Crocheting over 50 years and that dreaded chain. Thank you for such a clear, to the point and easy to understand chainless first row
🌹⚘💐
@@crochetdethuongsaigon2989 😊
YES.
Great video. This is going to save a sweater I am working on. I'm like Ms. Reilly below: never too old to learn something new. I am 73. Happy crocheting everyone.
hey how u doing today ?
Thank you, thank you. I have watched at least 5 videos for a FDC and yours is the only one that made any sense at all. And thank you for not laboring over how to make a slip knot. If we don't know how to do that we have no business trying to crochet.
I totally agree. I also watched many and yours is to the point .
as someone who chrochets regularly i still dont know how to do a slipknot and had to look up a tutorial before coming back to this video so pls dont assume everyone knows everythibg already thx❤
Thank you for making it just 2 min. When I need to remember how to do this I really don't want a 10 min tutorial... ❤
I watched five videos trying to learn this and you finally showed exactly how to do this. I am so happy I found this video, I have really been struggling with this!
That is how I like my tutorials - clear, to the point and cheerful. Thank you. You and VeryPinkKnits are my yarn heroes - I can now start my very first pair of crochet socks. Brilliant.
💐⚘
This is just what I NEEDED TO CREATE THE LEFT SIDE OF BOTH THE SQUARE NECK and then finish the rest of my left front of my summer cotton top. Thank you!
Thank you so much for a clear, to the point video. You did in 2:52 minutes what other s took 11 minutes to complete! I dreaded starting some crochet projects because they usually begin: Chain 342 stitches. . . HA!
Thanks
Great job
So true! Love this instruction!
So true, I feel your pain! LOL!
I agree. Under 3 minutes. The one I just watched was 32 minutes long & not nearly as clearly explained.
Can I tell you how much I have struggled with this and I came across your tutorial and you’ve made it so easy. I had to rip out the beginnings of a project because the foundation chain was to tight and gave a big curve. I can now do it right. You saved me. Thank you!!
This is really helpful and clear!
I also really appreciate the fact that you didn't over-explain everything. It's frustrating as a beginner to intermediate crocheter that so many videos which are designed to teach a specific technique also include "this is how you do a slip knot, this is how you chain stitch".
Thank you for posting this tutorial on UA-cam as I found it very helpful and enlightening. I am completely new to crochet and I find that this might be a better method than continuously making a chain. I understand that there may be some instances where a chain might be necessary but I hope that most of the time I will be able to use this method instead.
Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks !! I am an old school crocheter, but you taught me a new trick.
This is very clear and easy to understand. Thank you so much . One is never too old to learn something new.(73)
Yeah! :D
Ditto! X 1000! 😀
DITTO as I'm 54 YO, myself, and, have been crocheting since I was only 6 YO !. LOL ! 😉
I have undone and done over so many of these, practicing this stitch, I would even walk away frustrated. I'm not a quitter so when I would come back and try again I would watch even more videos, but I finally got it. I wanted to "show off" and tell everyone! Thank you, thank you, thank you. BJ Gatten
Thank you will try it . I crocheted for many years. But stopped a while ago. I made 3 afghans for Christmas gifts. It was a struggle because had done any in over 30 years. Now being older and having bad arthritis in my hands and shoulders and neck . It was a stressful. But I got them done. I got in genealogy and have done that for 48 yrs. Need to try to crochet again. Happy Holidays to everyone.
Love love , it’s so clear and simple, I didn’t even have to turn the audio on 😂 .
Also I love the length ! Short and sweet ! It’s perfect !
Wonderful tutorial. Very well shown and explained. I'm 53. This is a game changer for me after decades of doing this craft. Thank you so much!
Your stitches are the most beautiful of all the FDC videos/tutorials I watched. And, since I am starting a special project, I watched a number of them to get it just right. Thank you.
Thank you! I've looked at two or three other videos and no one else showed me the progression of the double crochets. It's not obvious to a newbie that you're supposed to see 3 double crochets in a chain.
Thank you so much for not talking too much!!!!! This was so clear and the first video I watched by someone else I swear I could have made dinner before she got done explaining how to make a slip knot! Your videos will be added and shared. THANK YOU!!!!
Clear, brief, and very helpful! I don't have 20 minutes to watch something that should be so simple, so thank you very much for doing just that! My afghans will be even better for knowing this new way to start!
Thank you SO much! I have literally watched DOZENS of videos on this, practised no end, and can still not do it. I was about to give up and start a stunning blanket with just a chain but thought I’d do yet another search. Thank goodness I did: it landed me on your tutorial.
I haven’t even tried it yet, but you are the first person who simply says: “go into the last stitch”. (Most) Others point at where to insert the hook, hold their finger on the stick, talk about “this little V here” etc, but hearing “last stitch” ..... 💡🥂🍾.
Can’t wait to try out, but better go and get dressed first 🙄🤭🤫
Best wishes from 🇬🇧😘
💐🌹
Wonderful instructions. I ha e tried to do this before and other UA-camrs started with dark colors and didn't give clear instructions. Your instructions s were not only clear but with a color that was light enough to see exactly what you were doing. Well done!
Alot of people try to make crocheting seem more difficult than what it really is I am still in the learning process I've watched 100's of videos I think this one bc its right on point and most of all the most important thing in the video is tf he size needle you use I was determined to learn I finally got it thanks
Excellent tutorial. Very clear. Easy to understand. I watched several tutorials and yours is by far the best. I liked that you went slowly and paused after each step and showed the step.
Wow, thank you so much for the clear instruction video. I've tried this before with other videos, but never actually made it look right until I just viewed yours. I'm designing a diaper cover and wanted a stretchy waist so I can weave colored elastic through it and this is just perfect. You made me a happy camper right now! :) I also LOVE your cheerful attitude and voice. You're very easy to listen to, which is a plus.
The best, clear, concise, easy to follow double crochet foundation row that I have seen! Thank you sooo much!
Thank you for making a great tutorial. You didn’t rush through explaining what to do. Now I will do foundation dc instead of staying away from
Doing them . Thank you so much.
Very easy to follow. Love how you went very slowly and explained each step and showed the exactly where you placed your hook.
I love that you just clearly show how to do it without so much talking. Could not say how many videos I either stop or turn the sound down bc all they want to to is chatter about nonsense
Wow, what a great video. Did my first chainless foundation of 172 double crochet in double time. Tension was slightly tighter (by about 2 stitches) than the other panels already completed for afghan but that was remedied by pulling out about 30 stitches and re-doing them, paying attention to loosening the tension. I will never again opt for the chain foundation. Thank you!!
Other tutorial makers need to watch your videos and take notes! Short, easy, and to the point with no fluff. Love it!
Your tutorial is by far the easiest to follow. Thank you for your clear and simple instruction.
I watched so many other videos trying to learn this stitch, this is the one that finally made it click! thankyou so much!!
that was the easiest to follow tutorial for the DC foundation row I have seen..thanks, it's clear now
I have been trying to figure this out for YEARS!!! I don't know how I'm just now seeing your video, but I cannot thank you enough :-)
I have watched several videos on this subject but yours was the one in which I finally understood the process. Thank you !
I have watched so many videos on how to do this, for some reason you made it so easy to understand. Thank you!
This is fantastic! Your explanation is extremely clear, your pace is perfect, and you show very clearly where the hook should be for each stitch! (Great camera angle!!) Wow! Thank you!!
💐🌹⚘
I watched a few videos but found this one the clearest and easiest to see where to put the hook to create the chain. Thank you.
Awesome video. Thank you so much. Hoping with practice that mine will look as even as yours. I watched several videos on this technique and yours was the clearest to see where you were putting the hook and calming to listen to.
I've watched several different videos demonstrating this technique but this is the one that clicked. Thank you!
Thanks for clear and concise directions. I always forget how to get this started and you did it in 3 minutes!
💐🌹⚘
Absolutely fabulous video. You speak clearly, the picture is clear, and you are at exactly the correct speed.
I got it.
Thank you for making this video straight and to the point and uplifting! I have been trying to learn this technique for days - and I’m not kidding, really days and I went back to your video, which I never really gave a chance, and I learned it in seconds! I can’t thank you enough. Best wishes and looking forward to more videos in the future from you.
So many ppl in tutorials make u go through some crazy loops on base where u said just go into lower loop no crazy splitting a stitch. So great. I am deleting others and keeping urs only
Thank you! I have watched several videos that did not show this stitch clearly. I finally got it!
I have not been able to do this forever! This video was quick to thr point and helped me learn how to foundation chain finally thank you!
The clearest, easiest, shortest, helpful tutorial on how to do this. Thank You!
Thank you for this wonderful, easy to follow tutorial. I couldn't for the life of me, figure this out until I watched your video!!! I almost gave up!! :)
I wanted to tell you thank you for making such a wonderful video. I was telling everyone on my fb page that I love this way of starting blankets and everyone wanted to know how I learned. I shared your video!
Very clear! I had given up on chainless foundation attempts bc I just couldn't seem to get the tutorials. Then I found yours and life changed!😁 Thanks so much for the concise, easy to understand tutorial!💕❤
The foundation stitches took me a little while to catch onto when I learned them. I found your video and it worked well to refresh my memory so I can start the pattern I wanted to try. Thanks!
This was just the best video! I was about to give up, I couldn't grasp the concept of another video, then I found your video! I really liked how you showed the steps close up as well as clear, to the point, with this information, I am on my way! Thanks, I think I will check out some of your other videos!
Best video for this ever! Thank you! I had such a hard time figuring out where the last stitch or previous stitch was, but I finally got it thanks to you!!!! Thank you!
JUST found you here when trying to remember how to make a double foundation chain. Thanks for the easy & quick tutorial.
Subscribing now! 😁😁 Hoping to get some inspiration for my own channel…I’m just not too confident
This is terrific! Short & sweet and full of information!
I am working on filet crochet curtain panels and this will come in very handy when I start my 2nd panel. Thanks you so much!
🌹💐
Thank you for explaining so clearly and quickly how to do this amazing stitch...I have put off doing patterns for years that start with counting chains 😡..So thanks again ..I will have no excuses now 🌸
I hate making a chain then the tedious task of going back to make the foundation row, love this, thank you for sharing i will give it a try and sure hope I can do it.
Your video presentation of the hook placement is very clear to see and understand for me. Thank you for sharing.
Lynne Nisbet So happy to read your positive feedback on this! Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed :)
10/10 You nailed it. Shorts, clear, impecable. Keep it up!!! And thanks ♥️
Thank you for the good video. I've been watching a different video and just wasn't "getting it". I see how now. You're almost turning the work upside-down to find that single crochet at the bottom (the correct place to insert the hook). I was having trouble seeing it, but now I see it. Thanks!!
Thank you for this very well made tutorial. I am able to see everything you are doing step by step. Your verbal instructions are excellent as well. Many other videos I have watched were confusing. Your instructions are so clear. Thank you, thank you thank you.
You speak so confidently and friendly. Thank you. It was great! 👍
Awesome! I have struggled with understanding the Chainless foundation row but yours is so uncomplicated and easy to see where the hook should go!! Thank you so much!!!
Best crochet tutorial I’ve seen everyone else sucks at making videos as I am a visual learner
Thank you so much just started crochet this is a great video so easy to follow this is a solution to me having a tight chain even when using a bigger hook this foundation stitch is nice and stringy.
Thank you! This is perfect pace to follow-not too fast or too slow! Easy to follow and understand
Thank you SOOO much on doing a quick , easy, and simple tutorial! I am making a scarf 🧣for my 6th grade teacher and she will be so happy!! So thank you again for being so simple and sweet!!!
Just cant do it
Same 🥲😭
Same here too! 😂😆🤭
Try watching a tutorial that's not using a bright or really dark yarn. I find sometimes it's hard to see the stitches clearly when the yarn is too deep or bright or when it's unraveling easily..
Maybe try to do a single crochet foundation chain first, and with thicker yarn so it’s easier to see the loops? That method helped me a lot 😊👍
Omg! I've been crocheting for many years this is 2nd video I've watched and I can't do it either! 🥴
Well done!! Best tutorial video ever..I have tried many others for this stitch with no success!! I watched yours once ..and i am a pro!!! Thank -you!!
Yours is far better than all the rest in instruction and your particular technique. Thank You
Love the video. Right to the point on how to complete the stitch unlike other videos that go on and on.
Thank you so much for this I can't believe I have only today learned to start by doing this rather than chain first then attemping to stitch into each chain.
The best demo of FDC so far......beautifully done.thank you and God bless you.
This is wonderful! And so easy. It makes such a neat first row, and it lays flat, too. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Thanks you so much I knew what and how to do the stitch but was confused on how to start a foundation chain with them I thought were added on I’m still getting my feet wet and I love the learning process and specially for people like your self who are willing to teach and helps so again thank you
OMG! I've just been stuffing around for well over an hour trying to get this stitch done on another site! Thought maybe I should just stick to the basics 😞. Then I found You! Hallelujah! Faith restored, I can stick with the big kids now 😀, Thankyou sooooo much, Awesome tutorial, simple, clear and to the point.
💐🌹⚘
Anyone giving this a thumbs down it an idiot, period, love the contrasting colors and the no nonsense verbal instructions. good job!
I just want to thank you, thanks to your video I finally got how to do foundation double crochet !!! 👍🏻👍🏻😊
Thank you for this tutorial and also the FSC. They are very clear, concise and easy to follow. I have to look up these stitches every time I want to use them but I think now I will remember them because you made them easy to follow. I have subscribed to you and will be getting help on future stitches with Gleeful Things.
I tried the chainless foundation before but couldn't get it. I got it now from watching your video! Thanks and I'm sharing on my blog, hope you don't mind!
Your explanation of this stitch was super easy to understand. Thank you!
have not tried yet, but you video makes it look SO easy, so thanks for that!! And for keeping it simple. Will have to give it a go!
your tutorial is the best one I've seen. great teaching style. thank you.
Best tutorial I’ve found thanks so much, I’ve been struggling with this for WEEKS
That was fantastic. thank you very much for the tutorial. I have been trying to figure out the foundation for a while now. you are a scholar and a saint.

Yay! Thank you! I’m glad it helped! 😊
Thank you for such a clear and concise explanation of how to do this. I don't think that I will be going back to chaining again 😊
I share several of your videos to my crochet group. You have such great videos.
This is a really great tutorial. I like that you start with a chain 4 (all others I’ve seen are chain 3). Thank you!
Thank you so much for a clear, detailed, and slow enough tutorial that I could follow along with you. You are very helpful! 😃
💐🌹⚘
Having read the comments I quite agree. Yr video by far the simplest to follow. Thanks !!
I wish I had seen this before I chained over 100 and can’t seem to get the double crochets to match up… This is a great close-up video! Thank you so much!
WOW! This is so easy! WHY didn't I try to learn this before?!! Thank you for this clear & easy tutorial! :)
Watched several videos on this stitch. Yours was the easiest to understand. Thank you so much.

Wow...I thought it would be so hard, you made it look so easy. Thank you so much for your tutorial. I completely under how to do it now, I can't wait to try this on my next crochet project.
