I bought a packet of thin cotton gloves to use when I'm handling the infusible ink paper. I wanted to make sure my hands were not coming in contact with the paper and possibly dulling any part of it. With the cost of the infusible ink not being inexpensive, it's worth it to take that extra step to protect it. Thanks for the tip. I have several cotton ball caps I didn't trust HTV alone to hold up on.
They have sticky sublimation paper. It works wonders. I was having issues with ghosting no matter how much tape I was using. This has saved me. Thanks for your tips.
When doing a t-shirt or bag or anything that is double thickness you need a paper between layers or you could end up with your print going all the way through to the other layer. Yes it will print on to cotton. It will fade out over time if printed straight on cotton.
I am going to try this. I haven't worked with glitter or infusible ink. I am going to buy that infusible ink from Cricut. I too love Butterflies, Thank you!
It is so fun to work with. I do have a video up on that. Check my playlist it should be in there. I believe I made an axolotl coaster for my son. But for sure I can do another one. I love working with Infusible ink! Thanks for watching!
Oh my gosh! When did Cricut start doing this? I’ve had my Explore Air for a really long time and have only done a couple of things with it. I’ve just barely decided to start looking for ways to make some extra money. I have a lot of the tools but I absolutely love the look of the infused ink. I’ve just subscribed to your channel and will watch more of your videos. ❤️
Hi Barbara. If you do decide to start making stuff with your cricut to sell be sure to do a lot of research what other people are selling (in your area or etsy) wherever you decide to sell. I started my business just over a year ago. I thought I did my research but once I launched I noticed a lot of other business selling similar products as me lol. So I had to quickly adapt and come up with unique designs to stand out.
Great question. This is a great way to have a design added, or if you have a sublimation printer, you can add a personal photo. If you wanted an over all design with vinyl you would have to do a lot if layers, which is not recommended. I hope that was helpful.
Using white HTV will not work. Infusible ink needs a polyester coating to infuse to. Glitter vinyl has the polyester coating that is needed for the infusible ink. Thank you for watching!
Great question! White glitter vinyl needs to be used, because it has polyester in it. They do make other vinyl specifically for sublimation it's called Easy Subli I'm going to look into ordering that so I can try it out for you guys. Thanks for watching!
This is a really cool idea. I have a couple Infusible ink rolls I haven’t known what to do with. Do these wash okay like if you throw them in inside out?
If applied correctly the vinyl should last for years with regular washing. I have glitter vinyl shirts that are 5 to 6 years old and they still look new. I wash them inside out and use a regular drying cycle. I hope this is helpful.
You could make a stencil and use fabric paint. I would recommend doing multiple thin coats. It may not result in absolute smoothness, but I believe that would get you the closest results.
Sorry if this was already ask or I missed in the video, but does the glitter pull thru the ink? Making a shirt for my son and he definitely wouldn't like a glitter look. Also curious what's your POV since you have to use the glitter htv first before infusible ink transfer for cotton, why not just use all htv at that point? What's the advantage? Thanks in advance and appreciate the videos!!!
These are all really great questions. The glitter is visible. You could use glow in the dark vinyl and sublimate/infusible ink over it. The reason some use a sublimateable base is if they want to sublimate on a cotton shirt. For instance, if you want a sublimated photo on a cotton shirt you need a high polyester count base to sublimate on. Sublimation/infusible ink is great for patterns and specific pictures you want on a project. If you just want to make a design ,yes, vinyl would be perfect. I hope this helps. If you have any more questions please reach out. Thank you so much for watching!
Unfortunately you can not use Infusible ink to make a photo. I apologize if I made it sound like you could. However what you can do is use a sublimation printer, with sublimation ink and print out a photo and pressing it with the same method. I hope that explained it better.
I do not have a Maker. However if it's like other machines, when it's time to choose your material scroll through and find infusible ink. I hope this helped. Thank you for watching!
You need the high polyester count for the infusible in order for the chemical reaction to take place. So , no regular white vinyl would not work. Hope this helps.
I tried applying a design on infusible ink on a Gildan 100% cotton shirt, and it did not transfer. I had it on the correct sides and all. What happened? Does infusible ink never transfer on that material and I have to use iron on instead? Thank you for your fantastic channel and advice
Infusible ink needs a high polyester count material to transfer to. Got a cotton shirt you need to apply a base for it to go on. White Glitter iron on has the high polyester count needed to receive and hold the infusible ink. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching and please if you have any other questions do not hesitate to ask!
No, the heat and pressure needed to apply the Infusible ink would cause the htv to adhere to whatever you were pressing it on. Because you would need to remove the carrier sheet it's attached to. Does that make sense? I hope I explained that clearly.
Yes, because you are using the glitter htv as the base for the Infusible ink it feels exactly like a shirt with glitter htv feels. Thanks so much for watching.
Great question. Infusible ink will not infuse into cotton fabric. You need that layer or polyester for the Infusible ink to infuse into. I hope that makes sense! Thank you for watching.
It only works with vinyl that is polyester. Such as glitter iron on, glow in the dark iron on, and some clear htv. It does not work with regular iron on.
Hi, you can not use white viny instead of glitter vinyl. TO sublimate or use Infusible ink you must have a base that has a high polyester count. Glitter vinyl has a high polyester count. White vinyl does not.
@@crafterssupport OH okay that makes sense. Thanks for the clarification. I am learning all this and trying to try this for xmas. Gotta go get white glitter vynl iron on now. LOL. THANKS!!!!!!

thank you for this interesting video but what I couldn't catch is why the regular iron on underneath? Won't it prevent the infusible ink to go into the fabric or is that the idea and the vinyl will hold it? Thank you!
Great question. Infusible ink will only infuse onto items with a high polyester count. Since the material here is 100% cotton we had to put the glitter vinyl down (glitter vinyl has a high polyester count) The Infusible ink will infuse onto the glitter vinyl. I hope that makes sense. A lot of people do not like the feel of polyester, but want to be able to use sublimation/infusible ink. So this is an alternative. Thank you so much for watching!
@@crafterssupport thank you for the prompt response. As a matter if fact, as soon as I finished watching your video I tried the technique, only that I didn’t notice your recommendation on glitter so I worked on regular white iron on and to my dismay the result was a dull image, not bright at all. I guess I discovered infusable pastels, ha ha. Will keep trying, thank you! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Why does my infusible ink always wash out the first time I wash it??? Doesn’t matter how long I wait to wash it the pattern always washes out and I am using cricut infusible ink 🤷♀️🤷♀️
Do you know the other 40%? 60% polyester cotton should be good. But if it's anything else, I'm not sure of the outcome. I'm sorry I can't be more help on this.
Correct, infusible ink needs the polyester base to infuse into. This is one of a few options you have to use Infusible ink on cotton. It works perfectly and gives you the option to do sublimation on as well. Thank you for watching.

Yes Infusible ink is permanent! Wash as you would with htv.
Hello, in relation to this question any chances on the vinyl coming off after wash?
If applied correctly the vinyl should last for years with regular washing. I have glitter vinyl shirts that are 5 to 6 years old and they still look new. I wash them inside out and use a regular drying cycle. I hope this is helpful.
I want to use ink to avoid vinyl cracking/peeling but have towels that are 100% cotton. Is there a way without vinyl & infusible ink

Could we infuse the glitter vinyl before we cut it, then apply to the material just once?
