This is so quick, easy and delicious😋 I make it with red lentils, but I liquidise the soup and it gives it a lovely colour - the lemon juice makes all the difference. I add coconut cream to keep to the vegan friendly recipe. Our church puts on two soup lunches in Lent and you can easily double-up the recipe for a crowd. A really useful recipe to have in your repertoire!
Thanks as always kristen! I just bought my first bag of lentils so I came looking to see if you had any lentil recipes and of course you do! I have no idea if I will like the end result but I'm going to give it a try. I have been on a weight loss program and they are big on lentils so since I'm trying to balance my food choices to suit the program, I figured I'd give myself another variety to try.
Your Lentil soup is my Favorite Soup!.. I make it regularly, Never get tired of it...Last night I made GooLash... lean ground beef, olive oil, onions ,garlic, bell peppers,Serrano pepper, worstershire sauce, macaroni pasta, canned tomatoes, and tomato paste, water, and at the end( because of your tips) I added balsamic vinegar... was sooo good
Made ur delicious lentil soup today Kristen, turned out sooo good!!… going to serve tonight with some garlic Naan from our local Indian restaurant (and maybe some chicken 65….😉
@@AMindFullMom Incidentally I took 2 big medium size potatoes and roughly cut them about 1.5 inches squarish. It filled the instant pot a little bit over the recommended line but everything was OK. 15 minutes is perfect time and another 20 minutes to cool down, and voilà ! A dash of cayenne was added beforehand but no more, 'cause it can be over-powering. Upon opening the cover soft careful stirring is best to avoid breaking up the potatoes. That about resumes my experience. Tomorrow guess what I'm having as left-overs ? You guessed it ! Lol.
I typically wash and soak my dried beans, chickpeas and lentils overnight. If using soaked lentils would that cut cooking time? Do the carrots come out mushy at the full 15 minutes cook time and natural release? Thanks you!
YAY! Love hearing you enjoy so much! you can freeze lentil soup in a freezer-safe container, leaving up to 1 inch of room for expansion for up to 3 months.
If after you sauté the veggies you put liquid in then punch pressure cook and time but leave lid off it will be heating while you put rest of ingredients in then heat up time is allot less.
That is true, but it can also cause a burn notice and will change the results, as I calculate cook time based on time it takes to come to pressure as well.
Great recipe and presented in a calm, pleasant format! Soup came out great. I made mine in a 3-quart mini so as not to have too much to freeze. Used same proportions. Used on-hand fresh fennel in place of the celery in the soffritto and it was a good trial substitution. I added a half teaspoon of Indian vindaloo with the spices, just because I like little heat from profiles different than for Mexican cuisine. Thank you for your very well done vid!!
Hi Groana! If you are adding more lentils, you would need to increase the liquid, as the lentils will absorb the liquid as they cook. No need to increase cook time. And if you need more time, simply pressure cook 2nd time (it won't take as long to come to pressure) Enjoy!
I had my doubts about the pressure cook time. Fifteen minutes was way too long unless you want really mushy lentils. Maybe half that time. This was awful.
@@AMindFullMomHi, I used brown lentils. I used 14 minute high pressure, and it came out like thick, split pea soup texture. I hardly ever toss food out, but this was one big exception. I will try 6 or 7 minutes next time. Brown rice is only 9 minutes high pressure, and that usually takes longer on stove top than brown lentils.
Thank you. I was wondering where the recipe was. On a sidenote, I added a little bit of crushed red pepper flakes and it added that little bit of heat and a little bit more dimension to the soup. But I really loved the idea of adding the lemon. It really does round out the flavor. Good easy soup recipe thank you.

I was in a rush and added balsamic vinegar with all the herbs and pressure cooked. What is gonna happen with my flavor 🤨😊
It should still be delicious!
I tried this recipe and enjoyed it but it seemed heavily acidic...is there anything I can do to balance that?
Hi Stephanie, it may have been the quality of the canned tomatoes, but try adding in a couple of teaspoons up t o1 tablespoon of sugar to the soup.
I would love to try this recipe but I can't see the link to the printable version anywere :( Help please?

Can you redo this recipe video but with potatoes,??
I will have to experiment with adding potatoes.

Hey there! You may want to read my story. I eat, and I eat plenty. But I have a life-shortening disease which impacts my absorption.
I had my doubts about the pressure cook time. Fifteen minutes was way too long unless you want really mushy lentils. Maybe half that time. This was awful.

Your audio is messed up. It s REALLY bad. You should use headphones before publishing your videos to make sure the audio is correct.
I have been made aware of that and all videos now are done correctly. Sorry about that.
