- Cage nuts have been the mainstay of mounting equipment in racks for decades, then Rackstuds came along and changed that, now there is another alternative but is it worth the price?

Unfortunately, some wrong information was given here about our /dev/mount. The /dev/mount is not dismounted as described in the video, but very quickly and simply (and also gentle on the fingers) with a short pull on the back. See here how it's done: ua-cam.com/video/Pyg0pGZYLUs/v-deo.html
Hi Patchbox, quick shorts update ua-cam.com/video/3EAtIth2BGg/v-deo.html demoing the correct removal but also the concerns I still have with them as per my email, nothing a bit of fine tuning can fix I'm sure
The dev/mount is actually cheaper than the the studs in rhe Netherlands it seems, the studs duo sell for around €56 and rhe dev/mount are €50 for a 50 pack
I need some of these !! Good video!
Yes you do
Maybe I'm missing something, but is there a reason not to use an m6 bolt and square nut to make the stud and then use a nut to secure the device? Cage nuts work well enough for pretty much anything I need, though it would be nice to have studs to ease alignment.
You could....but both rackstuds and Dev/mounts make it so much easier than having to make things locate on wobbly bolts
I don't know how much it matters but rack studs will act as an insulator between your rack and your device casing whereas the devmount is conductive.
I went with /dev/mount
In the US, there's very little price difference. 50 Rackstud Duo are $60 USD and 50 /dev/mount are $56 USD
where you can get /dev/mount with $56 USD ?
The one mounted with the dev/mount seems quite wobbly. Is that because the spring clip gets mashed between the rack and the component? That's my only complaint about cage nuts: the tips of the spring clip stick out to the front and prevent the component's mounting ear from sitting solidly against the front surface of the rack.
The Dev/mount is very solid, but it's still got sharp edges on it and the rackstuds are easier to grip and do up, if you need metal mounts they are fine but I still think rackstuds are the better product
i use the dev/mounts with rack studs nuts :)
You rebel!!!!
For me dev/mount is way cheaper than rackstuds as my only option is to buy rackstuds from amazon in the US. I paid about 384 PLN for a 100 of rackstuds and it's about 164 PLN for a 50 pack of dev/mount.
metal absolutly more secure.. is it worth 2x the price ? nope
rack studs wont hold equipment level.
