I chose to not mention those things. Kept the video short :) Also - 4:34 I meant to say HOSTILE TAKEOVER, not just TAKEOVER... ... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Honestly it's a shame that hostile takeover was cancelled. It would have been cool to see the black mesa incident in the perspective of a person who isn't even in black mesa but is still experiencing the effects of the disaster.
The Lambda Team, the same team behind Black Mesa Classic, plans to develop a remake of Hostile Takeover after they finish Black Mesa Classic. I've been working on the story. I've taken quite a few liberties with the story while also keeping the core themes present in the original Hostile Takeover.
Cool how since the TFC team is canon in the TF2 comics, if Hostile Takeover had released, it would make a connected universe between Half-Life, Team Fortress, and Portal. The Valveverse? Gabenverse?
Yknow, i rather keep tf2 away from TFC and Half Life. I want to see TFC battles happen with the combine or even on combine claimed land for red and blue battles. I would die for that kind of stuff to be released
If it was, Tf2 Will Be Some like Attacking Combine Outpost/base and Defend the captured bases. All Caracters will use Some of Combine Tech and they Will Expanding it by their Settlement which is located in Wasteland
10:05 EA was hired by valve to make expansion for half life 2 (like oposing force and blue shift for half life 1) similar to arkane studios. This project ended development for same reason like return to ravenholm. Fun fact: EA and arkane studios wasn't the only companies hired to make expanisons. Gearbox and many more also had thier projects but none of them ever ended development. These concept art's are probably for this expansion.
I feel that it is important to mention that Hostile Takeover has been picked up yet again by another studio known as the Lambda Team. While the team is focused on Black Mesa Classic at the moment, I've been writing the story for Hostile Takeover, and I've got something very interesting planned.
9:06 - the armband. What is interesting is that 17 is clearly out of place, pasted on top later, while C is painted as part of the concept art. This might suggest that it was different city originally, but they changed the number to C17 later.
I mean, EA doesn't make bad games, they're just greedy. And basing on that the concept arts were released in 2011, that was before EA have been corrupted to the core. That could have been a good game.
Honestly I'd love to see more half-life games that don't follow Gordon or anyone close to him. There's so much about the universe that could be explored and expanded upon.
I guess the weird thing about Hostile Takeover to me is that the "new location" still just sounds like another Black Mesa. It's another facility hidden from the public eye, teleporting it's staff to Xen, and the military come in with hostile intentions. So just set it at Black Mesa then? If you're going to do a different location, then give it it's own DNA.
my personal theory is perhaps it would continue the story of Adrian waking up from stasis as a combine soldier/officer, still remembering who they are and what they have witnessed.
Thanks for the video Radhaz! Your really good at these videos I hope you can keep on making them because I know right now everybody is busy, but we will all be patient in the meantime!
I feel like the EA concept art was for a prequel pitch. They were publishing the Orange Box at the time. Perhaps this was rejected & later morphed into the unreleased episodes by Junction Point or Arkane Studios. Sorta like how Portal 2 evolved from F-Stop, that Portal prequel without portals that featured Cave Johnson who was still alive.
10:20 It was most likely as you were saying a sales pitch by EA to make a half-life game because EA tried to buy valve at one point. so it may have been to show what they would do with the game?
8:45 Or they were thinking of redesigning stuff for the sake of it, which makes me pretty glad it never happened, I ain't a fan of drastic art direction changes with little explanation (FEAR 1 to FEAR 2 as one example)
I have a theory on 9:17 , what if that was like a grunt faction, an independent group that isn’t with the combine nor resistance. What purpose they would serve is unknown. My second theory is with the metro cop, if you look at the helmet it kinda gives you vibes from Half life 1 security guards, this could be a division of former black Mesa employees working for the combine now. It kinda makes sense and I see breen appointing them to their own divisions as they once worked for him. Not only that orange is a common color in black Mesa so I can see that as their official color. Third theory is that the metro cop is Barney in his own suit.
2:07 So you're telling me, in an alternate timeline, TF and Half-Life are in the *same* universe? What would have been of TF2 itself, though? Fighting the Combine?
5th tip: the 2nd character in ea's project is going to be adrian sheperd that was stuck in g man's some sort of portal dimension and managed to get out of there so then adrian was going to be the main character in ea's project
I started writing a script for hostile takeover in the form of a sfm film. Only write everything leading up to the disaster then I realized what a pain it would be to make all new assets for it.
Who knows what valve or someone would do to Shephard in the future? Maybe he could appear in the third game as a boss battle against the freeman himself?!
3rd tip: the 2nd character in ea's project is adrian sheperd from half life opoosing force that adrian successfully escaped out of black mesa and found him self in the seven hour war and then that's how adrian was going to be seen in ea's project
For EA's Half Life charcater photos What if the metrocop was actualy Barney in his first appearance, just with the beta concept? If the second "combine" was Adrian, maybe EA was going to create a coop Half Life? (if there is some errors, i'm not english lol) Great video btw, i was watching your videos lately and you gained a subscriber ;)
As for the Team Fortress crossover aspect of Hostile Takeover, the TF characters weren't probably TFC's but rather the unreleased Valve's Team Fortress/TF2 Brotherhood of Arms iteration of the characters.
I thought of this expansion for HL1 called "Red Shift". Where you would play as Gus (Forklift guy during Black Mesa Inbound) and be able to control those spider robots and kill enemies. I imagine some new weapons like a Walter or Remington. You would fight your way through BM and get knocked out at some point. When you wake up, the Ninilaothn is dead and some Xen and Race X are still around BM. The Vortiguants will begin helping the player and healing them when at low health. You only so much time before nuke detonates. You will fight Black Ops and at some point, escape Black Mesa in a stolen Black Ops truck with a Vortiguant. Just a cool idea I had, if anyone who reads this knows how to mod, think this would be really good. Just remember to credit me.
Great Idea! But it needs to be called Yellow-Shift (The color of his hat and forklift). Someone already came out with a series of unrelated "Red-Shift" mods that have been less than well received.
It would be a cool idea to make Adrian Shephard Returning on the Unknown Called Project of Half-Life 2, Although.... There is a Another cancelled game called "Half-Life 2 Episode 4" or "Half-Life 2: Return To Ravenholm", If I heard clearly, The main protagonist in the Another cancelled game would be, Adrian Shephard. Great video! I liked it a lot. For the EA part, most people forgot that Valve and EA were partners during the Orange Box era. Hell both companies unveil the Orange Box and EA did, YES EA DID THEMSELVES, the ps3 port of the Orange Box. But even though this game was never made, EA still got their name on a half-life game (PS3 port)... and that is the last thing I want to see. What I like to think it would have been was a console exclusive expansion or something, though the PS3 port sucked ass. But I think it would have been cool. Edit: Also my evidence for console exclusive? Well it wasn't the first time Valve did console exclusives: Decay, Blue Shift (originally at least), and Portal Still Alive. Portal Still Alive was for the Xbox 360 exclusively. But, there was nothing on the PS3. So who did the port? EA. That is what I like to think, for more content on PS3 like what the Xbox 360 did... I have spent too much time thinking about EA's Concept what THE FUCK AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE??!?! HELEL!p!-
@@Web720 No he didn't. In fact Marc Laidlaw disproved it saying how nothing like an expansion would have happened between Valve and EA. Maybe they dreamed up of one, but Valve never saw it. While part of me thinks the idea of Half Life crossing over with Team Fortress Classic would have been awesome, the other part is glad they stayed away from this idea. It would either mean TF2 being more serious and inline with the tone of the original TFC and the mercs we know and love today never have existing, or the goofiness of TF2 being canon to Half Life, which would make the story harder to take seriously knowing that out in the world are a bunch of idiots wearing goofy hats fighting over gravel and magical Australia gold with wizards and sentient eyeballs running around the place.
Hey, the last cancelled Half-Life game is actually "Half-Life 2: Episode Four" or "Return to Ravenholm" It was a cancelled project by Arkane Studios. I imagine that that concept art was made when that artist worked for Arkane but was just dumped on his page in 2011.

Damn, I knew two canceled games but I never heard of these. Always fun to learn about HL's history! Plus, the images that show the canal and damaged/decrepit buildings up to the CP's design; seems to be like as if the combine were just starting their reign after the seven hour war. (I do know it's concept, but it really does look like it just started). The uniform on the one character with a small vest, is the HECU or is similar to their uniforms. So I'd speculate it probably was a more "Opposing Force 2" kind of idea. Which I still think an Opposing Force 2 idea would be fun to play as if done correctly.
About Hostile Takeover and the "Junior Gman". Maybe you would play as someone who either replaces G-man, or gets a position equivalent to his?. G-man is not his own boss. He himself says he have "employers"
I guess the closest thing we got to a third Half Life expansion was Decay I hope that one day we get Hostile Takeover leaked along with Arkhane studios Episode 4
another tip: the 2nd character in ea's project was an old H.E.C.U soldier from black mesa with a different mask and uniform also this H.E.C.U soldier desgin would have been used in hostile takeover and they main character for both hostile takeover and EA's project
