Mike Douglas had a great show, it was 1 of my favorite talk shows, Mike Douglas and James Brown look like they were having so fun on the opening # Chicago, l love that song and l like how Mr. Brown dabbles in jazz etc and that suit Mr. Brown is wearing is sharp!!!! So Sharp.
I am looking for the 5/13/71 episode, as well. My dad's band is Santa Fe Train, and I've trying to get that clip forever. Please, if someone has it, contact me. I've wanted to see it, my whole life.
@@scottcawley10 Scott, this is Mark, I just saw your comment. This is an alt account, I am locked out of my main UA-cam, dunno if I will ever get it back. Yes, I am very much familiar with your Dad, George. My Dad talked about him all the time! Unfortunately, I still haven't been able to locate the May 13 show. I have tried to get it for years.
@@scottcawley10 Scott, I had gotten in touch with the original production company well over a decade ago, and they wanted $1000 to digitally transfer the show from the reels & then edit it and send it over to me. They were gonna make me sign a contract saying I couldn't use the clip for any commercial use, private only, and it would be stamped with a timecode. Or I could pay $2000 and get an exclusive license for the episode. I was in my very early 20s at the time, and was strapped for cash, so by the time I was able to put the funds together, I messaged the back & they told me that they sold the entire Mike Douglas show back catalog to CBS. CBS came & got all the reels. And from what I was then told, they dumped all the reels into an underground salt mine to preserve the footage. I am still very, very upset that I haven't been able to see this performance after all these years. I am still determined to gain access to it, but CBS has been giving me the run around for years. They know they own it, but they have ZERO PLANS for re-releasing any of the Mike Douglas Show materials, except for the box sets that have already been curated. There's HUNDREDS & HUNDREDS of episodes that no one has seen since they aired, that all deserve to be seen & heard. I pray before I pass that I will be able to see it, somehow!
Would you happen to have the episode from the day before on 5-13-1971 which James Brown also co-hosted? The guests were Molly Picon, Dr. Sylvia Sorkin, Kid Gavilán, aka The Cuban Hawk and World Welterweight boxing champion and rock group Santa Fe Train. Thanks.
James Brown is one of my idols. I have mostly all of his music. Can't no one be as funky as James Brown. He was 5'6" but had a lot of Soul Power.
James Brown watch the godfather of his generation. James Brown the Godfather of soul. James Brown the Godfather of wisdom. James Brown rest in peace.
