Dear Bailey, one thing you should mention is about eunuchs in Ottoman Empire. They were taken from African countries, where many priests were performing surgeries on very young boys. Reason for POC eunuchs in Ottoman empire was, even if some of them could make harem women pregnant, it would be obvious right away. Also, there is a saying in Turkey: "Ottoman empire was not ruled by sultan, but by black eunuchs in their palace." Just a fun fact I guess, and sorry for any mistakes, English is not my first langague. Great episode as always ❤

Long time listener, first time commenter. Love your show. This episode in particular kept making me think about female circumcision and how they still practice it. It would be interesting to find out the history. My aunt who is from Indonesia told me that she had undergone a female circumcision.
Hey Bailey, story suggestion! I saw a video on a channel called Luna oi! about how Viet Nam overcame fascism. Luna Nguyen went into some of the very dark history of Viet Nam; they were attacked and occupied by other countries (spoiler: including the US) for a large part of their history, it's really fascinating. No one teaches this in the US because Viet Nam is happily communist.
This made me think of the origin of FGM(female Genital Mutilation) commonly dome in Africa. please look it up. Thank you.. Also, you rock, girl! I have learned a lot.
It's done on both males and females, usually teenagers 😢 and is similar to a circumcision not an intentional castration (all Jewish boys are circumcised at birth for example) Depends on the country. Sad to see both traditional healers and doctors hand in hand all over the world still have financial incentives to do this to children to this day. In the west its chemically under anaesthesia in other places with a rusty knife.
So HAPPY I found this channel! Idk what took me so long but I absolutely LOVE listening to Bailey tell a story. Especially Dark History. Thank you for your hard work & dedication! 🫶
I saw a comment on FB the other day of a man talking about how he had the whole stick and berries removed. He said he had been in therapy for body dysmorphia his whole life and decided that was best. He says he's happy with his choice, and that's great for him. I use he/him pronouns because that's how he presents, and he didn't say anything otherwise.
Heck yeah! Turing mention! Also I was literally working on a creator ruined by his creation story the other day. I'm so psyched for next week's dark history!

I'm in the middle of watching Game of Thrones (I'm at season 4 right now), so this video was put out at the perfect time for me! And being called a "millionaires village" because of all the prominent families with properties there. And many more secrets and facts that happened there
Long time listener, first time commenter. Love your show. This episode in particular kept making me think about female circumcision and how they still practice it. It would be interesting to find out the history. My aunt who is from Indonesia told me that she had undergone a female circumcision.
22:34 wait a minute, how were they castrated at birth if the dad was castrated first? Or did I hear it wrong?
I thought same thing. Theres something wrong with that story.
Maybe the mother was already pregnant when the castration happened?
I love how Paul and Joan have a stocking in the background💖💖 Happy Holidays you three💖💖
I love catching uploads this early! I needed something interesting to listen to while I clean my storage room 😀
Heloise was 21 years younger than Peter. She was a child when he knocked her up!
@@rodziegman yeah I kind of can’t stand when ppl miss the opportunity to rightly label pdfilia as such.
Just finished the two hot takes episode, and then this was here when I finished! Gotta love a double upload day! ❤
Wow... the amount of research you do is amazing.
didn't the eunich get infections and necrosis from the castration. back then they didnt have antibiotics and people died like flies
So HAPPY I found this channel! Idk what took me so long but I absolutely LOVE listening to Bailey tell a story. Especially Dark History. Thank you for your hard work & dedication! 🫶
Listening to these episodes is saving my sanity as a retail manager this holiday season 😂💀 my coworkers seem to think otherwise, however 👀
Please do the dark history of the hope diamond/hope diamond curse Bailey!💎
I saw a comment on FB the other day of a man talking about how he had the whole stick and berries removed. He said he had been in therapy for body dysmorphia his whole life and decided that was best. He says he's happy with his choice, and that's great for him. I use he/him pronouns because that's how he presents, and he didn't say anything otherwise.
Stop it PB&J is so cute how have I never realized that before 😭❤️
Heck yeah! Turing mention!
Also I was literally working on a creator ruined by his creation story the other day. I'm so psyched for next week's dark history!
Love you Bailey!! Can you do dark history on gyms and all that world when did it begin?
Great idea! Yes please.
😅 it's heavy..let's pick it up

I am watching Priime's Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story Part 3 of 4 and you are in it-minute 10:14.What a nice surprise!
AHAHAHAHHA that one "explotion of flavor" jolibee ad played exactly at 4:10 😭😭
BAILEY LOVE THE STOCKING FOR PAUL YOU AND JONE!
I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE PB&J😉😉
So excited for this crazy weird topic
Joan
I love the Christmas decorations. Especially the stockings on the fireplace, P,B,&J. It took me a second to realize Paul, Bailey & Joan was the P, B, & J. But for that split second I thought, " Why does Bailey have stockings for PeanutButter and Jelly?" Yea I'm tired and my brain stopped working today. 😂😂😂😂
Awesome glad to see you. I needed this right now. BAILEY time. ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉xoox
Take a shot every time Bailey says Bag o'ass 💀
🪦
Perfect timing to post, was just looking for something to watch while cleaning my room for a date later tonight :)
I'm in the middle of watching Game of Thrones (I'm at season 4 right now), so this video was put out at the perfect time for me! I'd never really given this subject much thought, but it is fascinating to learn about what kind of extreme behaviors were considered somewhat socially acceptable at one point in history.
This episode is interesting but all of the genital mutilation to children is just so evil it’s kind of hard to stomach.
TERF alert
And yet ppl still do it now
@@jenl1541 circumcisions of baby boys is common in the west isnt it? Or is it only some religions?
Yeah we should probably stop doing that ….
The dog whistling is so loud on this post 🤣🤣🤣
I don't know how I chanced upon this video but I thoroughly enjoyed it and have subscribed to your channel. I used to buy the 'Horrible History' series of booklets when my son was young and we had great fun and quality time discussing and learning about the dark side of history. So besides being very interesting, this reminds me of some very happy times spent with my son.
When they were trying to keep choir boys voices from changing they didn't have a surgeon to do this operation and so they just went to the Butcher and hope they survived
I was shock too about eunuchs, usually don't like history because it's boring but with Bailey, I can listen to her for hours. love It 🥰🥰
I challenged all my guy friends to try and watch the first 5 mins without their man parts going turtle 🐢 🤣🤣🤣
The algorithm has been hiding your videos from me which is crazy because in my YT recap you were number 1. 😂 I’m thinking maybe you took a break this whole time and I was going to binge some old episodes meanwhile you have like a months worth of new content ❤.
Same here! Thought the channel was gone!!
Me and my lettuced up self about died laughing when you said “gotta keep and eye out for selenur” 😂😂😂😂😂
I’m loving the collection! Also when you said gotta look out for selener took me OUT😭😂😂and the stockings for Paul and Joan?? Love
Alan Turing😢 if you are computer science student at some point, you know what kind of genius was he in computational theory and machine learning
Bailey I love you so much I watch every episode of dark history I can I just want to let you know that you are my number one podcaster in my UA-cam wrap up
