Would you please add the new Mclaren 720s Evo 3D model to your google folder collection? Another Question, How to wrap a car with pattern and to be symmetrical all around? I can’t do it. Every time it looks weird.
Hey LoWreck, how you been? Have you by ant chance found a file for the new Mustang that works with blender? I found a couple but the don't work properly as when you zero out the alpha or change color to base nothing happens. You can't paint on the car itself and must use the wire frame only.
@@LoWreck yes but it still don't act like the other files, even the GT2 cars work, but the mustang won't allow you to paint on the car, only on the wire frame in the left panel.
Make sure that you have: - enabled Paint Mask (Cube-like icon on top left of the 3d view) - Viewport shading is set to Material preview (press Z and select Material Preview) - the car is selected (hover your mouse over the 3d object and press A)
So I've been learning blender from your videos doing a follow along, and I've had to do some things over and over. I still haven't finished a single car livery, due to the fact I haven't found anywhere showing someone doing a complete wrap on a car. "WRAP" whole car wrapped in one picture scene. Like a landscape or something that covers the whole car front to back, top to bottom, and all the sides, front and rear. Could you do a video on that, or can it not be done in blender? Thank you for your respinse.
I've only managed to get an image to wrap around a simple object like a sphere for example. For some reason I've never been able to do the same with ACC car models. So when doing liveries like the one in the thumbnail i.e., that is just lots of patience and stenciling in from all sides, rotating the camera with keyboard, little by little.
Gotcha so it's pretty difficult to impossible. So, I'll probably have to cut the picture up and stencil it on like a normal graphic. Thank you for your response.
many thanks for this video. finally i know how to do it. quick question how do i apply a brush with a logo mirrored whitout the mirrored side is readable. if you just mirror the image it is of course mirrored. but i want it to be radable . how do i do that?
Paint it on one side and have the mirroring on the X axis enabled. This will pain the same decal on the other side, but it will be mirrored, so text will be backward, but we need it there to get the exact position. Now switch your view to the other side and position your decal stencil over the mirrored text, disable mirroring on the X axis, and remove the stencil, by clicking on the X bellow the stencil texture image on the right panel. At the top instead of Mix, select Remove Alpha, and delete the mirrored logo. Switch back to Mix, and open the same texture for the stencil again, which should be on the exact same position if you haven't moved your view, and now you can color in the stencil on the other side.
Hi, Whenever I modify the .json file with the custom skin name it just removes the car that I have created. I have tried using wordpad & notepad to modify it but neither works. Can you help please
When this happens, the JSON file is corrupted. Take care that you do not change the format of the content in any way, and that when you change the customSkinName value you keep the value in the quotes, i.e. the whole line must be (including the , at the end): "customSkinName": "your livery folder name", I cannot say what went wrong for you, I'd need to see the screenshot of the edited file to see what's wrong
AAAAAaaaarrrrgggghhhhh I give up with these stupid json files.. Mine just won't edit like everyones elses seem to do. Simple task just won't work for some reason
Do you mean you do not see the mesh on the 2d image on the left? It just means nothing is selected for painting. Hover your mouse over the view on the right and hit A to select everything
Make sure that you have: - enabled Paint Mask (Cube-like icon on top left of the 3d view) - Viewport shading is set to Material preview (press Z and select Material Preview) - the car is selected (hover your mouse over the 3d object and press A)
i am making everything as you saying, i import the model, i see the 3d car but when i press the texture paint and after i dont see nothing and i cant continue the steps, what am i doing wrong?
You need to properly connect the materials, and then click on a specific view. It is in the video, watch it carefully. Sorry for a vague answer, but I am currently recovering in a hospital
Just checked, viewport shading has to be set to "Material preview" Top right corner of the view there are a couple of sphere like icons Or, hit "z" and a "command wheel" will come up where you can select different shading, and select "Material preview"
Hello! i really appreciate the video, and i tried getting the template off of the google drive but when i imported it via the Waveform tool, it showed no textures, is it an issue on my side? :( was really looking into starting out doing ACC skins, and i have fair experience in GIMP for DCS so i was hoping if i could get some assistance
Sorry for a late reply, have you solved it by now? The video you're watching explains the process for Blender 3, if you're using Blender 4, there's a slight difference in how to do this, well, more like where to create textures, but anyway, you can see the process for Blender 4 in this video: ua-cam.com/video/CBASNd2qi-w/v-deo.html
Awesome video. I'm trying to use the 3d obj files with blender and blender is not recognizing them as of today? Is this because something has changed and made them outdated? Blender version 3.6.2.
Not sure if this will get picked up, when i save and copy my decal and sponsor files they aren't transferring to the actual game so the livery doesn't save, any ideas on how to fix?
There could be a number of things. A couple to check: - is your car JSON file updated with the directory of your livery under "carSkinName"? - are your files called "sponsors.png" and "decals.png"? - are the images exactly 4096px by 4096px? - it has happened to some that when they opened the JSON file with notepad, the file got corrupted and spaces got inserted everywhere
Thank you for the video. I see the Ferrari 296, when you go to Texture Paint, there are 2 texture slots there, being EXT_Carpaint_Inst and EXT_Mechanics. Which one do you add the additional base, decals and sponsors textures to?
Hi first thank you for the 2 blender tutorials i want to get into creating liveries and did so in photoshop once which in the end didnt really turn out great. now i have run into something that bothers me. i cant seem to get the wireframe displayed in the image editor tab. help on that is much appreciated.
I cannot get the hover and L to work to paint panel. Went thru everything a couple times to see if I missed something. Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong.
Thanks for the video. How to make the words read from left to right correctly when using stencil tool for both sides of the car because the words are backwards?
The way I do it: 1. Set up a texture with a stencil 2. Position the stencil on the car 3. Paint the logo/wording on the car with X axis symmetry enabled (it will be backward on the otherside, but it's important to have it painted on the other side for the followingstep) 4. Switch the view to the other side 5. Position the stencil over the backward wording on the other side 6. On the right dock under the Texture image click on the X to remove it 7. Disable symmetry 8. With Erase Alpha mode erase the painted logo/wording 9. On the right dock click on the checkered board where the image used to be before and select the previously used stenctil 10. Stencil should be in the same position as you positioned it before so that you can paint over the stencil once more
Do you have the sponsors.json and decals.json in there as well? Are you absolutely sure that you have them in the right directory? Double check with your cars json file located in Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Customs/Cars
ciao grazie per il tuo lavoro è fantastico ti posso chiedere un file di blender già impostato per questo tipo di lavoro , a me non riesco sono principiante. grazie ancora di tutto
Probably a silly question but how do I save it so I can edit it any second? When I save a blender project it just gives me bland car. Also when I switch to add picture or someting I can't paint afterwards. What am I missing?
I can't remember ever having an issue with trying to save and re-open the blender project. Saving normally by hitting Ctrl+S has always worked. When you have the stencil over, you can paint only over the stencil. On the right hand toolbar, hit the X under the texture image to remove it when you want to free-draw again.
Hi, thanks for the detailed guide! My question is this: will the skin created this way be visible to other people on the server? Is it possible to make sure that all the people with you in the game see your skin?
Doesn't matter how you created it, other people will not see it unless they download it. Organised leagues or events usually allow for racers to upload their liveries somewhere for the rest to download them as a pack, or they use a tool like Awesome Simracing i.e. which makes distributing liveries a bit easier
Hello, I made a monster energy livery following your vindeo. The file name in cars is called the same as the livery. Made a new map in liveries with the same name. I even have the decals and sponsors in that map. But it does not show up in ACC at all. I have no idea what I did wrong since I followed your instructions to the letter. Is there something that needs to be done for ACC to see it in the game? Again followed your instructions to the letter.
Did you open the file in "cars" and set the folder name under "customSkinName"? Those files are .json files, and you can easily open them with your notepad.
@@LoWreck I did. I can even see the decals and sponsors as a Json file in liveries. And still it does not show. I tried but I give up. Did my best to make a monster energy livery and for me it was a waste of time. Still liked your video.
I have double checked them. They are all there. The archives are a little bit split: 3D models - contains all 3d models (.obj) files for all car up to and including 1.9 additions (Ferrari 296, Porsche 992, and Lambo Evo2) ACC 1.9 new cars wireframes - contains just the .psd files for the 1.9 additions, Ferrari 296, Porsche 992, and Lambo Evo2 ACC All Car Skin templates - contains all wireframes of all cars up to and NOT including 1.9 version The McLaren link contains the newly added Evo version, both .psd and .obj and the GT2 link contains both .psd and .obj files.
Cheerse mate, thanks for you're nice tutorial! Maybe somone got a tipp for me...whenever i use a png/jpeg as an texture it's so blurry an pixelated. I already played with the scalling - 4096, 2048, whatever is possible to divide trough 2. Nothing worked for me so every Livery with Custom Sponsors or Decals which included png's are in such an bad quality. Some ideas how to fix this issue?
I can't say I've had that before. I asume that the logo you're trying to paint on is of high quality and you are not scaling it up to 4096? Because that would reduce its quality
Awesome guide video! One question: Instead of stencilling images onto the model can you just overlay them on instead so they naturally wrap around the 3D model if going around bends and such? As I noticed the stencilling can sometimes cause oddly stretched versions of the image where I'd like to apply images as if they were actual decals getting draped over the car body and conforming to it's shape without affecting the image itself.
I unfortunately haven't found a way yet. Wrapping an image around a simple object like a sphere or square is easy, but on a complex one like a side of the car, I haven't succeeded yet. What I do in such cases is use the top right XYZ to position my camera, then use rotation with numpad keys, and stencil in one part, then rotate slightly and continue stenciling around "bends". It's not perfect, and requires a lot of patience
@@LoWreck Ah k, thanks nonetheless 🙂 Sounds like a bit of trial and error via stencilling then. I image most images I use will go straight onto mostly flat sections of panels anyway but figured it would be good to know for any large ones I want to drape across the car. Cheers for the reply 👍
@@LawsOnJoystick I’ve tried to do exactly this after learning the process via another video but the image would never wrap itself to the car 3D model for some reason. The video was for car liveries but a T-shirt, maybe there is something missing from the car 3D model or some other steps required to make it work as it seems the best way to apply images.
If you mean the standard ACC sponsors, like Pirelli on all 4 corners and the black side skirts with the couple of sponsors, what I do is I export the sponsors from Blender and then open the exported image in GIMP as a layer on the 2d template/wirewframe and then export that as `sponsors.png` and use that one in my ACC livery.
I'm sorry, I tried finding a solution for this, but couldn't. I advise you re-start the procedure of setting everything up, maybe you missed something?
Great video…. Thank you. QQ when you select a panel to paint (pressing “L”. How do you de select it? Thanks again for the instructions….. keep up content like this 😊
If you want to select everything, hit "A", or if you want to deselect everything, hit "Tab" again to switch to the "meshed" display and click away from the car then hit "Tab" again to go to the previous view.
In the wireframes ZIP archive that's linked in the video description you have a folder named "Paint Values" with a couple of files like i.e., "decals CHROME.json", whichever paint finish you want for your livery, copy it over to your "Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Customs/Liveries/YourLiveryFolder/" and rename it to "decals.json" or "sponsors.json" depending which livery file you wish to apply the finish to. Then just play around with those until you're happy with the outcome. If you want to you can also edit the file in Notepad and play around with the numerical values inside to create something custom.
@@chillachriz27 Oh right, I'm sorry. I mixed up the archives a little bit. I've added a new link to the description, ACC All Car Templates, on that link you can find that folder and the files.
@@johnmellott5570 Did you edit your cars .json file in Documents\Assetto Corsa Competizione\Customs\Cars and added the name of the livery folder under "customSkinName"? The folder in Documents\Assetto Corsa Competizione\Customs\Liveries must be exactly the same as the "customSkinName" value. I go through all of this at 28:00 in the video, if you still wont get it to work, try giving it another watch.
I make a Folder in Livery and name it Greatful Audi I then save my Decal and sponsors PNG file to it. Then in ACC I add the same style car I painted and it makes a json file like 85-230919-134347 I then rename that file same as livery file and open that and also change this " c u s t o m S k i n N a m e " : "Greatful Audi" , Once I do that, the car I saved in ACC disappears. If I check my livery there are only the 2 png files I saved there no json files at all. @@LoWreck
It is when I place the name in the customskinname that is when the car goes away. "Greatful Audi" The second " .....is alway away like this "Greatful Audi " there is a space but even when I move it back it still erases the car. Wish I could send you the png files so you can see if it is in there.
Thanks. Exactly what I've been trying to do for a fiew days after watching this video ^^' : ua-cam.com/video/Ax9OeP03GCI/v-deo.html I usually to my skins in Illustrator (vector general design and vector logo) to be able to do corrections easily (and align things). And with illustrator, all in vector, you can export in 8192x8192px making liveries hi-res and any small text readable ;) What's missing in blender is some kind of stencil masking to allow drawing strait lines, for example. Strait line with a mouse is not the easiest thing :p Masking by unselecting faces & vertex is less than precise. Blender png export can be a very good blue print do draw over in Illustrator. :)
I just looked at your video on your channel. Your JSON file in Cars is corrupted and that's why the car doesn't load. You have blank spaces between everything. My suggestion, remove that JSON file, go into ACC, add a new car/livery in-game, go into your Documents\ACC\Customs\Cars folder, sort by date, rename the latest JSON file, open it in notepad, and set your livery folder under customSkinName and you should be good to go.

My friend, you are very confused about what you are teaching. You need to improve this. You need to detail how to do things better and be sure of the tools used in each action. Why is it that when applying the sticker you say, "Let's click on everything, everything?" And when applying the sticker and resizing it, everything is very confusing, too. How do I select each part of the car to paint? For example, I want to paint only the rearview mirror or only the headlight rim. It's all very confusing. Please redo the video.
Thank you for the feedback! The video is unfortunately not intended to be a full course of Blender, but merely explain some basics. Maybe I can help you with what you're having issues with? The issue you're describing with selecting specific parts of the 3D object is explained in the video, or if you want a bit more details on custom selection you can head to the follow up video where I go into a bit more detail on selection here: ua-cam.com/video/CBASNd2qi-w/v-deo.html I hope that you will be able to achieve what you are trying to do, and if not, I am more than happy to help.

Hard to say, but are you per chance using Blender 4? Then take a look at ua-cam.com/video/CBASNd2qi-w/v-deo.html
And to get the wire frame, the car needs to be selected, which you can do by hitting A (also see the selection section on the linked video)
thank you for the tutorial. when i click on texture paint, the wire does not open automatically. i can only import it separately from the folder. then i see the wire, but the parts are not as light gray as yours. i only see black lines. blender version is 3.5.1. can you help me?
EDIT: who also has this stupid problem. i found the solution. you first have to click on the car and then on textrue paint. then you can also see the bright wire system automatically. thank god, so annoying
Would you please add the new Mclaren 720s Evo 3D model to your google folder collection?
Another Question, How to wrap a car with pattern and to be symmetrical all around? I can’t do it. Every time it looks weird.
thats impossible
Hey LoWreck, how you been? Have you by ant chance found a file for the new Mustang that works with blender? I found a couple but the don't work properly as when you zero out the alpha or change color to base nothing happens. You can't paint on the car itself and must use the wire frame only.
Did you try the one in the video description?
@@LoWreck did you add one here? I will check! Thanks.
@@LoWreck no sir, that is the same as those I have tried Is maybe I amstill using the 3.6 Blender?
I'll double check in the morning, but I'm pretty sure it worked for me before
@@LoWreck yes but it still don't act like the other files, even the GT2 cars work, but the mustang won't allow you to paint on the car, only on the wire frame in the left panel.
Hello, the wire frame is still not showing even if I have the car selected before going into Texture + paint
Make sure that you have:
- enabled Paint Mask (Cube-like icon on top left of the 3d view)
- Viewport shading is set to Material preview (press Z and select Material Preview)
- the car is selected (hover your mouse over the 3d object and press A)
Will this work with asetto corsa cars aswell if so you should do a video om it
ive tried this but for whatever reason the 2d wireframes dont show up on the left hand side
Try hovering your mouse over the 3d model and press A to select all panels
@@LoWreck awesome. many thanks for the help. i am a gfx noob xD
Hi, Whenever I modify the .json file with the custom skin name it just removes the car that I have created. I have tried using wordpad & notepad to modify it but neither works. Can you help please
When this happens, the JSON file is corrupted. Take care that you do not change the format of the content in any way, and that when you change the customSkinName value you keep the value in the quotes, i.e. the whole line must be (including the , at the end):
"customSkinName": "your livery folder name",

I have a problem, I get an error that says "missing textures (or linked) detected" how can I fix it?
You need to create the texture slots (base, decals, sponsors). If you're using Blender 4, see the pinned comment.
for some reason the wire frame does not activate when i try to make the base layer?
Make sure that you have:
- enabled Paint Mask (Cube-like icon on top left of the 3d view)
- Viewport shading is set to Material preview (press Z and select Material Preview)
- the car is selected (hover your mouse over the 3d object and press A)
i am making everything as you saying, i import the model, i see the 3d car but when i press the texture paint and after i dont see nothing and i cant continue the steps, what am i doing wrong?
You need to properly connect the materials, and then click on a specific view. It is in the video, watch it carefully. Sorry for a vague answer, but I am currently recovering in a hospital
Just checked, viewport shading has to be set to "Material preview"
Top right corner of the view there are a couple of sphere like icons
Or, hit "z" and a "command wheel" will come up where you can select different shading, and select "Material preview"
For me there is no "Texture slots" section on the righthand side, so I can't even create the base color :(
You're using Blender version 4. It's above the 3d viewport. See my next video to see where exactly ua-cam.com/video/CBASNd2qi-w/v-deo.html

Not sure if this will get picked up, when i save and copy my decal and sponsor files they aren't transferring to the actual game so the livery doesn't save, any ideas on how to fix?
There could be a number of things. A couple to check:
- is your car JSON file updated with the directory of your livery under "carSkinName"?
- are your files called "sponsors.png" and "decals.png"?
- are the images exactly 4096px by 4096px?
- it has happened to some that when they opened the JSON file with notepad, the file got corrupted and spaces got inserted everywhere
Thank you for the video. I see the Ferrari 296, when you go to Texture Paint, there are 2 texture slots there, being EXT_Carpaint_Inst and EXT_Mechanics. Which one do you add the additional base, decals and sponsors textures to?

Thanks for the video. How to make the words read from left to right correctly when using stencil tool for both sides of the car because the words are backwards?
The way I do it:
1. Set up a texture with a stencil
2. Position the stencil on the car
3. Paint the logo/wording on the car with X axis symmetry enabled (it will be backward on the otherside, but it's important to have it painted on the other side for the followingstep)
4. Switch the view to the other side
5. Position the stencil over the backward wording on the other side
6. On the right dock under the Texture image click on the X to remove it
7. Disable symmetry
8. With Erase Alpha mode erase the painted logo/wording
9. On the right dock click on the checkered board where the image used to be before and select the previously used stenctil
10. Stencil should be in the same position as you positioned it before so that you can paint over the stencil once more
Awsome instruction - many many thanks :)

does anyone know how to change the glass decals?? i want to change the porsche decal in the windscreen
I'm afraid that's not possible. You have a couple options in game to choose from, but that's it.

Is there something that needs to be done for ACC to see it in the game?
Again followed your instructions to the letter.
Did you open the file in "cars" and set the folder name under "customSkinName"? Those files are .json files, and you can easily open them with your notepad.

ACC 1.9 new cars wireframes - contains just the .psd files for the 1.9 additions, Ferrari 296, Porsche 992, and Lambo Evo2
ACC All Car Skin templates - contains all wireframes of all cars up to and NOT including 1.9 version
The McLaren link contains the newly added Evo version, both .psd and .obj

Some ideas how to fix this issue?
I can't say I've had that before. I asume that the logo you're trying to paint on is of high quality and you are not scaling it up to 4096? Because that would reduce its quality
Thanks so much for the great video.
Cheers for the reply 👍
im sure you would import 'image as plane' then use a 'shrink wrap' modifier. im no guru but i've had to do it a few times
After im selecting parts of the car with L, how can i deselect them?
If you hit `A` you will select everything, but if you hit `A` twice quickly, you will deselect everything.
Hi, great video. :) How do I add the ACC sponsors on each car?
If you mean the standard ACC sponsors, like Pirelli on all 4 corners and the black side skirts with the couple of sponsors, what I do is I export the sponsors from Blender and then open the exported image in GIMP as a layer on the 2d template/wirewframe and then export that as `sponsors.png` and use that one in my ACC livery.
thx for this great video!

I usually to my skins in Illustrator (vector general design and vector logo) to be able to do corrections easily (and align things).
And with illustrator, all in vector, you can export in 8192x8192px making liveries hi-res and any small text readable ;)
What's missing in blender is some kind of stencil masking to allow drawing strait lines, for example. Strait line with a mouse is not the easiest thing :p
Masking by unselecting faces & vertex is less than precise.
