Nice video on the infotainment upgrade. However, you left out the fact that you have to completely change the vents and trim pieces for this to work properly. On one part of the video you have carbon fiber trim then the next you have gloss black trim. Also the vents are different from the ones that you took off to get the head unit in. Are you going to make a video on the trim piece swap?
Thank you! I pointed out at one part that if you want to keep the current vents and trim you have to trim the side of the new screen.
I will be doing a video though in the next few weeks on upgrading the trim though!

Where do you find the USBc port?
Ebay is normally the best place. Sometimes if it does not work, you may have to get a faster usb wire as well

@@carcreationsyt Wow - is this from where you sourced your upgrade or OE too? I guess I'll have to see on my wife's 2023 F54 - that was one thing keeping me from going Mini earlier (I gave in last year and ordered a F54 JCW).
No you cant get android mirroring working on your wifes 2023 F54 because that one is equipped with an EntryEvo which does not support Android Mirroring

I got a unit that was pulled from a F60 and has ID6. The unit does not have a OABR port like my old system, do you happen to know the rewiring that needs to be done for this so I can have this flashed?
Hmm sounds like maybe it is an entrynav2 system. You would have to code it on the car

Good. Next convert the handbreak to electric , change n code the steering wheel, and change the gear shifter to the electronic one.
Thanks!! Steering wheel is done except for the airbag. I am not sure about the electric hand break and gear shifter though. I could do the hand break but I kind of like the manual one. Unfortunately I cant change the gear shifter as it needs a whole different trans. Who knows though, maybe I have a trans and engine swap in the future!
9:48 your screen is glitching with the black square too. Did you manage to solve this?
It did it for the first little bit but once I used it a bit, doesn’t do it as much anymore.
I saw it happening on a new mini so I think it’s normal
@@carcreationsyt yea it appears to be an NBT EVO quirk, because the EntryNav doesn't glitch at all. 😂 I still think NBT EVO is the better choice tho.

It depends on if you currently have a screen. If you do, a CarPlay box is super good. If not, you have to upgrade to a screen and it isn’t as good with integrating with the mini systems.

Don’t worry! It does not rely on it that much, you won’t notice a difference.

Would you have any idea why the radio does not show the screen settings (ambient lights) on the android radio? Mini cooper f56 2015
Good question! The system I installed lets you, however you mention android radio so it sounds like you dont have the oem system I installed here. I dont think you can change a lot of the car's functionality with an aftermarket android system.

Yeah it works with the heads up display, no issues at all!

the car from the beginning of the video is different, you showed up an old instrument panel and at the end there is a new one.
It is the same car, we just filmed a couple of videos the same time and that was one of the upgrades.

Interesting video. How about upgrading to Harman Kardon sound system from the standard one ? Is it even possible ? At least you need to add the tweeters to the A-Pillars
We did a alpha 1 upgrade video where we added the a pillar tweeters however a hk system would be a cool upgrade. May have to try that

If by digital display you mean the digital cluster then yes absolutely! Only want to clarify as some people want to install the touchscreen at a later point and don’t want to mix the two up

It will also have the old or small infotainment system and i searched the web for the system you built into your car but only found some offers on ebay which look good but i'm not sure if i can trust the dealers really. Well done! is there a missing step with the laptop setup?
The unit comes pre coded so you won’t have to code it at the end, I just plugged in the laptop to code some other stuff and code any missing features that may have been missed.
You wouldn’t need the laptop at the end unless something needs to be changed or fixed and that coding service is a part of the package.

Hello, I'm a new follower of yours on yt from Spain. I was looking to buy a used mini cooper s r56. And I'd like to install the touchscreen display and the digital cluster that you show on your videos. So I was wondering if you could give me any tip or piece of advice to do those modifications. My main concern is the head unit. I don't know if the car I'd buy would have the most circles to connect the cluster. So my questions are these: The entreteniment display comes with a new head unit? Or do I have to buy it apart? And if I have to buy it apart where do you recommend me to buy it. Thanks a lot for your videos because you answered a lot of previous questions I had. @@carcreationsyt can you confirm that 100%? because i found the cluster on aliexpress and the descripction says that it fits in the r56 car. And ther is an entreteinment system aswell on aliexpres that fits in the r56 car.
Can you connect a reverse camera to this system? if so, can you tell us how?
You can install the oem one, but it does require a module, lots of wiring, and coding.

Is there a Infotainment System Delete Kit? I do not want this added complication to my Automobile. The more bells and whistles there is in a Automobile. The more there is to Break. Reliability, Safety, Privacy and Power Consumption are all concerns I have with the Infotainment System. I do not want this in my Automobile. As it stands now for me. A Infotainment System = No Sale. My uncles car was a write off because the Infotainment System died. A option to opt out of the Infotainment System is needed in my opinion.
Any mini runs fine without the infotainment system.
You can pop it out, no errors, no written off car believe it or not, and car runs fine.

It worked on a different car but when we did it to this one, it didn’t work so trying to figure out the issue. I will update when we figure it out!

I have a pre-LCI 2018 F56 w/ HUD. I would like to do this upgrade + have a single (or dual if possible) powered USB-C ports. Question is, once installed, will the map direction from Apple CarPlay show up on the HUD like the factory system does now? This would be a big deal for me.

No unfortunately CarPlay does not interface with the car in anyway other than music and displaying the screen.
If you wanted it on your hud, you would need to continue using the oem mini navigation

Dude i have a same infotaiment system on my 2021 Countryman. But i dont have a navigation system. I want to know... Does my unit have a wifi port ? if it is my friend say you can unlock the carplay and android auto features.

Hi Ethan, nice video as always. I have a question somewhat related to this, hoping you can help me. I have the Pre LCI HU like the one you changed but with the big screen, and it comes with USB-A and Aux In too. Is it possible to change those to twin USB-A (like in the LCI 1) or even twin USB-C (I've seen some on the internet) without having to change the HU?

I have the "ugly" radio. I really want to have the touch screen and navigation system.
It would fit but would require a wire harness and a bunch of wire splicing. Not plug and play like mine.
