That's my baby went to all concerts in Chicago. I paid my dues for entertainment. Never did he disappointed me not none concert. He gave me the 🥁 sticks to the drum after he beat 🪘 the drums.he knew me at every concert. I had the loudest scream.
the accomplice smile that Bootsy gives to Catfish at around 8:37 makes me smile too. just imagine how crazy it is to be living your dream and also for your brother to be living his dream, and they were living it together!!! it's like they still couldn't believe it 🤣
Exactly. There's a show from the Netherlands where he was wearing a tight bodysuit. He was completely wet with sweat. He ran offstage and changed to a different costume.
You know your serious when you have two drummers, what an MC JB and Bobby were, best band ever, James killing me with those stop on the dime breaks to start a new song, Bobby Byrd w tha pat n leather pockets and shoes to match lol 😂
James' Brown came to Wilmington Del., with no warning it started pouring rivers of rain JB continued to jam but it came down so heavy you couldn't see. The funny thing was the Jeri Curl was very popular then and JC activator was dripping burning everybody's eyes, the reaction was so funny. 🎤🎼
Roofers' work hard ' too, so thats no guarantee for success , but for poor boy from Georgia rise to his level of achievement it took tremendous amount of musical creativity and drive and do it well , I mean do it like no other band in the world. Thats why he should be remembered for more than just 'working hard ' but for being a musical genius and in my opinion the Greatest American Musician ever...
The energy in this whole show was just...grand! 🙌🏽 to see this whole thing in the same quality shown in the Rise of JB doc...I’d probably faint 😭 Lawd have mercy!!
This is one concert that's begging for a full restoration. I have seen a few tantalizing clips in much better quality. There is of course the Love Power Peace album with truly excellent sound, although that was apparently recorded on a different night of the same three night run at the Olympia as the filming.
i didn.t even realize at 10:12, Phelps Catfish Collins segued into soul power on guitar. it wasn't until Bootsy hit the bass a couple of seconds late, then i knew. That segued way from Get Involved into Soul Power was so damn dope!
One of the greatest live performances of all time. Despite the crowd going completely nuts during Super Bad, at 5.50 he and Bobby somehow manage to take the energy level up another couple of notches further still for Get Involved/Soul Power.
One of the livelest performances ever captured on tape - The Godfather of Funk and Soul at the Olympia. Funny to see as much security on stage as musicians, haha! At those days mostly people are not allowed to stand up, so many security got scared...
I just notice something , when he did soul power, this was soul power reprise. I actual footage of the original soul power is cut from the show they release because I know for sure it was a damn near a real deal riot on the one he did with the lyrics
This would mean it was also cut from the CD, LP and Video, which is doubtful. JB was renowned for his medleys. This was '71 and bands often left their current hits until the end of the show.
@@SoulOnTopJB I digg that, I can't remember what I saw it on. It might have been on Mr. Dynamite documentary, but when they showed soul power, it was at the beginning in how he would transition out get involved with the horns prolonging that infamous I call key of train because that's exactly what the horns sound like lol. But anyways there were people rushing the stage etc. I was like i never seen that on the video. I remember Jabo talking about this show and saying that he came back on stage three times during the ending of the show. Now granted it could have been the second show or later on that year when they came back in October of 71.
@@andredawkins7041 Not sure, the "Soul Power" opening on Mr Dynamite is from this video, you can see the security standing on stage. The stage was rushed after he finished "Please Please Please", then he goes into Sex Machine for 38 seconds then it's what you see on this upload. I don't know how many gigs he did in Paris back in '71, but "Soul Power" is shorter than the official releases.
Paris never knew what hit them! RIP JB, you ARE the Godfather of soul...Period!

The energy unmatched the crowd inspiration best to ever do it
Bobby Byrd Number 1 sidekick of All Time!!!
And seem like a great friend to Mr. Brown I’m watching “Get On Up.”

The MAN! .................Anticipating every squeal and sound from this incredible Musician/Dancer/Singer!
He's literally dripping sweat. The Hardest Working Man In Show Business.
Exactly. There's a show from the Netherlands where he was wearing a tight bodysuit. He was completely wet with sweat. He ran offstage and changed to a different costume.
And Drummer Jab'o Starks ran those Hits ON ONE HAND!!
😎❤🤘🏾🥁
Really? Not figuratively?
That sweat was dripping off of his chin
I LOVE THIS GUY MY IDOL MR JAMES BROWN THE BEST EVER REST ON PEACE.
Bootsy handling bass
Why am I crying? This shit is unbelievable

The horn section 🔥🔥🔥
What Bobby Byrd and James Brown were doing is what we old school heads call MCing. Wonderful footage.
The movie Get On Up with Chadwick Boseman as James brown re-captured this scene perfectly ✊🏿✊🏿
Will never be another like Him.
The audience on the third song, you can literally feel the energy, they had Superbad, Get Involved, Soul Power was too much 😄😄
True .
Absolutely.
I was super young and super bad .. I was there ..
When I think of it..
THE BEST EVER MR SOUL JAMES BROWN
JAMES BROWN IS GREATNESS, REST IN PEACE GODFATHER OF SOUL, MR DYNAMITE.

Aye, tough act to follow up on that video (for me anyway). 😕
I have to tell you in order to feel the funk you have to actually be there Incredible funk of James Brown back in the sixties
Arguably my favorite exit song for his concerts! Perfect music to leave the stage and keep the people pumped up!
Great wasn't it, even Ann Norman was pumping the air.
At the end of his ABC 1974 concert I'm sure they go into get involved as he leaves the stage
He had that place rocking!!
Absolute Genius🎼💯☯️📖✝️🎶🎓🎹🥁👀💡🎓💕💫🎙️

I'm pretty sure his security detail are from 'The Nation of Islam'.

This performance was recreated for the JB biopic Get On Up.
anyone thought about syncing the audio from the recording - which is HQ - with this incredible video?
