@SmilesAllDay420 I can't remember exactly how she is related to me, but I believe she's my Grandfather's Aunt/Great Aunt or something. I've listened to a lot of videos on typhoid Mary (one twice as long as your video) and you're the first to talk about the other cases and the double standard. Thank you for your research.
People with postpartum don't realize skin to skin contact will release the chemicals your brain needs to be happy right now. My Irish grandmother was adamant that Mary never had typhoid; it was just a smear campaign against Irish immigrants. I'm not sure if that's 100% true, but I do believe there was a lot of truth in that statement. Irish, immigrant, poor, and a woman- she was the perfect scapegoat.

If you do a Helen Keller episode, I recommend getting insight from the Deaf, Blind and DeafBlind communities. Love your episodes, they keep me awake on long drives for work. Thanks for all you do!
I've always felt terribly sorry for Mary. She took the long perilous journey to the US to escape the abject poverty and hunger in Ireland at the time. She started again from scratch all on her own. The realisation that she was a carrier of disease must have been appalling to her. But when faced with homelessness and starvation, or continue working to survive, well that's a difficult choice. It's probably right what you say about her being female. But also I think if she'd have played along with Dr Soper from the start there might have been a happier outcome. Poor Mary 😷🤒🥺

I noticed over the past week or so that creators who never had ads now have a BUNCH of them. Some videos even within the first minute. I'm sure it's a UA-cam change since it happened to so many channels I follow. Really frustrating and I hope more people complain so YT backs off.

I just feel like Mary was the victim of human rights violations because she was a poor Irish woman. Maybe it was these men who were running around with typhoid. Maybe it was in the water. It sounds like she tested negative a lot more than positive. And there was this doctor trying to make a name for himself at her expense.
Wow! I always thought she did it on purpose... the more you know! Its so sad she had to live a life of isolation. Thanks for another Dark History Bailey ❤

There were SIX youtube ads in this presentation! I listen to your sponsors diligently. Why are there additional ones? Enjoy your channel every time you posts otherwise. Thank you for detailed and informative presentations 😊
right? the ads she does for her sponsors i don't really mind. but why are there youtube ads right after them as well. it's starting to get annoying
don't think she can control that. Get an ad blocker
I noticed over the past week or so that creators who never had ads now have a BUNCH of them. Some videos even within the first minute. I'm sure it's a UA-cam change since it happened to so many channels I follow. Really frustrating and I hope more people complain so YT backs off.
Hey Bailey it would be awesome if you could show your tattoos. I can see some, and just curious what other ones you have!!
You're amazing thanks for going down the rabbit hole for us so we don't have to!!❤
She likes to keep her tattoos meanings and all the details to herself :) she did a video about it a loooong time ago. She used to not even show them much
Getting Lizzie and Helen mixed up is the highlight of my day! 😂😂😂 love you, Bailey!!
Ugh I had my eyelid twitching for months, I was petrified it would become paralyzed or a permanent thing. Crazy to hear that it happens over stress lol
As a chef named Mary, I'm traumatized. Oooooohhhh My goodness. I have never heard of this story. 😮
Bailey! Can you do a Dark History on the meat packing industry in the early 1900s and the book written about it The Jingle!?
As a meat cutter, I would find that very interesting
The Jungle by Upton Sinclair! One of my favorite books in high school! It’s so sad 😢
@ yes that one! I heard that he got a job at a meat packing plant to see how things really were to write the book. It’s fiction but based on what he saw while he worked there. The book inspired the establishment of the FDA. I read it in HS too!
I don’t know how there’s not an either MMM or True History on both Helen Keller and Lizzie Borden. They are both part of our history that we kind of know about but really should know the truth on. Please Bailey, teach us!!
I just feel like Mary was the victim of human rights violations because she was a poor Irish woman. Maybe it was these men who were running around with typhoid. Maybe it was in the water. It sounds like she tested negative a lot more than positive. And there was this doctor trying to make a name for himself at her expense.
Thanks for helping me get through this week Bailey, JOAN CROW-FORD and Paul. I had to STRETCH out this episode to make it to MMM
Bailey! I homeschool my daughter and your videos are her history class! I of course screen your vids first 😆 She’s going to live this one!
This is the earlier I’ve ever been…
Me too
Sames
Same!
I usually just listen to the podcast, but decided to check out the youtube feed. Joan and Paul!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🤣🤣 Great show as usual.
Bailey they shipped the food out of Ireland under armed guard. They were only allowed to eat potatoes which were largely diseased 💔
My grandmother was Irish. She always said the potato famine was a calculated genocide at the hands of the English.
Wow! I always thought she did it on purpose... the more you know! Its so sad she had to live a life of isolation. Thanks for another Dark History Bailey ❤
4:21 Bailey you still look hotter than Paul.
❤❤❤you are so awesome. I have been following you since you first started. Thank you for being a great human being.
