@@mayxdrew4lifefosho If you don't already have Transporter downloaded, you will need to pay for Bank before next March. Once the eShop goes down, Transporter will no longer be downloadable, and before that, you must have a subscription to be able to download it.

Woah, the contest paintings set the seed value? That's so cool! I used to be big into RNG manip for Emerald over a decade ago, when that wasn't known. This is the first I've heard of it.
On Eon timer you can go into settings change the beeps down to 4 and make them a little further apart. It'll make it more like a 3-2-1-GO countdown which makes the last press a little easier in my limited experience. The 6-count is just a little strange by default.

@@AMidgetWalrus no can do. The repro cards normally got the save deleted when you try to use palpark. The best solution is use a ezflash omega definitive edition

@@juniorbarranqueiro In my experience, a repro Emerald cart I accidentally purchased off eBay couldn't even be *detected* by other Pokémon games. No trades between it and my authentic Sapphire, no Pal Park, couldn't connect to Colo or XD on the GameCube either.
This is the most random yet perfectly made for me video. I own every single mainline game and I've been wanting to start from the beginning (In this case I mean gen 3) and beat all the BattleTower-like things in each game and get ribbons because I never did it growing up.
But finding the info for all the training is so scarce now. It may have been easily accessible back then but now its just burried under mountains of current stuff despite trying to be specific on google. Thank you so much for making this. Gonna start emerald soon!
Love to see people excited about picking up Gen 3. It's crazy how the game is 20 years old, and most have never come close to beating the Frontier.
My god Emerald's RNG abuse has evolved a LOT since back in the day. If I still had a secondary cart I'd prob do some myself after seeing this, but my 100% save file isn't getting reset over it.
If you have an R4 you can use that to back up/restore the save on your cartridge

Essentially this is the future of card collecting. The intricacy used to be card breaks, now its rng and code manipulation which is FASCINATING. This is gonna be huge in the future

Why "even", Emerald and generally Gen 3 are by far the hardest ones to get competetive battling Pokémon. The newer the generation, the easier it gets. Sword and Shield are by far the easiest to get competetive Pokémon. Basic knowledge.
@@Saroku1000 The reason why I say "even emerald" is because dataminers and glitch hunters have been cracking the game for almost 20 years and achieved so many milestones, allowing players to pull off insane feats like in the video. Although Gamefreak has added new mechanics to get competitive pokemon more easily, it still takes quite a long time to the point where many players still prefer rng manipulation over given tools. I also believe that there are certain important moves that pokemon can only learn from previous generations.
I wish they would put Pokémon Emerald on NSO. Maybe like they did with Celebi, they could make it so after we beat the game (or maybe the battle frontier), the prizes are an Eon Ticket, an Aurora Ticket, a Faraway Ticket, and a Mystic Ticket.

Because that would be giving out POKeMON that the VETERANS spent money and a massive amount of time to get, just for them to be handed to new players. Of course, the CELEBI event in VC Crystal using the GS BALL is an exception, because the GS BALL never made it to Western nations, including the United States of America.
Also, I used capital letters in nouns to reference the old games.
@@TheSoftwareNerd Mew would be an exception as would Deoxys in the US in Emerald. Mew was never released outside of Japan and Deoxys was never released in Emerald in the USA.
Also if Platinum gets a NSO release, Arceus would be fine since it was never released.

You actually have enough time to reach seed 528. That's because "528" is in hexadecimal. In decimal, that's 1320. That's ~13s more than you gave yourself in the video.

Literally the only thing preventing this from being possible for me is the fact that you have to pay to transfer pokemon from a now discontinued service, to newer hardware.
You could add a disclaimer that pokemon home will be free in a few months once the eshop closes down, but people will have to have the poketransfer and pokemon home apps already downloaded as they won't be able to get them from the store every again. Big fan of your content!

As cool as this is, I am left wondering why someone like me should bother with this over just using pkhex... Not saying anything thing against you with this. If you enjoy doing this then that is enough reason for you. Me on the other hand, all I see is just a way more complicated way of editing Pokemon. As Rick would say, this is just pkhex with more steps.
the problem is there’s always the thought that the mons in pk can be read as illegitimate. causing any player to get flagged, remember nintendos hack checker is getting constant updates, so soon this’ll be the only way to get a legit competitive mon, rng manipulation isn’t hacking its using the games seeds to your own advantage and will.

Select Button changes the hand to Yellow, and you can multi select.

I used to RNG "back in the day" with DP&P and BW. I remember doing BW and thinking "YO! THIS IS EASY!" lol. I never thought I could do Emerald,(no videos were available at the time, only the written instructions) and after watching this... I'm honestly glad I never tried. haha!

I wish I saw the use of paintings and battle videos before I settled for low frames. I spent the day practicing on kecleons... I'm officially ready to move on to some legendaries/mythics now. Hit my 6 IV ultra shiny modest in practice successfully.

Same thing happened to me. When I got into RNG we had no idea about any of these extra techniques. They are actually pretty recent discoveries.
So all frames are paused until you activate the battle video? Im a little lost as iv just started rng in sapphire and ruby but getting the static pokemon like starters and what have you, as i understand it the frames start as soon as you soft reset for example... does emerald not work like this at all? As i wanna start rng manipulations on emerald soon.
Battle Video (which only exists in Emerald) recreates the battle exactly by copying the games RNG state at the start of the battle. This ensures things like misses\crits etc... play out like the 1st time.
However, when you exit the battle video, it doesn't go back to where it was, it just continues.
So you can use to save your RNG, to shorten waits and use in other locations.

So for example if I choose the Pokémon I want on pokefinder and it is like in this video 100k frames away, when I boot up the game it's starting to count frames from 0?
and so I would need to wait for the frames to pass but waiting in the battle factory basically does 2 frames per second?
If I'm understanding correctly as iv rewatched the video again, when you save that battle video it's saving the seed as well as the frames passed since you booted up the game and then you use that as a save state to continue from each time you re watch the video?
Does it also continue from the exact same point after watching that battle video if you were to soft reset for example?
I'm gonna need to learn how to do the arbitrary code execution as well, as you have explained in the video it's to change your seed if I'm not mistaken. It kinda makes sense but I have no idea how that works..
@@James-fy4zc Yes, the frames advance from 0 as soon as the game boots. Soft resetting also resets it to 0.
And yes, the battle video saves the seed you were on and the # of advances that happened up until the battle started.

When you go back in a battle facility to save a video, does the RNG continue to advance during the fight before the video is saved? Or does the video only consider the seed that was used at the start of the fight? I feel like that could make it easy to pass over the seed we look for if the battle takes a long time (e.g. the ennemy doesn't try to kill your mons)
It uses RNG position when the battle started, so how long the battle takes doesn't matter.

Got to be careful when handling anything with Decamarks, as they can corrupt your data pretty easily depending on which variant you are hatching or encountering.
they won’t corrupt data unless you’re doing the news reporter glitch, won’t be impacting your actual save file so if you reset without saving you’ll be fine. Crashing won’t do anything

I feel like I just stumbled upon a channel that only hardcore pokemon fans can appreciate. It's fascinating watching you pull off these maneuvers, but they also look very complicated. I'm contemplating whether or not I wanna try doing these myself.
Slight correction, Hex is actually 0-5, or a numbering system that uses 6 symbols per digit. what you're referring to is actually Hexadecimal, 0-9, A-F, meaning 16 possible symbols per digit.
Hex isn't widely used, usually people will step up to Octal as 8 is a power of two, which is very good for computers, and the next power of 2 is 16, for hexadecimal. All that to say if you say Hex we know what you mean so def not a big deal, but Hex is technically its own numbering system, different from hexadecimal
I've never heard of Base 6 being called Hex. Its usually called senary (binary\quaternary) or seximal (octal\decimal). Hex has always been short for Hexadecimal.
@ after checking wikipedia, you're right but I'm not completely wrong. There is no numbering system called "hex" and hexadecimal is far more popular than base 6, but base 6 is also referred to as heximal.
My confusion is that hex always means just 6, (hexagon, hex nut, etc) not 16 so every time I hear someone say "hex" over hexadecimal my mind goes straight to 6 not 16.

Hey I've loved watching your content for a while now. Out of curiosity, how do you feel about ACE codes to get to a certain PRNG seed? E-Sh4rk has a code generator for this, and it honestly feels like it's making RNG in Emerald less worth while, although I get that some people don't like using ACE because it feels like hacking.
I've done both, I don't see a big issue with doing either. Personally I find the Battle Video + Painting method more interesting and fun, but using ACE is just effectively creating your own Battle Video instead of making one using the painting.

Hi! Awesome video, though I still have some questions, as I’m gonna use this to get a Flawless Shiny Latios on Southern Island.
I’m having a bit of trouble verifying what seed I hit using the method you did at 11:49. I have a few questions about setting up the Gen 3 Seed Assistant, since this is the first time I’ve used it:
1. Before you caught Wingull, the “Target Advances” fields show 150000 and 49999. But after catching it, they change to 1000 and 999, respectively. Why does it change? Is that something I have to manually change in order to check what seed I hit?
2. I noticed that in the “Enter Seeds” field, you have the seeds that come before and after the seed you want to hit. Does the Seed Assistant generate these automatically, or did you calculate them yourself?
Okay yeah so the "Target Advances" range was an estimate by me on how many frames have passed from the time it takes me to leave the painting and enter the grass.
The original numbers in the tool were for something earlier. 1000 +/- 999 is approximately how long it should take for that walk to the grass. For extra leniency 2000 +\- 1999 should also work.
As for the additional seeds, those need to be manually inputted but they are easy to figure out.
If target seed is 433F then the adjacent seeds are counting up and down in hex.
So before 433F is 433E, 433D, C, B, A, 9, 8....
and after 433F is 4340, 4341, 2, 3, 4, 5...
You want to give yourself 5-10 seeds before and after your target, depending on how confident you are at hitting a frame perfect input. Hope this helps!
@ Yeah that helps a lot, thanks! I understand the part about counting in hex now, but I still have some questions about the frames in the Target Advance section.
As for the Target Advances section, why are the frames only in the 1000s? You waited 17K frames before clicking on the painting; do the frames start counting all the way from 0 again when you click on the painting?
@ I have one more question regarding the seed assistant.
Sometimes, after catching a pokemon and putting its stats in the IV calculator to check what seed I hit, nothing loaded. Why does that happen?
For example, I caught a Female Shuppet with a Bashful Nature on Route 121. I made sure to load its IVs after using the IV calc and put its gender and location into the Filters section, then I hit Search. I even tried changing the Target Advances from 2000 +/- 1999 to 3000 +/- 2999, but still nothing loads.
Edit: So I think maybe I just had the program open for too long. I had it on since yesterday and just closed my laptop. I tried it on a different pokemon and got nothing, but when I closed and reopened it, it loaded the pokemon this time
Another update: I’m still running into the issue where it doesn’t load any results sometimes. Idk if there’s any correlation or just bad luck, but I seem to be getting this error a loy when I get Shuppet

Its... complicated.
So Bank is going free-to-use, but won't be downloadable anymore once the eShop closes. So if you plan on transferring Pokemon, you'll want to get Bank on your 3DS ASAP.
After that, the timeline is unknown. Theoretically they could make Bank -> HOME transfer happen through wireless, but we'll just have to see.
The BEST way to secure ability to transfer, is to obtain a CFW Switch & 3DS. Then you can move Pokemon between saves yourself.

I think it would be awesome to see how it's done on ruby and sapphire, mostly because the only gen 3 game I own is sapphire and emerald is way too expensive now for me to pick up a copy of ut
You can’t get the correct glitch egg with only sapphire, you should buy emerald if you want to do this
Ruby & Sapphire can't get the glitch mon, nor can you make battle videos to set a frame marker. This only works because Emerald's RNG is broken and the seed is 0 by default
Well yeah duh it’s easier but this is way cooler and the Pokémon is legit and from the game
so long as you have a dead battery and know your tid/sid you can do this, you just cant use the battle video and would have to do the wait for the painting and your target frame every time, if you want to do ACE in R/S you need emerald to set it up tho
If you’re using this method do you still have to account for the 261 frames of sweet scent delay, or does eon timer calibration automatically take care of that for you?
You should either account for it manually, or make one attempt with no adjustment, identify the frame you hit using IVs, and then plug that frame into Eontimer's update function to lock on the calibration.

So let’s say I’m trying to hit frame 4000 for my target. In order to get on the right seed for my target, I have to create and save a battle video. It takes more than 4000 frames to create a new battle video which means I’ll be past my target frame by the time I create it. Does this mean that any target that’s below the amount of frames it takes to create a battle video is unobtainable?
I was also wondering that. It makes sense for it to not be possible though since the frames also get saved by the battle video and you can't decrease them.
How are you live streaming your Nintendo ds?
So with the eshop shutting down is it no longer possible to go from Emerald to later games?
One other quick question. Around 11:35 in the gen3 seed assistant tab, you dont have anything in the "enter seeds" section and then the video cuts to where you have a series of numbers there. How do you get those numbers?
They are the adjacent seeds to the one im aiming for. They count up and down in hex.
So for example
if I was aiming for seed 00A5
00FF, 00A0, 00A1, 00A2, 00A3, 00A4,... 00A6, 00A7, 00A8, 00A9, 00AA...

2) Are there any other possible reasons for the game crashing when hatching dots? (I tried doing what you did and cleared any trash data in boxes and game still crashes)
Yes its a permanent change.
Either the code is wrong, DOTS is wrong, the game isn't legit, or the boxes are interfering. Those are the four sources of error.

Is there really a big difference between all this math jargon, and comparing it with a competitive Pokémon that has been hyper trained?
There's nothing wrong with hyper training, and I support any and all things that make getting competitive pokemon easier.
I just think its cooler to have one that's naturally competitive, and I also battle in older games sometimes where Caps aren't present.

Out of curiosity, why are you searching for 30-31 IVs instead of perfect 31? Surely at least one of your tools can find a frame that has five 31 IVs along with the other things you wanted.
It is for Hidden Power fire. All 31 IVs will get a different hidden power type.
For Hidden Power and there is a fair chance that stat calculation will not come out any different with 31 vs. 30. That makes searching for seeds easier, since your viable targets are just many more.

Yes! I'd recommend doing the one from Southern Island, as the Roamer is a pain in the ass. You can use the ACE glitches to unlock the island w\o hacking it in.
