Most rack manufacturers, APC included, suggest that you mount cage nuts horizontally (ears to the side) and not vertically. From the APC rack manual: "NOTE: Install cage nuts horizontally, with the ears engaging the sides of the square hole. Do NOT install cage nuts vertically with the ears engaging the top and bottom of the square hole."
also - don't install them in the front, as shown here...
Thanks for your comment Lambda, this was a video to show how our installation tool works not how to install cage nuts. So yes you are correct we would tell our customers to install them this way.
@@DmnkRocks Hi Dominik, yes you are correct. Just a video demonstrating our tool and how to use it :)
Yes to all the below comments! Wrong side of the rail(not goes on the back/inside, and side to side not up/down for the clips. Show me you using this correctly with a 1ru space with something above and something below already in the rack!
Hi Dan, Thanks for your comment. You are correct in saying that this is the wrong side and we tell all our customers to install them the way you just described. This was a video showing people how to use our tool. If we were to installed the cage nut correctly then you wouldn't be able to see the tool in action.
I believe the cage nut should be on the inside of the rack rail - opposite side from the screw side...
You are correct Dave, we were just using it for demonstration purposes to show how our installation tool worked
