I really like this song, it's a stark contrast to the usually dark Russian war songs
Yes, I posted this comment on the original upload, I just reposted it on the new upload
It should be he's going home
its very upbeat, but with dark undertones
Yeah bro I feel Russians just know the right beat to make you feel the struggle of these men like Americans can’t get that feel really (at least I’ve never heard a good one)
For real
My great-great-grandfather served as a soldier in the Imperial Russian Army for 25 years. He walked for six months to the place of military service in Tashkent, and returned by train. By that time, the railway was built. He lived to a ripe old age, raised his grandson. His son, my great-grandfather, died in Africa. Fought in the expeditionary force for France. His grandson, my grandfather, fought against Japan on Lake Hasan. Was awarded the medal "For Bravery". He fought against Germany. In 1941 he was captured. He returned home in 1945. Grandmother did not know about his fate from 1941 to 1945.
Awesome story man!
@@ybohsaht2114 This is the real story of my family through my mother. My great-great-grandfather, my great-grandfather and my grandfather. Great-grandfather - a participant in World War I, grandfather - a participant in the battles against Japan in an incident on Lake Hasan and a participant in World War II. My wife's story is even more interesting. There were both a staff officer and a long-range aviation navigator.
@@antipendos7243 Damn, you're lucky bro.
My family history is almost non existent. I know noone farther from my great grandfather from my moms side. And onlything I know about him is that he was killed by a horse. And grandfather from my dads side was a drunk looming man, I mean my dad saw him 5-6 times in his life and he (grandfather) never came to see me. Even if there was some history behind my family my... well family wouldnt tell me about it because they don't like returning to past due to recent wars and horrors seen in it.
As a German who's relatives fought against soviet Russia, I'm glad your grandfather survived and managed to go back home
My great grandpa was a prisoner of war too, just from the other side. The fate was similar, he was gone 6 years longer though. When he came back from Siberia he had nothing. his wife had been told he was dead and had moved on, his parents had already finished the grief. from what I heard, he went and built himself a whole new life and died aged 97 as a very happy and lively man.
Songs like this make me realize that, no matter what side of the war, there are men who are fighting not just for their country, but for their families and for themselves. Love from the US
Remember: Every defensive war is legitimate.
Behind every rifle is a man who just wants to make it back home to hug his mother and kiss his sweetheart

@@krieger8825 Yea, no. Absolutely wrong.
What Nazi soldiers defends on Soviet SOILS (Lands)? (...but for their families and for themselves) - Murdered people for race, it is FIGHT FOR FAMILIES?
The thing that i noticed is that most of the songs curse the war and are depresive, this one sounds like the good ending "Im going back home" and sounds pretty happy.
In a way it’s still cursing the war, but the curse has been lifted and the soldiers no longer have to fear for their lives
That's because the russian people have known hardship for the majourity of their lives. Every generation has lived through one conflict that Russia has fought in, latest one being Ukraine. Russians don't care much for war anymore, they just want peace.
As I see it, this song is not about the war itself, its about regular obligatory service, it used to be 2 years back in the day, which is pretty long
why wouldn't it be happy, they killed tens of thousands of civilians in the chechen wars and raised Grozny into dust, then occupied the whole Chechnya, of course they are happy, they are coming home to drink vodka, beat their wives and boast about their heroics
@@VoltageLP looks like Russians really offended you poor boy
Под рельсами можно иметь ввиду не только железнодорожные рельсы, но и сержантские лычки, выглядящие как две стрелки вверх, напоминающие железнодорожный путь если смотреть с кабины машиниста.
So much soul in these songs. I think this is my favorite. I had heard "Don't Tell Mom I'm in Afghan" years ago but never knew the lyrics til today. I've been watching all these and listening to Russian folk music on this other channel that does like collaborations with tons of musicians all in one music video.
There is good music in my country but most of what we get is just made for money. This is a nice look at Russian culture beyond all the politics and tropes we get about vodka and all the tired jokes. Thanks! I've subbed

The great tragedy and failure of the 90s is that america did nothing to stop the rise and looting of the Russian oligarchs. Had something been done, along with a halt in NATO expansion at the time, it is likely Russia would be a very different country. Putin may have simply retired, and we would not know of him.
@@nnass262 The sooner Rusians liberate themselves from putler the sooner the world will be better
The good ending: after 2 years of fighting behind God's back you finally get sent home for good and in a train instead of a zinc coffin. Your girlfriend has stayed faithful, your mother has missed you, your battle-brothers are dead but there you stand, as the doors of the train heading home open for you one last time. For the first time in ages, you feel happy as the sun shines on your face. Its over.

This fairly well describes how Russians view war. It's hell, there's nothing glorious about it. It's lying in the dirt scared shitless for months on end until something happens, and you either die, or the battle ends and you go to fight somewhere else. The only time to celebrate is when you go home
