Thank you for this video! Since college days I’ve tabbed anything I read and it has come in handy with my Bible. Oooo I’d love to see your study Bible. Sorry I’m a Bible nerd and love to see how others have their setups. 😂
I read somewhere that when you’re speaking or sharing, it is important for your audience to see you reading from a “real” Bible. The writer said when your audience sees you use the Bible, they begin to understand its value. I don’t know what Bible I consider my EDC. When I’m teaching, I like my NIV study Bible. When I’m listening to my pastor, I use and NLT Filament Bible. When I’m speaking at a school assembly, I use a large print NKJV.
Wow that's pretty interesting pastor these noted and plans and including others stuff you used are helpful keep up a good work in Christ and I like the ESV that One of my favorite version i. Used but i still used the KJV as well
Love this video! I also love how you added the bibke reading plan to the inside cover, I want to do that! I'm not a pastor, but I also love having a physical bible and want to use your tab idea for the verses I find helpful when I talk to my kids. I like to reference scripture when they are worried, scared, angry, jealous and the tabs would be super helpful! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks, I love your ideas. I generally carry and most often preach from a large print Holman hand size KJV Bible that I have added ministry helps. I often also carry a pocket NT that I can give to someone I have talked with.
I have the Topaz NASB2020 in brown calf split leather. It is really a beautiful Bible. I also have a Topaz NKJV in green goatskin and a Topaz ESV in blue goatskin. I prefer the calf split binding over the goatskin because it’s more firm and easier to hold open in one hand. I hope that Cambridge prints a Topaz CSB one of these days.
The tabs are genius. I’m going to adapt that idea to my ministry environment and personal verses too. I have a list of verses I want my 9 year old grandson to memorize too. He could do the same thing when he is ready. He needs to be able to pull up some verses to counter the secular culture that wants to sweep him down the river of the antichrist.
I agree, nothing like a Bible in your hand. I also love to see how worn down it gets with use. I am using the Cambridge Concord reference KJV Bible. I wish I would have written the year of purchase. It's over a few years old and I love it. Thank you for sharing your Bible reading materials.
I always enjoy seeing people's Bibles and learning how they use them. I am currently going through the ESV Chronological. I started in the NT because I was already way into the OT in my regular Bible and didn't want to start over. I finished the NT in the Chron., finished the OT in my regular, and now I am in the OT in the Chron, up to Job. I am trying to work toward having just one Bible. (What a, "problem", right? We are so spoiled!) Once I read through this Chronological, I am thinking of donating it. It's wonderful for understanding the big picture of God's Word and history. But it's not an everyday reading Bible because books and even portions of books are spread all over, according to chronological order. (As best they can figure. Obviously, it's not going to be perfect.) I've usually had a regular sized Bible and smaller portable one for church and on the go. Alas, between getting older and my glasses being old/scratched and not being able to afford new ones, I'm finding my ESV Compact 8 point is getting to be a strain on my eyes. It's sad, because I love that little Bible it's been with me for many years. I've also learned the wonder of black letter Bibles. I had never used one until very recently. I had no idea how much easier on my eyes they are than the red letter! My, "The One" would be: ESV Black letter 9 or 10 point Single column (another recent discovery) BOOK INTRODUCTIONS - please, publishers! And somehow not too big/bulky. But I think I have looked through every Bible out there and it just does not exist. My ESV Heritage is almost perfect. It's single column, black letter, I think 9.25 font. I could live without the book introductions. I just wish this one was a bit smaller/lighter. Ah, well. Again, a "problem" we have only because we are so overly blessed with choices.
I’m sure you’ve answered these questions - I’m sorry if that’s the case! What tabs do you use? I have my ESV Topaz arriving Monday, and love your setup. I also like how simple your underlining system is. I know yellow is for anything that sticks out in the moment and you might come back to later, but what are your other colors in your system? Love your videos!
@@joesbibles5636 yes sir I finally made a final decision. I was really struggling with a few things in the NLT that I just couldn’t understand as to why they were translated the way they were So I was dealing with the LSB, CSB and the ESV. I’ve tried the ESV in the past so I didn’t think I’d go with it because to me it can sometimes feel choppy I liked the CSB for it’s readability but something about it just pushed me away from it being my primary And then the LSB, I love it but it’s definitely not for the church I pastor So after much much thought I went to the ESV I’ll have the CSB, NIV, NLT whenever I don’t understand something but the ESV is perfect for me and for the church
I used to have in the back of my TCR: The Apostles' Creed, The Nicene Creed and The Lord's Prayer in Greek. Plus a list of my favorite Christian books.
I loved this video! What was the Speck tab for? I liked your tab idea! I also like having your Bible reading plan and the Nicene Creed. I am going to put creeds in mine now. Great idea.
@timstevenson9585 I don't use the NET or the NLT regularly but I refer to those translations regularly for sermon prep. The NLT is the translation I used for my first read-through of the Bible. I am reading the NET here and there and I like what I've read. I don't think it'll be a primary translation for me only because I love the ESV. Those are my thoughts. Thanks for the question.
@@joesbibles5636 Is there anything specifically regarding the NET Bible that you believe prevent most people from not preferring it as a main preaching or every day main Bible? I hear many pastors and scholars avoid the NET due to the translation itself but they never explain specifics. I have compared it with multiple other solid transition and many of them are word for word along side the NET.
@@joesbibles5636 Wonderfully. This is my third time through it and 1 Peter is one of my favorites. It has so much to say about how to live as strangers in a strange land.
I love it for preaching and teaching. Good size font. Bold print. Verse by verse format. But, I don't like it for daily reading. I prefer something smaller and in a paragraph format.
I understand what the ESV is, but what is Cambridge Topaz? Is that the publisher and color? Curious why you’re so intentional about that detail. Thanks for sharing, Pastor.
@davewilliams9558 Hi! Cambridge is the Bible publisher and they make high-end premium Bibles. The particular edition of this ESV is called "The Topaz" and it's a verse-by-verse format as opposed to a paragraph format. Hope this was helpful.
I was useing King James but then i switched to ESV but my next Bible will be a Amplified Bible. Oh and I am a paper person so i care the Bible in my hands.
