A lot actually, but that's the nature of fighting games: no matter how good you are, it's darn near impossible to NOT lose. Hell there's a reason there's 5 gods instead 1 "the GOD", because all five regularly beat each other.
As a caveat I will mention there was a period of time where Armada (one of the five gods) was so dominant he looked unbeatable. There was also people calling him the one true god
Liam Foote and in the past you had Ken who was well above everyone else's level. But obviously at that time the game was a relative infant as far as competitive games go
The first 'villain' I met during my time with the FGC was with FChamp in '09. It was back in the days of Vanilla SFIV and I was a new and upcoming player that was invited to a local. I lived in Sacramento, CA at the time, and people were talking about other people from other areas of Nor-Cal coming to this local as well. It was then I heard a name drop. "Man, FChamp and a few others from the Bay are also coming over." As a new player, not knowing who 'FChamp' was, I looked him up real quick. From all what I could tell, he was a trash talker, which at the time threw me into a loop. I'm not used to actually seeing someone like this. So, when the time came, and the local started, seeing him person made me nervous. I don't know how to react if I get trash talked to. I know I'm new, so any trash talk about me would make me quit this game. Even through the nervousness though, I shuffled my way to him and asked him if he was willing to play a casual game. He laughed, and said yes. I personally was happy, even after getting rekted by his Boxer. After that casual, he talked to me on how to get better since he could also tell that I was new to the FGC, and that made me want to start playing more and more. To this day, I would like to support FChamp because I personally know that he plays the 'villain' so people will get invested into the FGC more. Not all villains are inherently evil. You just need to understand them better. ~Saka
It's like, this is what happens when you mix entertainment, with a competitive sport, that audience members can very potentially compete in, and easily meet, "the characters"...who are also competitors. It's kind of unique to competitive games I think. And I think it might be most common with fighting games.
+sakabato24 Ryan is a nice guy, honestly. You just have to really let him run his mouth to whoever, just learn from everyone. You don't have to engage, and stay neutral in the silliness. Learn from your mistakes, if someone talks trash, just smile and walk away. Just remember that a true opponent will be impressed with themselves and further surprised that they won. Just remember to never shut down. If they get a perfect, that's your fault too. Be humble. That is their ego, and somewhere their insecurity-- you can improve, they think they're flawless most of the time; with that, you can definitely learn how to develop the different styles of your play. Become a student of the game and its cast, once you get a comfort for all the mechanics and start to understand the unique qualities of each character. Know where those characters shine, and you can begin to deconstruct them with whatever character(s) you choose. Learn the ins and outs of the game, frame data, hurt/hit boxes, etc. You will then have everything ready, so long as you keep your execution, footsies, whiff punishes, and max damage punishes (whiffed shoryuken getting grab punished is not optimal); and you'll then be able to destroy your locals. Just remember you're at a local, not a major. Make friends in your scene, develop with them.
I think good trashtalk is somewhat both serious yet not serious Good trashtalk's intention should be to get your opponent to take it seriously but the words also shouldnt come from a real crazy delusional belief
@@Rex-golf_player810 Nah, good trash-talk's intention is to get the hypes up and boost the viewership for ultimately more profit. It's how every professional sport works.
If im not wrong i think fchamp shit talks and gets people mad because thats what hes trying to do but he isnt an actual bad human being (as in an actual cancerous hatebag) This is not the case with ltg lol
The title of "villain" is very subjective and depends on the values of the community. A great example is hungrybox. In melee, he is seen as the worst of the worst and the reason why the scene is dying because he plays jigglypuff. The community has grown to expect melee to be fast and reaction heavy and the current highest profile player playing a slow character will not fly. In ultimate, the community is much younger and not as well defined. Because of the massive roster, players are generally more open to different playstyles. In that scene, hungrybox is seen as the old timer that just likes to have fun, and is even respected for playing jigglypuff.
I love villains as they bring the thing we all need but never want to be: A bad guy (not a bad person but more like a character you make up). They bring something that makes the community passionate even if before they weren't at all. They are your spices to your already good food and make it better, without it then it could be pretty bland.
hbox didn't trashtalk but he did more than just win. He was (by his own admission) kind of nasty offscreen and would hit on people's girlfriends and refuse to play friendlies with anyone, and this is on top of being a "lame" player. The community absolutely was and is unfair to him but you gotta realize that this isn't a simple narrative.
@@TheStrangeBloke It's a pretty simple narrative, especially since none of his behavior was illegal, even if it was shady. "Man cheats on girlfriend" should be a private affair between the specific people involved, and f he wasn't a top player who played 'lame' it would have been.
@@Darius_Cyrus Hbox played lame, won a lot, cheated on his gf, AND was an asshole off camera. I can produce videos where he admits to (in the past) aggressively flirting with every woman in the venue and being an asshole to his fans. Any one of these issues would have earned him some hate, but together they formed the perfect storm. In the end he has received far, far more hate than he actually deserves but its still incorrectto say that he won a lot and did nothing else wrong.

There's this one guy that kept insulting me for maining Shadow Dio in Jojo: HFTF, and every time he saw me in the same discord channel, he berated me without stopping. The worst part? He didn't even play the game anymore.
I was considered a villian in my small smash community in town because of my uncanny skill to lose a ton once my friends learned how to beat me with a character, and then switch to a diffrent character and body them with diffrent fighting tactics. They all said that I only ever fought them with my mini mains and that I hadn't pulled out my real main yet.
+Kwyjibo O_o I think he's considered as a villain think about it, the times where he threatens people like viscant, pikachuakuma, free gucci, infiltration(maybe), bigblack. and boogie2988. don't forget that asswipe has fans that are braindead like him
+Dope Dante Yeah but he sucks. Villains are a threat to the hero. LTG isn't a threat, as he's proven over and over. He's just a scrub with a really big mouth.
Wow I haven't seen a single "smash isn't a real fighting game yet" for a video about villains, this is one of the least toxic comments sections I've ever seen on an fax video
Watching this video after Leffen went a total heel-face turn and is now one of the most proactive and supportive (although in his own very leffen and vocal way) supporters of the community is amazing. I liked him as a villain, he's my favorite player to watch, but his new anti-hero wildcard persona is even more awesome
I’ve got a villain story. This one was at smash 4 tournament that was organized at my school. It was pretty impromptu, i kinda signed up and went during my lunch period. So I get there and the guy who was setting the tournament set up a bracket for everyone and people began to play. The first feud came when people were picking controllers. As some of these people were here for fun, they didn’t have a controller. I didn’t bring one because I didn’t even know there was a tourney today, so nobody had their own controllers. The organizer brought a whole bunch of of them but he wasn’t willing to share some of them, namely the GameCube controllers. He had 2 but didn’t want us playing with them. I got stuck with game pad. That’s not so bad, but considering the option was there I would preferred it. So I move up in the ranks. I was probably the best player there. Not because I’m some smash god, I’ve just had more experience. Most of these people were just picking up smash. So I make it to the finals and I’m playing toon link against a link. And this is where the organizer really began antagonizing. He kept yelling into my ear “you suck. You’re trash.” Which really got to my head. He said I was “Not playing his main correctly.” (I was playing dedede before) I ended up losing. I gg’d and left shortly after talking with a few of the other people who didn’t understand the game’s mechanics. The organizer then went on to beat the champion, and win in an 8 play smash. Needless to say I was angry. I was glad I kept my cool though. At least the other people were cool, and complimenting me rather than saying I sucked.
+Lusty Scripps marn had to be THE biggest heel during the early sf4 days. i can't think of anyone that got more hate than he did at that time. every match of his that got streamed nearly everybody who was chatting wanted him to lose
+RoyStorey it's so crazy to think how much things have changed since then, he's hardly on anyone's radar anymore. You know you're pretty much FGC history when your entire personality is made into a parody character in a game consisting solely of fighting game and FGC parodies. I wonder who the go-to villain in the FGC would be now if another game like Divekick was made.
MegaKhalid121 Bronson tran, pokchop. Knee is kind of a villain in his own right, but that's only applies to Korea. In korea people think that he is a dick and generally route more for jdcr.
Villains can make it really fun when they happen I do have to admit. Even if there's no flat out villains (And it could be argued that it's sort exaggerated for fun most of the time), a bit of salt and beef is whats given this scene its flavor compared to other competitive gaming scenes. If it gets too sterile it just feels like there's something missing. I do have some beef though, with calling people who win too much "villains" just because they win all the time and become the guy to beat, regardless of whether they're a really nice guy or not. But I know that's a distinct (and relatively common) frustration people eventually get with someone who just becomes too predictable in their winnings, and I guess I can't really think of another word for it; but it still always seemed a bit angry mob of scrubs to me to think of someone as a villain just because people can't beat them. But damn, Naniwa. I didn't really watch Starcraft 2 so I had no idea something that dramatic had been going on there (And to a player as experienced as Nestea even I've heard of him.). Kind of makes me wish I had been watching the game around that time to have experienced that.
Marn will forever be my favorite villain. The fact that he used Dudley when i was at my own peak, made it all the sweeter when he'd body people. A villainous gentleman. Then Smug came along and my life... was complete.
I know this is an old video, but the Filipino Champ vs KaneBlueRiver rivalry in MVC3 was something to put in the spotlight. Was like an anime arc. FC humiliating KBR, and the next day KBR slapping FC ass, with the whole crowd cheering on his back. One of the funniest arcs in the FGC history IMO.
I became a villain during my school's Smash Ultimate tournaments. I mained Little Mac, and the moment the announcer said GO I would rush and start having Mac swing for the fences like I was trying to punch a hole through my opponent. The funny part was the "villainous" part of my persona was how terrifying and serious I got when I started playing. Normally during school, I'd have a smile on my face and joke around with people. Put me in a competitive scenario like the smash tournament, I go dead silent, lurch forward to better focus on the screen and have a blank look on my face. Like a switch just flipped in my head and I knew it was go time. I was less like an overtly evil villain, I was more like a monster from a horror movie because I went for the quick kill after the round begins. I got two full stock wins, and by the time I graduated I told the students of the middle and school population (we were a k-12 so the grades intermingled) to keep the smash legacy going.
Patrick 'Aches' Price from the Call of Duty eSports Scene is the biggest example of an eSports heel done very well. The rare kind of heel that makes even hardened veterans in his own league be filled with dread and at the same time, having a grudging respect.
I think an interesting and related topic is how villains can become heros and heroes villains. For example, early on in his career, the Melee player Mango was actually seen as something of a villain, especially on the East Coast, due to being nearly as cocky as Leffen and winning everything for over a year. But now, he's the biggest face in the community by a landslide. I guess this raised the aspect of charisma; some have the kind that makes you love them no matter what (Mango), the kind that makes you love to hate them (Leffen) and those that just kind of lack it altogether (Hungrybox).
Agreed except for hbox, I feel like most uncharismatic people don’t make a career out of live entertainment that depends so heavily on their personality being interesting (streaming).
My friend Ronilo (whom you've actually used footage from) had a sort of rival whom he beat in a tournament and it was some kind of big deal. But then later, the same guy challenged him in a match outside of a tournament, but under a different name. Ronilo had a day and just wanted to play a round to unwind, wasn't really taking the match seriously, and lost. No big deal... until the guy advertised the recorded match as like some kind of big rematch. I'm not sure if he used some kind of trick to make his name appear different either to Ronilo or in the recording, but it was a really cowardly way of getting a rematch that wasn't even supposed to be a rematch.
I became a villain at a local for smash ultimate, a good chunk of people were tier whores who got mad at me beating ikes, lucina's and palutena using only pit. I lost to a hardcore zelda main and it was hype and fun. I'll gladly play a villain if I fight someone like that
In my city there's a place called Game Room, where gamers meet to either play board games, socialize and- of course- play games. They have many pcs, ps4s, xboxes etc set up aswell as a nintendo switch lounge and some other stuff to play around with. 2 years ago, a friend of mine managed to get a surprising amount of people to play warsow, an arena shooter similar to quake 3 thats free2play and runs on every single potato pc. So we started to have some competitions and on our best days we got 26 people to have duels against each other until one player stands as a winner. About a year into that whole warsow scene we started, a 17 y old unknown dude came along and seemed pretty interested. We gave him te game on a usb stick and he started to practice warsow religiously. Soon he started to get onto really high rankings, like at least 4th place on every competition. Many younger players looked up to him, many started to play BECAUSE of him, and he was just a great player overall. The thing was, he was a pretty evil, though hyped up villain. He talked LOTS of trash, but always against players he knew he would beat. He was still being celebrated by many other players, until THAT day. There was a competition where he only got 2nd place, and he seemingly got very angry. He said things he shouldnt've said and challenged the actual winner to a revenge-match. Noone seemed to care he used such offensive speech and the event got hyped up even more, to the point where there would be about 35 people coming to the game room, the day of the duel. At first he had a great run, but he still lost because he couldnt keep his temper down. He got even angrier than before, tried to physically attack and harm the way more obese and obviously physically weaker winner of the duel until me and other people stopped him. He started saying things noone should ever say to anyone and their parents, he got banned from the shop, never came back, never returned some games he borrowed from people he knew at the game room and just left an overall weird atmosphere. After that day, noone seemed to care about the game anymore, the dry aftertaste of his loss made everyone stop playing warsow and the story of our first and only ever "competitive" scene we had in my city died out. A real villain he was, but not one every great story needs. So kids, always play fair and never be a bad loser and a funkiller. You'll just make a huge fool out of yourself and probably lose friends along the way.
another way to be a villain in my opinion is to play in a way that makes people think you're playing the game wrong, but win anyway. an example of this would be hungrybox, playing a "lame" slow character (specifically jigglypuff) in a game considered by its audience to be the epitome of hype and fast pace. except there is the fact that he was too successful for his own good, ending up unironically hated outside of the game by many, as far as I can tell.
That's what made Justin winning UMVC3 at EVO 2014 so hype. At the time ChrisG and Filipino Champ were at the top of their heel game. Justin Wong was a heel but put a lot of work into turning face. He's probably one of the best patient/lame players but played Rufus in SF4 and probably why he starts with wolverine in UMVC3.
I got a villan history in fighting games, about me actually. I was good playing Mortal Kombat X with both Scorpion and Jason, and i had a small group of people that liked playing fighting games together. We did play some Street Fighter, but always when we switch to MK, the objective changed about beating someone and the loser trade the controller, to beat the final boss at the game that was me. It usually went down with me winning a ton of matches, and whenever i let someone win or someone defeated me, everyone begin to jump and cheer the one that defeated me. Yes, everyone wanted me to lose, but i liked it. Being the "final boss" in a FG brings so much good moments like this and we sure did have a lot of good moments and laughs
i mean, Filipinochamp is one of those "super villains" but i also respect his skill, and hey, i do think that he's a cool dude, one of my favorite moments was during a first to 10 between marlinpie and combofiend in umvc3, and on game 19, it was 9 to 8, combofiend pulled his patented spencer comebacks "bionic arm!" and all, and fchamp was among the crowd when they all went insane, and that really connected him to me, still like watching him lose, but if we can both appreciate a good combofiend comeback, then we're cool.
I remember one time i was hanging out with leffen before one of his tournaments. (which he won by the way) we were outside of the venue walking around and someone ran up to him and was like "oh my god are you leffen? Im such a huge fan!!" And leffen just straight up kicked him, like, in the stomach. And then he spit on him.
Conor MC is the biggest UFC villain then I guess always trash talkin, but always backing up what he says and even smoked jose aldo in 13 sec XD conor needs to start playing fighting games :P
+LiangHuBBB That's interesting, I'm Irish and here Mc Gregor is seen as a hero. That's national favoritism of course, but Ireland is generally an underdog country in the majority of sports, UFC, FGC, etc, so to come from there and beat the players from the biggest countries in the world gives him more of that hero's edge.
+Murderous Neil (Macal) Conor is definitely seen as the vilain in many places outside Ireland, specifically in hardcore mma purist circles (not casual fans). We all know he's just playing a character though, he s using the good old wrestling "cheer for the heel" tactic. The Nate Diaz fight is interesting because it has that Heel vs Heel dynamic loll. In the end, no one really hates Mcgregor, the only bad thing about him are his blind fans who say ridiculous things like he could move up, fight Jon Jones at a catchweight and beat him easily. SOunds ridiculous, but some peopele are dead serious when they say that loll.
me and my cousin play street fighter 3 whenever we hang out. he's by far one of the best shit talkers i've known my whole life. i love his shit talking so much that if i had an opportunity to win a match i would purposely lose just to see what he has to say lol
Mr_Beezlebub well, *he says these things to make people laugh,* not to specifically hurt or intimidate anyone like the people in the video. So, yes, between a villain and a clown, *he is a clown. He's a comedian.*
A friend of mine was was the villian of my local smash community because while he didn't trash talk too much, he won everything. But not only did he win everything, he did it with rosaluma.
Cyrekt The closest thing to a real hero in that situation was Mango when he said he'd put $1000 on the line if he and Leffen met in bracket... and he still lost.
Can I say Gobu at Red Bull Kumite? Gobu-Lewis? Maaaaaan, when he came up n out with his Goldlewis during the finals I SWEAR, every move he made, everything he did felt illegal XD And he was REVELLING IN IT! He made such incredible faces pre-match and when he was playing, and the _glare_ he gave when he lost one was just, astounding in the midst of it all, proceeding to end the night with the greatest phrase in the context, (in Japanese, lol): "This. Is. *BEHEMOTH.* " B) I was initially there just to hear the announcement for the newest Guilty Gear Strive character at the time, (Happy Chaos!! I love him!), but after all that, I'm damn well inclined to watch even more live ones, it was amazing :D
I just wanted to tell you to keep up the good work my man, these videos are certainly unique and it's always great to see a video of yours on my subscription feed.
the more i think (and props to the vid author for provoking this thinking) about true villainry in rl, the more i realize how much i respect their prowess and Luciferian level of strength... i could NEVER posses this pinnacle level of confidence in any regard, simply because i've met with surprising embarrassing losses in my life and this had made me so scared at the thought of embarrassing myself in front of a large audience, that i would never try it. if i was winning nonstop, i would just be gracious and nice out of pure fright. in other aspects of my life, my niceness is out of choice and not wimpiness. but in any direct competition in a level playing field where an audience is concerned, no way.
Well how I depicted it...when me and my friends were playing Super Street Fighter 4 on the 360 and my friend was getting pretty good...because of us we made him like fighting games which is cool. There was this kid that we know who lies and is so full of himself. He always brags and talks smack. Luckily he has a PS3 so he is outta our noses...till he got a 360 with SF and bragging on FB and near our lunch table that he can beat anyone in SSF4 and he is the king. One of our other friends came in and gave him our GT's (bad idea) and he started to spam up with invites and messages that he will kick our ass in this game. My two friends and I were just rolling our eyes. I was the best in all our friends (Cody SSF4 FTW) and my friends were taking turns kicking his ass...he won some...some mind you then gets bodied...then when I was up...he never won even a single round against me. As you can tell he was a clown :/ and then suddenly shit talks us and saying that his controller is a little fucked up. He was a joke villan like the Box Ghost in Danny Phantom. He came back a few years later and he actually won against my friends but it was a one time...like it was teired if that make sence. To face me he had to go through my two friends and he did first try...but when he came to me again. He still stood no chance in hell....gave him a combo that I was learning now that I knew how to EX cancel dash the focus attack without having to actually randomly spam buttons and then catch him with ultra...my friends were going nuts cause of how cool it looked. Then the joke dude got his ass kicked by my friends again. He got salty and left...then my friends and I were playing our game safe and sound...and no joke villan again :3
Not a major moment, but among my friends there's one that definitely gets everyone into the game, whatever we're playing, and turns the villain antics up to 11 during actual matches. He's also undisputedly the best player among us, and that's why it was utterly hilarious when, after specifically targeting me for trash talk ("anyone who loses to Elijah takes his place as our worst SF player"), I took him out in the semifinals of a local tournament.
I forget who did it specifically, but I remember a MvC3 match at EVO where a Magneto player kept pushing away a Haggar to run out the clock. It got me deeply invested in that tournament because I desperately wanted to see that Magneto player get his ass kicked after that.
In the first couple minutes when I watched a Big House stream, Leffen walked behind everyone petting a clay duck. That's when I stopped thinking of Leffen as a villain. He's a pretty nice dude though from what I've heard.
Awesome video Core-A-gaming! Will you ever make a video talking about what makes or break a fighting game getting into the competitive scene? I'd love to see your views on it
+Core-A Gaming It would be very much appreciated if u do. I've always wondered why Skullgirls only got relatively small acclaim especially when it was designed to be the 'fighting game fan's fighting game'.... Beyond having an all female cast & heavy ecchi aesthetic I'm stumped
I went to Canada Cup 2016 and had a chance to talk to FChamp while having a smoke. He was pretty salty due to a wireless controller connect on his station during his top 16 or top 8 match that forced him to repeat that game. While venting, we talked about how to improve the DS4 situation with tournaments. In no way did he trash talk other players or the game. We shared input on how to improve certain aspects of the game while staying grounded to the current technological landscape of the game. It was really fun to know that he was really chill.
man, your videos are just great! even when I believe the topic is not appealing, you always manage to surprise me. spot on edition, great analysis and really awesome footage!
It 's funny that the 'I got him pregnant' line evokes one of the oldest myths known to mankind: The 'Condendings' of Set and Horus, in the Osiris Mythos. Some things never change.
I can think few other instances: Fighting GM, one of the best US Tekken players is a classic example of an FGC villain. Not only known trash talking scenes and avoiding tournaments where he had less odds of placing first, but also owing a large sum of money to one of the KIT Administrators and never paying it back. Chris G, asides the things he's usually criticized for, called Robin Williams and other suicidal people selfish around the time of his Williams' death. In my personal opinion, the man can go to hell for saying that. You gonna do a heroes in the FGC and E-Sports as well?
Yeah, not paying money back seems like a classic one. I try to avoid lending money in the scene hehe. Hero topic is on my list, but will happen later down the road.
I was suicidal in my teens, so Chris G's statements probably stung me a bit more than the average person. "Go to hell" is a probably a bit much hindsight, but I still don't care for the guy.
Can you please post evidence.zip in the description? Either way, I feel like Chris G. is more of a villain than Filipino Champ in Marvel, & Elena users like Justin Wong & GamerBee (when either of them use Elena) are kind of the villains of USFIV in my eyes. I'm curious to see what will constitute for a Street Fighter V villain when the game comes out. And to answer your question, Doctor Doom was the first villain to come to mind.
+Neoxon I dunno bout the Elena users. I guess it was villanous because she always comes out for a timely moment where she would kill the buzz/hype. In EVO she came out from every competent player as a counterpick against a character specialist mis-match and just trampled all over their dreams. Even Pepeday on twitter expressed his disgust against being sent packing by Elena. Chris G was a villain I guess due to being the resident Morridoom expert. But that changed things in last years' EVO where a combination of lack of focus and his record against the mirror caused him to visually crack against RF. And RF didn't get any animosity being a morridoom player. I guess the general villain of Marvel 3 now are very good Zero May Cry players in general due to how helpless opponents look dealing with Lightning Loops.
I've never gone into competitive gaming and this is one of the reasons. Sorry, but I don't want to behave bad just to get a slight advantage and "win". I know it's a personality thing, but I don't get why people make a big deal about hype and trashing.
he forgot to mention, after that rap video, leffen beat chillin 5-0. and chillin's response: "my b"
Andrew Anderson did leffen ever lose?

jack90054 to be fair there is zero who for the period of a year was the indisputable best at smash 4 being undefeated for 53 tournaments in a row
Liam Foote and in the past you had Ken who was well above everyone else's level. But obviously at that time the game was a relative infant as far as competitive games go
low tier god would be considered a clown. right?
Of course.
Dro Torres yep he basically described him
The clown fraud.
He reminds me of DarkSydePhil.
WHAT YOU SAY SCRUB ?! GET THAT ASS BANNED !

***** Sorry no hahaha. It's Kisaragi Chihaya from the iDOLM@STER series cosplaying as a cat hahaha.

I'm glad you made that exception at the end there. It's important to make the distinction between the (cartoon) 'villains' and the actual scumbags.
"you can become a villain without trashtalking and JUST winning a lot"
i smell hbox
hbox didn't trashtalk but he did more than just win.
I was considered a villian in my small smash community in town because of my uncanny skill to lose a ton once my friends learned how to beat me with a character, and then switch to a diffrent character and body them with diffrent fighting tactics.
He said I was
“Not playing his main correctly.” (I was playing dedede before)
I ended up losing.
“Are they bad people in real life?” *shows picture of infiltration*
Marn is the FGC's biggest villain, both in infamy and mass.
+Lusty Scripps marn had to be THE biggest heel during the early sf4 days. i can't think of anyone that got more hate than he did at that time. every match of his that got streamed nearly everybody who was chatting wanted him to lose
+RoyStorey He kinda redeemed himself when he took out Chris G at Evo.
Levi Skardsen yeah he doesn't get as much dislike now, it died down when he went AWOL for a while
+RoyStorey it's so crazy to think how much things have changed since then, he's hardly on anyone's radar anymore. You know you're pretty much FGC history when your entire personality is made into a parody character in a game consisting solely of fighting game and FGC parodies. I wonder who the go-to villain in the FGC would be now if another game like Divekick was made.
lazierbeam I'm thinking it would be Chris G, Flux or Filipino Champ.
Kinda sucks that the tekken tournament dosent have any trash talking aside from pokchop.
Theyre there just not all out in the open. People like filipino champ are just dicks. Tekken people keep it amongst each other.
and no one watches tekken XD kind of one of the points that was being made is that a villian increases views.
No one in Tekken needs to trash talk because Aris does it all for them. lol
Kiizenn Bronson Tran?
LMAO DID HE SERIOUSLY PUT THE LEFFEN DISS TRACK IN THIS

Marn will forever be my favorite villain. The fact that he used Dudley when i was at my own peak, made it all the sweeter when he'd body people. A villainous gentleman.
Then Smug came along and my life... was complete.
I know this is an old video, but the Filipino Champ vs KaneBlueRiver rivalry in MVC3 was something to put in the spotlight. Was like an anime arc. FC humiliating KBR, and the next day KBR slapping FC ass, with the whole crowd cheering on his back.
One of the funniest arcs in the FGC history IMO.
Just recently got into the FGC and I'm loving your videos! I hope you are still bringing more out !
"Oh - You're a very bad man!"
"Oh, no my dear. I'm a very good man. I'm just a very bad wizard"
Dang
I'm surprised he didn't at all mention the entire concept of a heel used in wrestling.

People were fine with his style until he started to consitently win. They treated mang0 the same when he won with puff.
@@vDeadbolt yeah, people get angry when you play "wrong" and win, and for many players, playing puff = playing wrong

HAHAHA THE NOEL BROWN BLOWUP ULL
That was a sudden ass transition “...you can also do it by beating women...”
i mean, Filipinochamp is one of those "super villains" but i also respect his skill, and hey, i do think that he's a cool dude, one of my favorite moments was during a first to 10 between marlinpie and combofiend in umvc3, and on game 19, it was 9 to 8, combofiend pulled his patented spencer comebacks "bionic arm!" and all, and fchamp was among the crowd when they all went insane, and that really connected him to me, still like watching him lose, but if we can both appreciate a good combofiend comeback, then we're cool.

+LiangHuBBB Lol yeah but he actually has a likable personality. Now Ronda Rousey on the other hand....

Shoutouts to DSP being the king of the clown section. I think Perfect 13gend fits on this list.
the more i think (and props to the vid author for provoking this thinking) about true villainry in rl, the more i realize how much i respect their prowess and Luciferian level of strength... i could NEVER posses this pinnacle level of confidence in any regard, simply because i've met with surprising embarrassing losses in my life and this had made me so scared at the thought of embarrassing myself in front of a large audience, that i would never try it. if i was winning nonstop, i would just be gracious and nice out of pure fright. in other aspects of my life, my niceness is out of choice and not wimpiness. but in any direct competition in a level playing field where an audience is concerned, no way.
Remember when Hakan is oiled up he’s one of the best characters in the game
I forget who did it specifically, but I remember a MvC3 match at EVO where a Magneto player kept pushing away a Haggar to run out the clock. It got me deeply invested in that tournament because I desperately wanted to see that Magneto player get his ass kicked after that.
kim jong un
>evil
I'd say he's an evil clown.
In the first couple minutes when I watched a Big House stream, Leffen walked behind everyone petting a clay duck. That's when I stopped thinking of Leffen as a villain. He's a pretty nice dude though from what I've heard.

Your videos just keep getting better and better.
Cheers.
Awesome video Core-A-gaming! Will you ever make a video talking about what makes or break a fighting game getting into the competitive scene? I'd love to see your views on it
Could be a good topic when SFV comes out, especially with Evo pulling SF4.
+Core-A Gaming Evo is pulling SF4??? Aww man...
4:50 So.....INFILTRATION is villain now?
OOF
man, your videos are just great! even when I believe the topic is not appealing, you always manage to surprise me. spot on edition, great analysis and really awesome footage!
Worst villain ever.
That big brother who beats you in a game.
Core-A Gaming you better put my man ppmd in the heroes video

I actually busted out laughing here. It was so random but got the point across so well.
at 4:16 idk why but i can't tell if that is a movie or a game
It's a movie.
"Gangs of New York".
Zephyr Sapphire thanks
I don't comment much on youtube, but your channel is Awesome. I really enjoy the analysis of various topics!
Leffen is my favorite villain
lol hbox once told me leffen was the easiest top fox to rest. I was so happy haha
***** Thanks, man.
Great point about character selection. When Xian used Elena to beat Luffy at Dreamhack, F-word was pretty salty about it hehe.
+Core-A Gaming Sorry to ask.. Dreamhack Sweden... when??? I live just like 1h from there.. I was missing out PRO STF4U fights?? :(
+Tommy Danielsson By the end of november. They have being the closing CPT event for 2 years in a row already.
To be honest i really love the format of your content which you are offer us here...please keep up the good work !
I've never gone into competitive gaming and this is one of the reasons.
Sorry, but I don't want to behave bad just to get a slight advantage and "win".
I know it's a personality thing, but I don't get why people make a big deal about hype and trashing.
