which I think it will. Also, i think there’s a lot to be said about living in Utah 😬 I don’t and I’ve honestly not experienced much of the exclusive behavior that I know is there

I currently am Mormon, and I've been questioning it recently. I like to think that I'm one of the good Mormons, mostly because my parents were converts. We aren't as strict to follow the rules as other people, I have gay friends and those that aren't the same religion as I. This video is helping me understand my feelings towards the religion better, and some day I might leave. For now though, I just want to be a Mormon that isn't an asshole.
It is literally a cult. I got out and i hope you do too. They try to control nearly every part of your life and if you look up the history of Joseph Smith he was a disgusting polyamorous pedophile.
there is no "good" mormon. all mormons are enabling the cult.
I just want you to know that Mormons are definitely a minority. Many people will go against our church and throw stones at us because we hold ourselves to a higher standard. We teach to doubt our doubts before we doubt our faith because if you doubt everything you believe in you'll never have the truth. I know it may be difficult taking the road less traveled, but you will most likely find joy and peace in trying to be your best self. Our gospel doesn't teach to have any hatred or judgement for anyone. I hope that whatever you decide, you will pray about it. God won't lead you astray.
@@gordianknot9595 Our church is in fact variable. And many people go against our church because of the rules we follow. And I said doubt your doubts BEFORE you doubt your faith. Tell me another group you can find who are as squared away. Whose youth dedicate 2 years helping others draw closer to Christ, rather than chasing girls, drugs, and alcohol. Who have happier lives, closer families, and stay away from worldly thing deemed as "okay" in our society. People have indeed gone against us for our standards, but the fruit of our church is better than most you will find.

I was a member of the LDS church for over a year in the early 2000's and got married in the temple.
My experience was one of pressure to conform that is so severe that it supersedes any sense of decency, objective morality, or compassion.
My sister-in-law had clear symptoms of mental illness and coninciding medical issues making her unable to conceive. she was pressured by the temple to adopt FOUR children. for the entire time i knew them, she spent almost every waking moment in bed, isolated from the children whilst her husband was at work (neglecting them).
Also in that one year, that temple abandoned a teen missionary in south America, refusing to even pay his way home when he was found out as homosexual on his mission, and 2 children were sent to conversion camps for "suffering from same-sex attraction".
As a person who grew up in Utah, in a very mormon, very judgemental community, I find this video incredibly relatable. My family and I were never mormon, but growing up in a community that is consistently pressuring us to conform, and then punishing us by exiling us from the community, was an incredibly awful experience. For the longest time I never felt accepted. That is, until I left Utah to seek acceptance and love in my late 20s. All I know is that because of my up-bringing in Utah, with the lack of connection, it really has created deep-rooted trust and connection issues, despite desiring it so much. I love Utah because its beautiful, and my entire family lives there. But im really not sure if I would live there again. If I did, I would intentionally seek out a community with variety in beliefs.
Springdale, Moab, or Park City, and Kanab.... I live in one of them. Yeah, the rest... ouch,,, cult city... unless you're into the slc scene.

As someone who is active in the church, watching this video and reading everyone's experiences in the comment section has been very interesting. Even as an LGBTQ+ youth who is at war with addiction, I would say I've had a lot better experience than most who are also LGBTQ+ and/or addicted, etc.
It's very true that it feels very black and white (you're either right or you're either wrong) and shame/guilt definitely comes with it. Lots of LDS people you find really are "holier than thou" and ridiculously close-minded, but I've also been privileged to have (mostly) absolutely amazing people around me and the resources I need to recover. I could not ask for a better bishop and a handful of my peers are also queer and/or struggle with a "serious sin", as the church puts it, which is extremely helpful in my experience since we understand one another to a personal degree
Above all, It's the place I feel closest to God and is the number one and strongest reason I'm sticking around. I understand how lucky I am to have what I have and my heart goes out to those who don't/didn't have a good experience. I support anyone's decision to leave the church and I hope that anyone who did is doing alright
Thank you so much for saying that. People need to realize that just because YOU had a bad experience, doesn't mean that the whole church is bad. The church was 100% founded on love, and I strongly believe that. The way you are being treated as a queer person is exactly how members of the church should treat you. Members have 100% been taught to be accepting, and for those who aren't, they're just intolerant losers. I just really love what you said about why you want to stick around. You should always be in the place where you feel closest and most loved by God. You're much wiser and much stronger for not leaving the church. Instead of leaving something because you have a problem with it, first you should try to understand that policy first. There are many things that I questioned, but after researching a bit, my opinions totally changed. People need to realize that God is wiser than them. I'm glad that the church is a place that you can feel loved. It should be. BTW, I like your profile pic. IDK, I just think its kind of funny.

Several of my friends I found out to be Mormon only after I got to know them really well. Just like only my closest friends find out I'm a closet vegan. They've always appeared to be completely normal and functional in regular society. I never felt judged for things I may have said to them or done around them when I was not aware of who I was in the presence of. Religion never even came up once until we were invited to these "fun" nights. Where the kids would get together and make crafts, pinewood derby races, hair styling classes. They seem happy. Very loving and understanding with their children who are obviously growing up in a world where these old values do not apply. And I don't see how they're hurting anyone. They've certainly never hurt me. So I keep them as friends. I wouldn't want to shut anyone out the way they might be shut out of their society.

Mormons don't drink alcohol, and when I was a child I'd ask questions during Sunday school about Jesus turning water into wine. They'd always tell me wine in the bible just meant grape juice.
Jesus was getting turnt
That’s just your church teachers being weird
@@UnluckyDuck back then wine was actually better for you than the water but today we have the luxury to drink clean water so that rule now doesn't apply
Wine was crushed up grapes, they weren't drinking it for pleasure, it was cleaner than the water they had so its was safer to drink.
Actually they are right.
The word that is translated into the English word "wine" in the Bible usually do means grape juice, and not the alcoholic beverage we now know as wine.
And back in those days it's actually impossible to ferment wine to the level of alcohol that we have today (today's wine have the alcohol level of close to 20%), back then the alcoholic wine rarely goes above 10% due to the nature of yeast that is available.
So yeah the wine in the bible most likely do refer to grape juice.
I told my young women’s leader that I wanted to enlist in the military, but she ended up telling me my only purpose was to be a wife and mother. So I shouldn’t join. I was just a baby 12 year old. Now I’m 17 and I go to boot camp this July. Get got
Food is Good and? Church members are not perfect. There are plenty that say stupid things like this.
confessionsofoncer the problem is that these ideas are taught by the church and it’s leaders.
“With faith, I will strengthen my home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, and receive the ordinances and blessings of the holy temple.”
This phrase is what you will spend 6 years of your life repeating once or twice a week as a young woman. Then you have leaders using manuals that, mostly, teach how to be a mother and wife. How to take care of the house and kids. As well as how you should keep you virginity for your husband and not do anything with anyone till you are married to them. Rarely do they talk about careers and how to improve yourself that doesn’t involve a future husband and children. So yeah it’s the members but it isn’t their own ideas, they were taught by those before so they continue to teach it.
Hell yeah! Go you!!!
Good job!
You go girl!!

as a mormon myself i just want to apologize to anyone who was mistreated within our religion. and i would just love everyone to know that we don’t all believe in everything that the church might believe. it is so unfortunate how many people refuse to accept people no matter what they believe and how they feel towards others. i hope this video doesn’t make anyone think that everyone within our religion is as unaccepting as some people are.❤️
I went to school with a lot of Mormons, and they are very unaccepting of non-Mormons, especially once they know you are not converting. I have a cousin, whom I love, who converted to Mormonism. We just don't talk about religion. I have a very negative view of LDS which will never change.
I wasn't mistreated at all. I simply discovered that it's BS. And I still like most members, just not the doctrine and backstory.
My members shunned me for switching wards man it’s crazy!

Sure is great living in Utah 😬😂
So I am a recent returned Missionary for the church, and out of all places I served, I went to Provo Utah. Utah is the heart of our church and when I tell you that while I witnessed so much polarity there in terms of deeming what a “good Mormon should be”, I really did. I think a majority of the toxicity of our church is our cultures fixation on being perfect, and it’s in our older generation that is what is instilling that within us. I’ve seen and talked with people inside and out of our church about their horror stories and it really brought to light truly disgusting we are being in the name of being like Christ. I realized on my mission that people feel and get closer to God outside of the church, and that all religions have some truth to them. I am still an active member of the church, I love and believe in the basics of our gospel (faith, repentance (when we truly have done something wrong), baptism, etc), but I hope to see a day where we don’t have to be extreme in efforts to stop people from leaving or judgment of others inside and outside of our church.
Exactly this. I grew up in Utah and grew up without any religious influence from my family. I have a friend who's gone to church less, but with some personal relationships they've been struggling because people judge faith based on church attendance and tithing. I've also had my worst experiences with and met the most hateful people that have ever entered my life when they claimed to be the best mormons. I have felt most excluded by them and it's incredibly unfortunate. The pressure also seems to push people away from having faith in the LDS church rather than become a part of. At least from what I've seen growing up in Utah. There is a lot of serious judgement to the point I heard a girl name call another for wearing a dress past her knees because it wasn't past her calf instead. I'm glad that you've found a way to feel close to God and purhaps help others that want to have or keep their faith without passing judgement. It's good to have people like you who are understanding rather than judging. A return missionary I met last year told me directly that he went on his mission with the intent and enjoyment of making others uncomfortable. Your comment was a breath of fresh air for me today. Thank you.
I honestly agree 100% with you with me being in Utah and the stereotypes put with us 😅 but yea I’m glad you shared that tho
@pigpeekle ikr, i am an active member who lives in utah as well and it honestly frustrates me sm with ppl like that fr 💀
As a member outside of Utah I've found that most members of stereotyped of members from Utah obviously, but because there are so many members there and every one wants to be different, then the rules get stretched and the rules are written in bold. One of my brothers served in Utah and the non members there are just as and often more harsh and hating then they are elsewhere.
my brother is serving right now and got called to provo utah which is where he opened his call at BYU too. maybe u know him lol he’s been serving for a little over a year now
As an ex Mormon this was displayed perfectly. So much trauma and suffering can happen in the church, and seeing people that had similar experiences makes me feel so much less alone. Thank you.

Towards the end of my Mormon experience, my stake president (who was a pompous ass) passed me in one of the hallways of the ward buildings (ward building. Kind of sounds prison like to me) and asked "brother Massie! Have you got some pretty young girl telling you it's time you got married?" (I was in the closet at the time) I looked straight (no pun intended) into his face and said "that's really none of your business." and kept on walking out the door.
As a member of the church, I was worried about this video, and the kinds of things that would be discussed (we generally get a really bad rap among ex-mormons), but I was pleasantly surprised by how uplifting it was! I am so impressed with how Anthony never tried to diminish anyone, and just builds up everyone around him. I love my religion, but I totally understand that it's not for everyone, and no shame if you have to leave or anything. I appreciate not being shamed in return for once in this kind of a video :)))))) Thank you for this video and thanks for how lovely a person you all are, including Kai and Secily! I wish people were nicer to those who chose to leave the church for sure :(

I just told my parents that I'm leaving the church, I was 17 and I just turned 18 so I'm still living at home, and they have almost completely blocked me out of their lives. I have heard nothing but guilt tripping and manipulation from them as an attempt to help me come back to church. Its been tough, but I'm going to move out as soon as I have the money to do so and hopefully that way I can have some peace.
You should move out of that toxicity and into a better, healthier environment.
What did you expect? Spit in their faces by rejecting their honestly held faith while eating their food, watching their TV, enjoying their shelter and who knows what all? I'll bet your mom does your laundry. Maybe you should have left Mommy's house before you did the big boy thing, huh? Oops.
I gagged when she said the bishop asked her that super specific question about her sex life. Remember, some bishops ask CHILDREN these personal sexual questions. Please be aware.
@@xXDemonWolfSkullXx she did say some..
My bishop asked me if I had had sexual intercourse in a required private meeting so I could get a pass to go on the temple trip. I didn't go, but the question made both of us uncomfortable.
I remember Mr Atheist made a video about all these questions they ask, questions that are definitely way too personal for what they want to know. I honestl think they have no business asking any of these questions anyway, but asking about specific things that you did, like as specific as Secily mentioned, that's another level. I agree with Anthony, it's for the bishops themselves, for their twisted benefit, not to help anybody.
Realizing that my dad's father (witch I refuse to have any connection) asked that kinda of question to people gross me tf out
This issue is always triggering for me. My skin crawls when I think of the questions my bishops asked me as a child. It took me 30 years to wake up and leave, but knowing my daughters will never have to experience that trauma makes the heartache of leaving worth it.

I just barely left the church. I was a mormon for almost 31 years, my entire life. It was difficult to leave because that's everything I had ever known and I tried to be a good mormon coma I had a strong testimony I loved my heavenly father and the savior Jesus Christ but I always felt like I didn't belong there because I was never willing to conform. I accept members of the LGBT community. I accept them as God's children and I love them and they are humans like you and me. I watch South Park I vape and a bunch of other stuff that the mormon church goes against. They were not able to see my testimony and my value is a daughter of god I've got if I was not striving to be perfect. I don't want to be perfect and I don't want to pretend to be perfect. Exmo here. So much to talk about but one abridged story i hqve when i was a member and a teenager. I had been sexual abuse for countless years and struggled with porn because of it. When it was found out i was being abuse i was told i could not pass or take the sacrament (aka public shaming for sinning), years before I remembered praying for a sign to not pour bleach into my eyes or stabe thenvout because i couldn't stop the urges to look at porn. Luckily i was "weak" and i was not able to blind myself for being human and trying to figure out my sexualalty when i been abuse.
Two remarkable people. You couldn’t have picked better people to interview. Not angry, not scorned, not demeaning. Just two great people telling their truth and their story. Great interview.
Hey it's Kai again...some answers to questions I'm getting:
I was born and raised in Los Angeles. Not Utah. After my church mission to Portugal, I lived in Utah for 4 years, part of that time (briefly) at BYU. I have lived in California ever since. So, no, not a Utah Mormon.
I didn't leave because I'm gay. I left because I figured out that it's a false religion. In fact, I consider ALL religion to be man-made.
The term Sky Daddy has been used for over a decade or two at least. It wasn't invented by Mr Atheist and in fact I had never heard of him before this video. 😎
Yes, I got my endowment... In the Los Angeles temple on Santa Monica Blvd. It was the pre-1990 one that still had the blood oaths and penalties.
While in Utah I attended "ex-gay" conversion therapy. They taught us sports and how to aske girls on dates, among other things, and often told us that getting married would solve our "issue".
Because I still try to help Mormons who want to leave (especially LGBTQ), i DO know the "state of the church" currently. Don't assume I don't know what's going on... I keep up. And just because you've never experienced something, doesn't mean me or Secily didn't.
Also, it's not our job to distinguish between Mormon doctrine or policy or members' bad behavior. Between Secily and me, Anthony has nearly 3 hours of video, and we the interviewees don't get decide what he includes or explains.
Just because you haven't had the same experience we did, that doesn't mean our stories aren't true.
And finally, I have been loving all the sweet messages you've been sending me on my Instagram and here on UA-cam. It warms my heart to know that you care! You are so awesome. Now of course every now and then I get a couple of non positive replies and you might see my fangs come out now and then, but for the most part you have been amazing.
Mahalo and Aloha!
Kai, I just want to say that you seem like a really incredible person and I'm really happy that you're out there living your truth and helping others. Stay strong, friend. I hope one day your family will get in touch again and love you for who your are, without restrictions or limitations, because you deserve all the love and happiness in the world. ❤🌈

Having never been informed on Mormonism before this, it is fascinating to be more enlightened about what it's like and what they believe in, or what they try to force you guys to do. I feel fortunate I was raised in a Christian household with freedom to believe in what I want without fear; much as my mom preferred my siblings and I to be Catholic like her, she never forced us to go to church or follow in it, and let us decide what we wanted to believe. It's always kind of frustrating to hear about parents that don't allow their kids the same freedom of choice to be who they want, but can appreciate those who take that experience to better themselves and do things their own way still no matter what.
I'm glad you were able to be free of those "religious chains" so to speak and be yourself, too. Hearing the way they think of homosexuality is really disturbing, and forcing people to suppress their true selves that way sounds so wrong to me, it's good you were able to get away from it and be happier for it. Hopefully the stories you guys shared help more people with both understanding that struggle and in general what it's like being part of the Mormon faith.
Awesome! Definitely stay open minded to Christianity though and maybe other religions. Most churches (at lease where I am) still accept you have a great day.

That’d be amazing. I’m 20 days sober from a 4 year battle with alcohol.
My mother is a recovered addict and watching her change for the better has been the best experience of my life. I think your idea is great. It would show addicts that they can get help and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
As a mormon, I am genuinely saddened by the things that they experienced. Hopefully the church will improve and the next generation will be more open minded.

I’m new subscriber and my daughter sent me the link to watch your video, my story is different, I spent 40 years in the church served a mission and got married four children and accepted all the callings that I was called to serve, my reasons for resigning started when I read the CES letter from an ex- missionary, the questions he asked were fair and to the point , when I started asking some of my leaders about the same questions all they did was to ignored me and asked me not to question the church history, I asked and search everything that I could find about the church history and found some historical facts that didn’t match with I was taught in seminary classes, then it was the masonry teachings at the temple and how Joseph Smith came up with them and introduced them into the church and by doing so it became a”cult” there is nothing in the gospel of Jesús that teach about masonry and secrets oaths and signs , that was the last drop that spilled the the bucket “” I decided to leave and also my wife and children, it has been a 360 degrees change for me and my family I feel liberated and at peace with my self and my creator .
Most of my extended family is Mormon. Luckily my mom left the religion so I wasn’t raised on it but Mormon talking points were still engraved into my head by my other family members.
