Artie had WAY too little screen time. Yes, he wasn't part of the original 101 Dalmatian stories but he is a perfect fit for this story. He's a bit of a "Roger from American Dad" type. Excentric, no morals, always in for trouble. The chemistry between this character and Cruella is just insane. They compliment each other's characters perfectly and this is the only kind of character that makes sense for Cruella to have as actual personal friend, especially in her descend into madness as Cruella takes over her life and more in the future while Estella continues to dissolve.

I watched Cruella with my brother recently, and when he first saw Artie, he asked me 'is he transgender?' (As in he thought Artie was a girl) I found it both horrifying and amusing that I had to explain to him that not all men dress traditionally masculine. (Especially not in the 70s)

Well, here's to hoping he's just trying to learn more and trusts you with questions that, may or may not, make him look or feel like an idiot. My husband and my mother ask me questions a lot, (like...wtf I didn't find out I was pan until my twenties and I'm in a heterosexual marriage and have no time to socialize with anyone and have to dedicate lots of time to managing an untreated ADHD and depression so most of the at home research I do before I'm exhausted for the day is for keeping myself healthy do I look like I know anything about the LGBTQ+ Community outside my own limited experience why do you think I'm a good resource? Guess I have to research even more now...) My mother always tries to be respectful but my husband started off a little snide. I answered his questions seriously despite his attitude and he slowly started becoming more respectful and genuinely concerned. My working hunch is he was just posturing bc he didn't want to look stupid so he pretended to pose rhetorical questions that he knew had actual answers he just didn't know...or know where to start looking...Guide him best you can.

This movie did female empowerment so well, and the art was captivating. I came out of this movie feeling things I've never felt before in the cinema and I also inspiration to dress better.

That’s hilarious! He has the same name as my grandfather! Though he also went by Grandpa Art or Arturo. May he Rest In Peace, Gramps died in 1993 when I was a baby, alcoholism due to severe PTSD from his time in service as a World War II veteran. He was a pretty eccentric and hilarious guy from what my dad tells me, he was apparently even bilingual, according to my old man, grandpa spoke Spanish quite fluently.

ok like this is just a head canon but i personally feel like artie is pan, coming from a pan person, he shows a lot that he just loves to live life and doesnt care, therefore i dont see him caring what gender his partner is, he’ll just love their personality like how he loves cruellas/estellas (romantically or not)

Yeah. I get why people label him as “gay”, but I don’t feel like that quite fits with him. His chemistry with Estella, while definitely contained a “just friends” vibe, there was a tension that suggested they could have gone further in a moment of pure fun and frenzy. I’ll also admit, I’m a little bit biased, since it’s canon that Cruella had a husband in the original book (though unnamed), and I felt like Artie was perfect for the role.
this video really shows that he only got around 5 mins screentime.. i really wish they turned artie and cruella into one of those iconic, fashionable criminal duos.
