EXCELLENT as always....holds up for 2024. Love James Brown still to this day, magnificent !
Doc and the Tonight Show Band gettin funky....impressive!
Whaaat.... just knew that was the jb's
They could play anything!!
I love how JB acknowledged the Tonight Show Band for the music...GREAT musicians appreciate each other! Man, James was an underappreciated vocalist!
Underappreciated only in today's world of crapo music. He was godfather of soul/funk nobody did it better, and Clide Stubblefield was a great drummer of his I love
WRONG ! WRONG ! WRONG ! James Brown was never under-appreciated?! Error reply cuz with sales of over 50 million albums and sold out concerts everywhere !!
Calling an artist with over 50 million records sold underappreciated is a little odd. I'M underappreciated, if you're looking to champion anybody. Plus, I'm still alive, so...
Guys he was saying he's underappreciated as a vocalist, not that he was underappreciated in general. Which he was, people know him more for his funky grooves and his killer moves than his incredible voice.
I came of age during James Brown's heyday of the late 50s and the 60s. This man defined my generation, his impact in music back then was the best innovative stuff I had ever heard in my life back then. If you're a baby boomer then you'd get it...
He was unique!
Repent and believe the gospel of Jesus Christ or sadly you will have your part in the lake of fire, you must be born again, you must be seperate from the world and hate the sin of the world, including this trash.
Owwww...I feel good...could actually do some of that fancy slide footwork back in the day...not now...too old amd fluffy...
@@ralphshelley9586 He was one of a kind. The movie they made about his life was really great.
James Brown lived where I live and he stayed in trouble all.the time here. Hollywood does not know of all of his shenanigans....too much cocaine, etc. Yes, he did leave a big mark in music.
James Brown put his ❤️ and soul into everything he sang.
This is true
My first few concerts in 65 were James Brown, Ike and Tina and the Ikettes, the Beach Boys and Paul Revere and the Raiders...pretty cool for a 16 yr old...have seen sooooooooooo many...gave me a love of live concerts
Me too. Love all those performers you mentioned. 💓
You named some of the great ones that I got a chance to see also. Those concerts was concerts with some great performances and singing.
You heard the music 🎶 and the beats.
Nice
As time wore on Id add SRV Jeff Beck...Jimmie Lee Vaughan and the TBirds... Eric... Sir Elton The Stones Uncle Ted Gary Stewart Earl Thomas Conley Jerry Lee Lewis Tom Jones...Many more...saw many of these many x...Joe Satriani...many more rock and country...live in fw so lots at Billy Bobs which hosts rock and country...last few were Lee Roy Parnell Gene Watson and Eddy Rsven in my small town....was gonna see E in 77 but he died that August...never got to see Garry Moore..
one of my faves...never really cared to see the Beatles....saw everybody else though...
I'm about as big of a James Brown fan as it gets, and -- all these years -- I had NO IDEA that James Brown performed "Slaughter's Big Rip-off" ANYWHERE EVER! Thanks!!
Johnny's band brought the goods for JB!
in 2014 johnny carson /tonight show released a official dvd w/slaughter & interview ..You can pick up this dvd on ebay for few bucks ...But that dvd didnt had If i ruled the world which ive never seen before , but i have the audio since the 90,s ...
I saw him in Boston in the late ‘80’s . Me and the other guy I went with were the literally the only white guys in the crowd! We drew some strange looks but once the show started and the crowd got into the show everything was cool . To this day one of the best shows I’ve ever seen . He was the hardest working man in show business!
He was...lol...and he knew it
The legendary "Godfather of Soul". Mr James Brown.." It's a man's world" still gives me goosebumps.
Incredible voice & energy ! He will always be my fav Soul singer ! 💓
Remarkable talent! Living in America!
He's got some pipes!
"If I Ruled The World"... wow, just wow. Most people don't realize what a fabulous voice James Brown really had. This song absolutely showcases his vocal talents. I'm glad Johnny Carson asked James Brown to sing this song. How Glorious!
Some people say he couldn't sing , but he could really sing listen to some of his earlier recordings.
@@Clyde177, just people that never listened to music can say this! James was a complete artist with voice, dance, stage presence, charisma
@dee_dee_place and the first song was good and is proof of Mr. Brown's amazing voice
Nashville, Johnny Cashville!
There are many great clips of JB singing on YT -- but man. That ballad is one of the greatest segments I've ever seen from Mr. Brown. Just speechless here -- thank you!
You definitely feel the funk!
Em todos os cantos desse mundo sempre estará alguém à te ouvir Me Dynamite.
Johnny Carson was Super, just like the greatest James Brown!
The original - the King of funk. He influenced so many who followed.
The best beats every created was from James Brown. He was a gifted genius! We all couldn’t stay seated listening to his records.
Mr. Please Please Himself
Tonight Show Band is tight. Can't be fined by James. That guitar sound is funky.
It’s great when artists step out of their typical comfort zone. Brown, known to be exacting with his band and dancing up a storm, performed here with an emphasis on vocals and music. I love it.
JB had a lot of jazz in his music.
Exacting is a mild statement
King of soul/funk! Nobody can dance either as good as James. Clide Stubblefield was a great drummer underrated of James Brown
TRUE G O A T!!!!!!!!!💯❤️
Don't be a punk, listen to James Brown funk!!!
Some of the best singing ever done by the Godfather ❤️
"I taught Michael Jackson and Prince how to do their stuff haha" (James Brown)
The man had some serious dance moves. James Brown was indeed the real GOAT. When James Brown was inducted into the Hall of Fame, he had two top ten hits out.
Top notch.
I came out of the womb listening to James Brown, the Motown sound, and TSOP
Listen to the horns and guitar and beats. The king for sure
Him and The Tonight Show Band are an incredible pairing. HE'S the KING, and THEY could really play!
he actually is a really good singer!
THE HARDEST WORKING MAN IN SOUL...
What can you say about James Brown. True innovator. Brought funk gospel soul to the mainstream with Ray Charles. Lots of early dance steps picked up by break dancers and Michael Jackson. Just a ton of talent and entertainment skills.
I love this, everyday I see a bit of history on here.
James Brown doing the robot in 1973 at 3:33.
I'm thankful I was able to see him love before he died. And Ray Charles.
Dad used to see James Brown at the Apollo while at Columbia Law School '65-68, and I saw him (sort of ) in 79 in AK and in Paris in 06. Funny cameo in Dan Ackroyd's Doctor Detroit. One of Chadwick's signature roles - The Godfather of Soul, JB! (Great second number here).
I honestly didn’t know James Brown could sing like this… and it’s pretty amazing.
Thank you to the JC Estate for sharing these moments in history.
What a voice this man had. True vocals
Awesome performance
1973! Here is the King of Funk in his friggin prime, folks! ❤
He truly was a class act and set the high bar forever in being the ultimate live performer. No doubt that he was and he rightfully earned the title “The Hardest Working Man In Show Business.” R.I.P. J.B.
I just wanna say... Mmmn ya! Good gawda y'all, alright now, oohh . No one else ever said so little and made it sound so damn cool. The man is a great!
Pure energy. … 🔥👊☮️
JAMES BROWN!! GREAT MUSIC N DANCING IMITATED NEVER DUPLICATED THE GODFATHER OF SOUL
I'll tell you what, I grew up with James Brown, & the first time I saw Janelle Monáe perform, "Tightrope" (at the White House for the Obamas), I thought holy cow, she is the female rendition of Brown. She set the stage on fire. She even sent one of her earrings flying into the audience. POTUS Obama told her where it landed after her set was finished. If you haven't seen that particular performance by Janelle Monáe, please watch it. She was jaw-dropping, in the same exact way that James Brown was jaw-dropping. They both have 'IT'.
Mr Brown was so kind and elegant!
An American legend!
Black American Legend!!!
Great performance of "If I Ruled The World!"
James Brown = amazing
"THE GODfather of Soul"...
Dinamita" y "Hermano Soul No. 1".
I recall seeing the Television article in the World Book Encyclopedia years ago, and it featured pictures of a production of this show. It took me a long time to find it, but this was the actual episode that was featured in that article.
this is the first time ive ever heard the man actually sing instead of the usual grunting..lol wow.. spectacular voice, absolutely spectacular... i gotta hear more...
He was amazing. RIP. ♥️♥️♥️
James Brown is a godfather
When you are one of Michael Jackson’s heroes, it hard to get much higher praise than that.
R.I.P. Mr. James Brown.
Now this is entertainment!
The band is blowing me away!
Do you get the feeling James is just loving this !
The FUNK FATHER HIMSELF! The Great James Brown, The Vocals are amazing here with the band!
✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️😍😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥🔥
Classic footage!
JB, what a world class, talented, innovative legendary man. That 2nd song was like heaven to my ears. This man can sing his butt off with so much soul. JB fan forever!
Open up a window, getting funky in here
James Brown was a class act.
He was great. Very professional top notch. Knew how to play the main room and dress for it.
Was able to see The Godfather of Soul a few years before he passed, even at that age the man was a showman, don't think i've ever scene someone sweet so much.😎
GOD father of Soul RIP James Brown
You know something?
We've all been calling that dance
" The George Jefferson "
but Ali ,
& Sherman ,
both got it from +he Godfather.
What a gem to find on YT!
Mr. Brown and Mr. Carson had great admiration for each other and their particular talents. This was when Late Night Television was singular with great BIG Stars. Thanks for sharing.
I'm thinking that was the 1st time anyone did the robot on TV.
On a major tv network. Soul Train wasn't on a major tv network.
Arsenio's band couldn't have handled this track! No way!
II miss James Brown And the 60 / 70 soul music
I still enjoy Carson even though some of his shows are dated that wouldn’t be relatable today. Still enjoy listening to James Brown too.
Brilliant
That some funky stuff I like james brown
WOW, HE CAN SING !!! HEARD, HE WAS A RESPONSIBLE FATHER, WITH HIS GIRLS.
I saw on UA-cam that James Brown had some violinists in his band sometime back in the 1960s. I really enjoyed that. The violins made that second song If I Ruled the World sound much sweeter. Violins can sound dramatic at times also.
Real SouL Soulfulness Delivers 💯🗽 complexity of Royalty in SouL Music 🎶🎵 Universal Properties 😊❤❤❤❤❤😊
You better know it! Know what? It’s in the groove! What a jazzy funky James Brown! I love it!
That robot 😮
James Brown Brings the Funk.

Outstanding
Sturdy 🕺
There will never be anyone like the Godfather of Soul 💞
Michal Jackson stole all Browns moves😛
3:32 NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY HE IS THE FATHER GOD THE GUY IS A GOD WHEN IT COMES TO DANCE!😮
Get down James.
Damn I miss that fella.
TWO everlasting LEGENDS, MJ AND THIS ONE, JB...INCOMPARABLE!!! PERIOD.
JB doing the robot. Get down Mr. Brown and Doc and the band.
Never knew he EVER performed this tune anywhere or that it was an actual single. Maybe he was looking for SHAFT like success with it.
He have a beatifull voice , the master of soul and funk
❤ 🕊 MuchLove!!!
I see where Michael Jackson got his dance moves. JB the greatest!
This was just plain funk, The Tonight Show Band really, really, really back James Brown up, l like that drum beat and those horns were funky and If l Ruled The World was fitting, shows again that he could sing any style etc
