Been following your channel for a hot minute and I absolutely love your videos. I went to University for a little while about 10 years ago to be a preacher and then I ghosted Jesus unfortunately, but in the last year I've been startin from scratch and you have 100% helped inspire, motivate and encourage me to do so. Your personality feels like kindred to mine, not to mention your preachin heart is the same brand of humor as mine. Thank you so much for your videos. I like to save them back for Saturday mornings and binge watch while I eat my oatmeal. Lol. This one is especially helpful because I'm in the middle of my notetaking and marking up Bible endeavor and I struggle a lot finding pens and markers that aren't just bleed free but also comfortable enough (two very different things, I've learned)
I had the exact same experience! I ghosted Jesus for about 30 years and then came back to my senses. Honestly, I never really knew what I believed or why. For example, I went to a Presbyterian church as a child and never knew how whacked they are. (Hope you're not Presbyterian, but if you are, I jest 😉) I started from scratch, as well. I read through the whole Bible for the first time in 2021-23. I read the books in a roughly chronological order. I also followed along with the scholar-led classes on Ted Hildebrandt Biblical e-learning channel on you-tube. Also, Naked Bible podcast and anything I could find by Dr. Michael Heiser. AND our beloved Brother Mayfield. ☺️ Welcome back and take care.
Hey, Jason! Like your stuff! I never wrote a lot in my Bible. Usually would highlight with yellow, use check marks, etc., and very brief notes. Then I started watching Bible reviews on UA-cam, then Bible marking systems, etc., and I was hooked. That was about 3 years ago. I gleaned a lot from various sites, but yours and Chad Brooks' appealed to me most. Yours because of all the extras - pens, highlighters, tabs, etc. You're also about as nutty as they come, and I get a good laugh every time I watch you. Chad's because of his marking system. I had started using his system as the foundation for my own (which I'm still using BTW), and was surprised to see you had turned to him to redevelop your own system - which was pure chaos before he tamed you! 😉 Just wanted you to know what a positive influence you've been on me. I used an ESV wide margin when I first started, but have decided that I prefer journaling Bibles, since I can write more in them. And it's neater since they have lined margins. Well, that's it! Thanks for being you! Blessings!
Ditto! On UA-cam you've got all sorts of video link choices to make until one is labeled as a Jason Mayfield one - There isn't a decision to ponder unless there is more than one "Jason Mayfield link" - we enjoy them all. 🙂
I use Frixion pens & highlighters. They erase in case you flub up. Not bad to bleed either. My husband is going to thank you for me buying more pens, lol
I do not use pens when I write in my Bible. I use a graphite pencil for the notes and for highlighting I use erasable colored pencils, so when I mark the wrong verse or go too far I can easily erase the color with a white eraser. Leaves no color behind, and does not bled through to the other side. Plus it is gentle on the thin paper that is used in Bibles. If you want more than the standard 24 count you can find in stores. Order online the 50 ct. Crayola Erasable Colored Pencil set.
1st video I have seen of yours. Good one :) Would it be okay if you did a video to show the hiliters on paper please? I was hoping for that. I have so many I am trying to not get more unless either I can sample them or if I see an example from someone else. If you have a chance anytime soon to even just do a short video to show that, I would be glad to check back a couple times here and there to see if you have a vid for it. Or you could reply here as to whether you will do one. Thanks alot. God bless you. Jesus is Lord and King.
I have to check out that paper and clear sticky notes! I love taking my notes and adding it to my Bible later. Right now I'm using the Moleskine Volant Journals. They're paperback, pocket size journals with thin paper that are made to easily tear out and I just stick them in my Bible with a little washi tape or loose leaf.
No crAyons, or as I call them, crowns ?…lol. I have hundreds of pens to donate to some needy children this Christmas. All in the fine name of Jason Mayfield! 😂👍🙏🏻🥁
Here's an idea. Don't use pens. Use a pencil. Some Bibles are so marked up with colors it becomes meaningless. Or less meaningful, anyway. If everything is special, nothing is special.
Did this guy really imply that marking the Bible with color makes it less meaningful? Bruh. That’s next level nonsense. Imagine markers being the downfall of the word of God.
I think there’s a balance on when/ how to mark up bibles and whatever works for the person to understand the word. For instance, I realized the inductive study method isn’t for me due to the different markings and colors. It took away from me understanding what I was reading when I was too focused on how to mark a passage. It seemed like I was learning grammar again.
Year 4 Tearing it Up! 💥 #istilldontcolorcodethough um. Other than a color of the year. And... money from the masters hands scripture references and quotes i carry over to my The Jason notes journaling Bible are all green. All your other teaching notes are in black. I suspect when i read Here to Hear Ill pick another color... So. Um. I guess i am color coding your teaching/books . @treyvancamp teachings are in blue. What can i say.

🤣🤣🤣the intro cracked me up too. I’m glad I’m not the only person to rewatch it for that reason. He is correct though lol people will drive you crazy!
You are hilarious. I love it. Thanks for not making this boring, You're appreciated

Thank you for the info AND the giggles.

You need to look into fountain pens and inks…your head would explode with the amount of options you have.

Love the layout of that bible! And your hilarious 😂😂😂
I also use the circle on the sticky flag to mark a pick up here verse. It works great. Pretty sure I got that tip from you in another video.

Where can I get the pen case?
@@ryanterlouw2132there's an Amazon link for it in the video description.
Your enthusiasm is an inspiration! (If you hate the sound of lawn-mowers, come to Canada bro! We have snow. Everywhere!) 🙂
How dare you say, "I hate some of you." LOL. Great video as always.😂😂😂
This is awesome, thank you!
Jason, which bible is that? Love those wide margins.

I’ve become a fan of .5 Pilot Frixion pens. Erasable and so are their highlighters.
And they disappear if your Bible is left in the car…
I hear the lawn mower in the background loud! My neighbor is mowing as I watch. Maybe I can hear mowing in surround sound. 🤔
I’ve still got the green pen case you used to use. I’ve always picked up great tips from you but I’m not digging the yellow and white case 😅
I haven’t heard about the green pen case in years. 😂😂😂😂 that used to be one of the top questions I’d receive. “What’s that case?!?”
Bro. Clear sticky notes. Mind blown. Thanks boss! 🔥
The next evolution!!!! (Let’s connect soon - sorry I’ve been impossible with my schedule)
@JasonMayfield I'm down man! BTW, you broke the internet. The paper is sold out! 🤣
Did you purposely match your hat to your pencase? Very pretty 😍
1:40 what bible is this one? Love all the space and the fact every verse starts on the left.
