I thought about doing this mostly just to be able to bin the lame petrol gauge, but this looks quite complicated and I wonder whether I could stuff up the coding. Plus, not sure I have all the necessary packs on the car, ours only has the basic satnav centre screen. Cheers for video though

I wonder you mention the Apple Carplay full screen, was this an upgrade of the HU or just an activation on the pre-existing one?
CarPlay was an activation on my factory HU.

once the kombi has been encoded and is working, can I reset the assigned value Change Zeitkriterium=0320 to the value prior to encoding?

Hey Troy, Did you Mini come with this current (newer) system for the center console/multimidia or did you also update/retrofit it? I have a 2017 F56 and I have the older system still
That all came standard. The only update I did to the headunit was coding to get fullscreen CarPlay.

Fullscreen CarPlay is all coding and flashing. Check out the NAM forum - there's a LONG thread and folks who will do it for you remotely - for a fee.
Im on South Africa and would like to do this remotely because Im scared of touvhing anything. please help.

It's all common items, nothing country specific. You will need an ENET cable (I found mine on eBay), and ESYS and ESYS Launcher Pro software to code (you can find guidance to download those on nearly any BMW/MINI forum).

It's an absolute treat. It's just easier to consume everything visually in one quick glance than with the analog gauges.

If you have a similar analog cluster, it very well might. Best thing you can do is loosen the two screws and see if you have similar cable connections on the back.
@@KindaCoolDad removed the analog cluster and had a look and there’s only one connection. Guess that means no digital cluster upgrade!!
@@trevorkiely9332 yes you can do i have clubman 2017 with digital cluster ... you need only most cable...if your HU has most connection you can do upgrade
noooo why did you upgrade to the new digital one? i drove a few mini's with that and it's soo blurry, really doesn't match the BMW ones, or did they upgrade that? is it sharper now? that's one thing that really annoys me. i really prefer the analog one.

I flashed the headunit to get fullscreen CarPlay. That was a separate action from what I discuss in this video.

Gotcha. Flashing the headunit for CarPlay is a more complicated, advanced coding process.
Looks nice, but I'm partial to analog needles. I dislike all the screens that tend to cause night blindness by over inundating the drive with light. I can't drive with a cluster near full brightness and have my set at the 50% mark. In fact, none of my electronic devices are set to full bright...maybe 75%. But at night I turn them down to 25% or less...
It definitely boils down to preference. The screen technology used in the cluster seems very similar to the transreflective screens on Garmin watches. You can also control the brightness using the dimmer dial.
I live in Peru, but at least 3 months a year I spend in Montreal or Toronto driving a MINI Countryman… I understand what you feel like with the analog needles but actually the orange in the analog is quite bright at night even when dimmed… last 2 trips I have driven a MINI Countryman S with the Digital Panel… and it is actually quite good, not blinding at all…. Now, until you get used to it, it replaces the feel of the MINI… Now I am back home, and I have bought a semi new MINI F60 2020 and I don’t like the analog display anymore Grrr… where can I buy this unit? And I also need the 8.8 head unit for an upgrade… I have Harman Kardon and full NAV but there were ZERO semi new cars available from 2021… Thanks

My F60 has no navigation, it has no carplay or HUD, the head unit also does not have MOST feature.Is it possible for me to upgrade to this beauty?.My HeadUnit is a Basic EnaVevo and the speedometer has only 1 plug at the behind.

Are these screens fuel specific? I would like to install on my F56 Mini Cooper Diesel 2015 but not sure if it will work.
Fuel type should not matter. After all, the first car the digital clusters were used on was the electric Mini. The instrument cluster simply displays information, regardless if it's digital or analog. Programming with coding for this install simply tells your car what kind of display you have.
they are fuel specific. diesel should be 62105A189D0

Where are you plugging in the laptop? Is it plugs not the cluster or the car
I'm using an ENET cable that plugs into the OBD II port in the car. That allows you to use the ESYS software to code and flash your car.

Sorry if I don’t write well in English. Have you managed to make only the KM/H appear on the display? I don't like to watch KM/H and MPH at the same time. Thanks
Depending on your vehicle's default region, it can definitely show only KM/H. My MINI is a US vehicle, so that's why it's showing both when I switch the system to show KM/H.
But this feature is just a quirk of the new digital gauge. On my analog gauges, it would only show one at a time.

I added the GP logo a few days later. The link in the video description explains how to add the different logos.

did you have any issues cause my Kombi did not line up with he original screw holes. seems like the older one sits higher than the new one. Can anyone help.

I didn't produce a video of that. It consists of about an hour of flashing the head unit, then installing the fullscreen CarPlay coding. More info can be found at the NAM forum (North American Motoring).

Hi Troy, the guide on the forum does not cover all situations… some cars have no HUD. So they will not see the kombi directly…that requires way more steps. And you need to disable update msm vcm to make sure the changes like the new date will not be written to the car. Just warn people before posting esys tutorials. With esys you can potentially brick the car if you do not know what you are doing.
Ooh by the way if you code the HU with 6wb you will see the new virtual dash animations on the hu. And you can code navigation on the kombi and logo….to be able to see the new animations on the hu it needs to be updated to 2021-03 istep. And it needs to be id5. And you dont need to pull the battery out
